I remember Wolfey tried a Normalize gimmick team in VGC with skill swap, a shadow tag mon, and two ghost types which basically trapped the foes mons, gave them normalize so they couldn't touch the ghost type duo, and slowly picked off the foes' teams at it's leisure. It didn't win whatever tournament he ran it in, but it was definitely a memorable gimmick
Was messing around in gen 8's natdex AG a while back and ran into a fair few of those sets in low ladder. Assuming they didn't all figure it out on their own, it's interesting to think that Wolfie's set from 2013 was still influencing people in approx. 2020
My idea for buffing Normalize in a way that could make sense but still works with its original concept is make all non Normal-type moves have the Normal type as a secondary typing. If it's not enough ( which it probably isn't ), give Normalize the Scrappy effect as well making all Normal-type moves ignore Ghost's immunity to Normal type. It basically gives it STAB on every move however every move also does 1/2 damage against Rock and Steel types.
I like this idea. Definitely not broken in anyway, and it has the added benefit of adding another mon with multi-type moves which is something I've been wanting for ages. Flying press is so cool, why did they stop at just that one move????
I briefly tried using Delcatty in a casual playthrough of Pokemon Ruby and I got two clear impressions of how Gamefreak wanted it to be ultilized. 1: Stack status and debuff on the foe like crazy and slowly wearing them down while they can't do anything. Attract + Cute Charm is the key but there's also Sing, Sweet Kiss, and even Charm or Sand Attack. Once the foe is Infatuated, asleep, -6 Attack, and/or confused there's really nothing they can do whatsoever. 2: Cute Contests. Skitty/Delcatty's natural movesets are extremely synergetic with contests and probably the easiest to win in that category
Feels accurate, but with such awful defences you take 1 hit and its over. Especially when your recovery consists of dream eater and rest, both fairly risky
I actually really like Delcatty's design and Normalize+Silk Scarf hits surprisingly in-game, so it's a shame its stats leaves so much to be desired in competitive. At only 400 BST as a Stage 1 Pokemon, I feel like we can raise the stats by a reasonable amount, so here's the new one: HP: 80 Attack: 75 Defense: 65 Special Attack: 85 Special Defense: 75 Speed: 90 In terms of moveset, it's got pretty decent coverage already so I'll probably just give it Slack Off for some reliable recovery
She was made for contest but i dont think they actually had any idea how to use her in combat, she can be at most annoying but she's too weak to handle a single hit, she will die anyway
The best way to make Delcatty viable is to play PMD lol. That's only half-joking, too. The Skitty line may not be good in mainline but it puts in Work in the Mystery Dungeon series. Infatuation goes crazy, especially in entries where there are no genders so it works on literally everything that's not Oblivious, it has the standard Normal-type coverage which gives it a good deal of options for long distance, AOE, and room-wide attacks, multi-hit moves like Double Slap lowkey hit like a truck with MD's damage system... There's a reason that in games where it's available as the player or partner it's pretty consistently considered one of if not The best starters in the game.
Surprised to hear that, only heard frustration from people who’ve played as Skitty, at least in the Explorers games, since there’s story dungeons populated almost entirely by ghost types.
While there are a few dungeons which are primarely populated by ghost types in the main story, it is honestly not that bad. You can easily work around it with items or letting your parter handle the ghosts. Also keep in mind that immunities in pmd2 are a heavy damage reduction, not a complete immunity (not taking wonder guard into account), so you can still do damage, and skitty hits like a truck in those games. Having a harder time in these few dungeons (which you can't visit again) is well worth all of skitty's upsides (iq group G, insane moovepool, helpfull unique items etc.)
Infatuation hits different when the cutesy monsters can all talk. Feels like Baldurs Gate stuff ngl. (though ngl that's a surprising amount of pmd content. Those impending apocalypses hit different) ತ_ʖತ
Absolute Normal: All moves become typeless, dealing neutral damage to all types. Also keep the 1.2 damage multiplier (or higher, Delcatty needs some help). The idea revolves around the concept of "normal" being "average", so much average it ignores all types to become truly mediocre.
They can make Purugly faster than Latios for no clear reason but cannot give the same luxury to a "rare Moon Stone" evolution Pokemon. I think there was a video showing that you can make its stats work mainly by giving it far more support movepool options especially via level up.
