These quarterly Ashes Of Creation recaps are great! I really dont have the time to watch all these live streams so i am very happy there is somebody who can keep me updated
remember Riot is also working on a mmo, and they're well known for great quality products. Everything they did was a massive success:lol, valorant, LoRT, Arcane, K/DA music, etc. I doubt their mmo will not follow this success. By the time AoC releases RIot's mmo will be years old, with everything AoC promised and more. Time is a limited resource, it seems AoC devs don't understand this. Competition is getting better and better, when they finally release AoC their game will be mediocre and have things all other mmos do.
My friend you should watch the server meshing stream from ashes because there is just 2 mmos that are really trying to evolve mmo tech. AoC and SC with dynamic meshing servers. Also AoC converted ue5 into multi thread and added multiservices for specific systems
For that to be true those "better MMOs" would have to be in development for years now too. Do you guys really think that in 2years there will suddenly pop a never-heard-before, entire new MMO that will swipe the market?? This is taking so long for a reason, MMOs just take that long to develop, all of them. The Riots MMO might be only real competitor but we don't even know if it's actually getting done or maybe they changed focus afterall (focusing on another game)
Bro chill. This is just Alpha Two Phase One Part One Season One Episode Zero. Give them until at least Alpha Two Phase One Part One Season One Episode One 😅

I LOVE these quarterly updates. Thank you so much for doing this, I really appreciate it. I’ve been eyeballing Ashes for years and holding off playing any other MMO, so when I finally dive in my thirst will be REAL. These give me just the right amount of hype to keep looking forward to release, even if it’s years off. Thank you❤
@whoaskedyoutolookatthis You feel pretty strongly about this, huh? lol I remember Archeage having over 100+ classes, with over half of that number being useless. How many of AoCs 64 class combos are going to follow in said footsteps here?
@@allthatishere the fact that you have the capability of making useless classes is the charm. GW2, in my opinion, feels soulless. I like vertical growth, an mmorpg is meant to be a second world, a world you visit when you have the time, where you grind, where you dabble in the politics of the world, where you have to learn about the market, etc, etc, etc. GW and other "theme park first" mmorpgs feel soulless when you are looking for that experience. i've tried Gw2 literally when it came out, then a few years back, and then this year, i can NEVER get to it. You are in a treadmill and you just have to follow whatever the magical box of quests tells you, monsters are meant to scale to your level so whatever sense of progression is lost, as you can never revisit an old place and feel powerful, and I honestly don't have the wordsmithing capabilities to tell you everything I find boring as shit about it. In lineage 2, if you were level 40, a lvl 15 zone would be literal trash, the levels really felt like progression, enchanting too, and you had the freedom of going wherever the fuck you wanted, you had world bosses, open-world dungeons, etc, etc. Gw2 is just a WoW clone, i'd rather prefer korean style old school mmorpgs.
Gone are the days when everyone gets to explore a new mysterious world together on equal footing. Now you have youtubers, players who are willing to pay a premium and twitch streamers exposing all secrets and most efficient powerlevelling methods long before it's official 1.0 release.
@@Touchin-Grass true 👏 not to mention this comes with there open development style which for me at least is refreshing and I’ve not (personally) seen done before
@@Touchin-Grass exactly, we just didnt have the platforms and exposure to these testers outside of maybe television or magazines (g4tv or Edge magazine) . Even then, press were often made to sign extensive NDAs at trade shows or as testers.
Agreed. And this today is true of all games in general. There's no more mystery or intrigue; no more exploration. Before ANY game is released these days, online or not, there's thousands of videos from thousands of streamers, all of whom receive early or early-early access. In the old days? Only media sites (which there were a small handful of) had any pre-access to a game. Beta for MMORPGs was the only exception, and back then it was difficult to get into a beta and generally people only got in slightly before release. Looking at single player games, take Elden Ring... before this game was public there were already streamers who had completed the game and were posting best builds, guides, etc. by the thousands. But back to your point: this seriously hurts MMORPGs more than single player games, because it gives early access players a massive advantage in mechanics and knowledge. And the worst part? Players are paying a company to play their unfinished product just because the company knows people are desperate enough to do it. Video game culture as a whole has become a horrible place the past 10-15 years, much like most things in our world, and all due to the advent of social media across the internet. This game isn't going to save the MMORPG market. I don't think the MMORPG market will ever be what it once was because our culture and video gaming culture have changed too much. And people cannot return to past time periods, no matter how they try to emulate it. MMORPGs as we knew them were part of an older time period. MMORPGs today live in a different era, and they suffer because of it.
Thanks for your efforts, man. I don't play mmorpgs anymore, but I still listen to most of your videos while I am doing chores or woodworking. Your comment at the end just felt so spot on of just enjoying your run down of things.
The "God help us" with a fading voice, had me laughing like an idiot. hahaha I am still laughing trying to type my comment. Brilliant my dude, pure brilliance! Keep it up, and yeah, let's hope we will live to play this masterpiece!

The world looks really good, the boss fights look solid and I like the town and events but the character models look out of place, like they were dropped in, the class SFX and UX/UI looks dated. The Bard seems like it is trying to fit in too many themes for its abilities.

