  • Took my truck in today to get the dome / map lights fixed. Turns out it was a loose/disconnected connector. They fixed that and said that the rust and loose upholstery is normal... i had them take pics and submit for review anyway just to see if i can get some attention on this for all of us.

Most if not all Australia, South Africa and my Kenya market one has the tropical coast corrosion protection, CJHAH. That probably includes the black coating the prop and drive shafts. It is probably an option to consider when ordering one if the NA dealerships have it.

It's illegal in California and a few other states so Ford NA doesn't even bother offering it, however if seen some people selling it on eBay, part no. (HU7J M7C80 AA). The regular wax coatings that most manufacturers use in the US makes it look nice and new for a few years, but eventually accelerates corrosion once it starts to come off, which is why Ford doesn't use it.

Two different types of metal used & some are more prone to rust. It depends on whether you can take steel wool (or a soft scrub pad) & remove what’s basically surface rust or whether the rust has splotched into welds, seams, or cross members on the frame.
We don’t salt the roads here in CA, but we get a lot of moisture in the mountains, so I do coat my trucks.

I went and looked at Ranger raptor today and saw loose leather on front drivers side and back drivers side seats. Definitely not normal. Truck had 5miles. Should have looked like that. Also just saw someone post a few photos of their new truck they just picked up and the interior photo they posted showed loose leather on drivers seat as well. They didn’t mention it but you could see it very clearly in the photo. Mines coming in next week. Hope the seat is tight. If not I’ll be blowing my lid on them before I sign anything.

I work as a product support engineer for VW so I have a bit of in sight into the warranty world.
I assume Ford uses a different supplier for the prop shaft and driveshafts for the US Ranger Raptor than the EURO Ranger Raptor.
This could be for multiple reasons like emissions, cost effectiveness, etc.
In the case of your other issues with the seats, etc. They will most likely replace the seat for you (they absolutely should).
Unfortunately, if they compare your seat to others on the lot and it is the same then it potentially may not and you'll have to wait till
a interior Product Support Engineer sees enough claims come in regarding the seat leather being loose until they present this to the factory.
This is all assuming it works the same as VW lol.
I think you complaining about all these issues is completely okay, you paid for a product and the product should be up to standard for the kind of price point these are at.
I hope it all works out in the end, I am eyeballing one of these myself.

Considering a ranger raptor myself. You may have mentioned it in a prior video as being on your “to do list”… it would be useful to do a performance (and other notables) comparison between using regular/87 octane and premium gas. Are there any parameters to provision or does the truck just “figures it out” relative to spark advance/ retardant….thanks!✌️

The doors are a pian. I have a 2023 GMC sierra AT4 and at first you had to close them a bit harder than i liked. But now they have beoken in and i apply just the right pressure. The only issue is the stop points are tough to over come which is nice for me. But qhen i have people ride in it they over come the stops by slamming the crap out of my doors. I hate having passengers in my truck now.
The seat is also not normal that looks like a bad install. Also avoid using your seat as a slide and alide your but out of it. You will wear it out quickly that way. Not saying you do that but just a heads up.

It's interesting to me that they think any rust on a 60K vehicle is ok. For that price the answer is simply no. Now whether this surface rust has any impact on the vehicles service life, might be questionable. The average service lifespan of a vehicle is probably 15 years, (which is crazy to me) and the driveshaft probably will hold up for 15 years even with rust. Now for me the lifespan of a new vehicle is forever... so this is completely unacceptable. Curious if you paid over MSRP and if so how much if you don't mind sharing. I just talked to a dealer near me who has a Ranger Raptor, they are asking $15,000 over msrp.

I ordered mine March 21 and the dealership I went to sold to me for sticker price. Call around to find a dealer that will sell at MSRP. I called 3 other dealerships before finding one that sold at sticker price.

They portal ford sent your rust comment went straight to junk mail. Dodge had the same problem with the $100K+ Hellcat, rusted pieces all over. No remedy provided. US mfg’s buy bulk to get the best price, that driveshaft probably sat in a pallet outside waiting to be used for production since last year. Most Asian and European mfg’s use just in time mfg products, so no rust on their products. They just don’t provide as good of rust protection over the frame, Toyota Tacoma frame rot.

agreed, and I plan to take the quality into my own hands for the rust because I'm not sure I trust ford to do it, they would probably just paint over it and say it's fixed.

Seat leather is way too loose. That will look atrocious in no time. Save your dealer tickets so you can prove that it was too loose from day one and they can’t fight you about it in a few thousand miles when it starts looking like a 10 year old seat bottom.

It is such a shame that American cars, in America for that matter, have such terrible interior upholstery. It’s always sacky and wrinkly. The designers need to go out and drive a German car for a month and get use to how upholstery should be. It shouldn’t be this difficult.

    • @flaberdoopin
      @flaberdoopin  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I am with you completely with you in comparison to a German vehicle. The interior in my M3 was perfect and I bough it 8 years old. I did have the Focus RS and that interior was great, but it was built in the German production line.