I detest Pokémon's speed creep tbh. Roaring Moon, Dragapult, Zacian-C, and Calyrex-Shadow Rider have no right to be as fast as they are, and their hereto unseen offensive power makes building for them a chore. The worst part is that I like all of these Pokémon except Dragapult :(
One of the biggest moves that could help Delcatty is Foul Play. On a Normalize set, it’s conceptually cool to have a 114 base power STAB move that you don’t even need to invest attacking stats on, and it’s also a nice choice for non-Normalize Delcatty sets to do solid damage to a mon like Dragapult that would wall the Normalize set. The move is dexited now, but if Delcatty’s speed were amped up (to 110+), and its attacking stats were raised a moderate amount, it could get some solid use off of Normalize Me First if that was a move that was distributed to it. Me First with Normalize is cool because you turn any attacking move into STAB, along with the 1.5x Me First move. If you managed to click Me First against a mon that’s clicking Close Combat on Delcatty, then Delcatty’s throwing an effective 216 base power STAB move. Getting the 1.5x damage boost can also be nice if you target Me First into a mon that’s using a spread move. Of course the issue is that Me First requires the target to use an attacking move, but in VGC, some mons mainly just use attacking moves and Protect, and in the case of Protect, it failing isn’t different from other damaging moves.
Taking a page from a pokemon tabletop's version of normalize here: Remove the 1.2x boost, but all moves this pokemon uses now deal neutral damage, bypassing resists and immunities. Simple, but effective.
delcatty probably needs a full on evo with alright stats (ranging from 80-90) with high speed.base 130 sounds good because the nature of delcatty is that its frail and its pure normal. buffing normalize so that the boost is 1.3 also seems pretty reasonable, because it would be good but not broken. also giving it some more status moves like parting shot can be good, and even sd, which could potentially make it mess with a lower tier at least. i also honestly think that if we want to get rid of the ghost problem, we’d have to make normalize effect ghost types, but ghosts should atleast resist the normal moves. thank u for listening to my ted talk
That an I think taunt would be a great addition I'd say make Normalize deal typeless damage with a 50% power boost (so, like Protean, but more balanced), and maybe transfer some defense into attack. Otherwise, pretty good!
Change normalize to this: everything becomes normal type. Not only your moves but also your opponent's moves, and even your opponents typing as well. (And your own type, if you arent normal type already)
@@meloelebi1996 It might even become viable in doubles too. Imagine a tanky Pokemon with no weakness to hit. Or a glass cannon ally that now hits everything for neutral damage always
If you keep Normalize as Delcatty’s signature Ability, you could roll Scrappy’s (hit Ghosts) and Tinted Lens’ (resisted moves deal 2x damage) effects into it as well. Only Rock and Steel dual types would resist Delcatty’s attacks then, and only a 1/2 resist. Essentially make it into the ultimate neutral damage machine.
One potential idea is splitting normalize into two abilities: Normalize and Normalate (or whatever other names) where one of them only affects physical moves and the other only affects special. It would be weird, but it would allow catty to have some actual coverage. This probably should be combined with some other buff as well though (as well as maybe giving it to another mon or two)
I think adding the effects of scrappy and tinted lents at the expense of the attack boost could be a good way to make the ability useful while keeping it's spirit intact
Not relevant but the fangame Pokemon Rejuvenation gave Delcatty the funniest buff ever. Basically, there's items called crests that function like mega stones. They only work on a specific Pokemon and give them an upgrade. It's mainly used to power up weak Pokemon like Castform, who's crest makes it set up weather for free when it's sent out and different big stat boosts depending on its form. Delcatty's crest gives it 10% of every stat except for hp for every other unfainted Pokemon in your party. What this means is that in Rejuvenation, this cat reaches pseudo legendary stats
Maybe making normalize more interesting by making more moves that work like flying press where they deal damage with both types, leaving a coverage type for delcatty to use. Alternatively it could make it an field effect, not only changing Delcatty's move types, but every Pokemon on the field's typ, it would make a Trick-or-Treat partner in doubles interesting by essentially turning Delcatty into a Shedninja with no weaknesses, besides status and hazards. Or Normalize could replace anything hit by a normalize move into a normal type in addition, turning the enemies into normal types themself to make them lose their own STAB
Ooo I like the idea of Normalize turning moves ‘Neutral Type’ (like struggle) NOT normal type- but with an additional STAB bonus as if Delcatty itself was Neutral Type. This allows it to work like scrappy, but ALSO maintain the benefits/buffs of hitting ground types with paralysis and such. That, plus a few stat increases to speed could let it shine as a truly unique support
fun fact: silk scarf normalize fake out + sucker punch is actually incredibly strong priority even compared to mons with actual attacking stats. I feel like buffing normalize's damage boost and increasing its speed but not its attack would play into that.