I agree, and i ubderstand that alpha two, but the ui for me should always be heavely invested. Take New World for example, the UI is so acessible so a lot of.players got quickly afapted to the game, also it gave the game its own feel, u look into a video, u are always seeing the ui. About the character, i feel like they are okay, i juat dislike the camera, so centered in the char it makes it look out of place
i enjoy checking out this project every 2-3 years. nice to hear this team is still working on something. i remember watching a stream of a super early build and they sounded passionate about their project.
its called an active development you dont see this kind of update from other games coz they hide it until after 10yrs it is playable and ready for release
I was never hyped to begin with because it was much more of a proof of concept than anything else, but watching Peons videos on it over the years and now that it seems to be coming together into something that actually looks promising I'm pretty interested actually. Steven seems to know what makes a great MMO, having played them so religiously himself and from watching him speak about the game and why they make certain design choices, node system is pretty unique and the more classic/hardcore MMO nature of it is super appealing as someone who doesn't enjoy games that allow you to just rush the leveling process in a day and misses when leveling was a true part of the game and not something you just wanted done and over with so you can get to the quote on quote "real game".
What people dont understand is all these years of "developing" is only for releasing a bare, base game. If you think about possible patches, enhancements, qol updates after the game is released. Then youd know that mmorpgs should only be handled by studios who have a lot of resources / manpower.
Pretty much. The combat will only be playable/bearable for most MMO gamers who are actively playing MMOs even at the stage they're in (aka addicts with no standards).
lol outdated? WoW is still the most popular mmorpg and there hasnt released anything to rival it yet except ffxiv, ur acting like quality mmorpgs are released daily
@@songoku6067 ashes looks beautiful but that's not what defines a quality MMO, the IP behind wow is so powerful that it has kept it on the throne for so long. Also, as many business people say, the best product can fail if it misses the time to market window. We will see in a few years which prediction comes true
Well, I'm just wondering why you say this. At the moment, we don't know much about how Augments will work, aka how your secondary will impact your primary archetype. And we won't know until next year, and Stage 3 of Alpha 2..
Well I say this because I assume stuff like you said we don't know anything. But buffing / aura / debuff / hex sound great on a support spec. If the guardian is already tanky enough and doesn't need dmg for holding aggro? Giving out buffs/ lifesteal/ small heals or hexes is great
@@johnweig4667 It does sound great, I just fear a lot of people (including myself) might be disappointed by how the augment system will work. From what we know, it will just change your x Tank ability into a something with different visuals, and maybe different mechanics (added damage, added effects, etc.). You won't have brand new abilities, you'll just have modified base archetype abilities, based on the augment you select.
i am not sure this game will ever come out. When it was announced i was a bit hyped, but with what progress they have made in 8 years....not so much anymore.
This game is a lost cause, players are so down bad that they willingly play just to be a beta tester lol and then when it comes out, the game will be okay and somewhat dead around 3-6months.
What is the gameplay loop? What is there to actually DO that will keep people playing for hours and hours on end. I still haven't seen anything that convinces me the game will be content rich. The only real content I've seen are group caravans and world bosses.
up to you. pvp, questing, dungeons, raids, resource gathering, node leveling, social aspects, crafting, exploring, etc. like almost every mmo. he even mentions some in the video. not to directly criticize your character, but you should probably look into it more or at least watch Peons other videos. framing your comment as ignorance while also implying/signaling that there's actually nothing to do in the game comes off as a bit malicious and fairly negative to those who have put the time in to inform themselves.

