What did you guys think of my first time buying makeup?? :O Be sure to SUBSCRIBE so you don't miss the next installment where I learn how to give myself a full glam look makeover! :)
I just started watching this channel..but one thing I've noticed that I really like, is that Michelle always let's whoever is in the video with her shine. Usually when you watch these channels, the "host" (so to speak) tends to always want the camera attention on him/her. Michelle is perfectly comfortable letting whoever is in the video with her do their thing without her being a camera hog. I know it's a random thing to notice, but I appreciate that. She shows her friends respect.
I'm a straight 35 yo guy, married and no idea why I'm still watching these videos while my wife isn't home. Tbh I watch every video that comes out... But I'll never admit it irl!!!!!
When you put it in contact with your eyes bacteria gets in the tube and stays in there so it's possible to get an eye infection if you've had it for too long so please replace it! I wouldn't want that to happen to anyone!
ikr? Mascara is supposed to be replaced every 3-4 months. If it smells weird or has a change in consistency (ie thick & goopy or dry), it is time to toss it. Do not add anything to your mascara to try to thin it out. If it is that bad, toss it. And pumping your mascara puts excess air in the tube, which can make it go bad faster, so try to avoid that as much as possible. Just a couple general rules for mascara. IMO, drug store mascara is a way better value than higher end, especially with how fast it can become bad. My faves are the L'Oreal Lash Paradise, Maybelline Full & Soft, and Covergirl Clump Crusher. They are great for length and definition, with a little extra volume as well. Much more natural than some mascaras. I hate clumpy spider lashes, personally. My personal guide for what to splurge on (if you can afford it) and what to save on: Eye shadow: Splurge if you can afford it. Many high end formulas have better formulas, but some drugstore options are getting much better. Lip Products: Save. No need to spend a lot of money on lippies when there are so many great drugstore options. NYX is great for lip products. Foundation: Splurge if you can, but if you cannot afford it, there are decent drugstore options depending on skin type & shade range. Concealer: Either. Concealer is very personal and can depend on your skin type, color ranges, and what you're using it for (ie under eyes, cover blemishes, redness, & dark areas). Bronzer: Save. There are many good drugstore options. Contour: Splurge. More shade options and better formulas. Blush: Save. MANY great drugstore options in many shades and formulas. Eyeliner: Splurge if you can. They will generally apply smoother and last longer, though brand is a big factor as well. There are a few good drugstore options in many different formulas (ie gel, liquid, pencil, twist up, felt tip). These are just personal opinions based on my experience with makeup over the last 22 years of wearing makeup and recommendations based on makeup artists & enthusiasts opinions in articles and on TH-cam. Everyone has different opinions and different preferences. Do what works best and feels right for you.
I love this! Thank you so much for doing this. I struggle with makeup, and usually everyone recommends really expensive stuff and isn’t really helpful, so having an MUA teach someone who knows basically nothing about makeup helped me follow along real well, and I’m glad it was done on a budget. I’ll refer back to this video for a while. Can’t wait to see you do your makeup.
Like Sephora is terrifying at peak times. It is so overwhelming. If there aren't as many people and the worker doesn't feel pushy,I feel like I can sort of open up and try to find stuff. Usually though I just leave anxious and overwhelmed.
I recently went to Sephora when it was almost empty and i could feel the worker judging me. She didn't greet us, look at us or ask us if we needed anything, but at the same time, she made the security guard watch us, she probably expected us to steal. I know this stuff usually happens to people of color, but i'm white and i was just dressed very casually and didn't have any makeup on. I woke up at 4 AM that morning and I was there because i picked somebody up from the airport and had some time to kill between trains. It's nasty how they profile you.
