Even though I am a clean player most of the time, I am inspired by Billy's playing and personality. That is why i bought this pedal 9 years ago. I am glad I watched this demo cause now I can really rip. Cheers!!!!
I would like to hear this played through a pair of bass amps. To hear the full sound and the distorted bass blended with mic'd sound versus direct sound.
It's like a deluxe version of a BOSS LS-2 Line Selector, with one side having an overdrive/distortion gain knob, and a sweepable frequency mid boost knob, and the other side having a two preset level or off compressor.
I know that with, at least, Sons Of Apollo, Billy added a Line 6 Helix Floorboard to his gear. He mentioned in a Video Interview I happened to see, the folks at Line 6 Modeled a Preamp he used into his Helix. This Pedal seems to have not only; a great sounding Snarling Overdrive/Distortion, it also has a very nice, versatile, multiuse Compressor. I'd love to know if this is "THE ONE".....meaning that it's the perfect OD and Compressor for Bass Player's and the one Line 6 Modeled? Hmmmmm. I just guess, since tomorrow is July 4th, Tuesday; Line 6 is going to be getting a call from me about which Preamp they Modeled and put in his Helix! A few months ago, maybe a year....timing has gone nuts since COVID... Line 6 released their latest update for the Helix. Now, I want this baby for when I'm filling in for someone or recording my stuff. I MUST HAVE THIS FOR MY HELIX BASS PRESETS!!! If, by chance; someone knows, PLEASE REPLY with what Line 6 is calling their version of this MONSTER!! What a great Pedal!! GREAT JOB!!! Thank you!
interesting explanations, especially of the concept of using compression on the dry in a dry/wet mix, although I kind of wish he would stop saying "tonality" when he means "tone".
Adri Kodich his signature Yamaha Attitude. It’s his signature bass. My uncle has one and that bass sounds so good and it has some serious balls when it comes to tone
Hi Damon, the pedal is designed for bass guitars. While it could be used for a guitar we would recommend a pedal that is design specifically for guitar. Here are some of the overdrive pedals that we have. www.fullcompass.com/search.php?parent=471&search_simple=true&txtAll=overdrive+guitar. Hope this helps.
+Damon Stewart I got one of these just today... It works pretty well for a guitar even though it's really optimised for bass. I personally don't recommend trying to use this pedal in anything more than a blues or soft rock scenario because it has less drive than a guitar distortion. If you want a more hard rock tone, a Boss SD-1 might be more your kind of pedal...
It is not a bad idea, it has been done successfully. There are several out there. You don't necessarily need a tube to get a warm sound. It is a preference. Pre-amp tubes are also less troublesome than power tubes. I think it is a bad idea for some tube stomp boxes to have them exposed. I like the two-note pre-amp stomp boxes. Those are really cool. The Mesa Boogie V-Twin is really cool too.
I know - ART's lineup is pretty great, I had a levelar compressor and it killed. however in most applications you need a lot of tension on the plates (> 200V) to really get a good result. which drives up the cost and usually requires AC power supplies, and so on. not to mention that tubes are fragile and stompboxes get slammed around all the time.
Interesting.....the same Chip used in the ORIGINAL Ibanez Tube Screamer....the TS-808!! Very interesting....Hmmmmm Or was that the JRC 4540 or 4520.....now my mind is playing games with me!!...LOL..
I bought it and got it signed by him when he had a clinic in stockholm, top guy, top pedal!
That tone is unreal!

I really really would like an audio book of Billy explaining electronics.
I loled at your reply
Great Demo!! I feel old now though lol, Remember seeing Sheehan live and upfront with Mr Big. Was at a local club. great night!! long long time ago
Billy is a BADASS....MY FAVORITE
What a player! Seems like a decent guy too
Seems like a really nice down to earth guy, no crap & knows his stuff.
he knows how the compression and distortion work scientifically, wow !!
What a great demonstration of a very neat pedal.
that harmonic at 10:19 gave me sweet goose bumps. sounds like great pedal. price is too high for a rook like me :(

He is AMAZING!
I'm having my signature series bass being made by Zane Guitars right now. I'm going to have to get one of these to see how they pair together.
He is indeed amazing

" Lets bring it back to human levels " ... LOL
Have fun tabbing his playing out once you have the pedal
What are the cables called he uses to put the pedals on different loops ?
Insert Y-Cable

Could it be used for guitar

I think a tube version would be very badass.
no it wouldn't. it's basically a bad idea to stick a tube in a stompbox

Sweden. I love their meatballs.
It would also be sweet to hear on a 5 string bass, 8 string, 12 string bass as well as a 4 string.
