Crazy how many people run into this problem and ended up watching your video. I was one of those people today and it worked! Thank you so much for this solution!!
Thank you! And thanks to all the other commenters who provided tips and encouragement. I used a HSS step bit 3/16 inch (on up) and drilled like crazy for an hour and a half to get this blasted corroded/rusted nut off the last part of the old faucet. Took forever but I am persistent (read: stubborn). Now I can send back the tools I ordered from Amazon and get the new faucet installed tomorrow! Many thanks for a very helpful video.
I wish I could give this video a hundred thumbs up! a plumber wanted to charge $280 to replace one faucet so I decided to do it myself! Everything was ez breezy except one nut that looked exactly like the one in this video was rusty as hell and I couldn't get it off. After watching this video I bought a helix 3/8 drill bit for $23 and tried this and it worked 😁!!! Thank you so much!
You are my life saver. Thank you so much!!! Had a rusted nut and even after using penetrating oil & basin wrench, it was impossible. We finally got it after watching your video. One thing we did do differently was using a bit a little bit wider than the nut instead of doing another hole sideways. Perfect!
This video saved me 150 bucks, exactly what I needed to do. For me the 3/8 bit worked the best. I also had thin metal washer I had to cut. Excellent helpful video thanks so much
I had been trying to remove the nut from an old faucet and smashed my fingers. Then I watched your video. My oscillating tool cut through the nut in less than a minute. Thank you (and my fingers thank you).
I tried WD40 and bought an under basin wrench, and neither helped budge it. I bought a 7/32 metal drill bit (another person here suggested that size -thanks) put a clear piece of clear plastic over my face to protect my eyes (very important!!!!) and drilled the wretched thing off. Thanks for the wonderful assistance!
Thank you for sharing this.. I didn’t have the room to get in at that 90degree angle but drilling 3 holes into the nut then hitting with a chisel caused it to come off .. wear safety googles for sure!
Worked better than expected! The nut and bolt had meshed together given the degree of rust. A couple of walks with a heavy duty screwdriver cured that! Thanks for posting!
HOLY SMOKES! This was my problem.. getting under a bathroom sink with no room to reach, I thought I was doomed. This will allow me to get my handles loose now and replace my parts! Thanks!!!
Thank you from the US!! I have been struggling for the past couple of hours with trying to remove the 3 corroded brass nuts from my 25 year old bathroom fixture. Penetrating oil, hammer and chisel, etc. Found this video and 5 minutes later. . . done!! Thank you!!
Thank you for this video. My first time replacing a faucet and my nut was 10 times worse than this one on the video. My wife is happy with our new kitchen faucet.
Thx you so much. Your tip is so useful and extremely practical. I just save a couple hundred bucks now getting rotary tool and metal blades - which was not going to be trivial due to the tight space between the stubborn nut and the sink. So happy I found your video. Cheers
Thank you...after a few hours of using penetrating oil, nothing. It would not budge and with the tight workspace it was getting frustrating. I came across your video and was done in about 5 minutes.
Grateful to find your fix. Larger bit (7/32) worked better than smaller. Persistence and downward (upward) drill pressure will get the job done. Thank you.
I love you. Thank, thank for ending my struggle with my kitchen sink. Your video solved my problem and I've been fighting for the last two hours trying to get that damn bolt off. You're the best!
I broke a drill bit but is was well worth it. Thank you. You are a true blessing. You deserve millions of views. It took me a while to find your video that dealt with the exact problem I had. Thank You again.
Thank You!!!! I’ve never been so frustrated in my life. Was thinking I would easily change the faucet in 20 minutes, of course not! Getting out the drill 👍👍👍👍
had the same problem on the same faucet! thank you so much, had nearly given up! Next problem was the hole in the sink wasn't round.....out came the dremel. Great synth tune btw.
Just like some other ppl i been messing with this 4 n hr. Ur video is spectacular..I appreciate it so much, trying 2 save some money n do it myself..tks again👍🏻
Great video! I used the drill and Dremel to cut the damn nut. But my nut was so rusted it still seized up to the threads. So the extra step was to use a screw driver and hammer to chisel out the nut from the threads after making the cut!
The nut on mine had a flange, making it more difficult to pry off. I used an oscillating tool with metal cutting blade to put a couple cuts in it and split the flange. The nut never busted open, but the vibration of the oscillating tool managed to loosen it once I had cut through the nut and flange. Then I could use the tool like an impact chisel to slowly turn the nut enough to finish the rest by hand.
Going to be trying this in about 5 minutes :) hopefully works for me - looks like you had a fair amount of room to angle the drill and bit few ways. thank you for this idea ! What I hoped would have been a quick faucet swap is turning into major headache :(!
Props to you good sir! This saved me going to the store and buying some tool I'll only use once. Also gotta say big props being able to do this and film it to hahah that ain't an easy task. Well done!
I opened the box to my new faucet and there was a tool for the nut under the sink. I decided to try before I broke out my drill and the tool worked. Perhaps someone can find this useful as well.
I wouldn't have thought of drilling I don't have much room for angling the drill under there either, and the faucets are much older than this one, but If I can't get them off any other way I'll try this, thanks for the video.

👏🏻This is a great technique and can also be used to remove old, stubborn, and rusty mounting nuts from sink strainers.
Absolutely!
Watched this video after struggling to get the nut off. Said "pfft I ain't doing that". 45 min later........
Got it off in under 3 min. Thank you sir!

Great tip. Took me 20 minutes but I removed the impossible nut. Thanks
Glad it helps 😌
Just did this and it worked like a charm. I was about to pull the sink basin out. Thank you!!!!!!
Great!
Well done. I used an oscillating tool to cut nut, which did same thing. Stuff locks up tight over time!!

Is it easier & quicker than drilling in tight space and on your back?
Отличный способ!!! Автор молодец! Быстро эффективно!!!

Love it. I don't have a drill but I have sharp chisels. Will destroy the retaining ring.
Simple; yet genius!!! I just punched out both sides and it fell right off. Thanks man!

I cut off the top of the faucet with an angle grinder. Also takes 5 minutes, but much more dramatic.
I was fixing to do the same, luckily checked TH-cam first.
I chipped my sink with the grinder
Says the guy who can do it for less