The real techniques brushes actually have their intended purpose printed on the handle near the bottom if you get confused. :-) sometimes you might use it for things it's not technically made for but that might help! And generally the orange brushes are "base and finishing" brushes (foundation, concealer, powder, etc), pink is like the "toppers" category (contour, bronzer, blush, highlight, etc) and purple is for eyes :-)
She said for drug store makeup, which is cheaper at ulta beacause of the cupons, she didnt say ulta is a drug store 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ULTA HAS A DRUGSTORE SECTION
lol the powerpuff girl palette isn't kids makeup. its that brands regular (adult) eyeshadows just with special edition packaging. decent quality, don't toss it!
I've probably seen this video around 30 times these past few months. I recently got into makeup more serious so I referenced this video so much on things I need to get. I still need a few more things, but I'm pretty satisfied with where I'm at now, both with collection and skills for a beginner. Thanks to both Michelle and Olivia for giving us this
I buy so much stuff from NYX since it's cruelty free and amazing quality for the price. I do agree with skincare being important. I usually look for natural foundation, and use aloe vera based cleanser and toner before applying makeup. It makes a huge difference, especially aloe since it's moisturising in the dry areas, but also helps reduce acne in the oily areas since I also have combination skin. For that, I go to Andalou Naturals. But yes, NYX, Wet N Wild, etc are really great affordable brands to check out because no one needs to buy everything high end.
I'm really excited for these because I have never seen a more relatable makeup video. It feels good to know I'm not the only one who is completely lost when it comes to makeup and it's a great way to learn by starting from the basics. :D
I'm a straight 35 yo guy, married and no idea why I'm still watching these videos while my wife isn't home. Tbh I watch every video that comes out... But I'll never admit it irl!!!!!
I have never seen a video that describes me so well. I am honestly Michelle. Practically all my makeup is old and comes from other people, and I pretty much never wear it. I don't understand what half of it is, and I just have my cousin give me makeovers whenever she comes over.
I loved this! You got so many of my holy grails! No highlighter tho?? There’s a really good one from the drugstore by Wet n Wild called precious petals that looks great on medium/dark skin tones! And it’s only like four dollas!
I love how this sort of turned into a makeup 101! It's really hard to get started with makeup if you don't have any help, I figured that out the hard way lol
I'm relieved I'm not the only late 20 something who is has never bought any makeup in life. Before this video I actually bought it for the first time because I have a lot of interviews coming up.
I love this video idea! More people should do beauty videos that are less experienced. I find these videos much more interesting since personally I'm not that good haha
I really enjoyed this video. The MUA is fantastic. I love how she was very knowledgeable and don’t have to break the bank to look good or a better version of you.
Wow Michelle Khare, You bought some nice make up goods with Olivia. Olivia is giving you a good support Michelle to do your make up. She is a good friend to you.
Not me, but I use mascara from lush which has no harmful chemicals for my eyelashes. Changing every 6 weeks is crazy especially if you dont use mascara every day.
@@BleedingLiar17 all the more reason, because it has very little perservatives, so it may grow bacteria faster. The need to switch is due to bacteria growing in the tube, not due to "dangerous" chemicals. I prefer travel size mascaras as they start to run out around the 3 month mark, which is another recommendation I've heard.
@@sonjaimmonen6610 i agree on the bacteria aspect. Dont believe the bs of 3 or 2 month expiry, its an unnecessary waste of money unless you use mascara daily. Also i dont use most mascara because of the harsh chemicals due to loss of my eyelashes, please dont assume my reasons for hating most mascara because of harsh chemicals while ignoring that i said for MY eyelashes.
Years old video, but I just wanted to comment that I like this video because it's not some beauty guru who might have ulterior motives for suggesting a product. This feels like a friend (who happens to be a professional MUA) giving her friend the best advice she can.
Makeup is a nice way of pampering yourself and showing your creativity. No one "needs" makeup. But if you want to wear it and learn about it I say go for it!!
