    Your audio is actually super interesting in that your heart is clearly audible.

      I never noticed that. I am sure it speeds up a bit after a hook up.

      @@OutsideChronicles For sure. That was the only confirmation that what I was hearing was a heartbeat. I was hearing it on my livingroom subwoofer and then threw on a set of cans to listen closer.

    Man they fight like hell, love it! I do some peacock bass fishing and use 3X tippet , for what i've seen in this vid it surely will work best for your bigger smallies.

      When you go up to 3x with Tenkara, do you ever push the limits of the rod? Another person said they broke their Tenkara rod when they upped the tippet. The tippet was stronger than the end section of the rod.

      Outside Chronicles ...No, i become more carreful and lean the towards the fish to let it fight the tippet more than the rod. If i notice the fish is not that strong i gradually lift the rod. If no, i 'll keep it leaned (about 45 degree angle) till it tires out.

      @@OutsideChronicles my only rod that is rated for that strong tippet(3x) is the Nissin flying dragon carp rod, otherwise its my salmon 28ft fixed line rod rated for 10-16lb test

    What line did you use?

    • @OutsideChronicles
      @OutsideChronicles  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I usually use the braided tenkara line and then 2-3x leader for smallmouth. I have also used level line with good success.

    Do u just cast fly out and let it sit or are u moving fly along in current ? Great video btw!

    • @OutsideChronicles
      @OutsideChronicles  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both! For bass I usually have a woolly bugger, so I cast, let it drop and then give it some play. If trout or steelhead, I try to get a dead drift holding the rod almost above the fly. Tenkara fishing is fun and easy!

    What size rod did you use 7:3? and is that a 3x tippet?

      In this video I used the Wild River Tenkara Rod (www.wildwaterflyfishing.com/products/wild-water-fly-fishing-12-foot-tenkara-package) with 5x tippet. I alos use the Tenkara Rod Co Grand Teton for Smallmouth and Steelhead.

    What fly's were you using?

    • @OutsideChronicles
      @OutsideChronicles  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Matthew Eckerson my go to is black woolly buggers for smallmouth. I have also had good success with sneaky peats when the water gets warmer.

      @@OutsideChronicles Awesome! I think I may get into Tenkara fishing. Can standard fly line be used as the line?

    • @OutsideChronicles
      @OutsideChronicles  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Matthew Eckerson there are two options, the standard Tenkara line is a braided line with a mono leader. The other option is called a level line that is just fluorocarbon. The fluoro sinks faster and is easier to cast in the wind. I fish the braided line most of the time unless in deep water.

      Get level line for your fly line. You can also used furled leaders, but you can cut level line to any length. any line will do for your leader. I just use cheap mono, 2-8 lbs.

    What's the point of bringing a net if you're just going to let them go anyways?

    • @OutsideChronicles
      @OutsideChronicles  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It stresses the fish less if you can land it and release it quickly.

    • @johnfarmer4099
      @johnfarmer4099 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OutsideChronicles You mean after they get completely stressed out fighting for their life while you bring them in, you decide that you are an ethical person by putting them in a net while you tear the hook out of their mouth to put them back in the water? Stop the hypocrisy BS.