Had an idea similar to someone else's post, but here is this for a thought: Normalize: Upon activating, causes the Normalized Terrain. Normalized Terrain: All Pokemon are considered Normal type, both offensively and defensively. Last 5 turns (8 with Terrain Extender), can be overridden by other Terrain effects. This would remove 'grounded' mons immunities (electric into ground, poison into steel, etc.), but leave flying mons unaffected by it. Alternative option would make it similar to Neutralizing Gas, and affect all mons regardless of flying status or not. I would say still allow it to be overriden
Omg I love delcatty so much and Skitty! She needs some love ! I once beat Cynthia's Garchomp with my tiny Skitty since I gave her the Power of Anime to beat it up with play rough and sing!
My suggestion for normalise is pretty much the same as a lot of suggestions here: Turns all moves to normal type, gives damaging moves 1.1X damage, can hit ghost types, ignores resistances (alternatively: deals double damage to resistances) That’s how Elite Redux changed it in their latest update, and like… it works really well.
Delcatty screams "I need an evolution". Then at that point it can get something unique perhaps, like giraffarig did with its evo and armour tail. Being able to use evolite with so many supporting options helps a bunch too.
The best abusers of normalize are easily Mega Gengar and other fast ghosts in BH. With Block, Skill Swap, and Baton Pass, you can easily trap and eliminate pokemon while they become entirely unable to touch you. It’s good as a trap because it’s able to work more than once, and is effectively Imposter-Proof due to the lack of attacking options. It works really well as a check against most pure sweeping threats.
Best thing to do would probably be to let you choose whether to change the move to Normal-type on the turn you select it in battle. Being able to choose between Electric or Normal Thunder Wave would be pretty good since only Golurk would be immune to both Normal and Electric, but then again, all Electric-types are immune to Paralysis, anyway.
Delcatty is a poster child of a pokemon I would wanna be typeless. I think as a gimmic pokemon, making a gimmic type makes sense to me to give it what it needs to smack all types with its ability. Changing Normalize to make moves typeless (Normalizing their effects across types) and giving it some stats to match would be huge
One idea for Normalize, would be to make it so that, in addendum to getting the power boost, no enemy Pokémon type can resist or be immune to normal type moves by the users. So it would act as tinted lens and scrappy as well. Which is a fair trade off. You won’t hit anything super effective but you also won’t be resisted by anything. This would lower the overall threshold of offensive stats Delcatty would need to become usable. Kinda like how nothing truly resisted Dragon Type moves (outside of steel) in Gen 5. Making it super spam-able.
Change Normalize into Neutralize, which just makes every move on the field become neutral - no type immunites, weaknesses, or stregths. Just give Delcatty some higher stats and it functions as a very disruptive pokemon. Normal only has it's ghost immunity, so in a vacuum this isn't a huge ability, but give delcatty some more stats/options and it becomes a niche pick for different singles and doubles formats. If you have toxic spikes up in singles, you throw out a delcatty and suddenly their poison type switchin gets poisoned instead of removing toxic spikes. In doubles, you threaten more and less damage to different switchins to big attackers. It'd be a fun dynamic similar to Neutralizing Gas.
*Gives it a Normal/Ghost evolution and makes it so Normalise ALSO changes the opponent's attacks to Normal type* XD ...Ok that's probably a little too busted, even if the foe's attacks being normaled only happens conditionally (like if the cat is using status or attacking moves) but I do think a Normal/Ghost evolution would work wonders for it (would justify the additional stats easily) and Normalise really does deserve to be tweaked in some way to actually make it worthwhile (I really like the 'bypasses the type chart in general' idea since that kinda fits the vibe: no resists or immunity, just pure typelessness blasting from the cat
Buffs: Normalize: All moves are type less "normal". (moves cannot hit for super effective nor be resisted or immune) Stats +65 Attack:65->+10->75 Spec A: 55->+20->75 Spec D: 55->10->65 Speed 90->+25->115 Total: 70 / 75 / 65 / 75 / 65 / 115
I think a good buff would be to make Normalize work like No Guard, by which I mean not only its attacks become normal, but also any attack that targets it. I feel like that would be a fair trade for Normalize essentially gutting Delcatty's coverage options.
Personally I’d say make it change moves to normal, but double their power. It fits with the old theme of giving insane abilities like huge power to trash stat mons
The way to buff Delcatty is to introduce a second stage evolution, Frailine, which gets those extra speed and attack stats. Frailine evolves from Delcatty when given a Moon Rock, which is a new item that's distinct from a Moon Stone.
I like the idea of buffing normalise to have scrappy and tinted lens built in and making all of it attacks truly neutral and "normal" feeling except against rock steel pokemon. I think after you do that you can buff its stats if that's not too strong
I kinda like the idea of normalize making all moves on the field turn into normal type moves. Could be fun in doubles and could be a way of messing with pokemon in singles
Two ideas with Normalize would be: 1. Make all the Pokemon on the field Normal type mons, replacing it's original effect. 2. Normalize keeps its original effect and now removes it's resistances and immunities.
