As a 14 year old redline collecter it feels insane to me to hear you call all these cars that would be some of the nicest in my collection poor or ok condition lol
Hey wait till you collect for 50 years and buy and sell for thirty years. I talk every day to collectors who are so picky that they won't even buy a blister pack unless it looks like it came out of a time machine, and even then only if no one has ever touched it.
@@toycarcollector I hear you there. There is a guy who has ALL of his carded and loose Hot Wheels from 68-72 or later were sealed after they were PSA graded. He will not take an item or keep it I should say unless it's a 8.5 or higher. If there is the tiniest nick or scuff on the blister or ANYWHERE on the car to him it's crap. I whole heartedly agree. I couldn’t believe he said he’d have that blue silver shadow re-painted. Just sell them to people who don’t need C9.5 cars. When you restore them you’re ruining them for most collectors and you’re killing the redline business by removing what are great pieces to a lot of us.
Snooty = NO! Actually very nice and friendly. Money making - not much but I would make a ton if I let go of my collection, no plans to do that yet. Collectors love Hot Wheels because of their beauty but what makes the hunt way more exciting is that you can potentially find a valuable car for a bargain. Its no different than when you go down to the Target store at opening hoping to score a Super Treasure Hunt for a dollar and its worth $75. Money wise no one buys and collects Hot Wheels with the purpose of loosing money! Every single collector wants their cars to keep their value or go up, up, up! Enjoy the hunt.
@@velladune1 I have 3 of them race sets 2 MINT in a box...Once in awhile I play with them... There's a video on TH-cam about that set "Silver Circuit set its called !
It is exciting, this collection was full of crap! What I mean by that is I collect as close to mint condition as possible and so many of these were damaged. But this collection also had one of the most valuable cars Hot Wheels ever made, the Purple Olds 442. That car sells in the $10 to $12 thousand dollar range. And the guy said he left the collection in an "out building" but barn sounds better.
Now at 45 years old I've started getting back into die casts. Unfortunately as a kid pretty much all of my toys were handed down to my younger cousin. I didn't mind at the time because it was just the right thing to do. I always separated what I wanted to keep for myself though but you know how moms can be at times and she didn't understand the difference and those ended up being given away as well. Then the last of the last that was packed up even ended up gone after I graduated from high school and left for basic training at Parris Island. There wasn't much value in the die casts but they were my favorite and kept for a reason, most were unopened. The rest of the toys are worth a decent amount now and I could scream about the football cards lol. I'd love to able to have some of it back but more importantly I'd really love to have my mom back with us. Just started collecting again, have about 20 or so unopened for now. Nothing special at all, just some that I like. That's a nice 442. Back in high school I had a 71. Just a supreme though but still ran strong with a mildly built 350 rocket. Usually I ran between 12.75-12.95 qt mile in it. 12.689 was the best I ever got in it and I honestly thought I jumped the light but they said I didn't so I guess I believe them lol.
Thank you so much for your fun videos..I love them...can you tell me where I can get some of my beat up cars restored. Have had them for a long time and would love to get them fixed up.

The hobby of collecting Redlines is deep and wide and no two collectors the same. I've been hot on the trail of collections for over 30 years and have attended nearly 60 conventions. Every car in every condition appeals to someone. I like smokin mint condition for my core collection. Thanks for watching. Ps this collection cost $6,500 when I bought it. There were several interested buyers that I had to out bid.
I would love them all... Really.... Why do you even collect if you don't like any red lines. I would love to have these... original not repaired and painted...
Hey Dave, I'm looking to buy collections like that myself. How would you suggest I start? What would be a good average price for a collection like that? Love the light green Ferrari and Cord.
To get collection you have to put your name out there in places such as Craigslist for Hot Wheels Wanted. Also make sure people know you are a collector. Price wise it is whatever the seller is happy with. You won't get anything cheap like you could before the internet. But you can pay half price most of the time. Then you have to do the work to sell the cars you do not want and that is no small task. I can pay more than most because I have a very strong buyer base who love to spend money and avoid the disappointments you get on eBay.
@@toycarcollector Thanks Dave, I appreciate it. I got lucky with my first collection. I paid around $500. It has some pretty good stuff in it, so I'm told. A mint aqua Beach Bomb, and a purple Indy Eagle with a black base were also in it. Now, those are the better cars in the collection.