@@_Diktator These kinds of people don't have anything they enjoy. That's the point, the just want to tear stuff down. They don't want others to have a good time or to have things they like. They are bitter and resentful.
Hopefully after this very long development time, the game will give mmo players a game they can enjoy, I personally gave up on mmos, but would still be cool if the game breaths life into the dying gener.
As long as they keep up the pace of updates, I don't mind if other people want to pay to improve the game. Making the systems behind node growth and the PvE/PvP at each stage interesting and not feel procedural/boring will be tough and take a lot of time and testers. A lot of custom quest/story/loot content for each way the world's nodes can be developed will have to be added, along with believable reactive NPC factions/armies.
Looking at these updates I can't shake the feeling that AoC is the harbinger of doom for the MMORPG genre. It is going to suck and break the heart of every MMORPG enjoyer in the world. I hope not, but... all this is not very confidence-inspiring.
A high tier backer that they got to speak to the elite developer/creator. That after a few conversations they got their packing refunded as it was clear he was a chronic liar saying whatever to sell the game.
1.5+ years in A2, but B1+B2 will run concurrently. A2 server will be PTR. So, I'm looking potential at release in Fall 2026 /Spring 2027. $15/month to try it for 30 days seems worth it. We'll see.
With how much money is being poured into this game and how long it's taken to reach even this stage, this HAS to be some kind of elaborate money laundering scheme, right? I can't be the only one thinking this
The sheer inability to deliver progress on this game is astounding. It tells me that there’s something wrong in the production pipeline, and even if the game releases, updates will drop slow.
This needs to be brought up more. Intrepid just needs to shut up, stop the update videos, develop the game, and release the product within the next couple of years or this game will disappear. I swear Steven has dinner with Chris Robert's on a weekly basis.
I was 29 when I first heard of this game, since i got married, bought a house and my daughter is almost 6 yo. I know, they should take there time for it to be really good, no rush. But you know..just saying.
Phase 3 looking like the best bang for one's buck, like a sweetspot between a testing ground and an actual game, with approx. 2 years of playtime ahead until release.
Another great recap LP. Love watching your videos. I 100% agree that peoples expectations for A2 are way too high, especially for phase 1. People should expect a ton of lag, long queues, tons of bugs, and some disconnects. However, the testing data they get and hotfixes they will be doing will make it a better experience over time. Hype for testing!!
I’m sorry but anyone else feel like this game is very “meh” so far for how LONG it’s been in development?? The graphics look outdated af already. I’m sorry but this game is going to flop on release if they don’t make some major changes, mark my words.
It's a mid-game world-boss raid in a PvX game. (WoW doesn't even do dragon fights like that either lol) AoC never claimed or implied that was what was radically different and ground-breaking. It's just fun.
The only thing i want to be in game is , a trading system between players. And additionally Auction house will be a plus too. Albion did a great job. Also runescape same. Dont leave us like Throne and liberty or Black desert system. Players have to communicate with each other with trades and auction house. We need gathering, crafting and need to sell our own produces that we gathered or created. I want to TRADE !
People who complain about them being slow about releasing the game dont realize how much work making an MMORPG take. Its the hardest genre in the industry and Intreped studio has been open about their development from the very start, which we all should appreciate alot more. Not many gaming studios does that and the progress they show from month to month is really good.
@@adamcunningham6008he’s here to make the joke about coming back when it releases in 2076. I really could care less about people that know nothing about the game and pass by saying something witty then goes back to WoW retail or some other P2W game.
How long have they been working on this game by now? Over 10 years? And by the time it releases that will be what? 15 years or more? This better be the best MMORPG ever made based on development time.
This is Shroud of the Avatar with a bigger budget. By the time this actually releases, no one will even care. This is an unemployment program for developers.
These videos are the only way I would be able to keep up with ashes development. Absolutely love watching this game get made as it really seems to have everything I was hoping for from Archeage but implemented with (from my view) more care and with just the better technology of today. I know it's not out and things could change, but I really feel like this is the MMO I've been wanting ever since I first heard about Archeage, my entire friend group have been hopping MMO to MMO chasing the high we got from that, but this is the first game that felt true promise in a long time.
This game is such an overhyped mess. It looks awful next to something recent like Throne and Liberty too. Everything about the assets are just amateur looking and literally look worse than stuff you find on the Unreal Engine store
^ This. The whole development just seems really slow and really bad so far. They also like to reveal things as "groundbreaking" that have been in other MMO's for 10+years (charge uphill?!), and advertise it as genre-defining changes
I legit cannot wrap my head around their marketing, they're using "alpha" like it's the name of their game. 4 years later we're getting Alpha 2, the highly anticipated sequel to Alpha. Call it a Beta and go through the whole fucking Greek alphabet if you have to but starting at A and 4 years later not going "B" but "A pt.2" is crazy Looking at the ALPHA II watermark and logo creation feels like a god damn fever dream They're counting down in such slowmotion they're selling the countdown
I've spent $10 on Throne and Liberty just to get the BP and I'm still having a blast with the game. It's not perfect but it's fun. The more and more I see on Ashes, the more it seems to truly be living in fantasy land. 😂 I hope I'm wrong, but I'm not holding my breath for this one... 😅

For that to be true those "better MMOs" would have to be in development for years now too. Do you guys really think that in 2years there will suddenly pop a never-heard-before, entire new MMO that will swipe the market?? Guild Wars 3 is really shaping up nicely.
Guild Wars 3 / Archeage mix
Oh god I hope its not like that thrash. Its meant to be Lineage 2 and Archeage successor, not a fucking snooze fest like Gw2.
@whoaskedyoutolookatthis You feel pretty strongly about this, huh? lol
I remember Archeage having over 100+ classes, with over half of that number being useless. How many of AoCs 64 class combos are going to follow in said footsteps here?
spoken like someone who has no idea what they're talking about...

Your comment at the end just felt so spot on of just enjoying your run down of things.

just ignore it and come back in like 2028 and there might be something we can play
you may be the only one, I am more hyped than ever
Really nice summary of the updates! Thanks.
I like what they're doing but like I said before...once this game is ever going to be released it will be so outdated...sad
It will be dead bro, not outdated
Pretty much. The combat will only be playable/bearable for most MMO gamers who are actively playing MMOs even at the stage they're in (aka addicts with no standards).

lol outdated? WoW is still the most popular mmorpg and there hasnt released anything to rival it yet except ffxiv, ur acting like quality mmorpgs are released daily
@@songoku6067 ashes looks beautiful but that's not what defines a quality MMO, the IP behind wow is so powerful that it has kept it on the throne for so long.