Instead of straight up removing, what could be funny is for it to be a more extreme Tinted Lens. Reduces every Resistance by 1 Rank. So it's Super Effective against everything but Steel and Rock, and Ghost is now 4 times resisted instead. I think it would replace the boosted Power in this case, for obvious reasons. Like, it's stupidly broken (For status moves too btw, now Ghosts can be T-Waved), but Delcatty obliterating an with a 360BP Double Edge, and (almost?) dying from it would be absolutely hilarious.
Tbh I think the best thing to do with Normalize is to just lean into the flaw and just buff it’s stats and movepool enough to make up for it, sorta like an Archaeops or Slaking, tho not quite as extreme. With hundreds of Pokémon it’s fine to have one with literally no coverage, and it gives it a pretty unique playstyle and some fun tricks like you mentioned with sucker punch and thunder wave. And normal isn’t a necessarily bad type to be locked into other than its glaring probably with ghost, steel and rock, but that’s what you have 5 other Pokémon for. The real problem with Normalize is it’s pretty boring since Delcatty basically primarily using moves like Double Edge that are already normal type so nothing feels unique. Normal type sucker punch and thunder wave on the other hand feel like unique options, so give it more moves like that so you’re making more use of the ability. And ofc give it a much needed stat boost. It’ll never be top tier competitively that way, but it could be unique and fun to play with, and will at least fill niches. As it is now tho it’s unique features just don’t really work in any way since there’s no stats behind it and not enough unique move options to use with the ability.
I admire anyone who uses this competitively even in game. I ran through Emerald with Mightyena (420 BST) until I could transfer my Arcanine; I wouldn't say it was a great pokemon but if it's leveled up enough it can lead kill nicely in game. Mightyena also needs an evolution and maybe a 100bst boost
I think it just needs an evolution + a secondary type like fairy. I mean it has a 400 bst so it feels due for one. Would have at least 100 more bst points to work with.
Let me say that the earlier gens normalize did not have the 1.2x boost. Buff normalize is quite difficult, imo, someone comment said to make it like flying press, making every move having normal as secondary typing. But I guess this would not solve the ghost immunity, right? How would it work with a dark/normal type? It would be supper effective agaisnt ghost or they would be immune? I wonder if normalize would fit with the idea of improving the chance of triggering secondary effects? Sounds nice but I'm not sure about the concept.... But about Delcatty, I think it needs evolution to improve it stats, heavily. Around 10/15/20 for each stat. I don't like the idea of the physycals stats overpowering the special ones (or the opposite) because it would push this cat to a very obvious route, so I prefer balance between them.
If a move would have no effect or be not very effective due to becoming normal type, it will not change into a normal type move. So if you're fighting a Ghost, sucker punch will stay dark type; but if they switch a fighting type in sucker punch becomes normal type. Basically, normalize will only change a move's type to normal if it would be beneficial in against the current opponent
I think a very interesting way to buff the ability is to not only turn every move into a normal move, but let it hit every type got neutral damage. You'd have to be careful on if any other pokemon got it distributed, but I think have a mid tier Pokemon that can chunk anything regardless of typing, is something we just don't have. This leaves some strategy in the opponents court too, as you're not having to stress about your switch taking a super effective hit.
I said this in another video because what I did was (mega) Audino, setting up trick room with fake out then using swap and entrainment. It was nice because even one turn to KO delcatty was such a clear waste of time that it facilitated the strategy
Ive tried using a Delcatty team in National Dex , where I ran Choice Scarf Normalize boosted Retaliate, with frail attackers and rocks from mons like Dugtro to make the most of the gimmick, with a Slowking for safe switches :3
I have a core memory with delcatty of 8 year old me using hacks for the first time to get a level 100 delcatty at the start of the game because I liked delcatty and when I saw him not oneshot a level 20 with headbutt I ragequit and deleted the save file. I think it wasn't even a resisted hit so I have no idea how that happened.
Give it an evolution. This even gives Delcatty more bulk via Eviolite, which makes Wonder Skin more useful. That's another thing, Delcatty does have other abilities, meaning you can have coverage, just not on the same set.
Honestly the best way toake Delcatty good would be to give it a rather large stat buff and make Normalize also be Adaptability for Normal Type moves on top of what it already is. Or make Wonder Skin cause it to be Immune to all status moves and field effects(along with a sizable stat buff). Or, give it Prankster and a Fairy Typing.