Girl... this idea that you have to "take time" and "invest in yourself" is ridiculous. The idea that women are better with makeup is ridiculous!! You should do it because it's fun, and because it can be an accessory... but NEVER be embarrassed that you know nothing about it or feel like you need to put more "effort" into your physical appearance because you feel like you have to fit a society's idea of "correct" physical appearance. Accessory, not a "fix." :) I'm really glad you all spoke abut diversity though. Representation does matter!!
latronqui But evryone should take time to working out and have healthy eating habits because it's good for our general health, is beyond physical appearence.Make up as SlavaZone said is more like an accesory, it's optional, you do it because you like it and all that. I wear make up only when i go out at night or if i feel like wearing mascara during the day, but other than that i don't in the daily basis because i don't want to for several reasons.
Exercise and eating a good diet is all related to health. It makes your body function better now so that you won't be fighting health issues as you age. We should eat and exercise for ourselves. Make up is very often used to change your physical appearance to fit society's standard of beauty. Or, it's used as an accessory as the other response said. But more likely to fit how society says we should look. Ask anyone and they'll say they like to wear makeup for themselves, but the moment they're challenged to not wear it, the truth of insecurities comes out and they would rather stay home than be seen in public without makeup. It's really sad, because all these "health" and "beauty" magazines out there taint exercise and healthy eating by equating it directly with aesthetics and getting a thigh gap and a small waist; they all focus on looking smaller and prettier according to current society's idea of ideal. So I can see how you see them as all related, but I challenge you to think unconventionally, and step back out of our culture and recognize that health and beauty ARE separate. Everyone should focus on health for longevity and quality of life. Beauty is just subjective, ever changing, and an accessory. :)
Just discovered your videos from the "Trained Like a Ballerina" video... and happy to see my girl OLIVIA! Olivia and I trained in ballet together at one point! Love to see her shining (even though this was already 5 years ago)!
Your arms look amazing in this video and props to you for stepping out of your comfort zone and learning new things :) your channel is always so inspirational
ik some people have a crap ton of makeup but i just have 1. bb cream (bc its literally foundation and sunscreen mixed into one so its better) 2. eyebrow pencil (u can make them at home so i dont even buy it) 3. sponge 4. lipstick
That Powerpuff Girl one is NOT A KID'S MAKEUP!!! It's a legit eyeshadow palette from the Korean brand Peripera and I am absolutely horrified that they threw it away!
I can't believe you threw away the Powerpuff Girls palette 😢 it's not kid's makeup, it's actual proper good makeup by a popular Korean brand called Peripera. They just did a collaboration with Powerpuff Girls. Like when Mac did a collab with Trolls, that didn't make it children's makeup. I actually really wanted one of the eyeshadow palettes because I love the Powerpuff Girls, but they were sold out a lot of places and expensive with shipping from Korea to the UK where they were in stock. I got a liptint instead. It's got Blossom on it and it's my new favourite lip product full stop. Please can you look into kbeauty more before just dismissing a perfectly usable eyeshadow palette. It only came out like last year! It's not like your mascara. I know I'm a month late to this video, but it just killed me a bit inside. If it's not actually in a landfill now (ps eyeshadow palettes can be sanistised and given to women's shelters who would probably appreciate any kind of makeup) then I would legit pay you for that. But like for real you just got given an eyeshadow palette and you didn't think to Google it? I get some of it is in Korean but I guess that we are just different in that sense because I rarely use anything without knowing what it is or where it's from.
latronqui yep, you put in near your eyes often, if you barely use it and it's fine, then you can keep it longer. But if you use it super often you could get an eye infection from keeping an old mascara
What did you guys think of my first time buying makeup?? :O Be sure to SUBSCRIBE so you don't miss the next installment where I learn how to give myself a full glam look makeover! :)

