Don't ever do this with a acetylene tanks ... they can explode even if you drain it all out.. because they are foam and liquid inside that's what makes the gas.. you can not know for sure you got all the liquid out.. that's why it can explode..
@robert Brown, I'm trying to get a hold of some old aluminum tanks exactly like these for a project (I'll need to cut them in half lengthwise). Are people throwing these away? Where can I get a couple for cheap?
Hey, I have 3 in my possession, I'm doing a similar project as well but only using 2 maybe 1. I don't know if it's too late but you're more than welcome to contact me on email and I'll share my info. enissan45@gmail.com or if you already did you project maybe you can share youre link and I can scope it out if you don't mind. Good luck!
Dang man, if that grinder disk breaks that’s going straight into your forehead
grinder wheels dont like aluminum, they fill up with aluminum.

Wow those tanks are so much thicker than I would have guessed.
Are those tanks Alluminium??
Tank valves are brass.

@@enissan45 Thanks for reaching out. I ended up just repurposing my old skis. A friend scared me away by telling me the scuba tanks wouldn't track.