If Normalize is to remain Delcatty’s signature ability, I think it might be worthy of the Transistor VS Dragon’s Maw treatment. All of its counterpart abilities can stay at 1.2x, but Normalize can be boosted to something like 1.4x. If its strongest offensive tools are already Normal type, just make the boost worth the coverage trade off.
Normalize ought to make everyone’s attacking type Normal while buffing Delcatty’s own STAB by x4 as well as making all Pokémon’s Normal attacks do x3 damage. Everyone still keeps their regular typing. Imagine this alongside a Tera Normal ESpeed Dragonite or Terrapagos. It’d definitely find a nice in VGC for sure.
It would be cool it Normalize turned every move into a normal move except for normal moves, which would have a different type depending on the delcatty and the specific move
Delcatty could definitely use an evolution, with the evo having a 500-520 BST. Maybe make it Normal/Fairy. Just change Skitty to evolve into Delcatty at around Level 20, and then have Delcatty evolve with the Moon Stone.
Normalize: your moves become normal type, regardless of what type they were originally. When the Pokemon with Normalize hits a Pokemon with a contact move, that Pokemon's type becomes Normal. Then give it Scrappy as an alternate ability and you can choose whether you want to hit ghost types vs hitting Steel/Rock types harder and changing types.
Make Normalize a field effect, every pokemon on the field gets their moves turned into normal type moves, every pokemon gets their type changed to just normal , and moves that are already normal type get doubled in power.
You could choose chaos by making Normalize convert not just outgoing but also incoming moves to the Normal type. Suddenly Delcatty would take only neutral damage from anything not rocking Mold Breaker...and there would be really annoying gimmick teams based around swapping Normalize onto a Ghost type which would then be immune to direct damage.
I absolutely love your presentations for a few months so I don't want this to come off as something negative. This might be against your whole image but can you try making a dark mode presentation? I'm usually watching you super late night early morning so the white background actually blinds me lol. Again love your content.
I was working on buffing Delcatty lately and I like everything to work on Showdown so I can't change stats. My biggest priority is to give Pokémon standout niches, so in spite of everything I decided to leave it with Normalize. After much deliberation about whether the idea was ridiculous or not, I ultimately included Last Respects in the additions to its movepool. My justfication: what does a Normal-type Last Respects look like? Delcatty pawing at its fainted allies, all "Hey. Hey, get up. Get up and do my fighting for me." Which if you squint hard enough, makes it a flavor win. I can't really justify any other extraordinarily powerful moves as in-character.
Fixing normalize: all physically contacting moves becomes normal type so it can retain the STAB sucker punch option. I also think it would be really funny if GameFreak modified the ability so there was a chance for anything the mon with Normalize hits to be converted to normal type
A potentially interesting fix would be to only have normalize work if it was an advantage. Thunder wave against ground is normal, against ghost it's electric, against golurk it's useless.
if we're only buffing normalize and ignoring Delcatty, you could make Normalize only affect contact moves? That way Delcatty can still run coverage options. Tho, if we're doing Delcatty, it would still need stats, especially since this idea leans towards Delcatty being a mixed attacker. a more extreme rework of normalize that I've thought of is "what if normalize affects every Pokemon on the field?" this would need to be combined with something to prevent cheese. Perhaps Normalize could be a contagious ability like Mummy? Maybe it has some built in "and normal type moves hit ghost types for neutral" (tho that would have potential Shedinja cheese).
An evolution could do the trick tbh. It would justify the stat buff. And there could be a slight change to Normalize where it can hit Ghost types, making it more valuable.
I would buff the Normalize boost to 1.5x. Sure, it would effectively be Adaptability, but Adaptability Sucker Punch isn't a bad thing - and being Adaptability for every move makes up for the considerable drawback. I might also introduce some random "cat Pokemon" exclusive move that Delcatty would obviously get that works for it, make it weird and niche so that mons like Incineroar won't bother running it - but weird and niche is right up Delcatty's alley. Maybe another new gender-based move as well since Delcatty seems to be designed with moves like Attract in mind. It could end up getting a niche that way as well. Finally, I would give it a stat buff, but not something ridiculous. Change the 75 ATK/DEF and 55 Sp. ATK/Sp. Def to 85 ATK/DEF and 65 (or 70) Sp. ATK/Sp. DEF. It's a huge BST boost, but it's spread out a lot which will prevent it from being too over the top. Delcatty shouldn't have high stats as it's meant to be one of those tricky support mons like Pachirisu or the fireflies. So giving it anything in the double digits wouldn't so much be buffing the pokemon but rather changing the point of the mon altogether, which would be unfortunate. So minor - but sweeping - buffs it is.
