    Had this on my 01 Silverado. It runs fine and I am getting the best mileage since I've owned it. I'm not touching anything unless it starts having problems, but it's been about 1500 miles with no issues. We'll see.

    I'm knocking my head on this one. I replaced my 2006 sierra knock sensors with cheap aftermarket parts, failed within 100 miles. Replaced again with OEM sensors and harness, same outcome.
    What I'm I doing wrong? Torqued properly, wire harness has continuity. Your channel is great!

    Quick tip for the rust belt guys. My sensor upon removal actually separated into two pieces leaving the base in the intake valley and the top part and inter workings all over. I thought I would never get it out easily. I took the same size socket 23mm iirc and jb welded it into the piece that was remaining in the intake valley. When that dried I was able to back it out.

    Hey Tim you must be working on a Chevy pulled out of the swamp or something. Been driving Chevy 's for 40 years and never had as many problems as this truck. I guess it's a demonstration vehicle to learn from for defects found to help Honda and Toyota owners :)

    • @ThecardoctorTV
      @ThecardoctorTV  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Steve Rob The truck was donated to a local Christian school and has a little over 160K miles on it. I have completed over 3K in repairs so far and still have a couple leaking exhaust manifolds with broken off bolts in the head. Going to defer that repair until it becomes a real problem. Was going to do a water pump video on it but the footage didn't turn out. Also it sounds like a fuel pump is not far in its future. I do have a couple more videos from this project to post and they should be up this weekend. Just doing my part to promote Toyota sales across the globe!

    • @SteveRobReviews
      @SteveRobReviews 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ha Ha - yeah I have the sheared off exhaust bolts as well , not leaking its been 4 years like that. The fuel pump never went out but I put a new one in a AC delco at 90k because it was just a squealing high pitch noise, changed at 140k because again the noise, I have a carter in it now and it's real quiet I have 270k on now. If you do the exhaust manifold I'd love to see that. That's great helping out the church. Bless you. 👍

    Thank God this is not the way my 1999 Suburban is set up, it has the 5.7. I had the P0327 code. One sensor behind the starter and I was done. When the KS went bad I also got the P0420 code. It must have really loaded up the exhaust when it went bad. I almost crapped my pants thinking I had to do all that work.

    So this is an old video I was looking because after getting code P 0332 I replaced my knock sensors and harness with aftermarket parts. Code came back. I than took the intake off again and replaced the Knock sensors with AC Delco sensors and a harness. Code came back. I opened up the wiring harness traced the wires from the plug back to the ECM and I removed the pins cleaned and ran new wire. I testes the wire hooked it up and started the truck. The code was gone. Put the truck all back together and since I live in Pennsylvania I need an emissions test. And since I cleared out the memory I need to drive the truck about 100 miles. All went good for the first 5 minutes then the code came back. Now what??

    what can I do to trouble shoot this , any tips , and yes I torqued the sensors down to 15 ft lbs each time ,
    have you ever put a 100 ohm resistor inline for the knock sensor ?

      Austin Butler the knock sensor on your vehicle is located just behind the distributor toward the left rear of the cylinder head. It has a three wire connector that is squeezed to release then a hex socket is used to remove the sensor. Be careful not to drop the replacement sensor. Good luck and thanks for watching.

      Dion Filler. If ur security light stays on. That would be the gm pass lock system. It shuts down the fuel pump. U can still hear it but won't send fuel. U happen to use a different key then the original? That's usually the main cause.

      I suggest using GM parts (gaskets, sensors, harness) to avoid having to do it twice. Also don't drop the sensors or they may get damaged. Go for it! You'll be glad you did. Besides that you want that light to go out so when the MAF goes bad it will come back on and you'll know there's a new problem that needs addressed. Haha.

    • @ThecardoctorTV
      @ThecardoctorTV  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +troymassey90 Yes, if you can monitor the knock PID and it does not indicate knock when you hear an audible knock or when a light hammer tap on block near sensor then its likely a bad sensor or wiring.