Michelle Khare first time??? Wow.
Michelle Khare HI i always thought you wore makeup
What about the part of the vídeo when you put the make up on and we can see the final result? I was soooo curious xD
You’re such a natural beauty I’m excited to see what makeup looks you’ll be wearing 😌 love your videos
I really like Olivia. She also speaks very well. Probably could be a good teacher for tutorials and things if she wanted to go into that.
yeah like her too
she does tutorials on her channels now and they´re great and super informative.

You're absolutely right!
She's su humble and friendly
"So you have a makeup bag?" The glimmer of hope in Olivia's eyes.
Anechka LMFAO IKR
The glimmer of hope and then her eyes turning dead once the stuff was dumped out HAHAHA X'D I LOST IT

Michelle ur such a natural beauty you don’t even need it, if I was you I’d never wear makeup either. Such pretty hair and skin!
When she's so gorgeous she doesn't need makeup anyway 💓
I wished she had done this with Saf. I’m waiting on them to do another video together. But, like, I’m glad I found Olivia.

ULTA IS NOT A DRUG STORE. They sell both prestige makeup and cheap makeup
Soccerskills05 THANK YOU. Like Ulta is my favorite place.

I'm so happy to hear I am not alone!! :)
I just kept staring at Olivia's makeup... Great video! I loved it!!
Excited for the next one!!
i had no idea michelle doesn’t wear makeup...she’s seriously such a natural beauty
I love Olivia so much! She is so funny and so knowledgable when it comes to the things she does. Her humor and kindness is so admirable.
WHERES THE HIGHLIGHTER???????????
guess u gotta watch the next video to find out...
I buy so much stuff from NYX since it's cruelty free and amazing quality for the price. I do agree with skincare being important. I usually look for natural foundation, and use aloe vera based cleanser and toner before applying makeup. Cruelty free is the way
I bought my first makeup yesterday and it was the body shop and nyx too haha
HOW DO YOU LOOK THAT GOOD WITH NO MAKEUP? Im shook.
Olivia is the prettiest person I've ever seen, I literally cant take my eyes off her
I love Olivia! She is the BEST GUEST EVER!
I'm really excited for these because I have never seen a more relatable makeup video. It feels good to know I'm not the only one who is completely lost when it comes to makeup and it's a great way to learn by starting from the basics. :D
With or without make-up - You look stunning either way!
Its great to see a beautiful makeup artist actually do an amazing job. Her work is great and not too rough like most ig muas.
I'm a straight 35 yo guy, married and no idea why I'm still watching these videos while my wife isn't home. Tbh I watch every video that comes out... But I'll never admit it irl!!!!!
I guess you are 37 now
Great video Michelle! 😉 Looking forward to ur next video 📽 🤓 💖
thank you, maria :)
"you don't have to spend hundreds of dollars on makeup".....*spends hundreds of dollars on makeup*
yh but she had nothing to start with so it's acc quite good
MakoBeauty I think she means if you don’t have the money, which Michelle does have.
Olivia's been SUCH a good beauty mentor for you so far! This was a great vid.
Please do a video where Olivia teaches you how to use these! Then another one where you do it all by yourself!
Michelle: “I’ve never bought make-up.”
Also Michelle: * looks insanely pretty without it *
Michelle posts= drop everything!
THIS IS SO CUTE MICHELLE! And I love Olivia too. I appreciate her sensitivity in makeup diversity and naming that !
Olivia needs to start a TH-cam
Olivia is so funny and clear in her suggestions! I love you guys!

Dear Michelle , you are a natural beauty who doesn't need make-up. stay blessed 💜

Wow you're so beautiful without makeup 😳
ik some people have a crap ton of makeup but i just have
1. bb cream (bc its literally foundation and sunscreen mixed into one so its better)
2. eyebrow pencil (u can make them at home so i dont even buy it)
3. sponge
4. lipstick
Waittt what? I’ve had my beauty blender and mascara for a year and they still work wonderfully lol. I refuse to throw it away😂
WickedlyDefiant I mean.. I wash the beauty blender
I watch a lot of beauty TH-cam and this is my first time watching something that is TRULY beginner friendly
love you❤️
Olivia seems like such a pleasant person! Gotta go follow her on everything
That Powerpuff Girl one is NOT A KID'S MAKEUP!!! It's a legit eyeshadow palette from the Korean brand Peripera and I am absolutely horrified that they threw it away!
I have it and I love it
With or without make-up, Michelle you are already beautiful. Both inside and out.
Def dont need makeup youre very pretty
Please do a haul and shop at Sephora for skincare!! And a skincare routine!!
What? A tube of mascara for only a couple of months?
latronqui yep, you put in near your eyes often, if you barely use it and it's fine, then you can keep it longer. But if you use it super often you could get an eye infection from keeping an old mascara