Ghost type moves should be immune to normalize. If it turned all your non-ghost type moves into normal type moves you’d still have some coverage against mons that eat normal type attacks, and it makes some sense thematically.
Normalize turns the first two attack slots into normal type. Offensive normal attacks +20% power. 75 hp, 80 atk, 70 def, 50 spatk, 65 spdef and 95 speed
if i were buffing delcatty i'd try to focus on it's utility rather than stats. having normal type status moves is a great concept and not broken at all since ghosts are immune, but it's not taken quite far enough. i think if normalise ignored all immunities to your moves other than ghost it would be really cool, so you could click normal type leech seed, spore or rage powder into a grass type or normal type will o wisp into a fire type. i'm not sure how far to take it but it would need more support moves to abuse that, otherwise it would basically just be a salazzle clone with glare that hates ghost types
Change Delcatty’s ability to Aura of Normalcy; “All attacking moves that target Delcatty are changed to normal type. Ghost type Pokemon are not effected by this ability” This effectively is a 33% buff to its defenses as STAB no longer works (unless the opponent is a normal type) as well as getting rid of its fighting weakness. The ability not working on Ghost types lets Delcatty keep its immunity and prevents skill swap shenanigans from being completely unbeatable
Normalize could make it so that normal moves could hit ghost types (maybe even super effectively if you wanna make it real crazy), would solve the issue of being walled
The answer to Delcatty being absolute trash is to introduce an evolution or do what they did for Linoone and give it Belly Drum Extreme Speed. The amount of turbo buffing it needs is just too high for a generational base stat buff upgrade to reasonably cover. Maybe the new evo gets Fairy type, or something off the wall like Dark or Ghost. Normalize either needs to be buffed to grant more power compared to Pixilate and the like to make up for being Offensive Normal or have a Scrappy effect to hit Ghosts. Maybe Normalize just ignores type effectiveness entirely. Brainstorming time. Alliecatty. Normal/Ghost. The Stray Cat pokemon. Evolves from Delcatty at level 42 if it knows Shadow Sneak. Hp: 75 Atk: 105 Def: 75 SAtk: 70 SDef: 70 Spd: 105 Cute Charm -> Adaptability/Super Luck/Infiltrator/Tough Claws/Opportunist
I saw my son drawing Simisear and Delcatty today. I asked him why he wasn't drawing more popular Pokemon like Rillaboom or Meowscarada. He said shove a toilet plunger down a nu-Pokemon fans throat, because it is clear they are full of shit! I told him that was not how we use toiler plungers in this household! He not even toilet bleach is a strong enough poison-type to cleanse the GameFreak serf menace, and that we require Zyklon B, except a form of Zyklon B that is actually poisonous unlike the real version! What should I do?
Give the normalize'd moves the same effects of flying press, having both normal and the respective type. Now every move have a 1.2x boost but on counterpart ghost-types are inmune.
Two ideas: 1) All damaging moves that hit Delcatty become Normal type, potentially losing their STAB in the process. 2) While Delcatty is on the field, all moves used only get STAB if the user is a Normal type.
I feel like normalize should allow normal moves to hit ghosts, increase the bonus to 40% and that this mon needs a third stage evolution. With that I think it would be a cool niche being able to para ground types and other weird type changing interactions.
2013, BW2 era, the video is still up in NuggetBridge’s channel
Yeah I was expecting that to get a mention in the video lol
Yep
Was messing around in gen 8's natdex AG a while back and ran into a fair few of those sets in low ladder. Assuming they didn't all figure it out on their own, it's interesting to think that Wolfie's set from 2013 was still influencing people in approx. 2020
@@CanTabOfWisdom tbf wolfey wasnt the first to do the strategy, just the first to do good in a tournament with it
My idea for buffing Normalize in a way that could make sense but still works with its original concept is make all non Normal-type moves have the Normal type as a secondary typing.
I just had the idea of making Normalized moves deal 2x damage to make up for absolutely no coverage
Give it extreme speed and belly drum
I was going to say the same thing
I just spammed that metronome-esque ability where I borrowed moves from my team.

I actually really like Delcatty's design and Normalize+Silk Scarf hits surprisingly in-game, so it's a shame its stats leaves so much to be desired in competitive.
At only 400 BST as a Stage 1 Pokemon, I feel like we can raise the stats by a reasonable amount, so here's the new one:
HP: 80
Attack: 75
Defense: 65
Special Attack: 85
Special Defense: 75
Speed: 90
In terms of moveset, it's got pretty decent coverage already so I'll probably just give it Slack Off for some reliable recovery
Those impending apocalypses hit different)

Normalize was also bugged in earlier mystery dungeon games, it made the standard attack become normal type too so you got STAB with it
Absolute Normal: All moves become typeless, dealing neutral damage to all types. Also keep the 1.2 damage multiplier (or higher, Delcatty needs some help).
