MIDI Fighter Twister set up in MIDI Remote Manager, then (as of Cubase 13) we have to open and use the older legacy "Remote Control Editor" by right-clicking the top of the plugin window. Then delete the default rows and create 6 new rows of 8 parameters per row (48 total). Then set the plugin parameters in this legacy Remote Control Editor to get past the 8-parameter-per-page limit. The MIDI Fighter Twister has 16 encoders x 2 (press and turn for 2nd value) x 4 banks. So it's good to avoid having to page back and forth to access parameters 9-16, etc. This is set-and forget: It will keep the plugin settings forever for all projects going forward so we only need to manually map each plugin's parameters once.
on Cubase Pro 12, I can't keep my MIDI keyboard controller connected when using the chord pad on different tracks. I tried a lot of things, read a lot of things but never found the answer. Is there a trick? Thanks.
I use the Listen-button to dim all other instruments by 3dB. Then you can focus a bit more on that instrument and still hear it in context of the rest of the mix.
With this sale, i came back to cubase after 7 years with pro tools.. I got 13 pro for 179eur with the competitive crossgrade. Amazing deal! an man, cubase has come a long way in those years
I wish I could give this video multiple likes! I almost clicked away and wouldn't have thought anything of it until I saw those last two tips. Pure gold, Chris! I never realized the listen mode was setup in Control Room, and your reference mix tip on the cue send is genius. Thanks!
THANK YOU FOR THIS!!........these are some solid control room color code basics, that every now and then I need a refresher on. The other tips are also great refreshers 😉👍
Thank you Chris for sharing your tricks. Today I get the Listen function I've never used. So cool, so useful. The way I did to have only the FX was boring. And I was like, how annoying is Cubase for that thing. And always during a mix, didn't take the time to google that. So thank you again. Since I take the faderport, I realize that workflow is much more essential than a piece of hardware to produce a great mix, and you were a piece of that mind process.
So happy to see this video! Over the years I picked up so many of your tips and, with this video, I have 'em all checked! Yet, you surprise me with another video I missed (somehow)! Thanks for all the great tips and pointing me towards Sessionwire!
As always amazing! Id like to know if there is a way (other than bouncing) that you have figured out how to assign the internal click sounds to an audio track or group channel. In sessions or when Im scoring I like to have control over the click level gain and do tempo changes etc without rebouncing so its a live feed and send it to musicians ears (without cumix I use auxes to a headphone system )
Chris, your tips are amazing, thanks, would like to see some videos showing your production ideas, build a track from scratch? some more of your creative techniques using Cubase and plugins. thanks again.
Thanks Chris! on your queue I went to get WaveLab at a very cool discount.... let`s see if I can Mater better with it than I do with Cubase. Do you master in WaveLab? or in Cubase?
@@mixdownonline Today I started my learning process... I must say I was kind of regretting it at first.... Now I am happy, I will leave Mastering to WaveLAb... it seems it will save me a lot of time because in one batch I can master a complete album..... metadata, normalized to whatever. . . . and the metrics are very precise.... Thanks again Chris 👍
I hope so, it's always cool to get a new Cubase, but C13 is so good that I could live with this one for a few years no problem...So we'll see, I guess :)
Chris, quick question. If a plugin inserted on the control room like Tonal balance Control or Session Wired "adjust" your listening, I guess the mix is going to be "heard" like from the control room; when you bounce it, though, won't the mix sound different? If Tonal balance makes you choose for a low cut, but it's just in the listening (therefore the mix is going to have less low end while you mix) won't it be different when you bounce it, since the plugin isn't on the channel but on the CR? Thanks in advance
I use Tonal Balance Control as a graphic analyser, so it doesn't change the sound, and Sesionwire is to send audio out as an audio driver. But yes, if you have a plugin like Sonarworks to calibrate your speakers, the bounce will not sound like what comes out of the control room, and that's what you want. Plugins in the control room should only be plugins used for monitoring. If you use Sonarworks or an EQ in the control room, make sure you have the same EQ calibration outside Cubase to listen to your master if not using Cubase using the same computer/speakers. Hope that helps!
Beautiful and thank you Chris , But the meter colors is not changing on the big meter on the right side menu , All other places in the mix channel and individual channels are changed. Is there is any other option to change the big meter in the right menu of cubase.
The right zone meter is setup to Digital Scale by default, you can change that on the top left of that meter to "+3 Digital Scale" like the faders are setup to. Hope that helps!
Well, I already stole from you all of these, I think with exception of the mixdown shortcut. And I changed just a couple of colors: I like my bass in black, like the MIX GROUPS, and the main vocals are switched with the back vocals. The bounce selection shortcut is very handy in every edition session.
😂I just saw your video on your new computer ?!?! You’re using an m1 laptop ?!?! I just asked you earlier about getting a pc ! If you read my comments about that I’d appreciate your feedback thanks
Tried to create a shortcut for manual/tape machine but cannot find the category under Key Commands (assigned or unassigned) - am I missing something? Many thanks.
Why does the colours on the fader knobs look out of focus. A lot say this and a lot with 20/20 vision and young say it is great. Just look at the faders on Cubase 12 and they are perfect, but on 13 it seems like a 3D blur without glasses on so to speak. To me it is designers trying to be too clever. Now i will get technical. Steinberg designers have tried to put a shadow on the faders to what they call realism, but in fact the shading makes the faders look blurry to the eye. If you stare at the fader for a while they do come into focus. As soon as you look away and look back again they look blurry to the eye. For me and quite a lot of others find the faders blurry and you cannot change even with tweaking. Okay, it mabe a optical illusion to people who wear glasses and getting older, but this needs to be addressed. Steinberg still do not listen. Compare 12 with 13 on the mix console and you may see what i see and it is rather annoying when you glance at them.
What are the things you like to configure in your Cubase setup for a better workflow? Let me know!
I do exactly like you!

Yes, I use like this too.
A key command that I set up, and use constantly, is 'Go to start of project'. I find this pretty much essential. 🧡

I don’t know if you have ever covered this, but can you show a use for the wave circle meter?
Are you referring to the Phasescope in Supervision?
@@mixdownonline no. Wave circle. It appears to be a useless meter. I was wondering if you or anyone has found a use for it.
I have three kick drum tracks (Kick In, kick out, Kick Sub) What color should I use for each? And do these colors sum these three tracks together?
Orange ! bass yellow ,vocals green ,blue rythm, red lead .
I use the same color for all drums
NO NO NO Drums blue, lead voc yellow, bass pink, elec guits orange, keys violet, ac guit light blue...That's the ONLY way it will sound good. LOL!

hello, I really enjoyed your tutorials, how can I download the color code
there is a link in the discriotion and you can download from their .

FWIW. That key- it’s called tilde
Commonly referred to as the Grave Key.

It's actually under VST in the KeyCommands window. Search for "Auto Monitoring"

yep, I do all that BUT there´s no way I won´t use Metric AB plugin for referencing, a game changer.

The Presonus Faderport 16
