Clodsire actually handles Archaludon and Pelipper really well, being able to haze out Archaludon’s buffs, acid spray for your teammates, and with After You you can cheese Torkoal teams by clicking after you on your scarf Pokémon as you speed tie with Torkoal
If I had a nickel for every Gen 4 Electric type cope Pokemon I had, I'd have 2 nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice. Surely Gen 10 will bring us the Electivire buffs we need.
The laugh at the end was super charming. Haven't touched VGC since Gen 7, play a lot of Singles though. And I do really enjoy the use of "cope" Pokemon. I try every so often to plug and play with my favs: Luxray, Charizard, Beeheyem etc in OU. Don't need to be a genius to figure out how that tends to go. Best of luck in the Grand Challenge!
THANK YOU for mentioning the speed drop from torrocat to incineroar, i brought this up to people who cried that mega garchomp loses only 10 points of speed upon mega evolution (despite the fact people managed to make rampardos a WAY SLOWER pokemon work with rock polish and mega garchomp physically hits harder)
I used my first Luxray in Legends Arceus and they’ve always been a great in game. But it is criminal that it took until Indigo Disc to get a good Physical Electric move. Flareon, my favorite Eevee, got the same short end of the stick, taking forever to get a decent STAB move.
Running weird choices and doing well with them is a delightful feeling, especially if it psychologically damages opponents who don't know how to grok off-meta choices
Running offense clod as nidoqueen at home is certainly a choice no one would see coming but it does tend to hit like a wet noodle into anything that isn’t 4x weak. Also I’ve seen legit toracat usage a couple of times in formats where incin is really good so you effectively have two of them. It wasn’t good but it was a thing.
A wise FGC player once said the goal of gimmicks isn't to win but to go home knowing you ruined at least one person's tournament run, and I think that's something special
My VGC cope pokemon is Oranguru. Instruct it such a good move not to mention a pokemon with immunity to fake out (Thanks Inner Focus) allowing it to hold the mental herb giving it a one time resistance to taunt and is fairly bulky with investment has to be one of the best trick room setters in the game. This pokemon HAS to be viable in some format at some point, I'm just not good enough at making or piloting teams to prove it.
I want to say from personal experience this Reg. Charizard melts through teams. Sun, Life Orb, Tera Fire and Solar Power does scary damage. Especially when clicking Overheat to nuke a specific Pokémon. I even remember hitting a neutral target with my second Overheat and still oneshot it

In Reg G, I wanted to make a TR Calyrex Ice team work My friend and I were team crafting and I didn’t really like Rillaboom on the team but added Incine on the 5th slot. Then we thought, “what if there was another incineroar that’d be perfect.” proceeded to build AV incine alongside full support Torracat and it was awesome
On Clodsire: I immediately sought out paldean wooper.... And immediately swept the game basically with it and fuecoco alone. Like flawless sweep. I never once struggled. Obviously that is a single player experience, but it's so insane to me that a lower bst nidoking is THIS good. All the hazards, toxic, tons of high damage moves with decent stats, and the ability/typing is amazing for Paldea. Clodsire is 12/10, Quag is still a respectable 11.25/10 with his recent buff

not much of a competitive player because thinking makes my brain hurt, but in my last gen 7 casual playthrough i decided to use eviolite torracat rather than incineroar because i just like its design better, and the higher speed and slightly better resistance profile in exchange for no held item and less/worse move options definitely makes for an interesting experience! not a better one, but for sure an interesting one
I've always thought Torracat seemed interesting as an option but was always kind of overshadowed by Incin. It's a fast intimidater with many of the good core options that Incin has in its movepool, also having one of the actual best BST + Ability for a middle evolution starter. But it's held back by its mixed attacking stats forcing it to be quite fraile without eviolite and weak on the offensive. I shudder to think about what might've happened if Incin kept this speed tier in exchange for Sp. Atk though. People yap about Alola's low speed tiers but I think this one was a good decision lmao
Luxray mentioned I've always wished it had either bulk or speed it would actually be a pretty niche but cool intimidator if the stats were distributed better. Guts will never really be viable as long as Ursaluna is around.

I lead with it, and nobody seems to respect it cause they don't shield the first Superpower, and then their Fighting resist loses half of their health. Then they either switch to preserve HP in which case I counter-switch, or they stay to take advantage of my Falinks' lowered stats, and I switch to a high-damage fast move mon and eat another quarter of their health for free while they scramble to switch.
My personal Honorable mention Charjabug in Doubles UU(no seriously) Eviolite makes it quite bulky, and combined with moves like Lightscreen, and sticky webs(or string shot but with my partner mon for it, scarfed meloetta, i usually outspeed the first two mons anyway) Battery increases sp attack dmg by 30% making it a neat mon to use with ur special nukers, prolly better ones than my Meloetta but ive gotten some very funni wipe outs from Hypervoice Stab, or Tera fighting Blast.
i have used a sunny day murkrow and charcoal charizard with solar power and tera fire team and although it could be a bit hard to get going, it worked pretty well all things considered- though there's still probably better options,, hisui typhlosion comes to mind, eruption is just too goated