The idea revolves around the concept of "normal" being "average", so much average it ignores all types to become truly mediocre.
Del-Larry
I alone am the normal one
Terapagos/Stellar lite
But then it loses stab on everything.
Yeah the 20% boost it gets from normalize is way too light.. I say make normalize give a 30-50% power bonus. It’s the only way it becomes viable imo.
They can make Purugly faster than Latios for no clear reason but cannot give the same luxury to a "rare Moon Stone" evolution Pokemon.
I think there was a video showing that you can make its stats work mainly by giving it far more support movepool options especially via level up.
Hey, Gen I Persian is faster than Purugly
I detest Pokémon's speed creep tbh. Roaring Moon, Dragapult, Zacian-C, and Calyrex-Shadow Rider have no right to be as fast as they are, and their hereto unseen offensive power makes building for them a chore.
The worst part is that I like all of these Pokémon except Dragapult :(
All it needs is entrainment and it's a great and interesting mon.
@@thatonegaminglatias4345dragapult definitely has a right to be as fast as it is. Looking at its design you can tell it’s a fast as pokemon
Skitty in base Pokémon: 💩
Skitty in PMD: Fury swipe goes brrrrr
Foul play isn’t dexited
@@mr.sniffly5297Me First is
@@MaahirMomtaz12 oh I can’t read
Isn't Me First priority (essentially a weird Sucker Punch)? Nevermind, that would be a good buff for Me First.
Taking a page from a pokemon tabletop's version of normalize here:
Remove the 1.2x boost, but all moves this pokemon uses now deal neutral damage, bypassing resists and immunities.
Simple, but effective.
Delcatty *desperately* needs a regional evolution or something to make it more interesting both conceptually and competitively
Normal/Fairy evolution
@@ksoundkaiju9256*slaps fairy type on it* problem solved
It needs contests be a thing once again.
It's too pretty not to be fairy, or meta
Something with an extra 60 points in added Bst.
delcatty probably needs a full on evo with alright stats (ranging from 80-90) with high speed.base 130 sounds good because the nature of delcatty is that its frail and its pure normal. buffing normalize so that the boost is 1.3 also seems pretty reasonable, because it would be good but not broken. also giving it some more status moves like parting shot can be good, and even sd, which could potentially make it mess with a lower tier at least. i also honestly think that if we want to get rid of the ghost problem, we’d have to make normalize effect ghost types, but ghosts should atleast resist the normal moves. thank u for listening to my ted talk
That an I think taunt would be a great addition I'd say make Normalize deal typeless damage with a 50% power boost (so, like Protean, but more balanced), and maybe transfer some defense into attack. Otherwise, pretty good!
0:53 galvanize is another normal changing ability signature to alola geodude line
Change normalize to this: everything becomes normal type. Not only your moves but also your opponent's moves, and even your opponents typing as well. (And your own type, if you arent normal type already)
thats pretty funny i like that. idk how well its work but thats the kinda silly shenanigans delcatty should get up to
*itd
Sure does fit the reason it gets it with the whole Delcatty takes everything at its own pace thing. Drags its opponents into it too.
@@meloelebi1996 It might even become viable in doubles too. Imagine a tanky Pokemon with no weakness to hit. Or a glass cannon ally that now hits everything for neutral damage always
"takes Aerilate" cracked me up, tyvm
I have a soft spot for Delcatty and Skitty, ever since I played as Skitty in Rescue Team way back when. Shame they have no potential
Bro the damn 12 v 6 spirit fight in GDC with the Delcatty lead. Not ashamed to say that took me many tries to beat. 😅
I would say a Delcatty evo would be a good way to buff it
Maybe making normalize more interesting by making more moves that work like flying press where they deal damage with both types, leaving a coverage type for delcatty to use.
Wouldn't change the fact that Dark-types ignore it.
Shedinja.
That could also be a new ability.
If they make Delcatty evolve and normalize hit ghost types, I truly believe fake out + last resort can be a crazy fun late game cleaner
I want Delcatty's neck pillow
fun fact: silk scarf normalize fake out + sucker punch is actually incredibly strong priority even compared to mons with actual attacking stats. I feel like buffing normalize's damage boost and increasing its speed but not its attack would play into that.
Had an idea similar to someone else's post, but here is this for a thought:
Normalize: Upon activating, causes the Normalized Terrain.
