    I did my heater core on my 190e a while ago. It is not a small job, patience is needed. In the end, everything went well, but I forgot to install the captive nuts the first time. That won't happen again. I didn't think to check the vacuum actuators either, but it's all Ok. I was wondering, where do you get the hardware for the car? Thanks for the video. Rob.

    • @VITOSGARAGE

    Amazing video as usual 👍👍👍👍 And it's awesome that the Baby got some much needed attention. If I may, when it comes to the pod with the exception of the one that you replaced, none of the others are available from Mercedes anymore. I'm sure that you know George Murphy owner of the Performance Analysis Company in TN still make the rubber membrane for the rest of the round ones (single or double). He doesn't make the rubber membrane for the black square one (0008008775) and when that one goes unfortunately we're SOL it's been NLA for a long time and the used ones tend to be in the same precarious condition.

    • @VITOSGARAGE
      @VITOSGARAGE  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The new membranes from other vacuum actuators will have to be installed onto the NLA ones. I’m not worried about it

    when normal people research what cars to buy lol, they look at things like mileage, range, and price...when a pawpaw bandit does car research, he looks at how to replace the heater core and fix everything in the car, especially behind the dash! "sure, I'll buy it, just let me see behind the dash first, please"

    • @VITOSGARAGE
      @VITOSGARAGE  ปีที่แล้ว

      I never look at the mileage on these cars. Mileage doesn't mean anything. Classic Benzes are million mile cars. Can't compare them to anything made today. Start helping us by restoring and saving these cars!

    Damn good job. Are you going to replace the evaporator while you are in there?

    @vitosgarage great video! what information source do you recommend to find the small and very specific part numbers for older 90s mercs? for example, the glove box clips. Is there a part number manual for each merc and where can it be obtained?

    • @VITOSGARAGE
      @VITOSGARAGE  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s hard to say. But they have factory books for many Benzes that have the part numbers only. I usually just google the part numbers or go on the Mercedes Genuine Parts website and they usually have exploded views of parts.
      Some bigger parts on these cars will have the actual part number molded to it on the backside, or sometimes labeled.
      The glove box clips part number is 1239900092

    I have an issue with my 190e. The pipes going to the heater (by heater control valve) and return pipes are getting hot but there's still no heat in the car. It's blowing out cold air.

    • @VITOSGARAGE

    Is there a particular way to remove the heat core without having to disassemble the whole dashboard? I've seen other videos where I only need to remove a few screws and it should come off. But it doesn't for me. The things I want to do is fix the fan speed switch which tends to get stuck a lot in the W201. The previous tried to unstuck it "like a brute" I'd say and broke the switch mechanism inside. The fan speed can still be controlled but the switch is stuck on 2 positions and you have to fiddle with it to change it. So yeah, I want to see what kind of mess the previous owner did without having to remove the entire car from the car.

    • @VITOSGARAGE
      @VITOSGARAGE  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There’s no other way to replace the heater core other than the method in the video. And since you’re gonna be there I highly recommend changing all the worn parts behind the dash and vacuum actuators etc. look into changing the whole steering lock assembly with brand new one too. It’s so easy to do while there

      @@VITOSGARAGE Sorry in advance, I came to this video just to know how to remove the center console to access the fan speed slider which tends to get jammed. Mine is jammed, but I eventually managed to get it out.

    Nice work- did you do this with the coolant rerouted as per an earlier video of yours? If you didn’t reroute would you drain whole system before starting? Im about to change the o-ring going into the heater as i believe this is where I have a coolant leak but think i can do this without removing the entire dash. (Uk car passenger side lower part of heater so can access via glovebox and knee panel removed). I want to do this without draining-think that is possible?

      @@VITOSGARAGE Ok, thanks. I'll check the box again. Btw do you have to drain the coolant or something before doing this job? I have to do it myself because no mechanic wants to do this job on my 190E :D. Big thanks for this video! It's gold

    • @VITOSGARAGE
      @VITOSGARAGE  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ottson you’re very welcome!! Take your time! You can do it! You don’t have to drain the entire cooling system. When the dashboard is out and you’re ready to disconnect the heater core hoses, just put some plastic bags there to catch any coolant left in the lines and heater core. Have some paper towels and rags handy too!
