Great video as always, keep it up. Tip for anyone that tries to use plastic spray bottle with lacquer thinner to clean their gunn. I have tried almost every plastic bottle there is and every single one has failed. So I spent $45 and bought my self a metal can. I purchased Sure Shot 32oz from Amazon. Fill it with thinner and pressurize it with air compressor and got your self spray bottle that works great. Just make sure you buy the one made in USA, they sell some China knock offs but those will fail. It is a bit pricey but it's worth every penny.
Ok, so you lost me around the 12:45 mark. You said mix 1/4 ratio laquer thinner/laquer .... What you mixed was the retarder, laquer thinner, and sealer, right? Then after that, you're talking about which tip to use for the laquer???? Which is which?? You're putting the retarder and laquer thinner in with the sealer as well as the laquer at the same 1 to 4 ratio?
I’m debating between lacquer and conversion varnish… need a very durable finish. Seems like the process is the same in reference to spraying vinyl sealer then the top coat
I find getting to know all these different products for finishing to be a challenge. I didn’t know there is a precat sealers. Some much to learn. Why can’t I have neighbors like you lol.
Thank you. I keep referencing back to this video. I'm about to spray my kitchen cabinets with precat and I spend more time researching than doing in an unhealthy ratio. Lol
So your first coat sealer solution is (using a quart container, i.e. 32 fl oz): 1 x (3 oz Retarder + 5 oz Lacquer thinner) (8 oz) 3 x (8 oz Sealer) (24 oz) Thanks for this info!
Great info. You should consider deleting your older video, or adding some captions at least. I'm sure I wasn't the only beginner who bought the Cab Acrylic based on that, and I only got the Vinyl sealer due to advice from the guys at Sherwin Williams. I don't blame you, sharing as you learn is doing us all a huge service!
Have questions regarding your fuji sprayer...I just got one but am terrified to use it... lol I grew up on the earlex m5500 and wanted something a little "better"...when you spray stain in the fuji is it easy to clean up? I've been finding the varathane brands of stain have a high pigment content and a pain to clean from hvlp guns.. Just wanted to get some advice regarding that and how you like the fuji...thank you sir!
I ended up buying the Earlax 6003 (three phase). Was about $150 less. The lighter hose sold me and did not have to purchase an extension offered by Fuji.
Been watching your videos for a while to learn how to spray. Thanks for the awesome tips and thorough explanation for Fuji HVLP use. Two question what spray cap would you recommend for pigmented lacquer and did you adjust the air inlet valve on the hose going into the gun?
I have no adjustment for air. Never had a need for it. If you are spray nitrocellulose lacquer then you can get away with using a 1.3 but if you’re pigmented lacquer is pre-cat then I would use a 1.8. Hope that helps.
At least here in Chicago they have it at every Sherwin-William store. They can also tint it for you. Lighter colors I can get at any store but for darker colors I go to their product finish facility. Hope this helps.
Just say the correct ratio/measure/whatever whenever you remember/realize it, and edit it in after the fact. Your face was out of frame, so only audiophiles will notice the fix.
Really enjoyed this and the other videos. Just being picky, but a 1 to 3 ratio is a 1 out of four ratio. In any case you got the message across. WoodRicks
Why would you even ask a client if you can film? If their face and identifying info aren’t in it, you can film any and all of your projects without even asking
This is the best tutorial on Pre cat lacquer spraying I’ve been able to find.
Great video as always, keep it up.

Hey drew, what is the name of the center punch you used?
Thanks!

Believe me, I have a lot to learn too. I learn everyday. That’s why I love this job. There is always lots to learn.
Can I use precatylized laquer on a painted piece of furniture?
Thank you. I keep referencing back to this video. I'm about to spray my kitchen cabinets with precat and I spend more time researching than doing in an unhealthy ratio. Lol
Thank you for your video. How many doors can you spray with a gallon of lacquer, thanks?

Do you mix the lacquer and the sealer with the same 1 to 3 ratio
Hi, I make TV trays. Will be upgrading my sprayer. Budget around $600. Will the Fuji 3 work?
I ended up buying the Earlax 6003 (three phase). Was about $150 less. The lighter hose sold me and did not have to purchase an extension offered by Fuji.
Is Sealer and Primer the same thing or 2 different products?
Hey Rocky
Great video. What tip do you use for the sealer F67F6? Also, do you thin the sealer at all?
Thanks
Anybody know where to find or the name of the silicone cup toppers he uses for the extra sprayer cups?
Very helpful! Thanks!
Nice tips and info. Thank you
Glad you liked it.

Rock-n H Woodshop awesome, thank you and keep it up.
Have you tried the 3M PPS 2.0 with your Fuji? I am considering one and looking for some input.
I have not. Is that the liner for the cup?
Yes it is. Suppose to be a lot less time cleaning and they have built in screens. Thanks for the feedback.
So the sealer goes on first then lacquer?
Yes. Sealer will close off the grain to prevent moisture from seeping out of the grain and allow for easy sanding for a smooth coat of lacquer
Enjoyed!
Thank You!!! So glad. Share it around please.
Where do you buy the lacquer? It's not on their website.

But where is the fun in that 🤣

Lots of good information in that one. #405
Thank You!!! Glad you liked it. What was “#405” besides my area code. 🤣
Rock-n H Woodshop just a fellow Okie insider. I think street outlaws Okc started it. Welcome to the 405.
Awesome! Wasn’t sure about that. Guess I’m not an insider. Dang!