My suggestion for normalise is pretty much the same as a lot of suggestions here:
Turns all moves to normal type, gives damaging moves 1.1X damage, can hit ghost types, ignores resistances (alternatively: deals double damage to resistances)
That’s how Elite Redux changed it in their latest update, and like… it works really well.
Just makes the fact it was a main character in Pokemon mystery dungeon more confusing
Delcatty screams "I need an evolution".
Then at that point it can get something unique perhaps, like giraffarig did with its evo and armour tail.
Being able to use evolite with so many supporting options helps a bunch too.
With entrainment, Delcatty gets super interesting. Imo, thats all it needs.
Top tier Mystery Dungeon Pokemon right here.
Mystery Dungeon chads rise
*Gives it a Normal/Ghost evolution and makes it so Normalise ALSO changes the opponent's attacks to Normal type* XD
...Ok that's probably a little too busted, even if the foe's attacks being normaled only happens conditionally (like if the cat is using status or attacking moves) but I do think a Normal/Ghost evolution would work wonders for it (would justify the additional stats easily) and Normalise really does deserve to be tweaked in some way to actually make it worthwhile (I really like the 'bypasses the type chart in general' idea since that kinda fits the vibe: no resists or immunity, just pure typelessness blasting from the cat
Buffs:
Normalize: All moves are type less "normal". (moves cannot hit for super effective nor be resisted or immune)
Stats +65
Attack:65->+10->75
Spec A: 55->+20->75
Spec D: 55->10->65
Speed 90->+25->115
Total: 70 / 75 / 65 / 75 / 65 / 115
I think a good buff would be to make Normalize work like No Guard, by which I mean not only its attacks become normal, but also any attack that targets it. I feel like that would be a fair trade for Normalize essentially gutting Delcatty's coverage options.
Give Delcatty Sucker Punch. I don't care how off-theme it is, it's a hilarious move to give something with no speed
Personally I’d say make it change moves to normal, but double their power. It fits with the old theme of giving insane abilities like huge power to trash stat mons
Normalize would be cracked in Inverse Battles where Normal is the best offensive type
I think after you do that you can buff its stats if that's not too strong
don't touch the stats, makes normalize double the power of the moves. GG
I think Delcatty would be a good candidate for a regional forme. Maybe a Normal/Fairy with access to Pixilate and Normalize.
Why does Delcatty have 90 speed when PURUGLY has 112 speed?
I kinda like the idea of normalize making all moves on the field turn into normal type moves.
Could be fun in doubles and could be a way of messing with pokemon in singles
Two ideas with Normalize would be:
Delcatty is already top meta in my heart
A good buff to normalize would be that all pokemon and moves on the field are counted as mono normal type when this pokemon in out.
I think it just needs an evolution + a secondary type like fairy. I mean it has a 400 bst so it feels due for one. Would have at least 100 more bst points to work with.
Give it part ghost and enjoy skill swap.
Delcatty when it sees a ghost type: 😱😱😱
Normalize trap, a strategy only Wolfe Glick is crazy enough to run in a tournament
At least it's still cute.
I love this pokemon so much
if we're only buffing normalize and ignoring Delcatty, you could make Normalize only affect contact moves?
Revalationmons pill- only the first move slot becomes normal type
Delcatty is my sister's favourite Pokemon.
What if Normalize only effected non attacking moves? Would let it keep it's twave niche.
Delcatty managed to get champed in run and bun so...
also skitty is insane in MD games
Change Delcatty’s ability to Aura of Normalcy; “All attacking moves that target Delcatty are changed to normal type. Ghost type Pokemon are not effected by this ability” This effectively is a 33% buff to its defenses as STAB no longer works (unless the opponent is a normal type) as well as getting rid of its fighting weakness. The ability not working on Ghost types lets Delcatty keep its immunity and prevents skill swap shenanigans from being completely unbeatable
I always thought Delcatty was designed to be an staple OU in Contests
Normalize could make it so that normal moves could hit ghost types (maybe even super effectively if you wanna make it real crazy), would solve the issue of being walled
Pre buff Delcatty's BST is a measly 10 above HERDIER, and even then, that's because Herdier has less stats wasted in sp. attack.

Am i the only one that thought Delcatty was an eevee-oulution when i was younger
1. Eevee-Lution is the official term.
2. Yes.
Normalize would be kinda interesting if it worked for incoming attacks aswell
Give the normalize'd moves the same effects of flying press, having both normal and the respective type.
Now every move have a 1.2x boost but on counterpart ghost-types are inmune.
Two ideas:
1) All damaging moves that hit Delcatty become Normal type, potentially losing their STAB in the process.
