    Talking about the 2002 campaign, what is even more tragic is that the captain and leader of that team was Michael Ballack, who would also go to lose in the World Cup final against Brazil. Possibly the greatest individual season by a player of all time and it all ended in heartbreak.

    2:30 they still have to beat Stuttgart which basically is Leverkusen 2.0 this season. They arent unbeaten but last year the survived the relegation playoffs and now they are on 3rd place playing one of their best seasons in a very very long time. They only faced each other twice this season. 1st time was a 1:1 draw and second time was in the DfB Pokal where Leverkusen won thanks to a extra time goal. So if someone can Stop them domestically its probably only VfB Stuttgart.

    With any German club that is not Bayern München, the season after the unexpected rise is always very crucial. Usually since none of the clubs beside Bayern have the money or appeal to keep the best of the best players, the miracle clubs are plundered once transfers are starting, either by Bayern München themselves or by international top tier clubs. So, we will see if Leverkusen can "survive" the feast. Which i really hope they do, for the club itself, for the Bundesliga as a whole and because i really want to see a Leverkusen team similar to what it is now competing in the Champions League.

    @ezraezra2928 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    People said this year might be the special in football. Not only Bayer Leverkusen that will achieve the Invincible Treble, but also Manchester City's potential Double Treble. They were still in contention of becoming the first major club in "Big 5" Leagues to do back-to-back European Trebles, until, well, they surprisingly lost to Real Madrid on penalty shootout in the Champions League quarterfinal. Currently, Manchester City were sitting 2nd, 2 points behind Arsenal, in the Premier League and also played in the FA Cup Final against their city rivals Manchester United. Liverpool were also mentioned here, as Jurgen Klopp wanted the Quadruple on his farewell season, until a shock defeat to Manchester United in the FA Cup tie happened, which also derailed the whole title hopes. However, the "Lisbon Lions" Celtic during the historic 1966-67 season won 5 titles, which was considered one of the greatest winning teams at that time.
    2002 was also a sad year in German Football a lot. 5 of Leverkusen players, including, of course, Michael Ballack, also went on to lose the World Cup Final with Germany. Ballack did not even play in the Final against Brazil due to the suspension, which showed how unlucky this football legend was. Despite of that, one of the Brazil player that won the World Cup was Lucio, a Leverkusen player. He went on to win the Treble with Inter Milan 8 years later.
    Speaking of Leverkusen's Invincible Treble hopes, I think the game against Stuttgart and Roma were the most challenging one for Leverkusen, rather than the Frankfurt that bested Bayern Munich 5-1. Stuttgart had enjoyed their best campaign after narrowly avoided the relegation playoffs on the previous season. They still had one of the most lethal striker in the form of Serhou Guirassy. They are currently sitting 3rd in the table. Roma, although had some difficult results like losing 1-3 to Bologna, were still dangerous. Daniele De Rossi's team sometimes did the unusual offense tactics to upset the big teams like beating Milan in the quarterfinal. Even worse, this Europa League Final could be an all-Italian affair, given the fact Atalanta had just knocked favourites Liverpool out in this competition. Don't forget that Atalanta and Roma had ended Leverkusen's Europa League hopes in the last two seasons, respectively.

    • @langletprolet8378

      Yes. Unfortunately I do see Roma or Stuttgart ending their unbeaten run. Leverkusen also is not in best form since their title win vs Werder, prob a bit high after clenching title which was always the concern after winning a historic title. Invincible treble is not likely, but regardless at least they have won the league whilst still unbeaten which is a record in of itself and will be remembered.

    Asking who is the best team of all time is impossible. You would have to compare two teams in their absolute prime going against each other, where one would lose and the question "was this their best season?" would come up, causing a loop of debates. So to answer the greatest achievement question, considering it would be an actual comparable stat to something never done before, I would say yes. This doesn't mean they are the best team to do it though.

    I think there is a major difference between the greatest upset and the greatest achievement. Leicester is without a doubt the greatest upset in any of the 5 greatest leagues in history. But Bayer Leverkusen's achievement if they end up remaining unbeaten in the last 3 league games, the three Europa League games and the Pokal final against Kaiserslautern that will be a feat that will without any doubt be the greatest achievement. And the question you have to be able to answer in the affirmative for that to be the case is quite simple: Would this also be considered the greatest achievement if it was Bayern Munich, PSG or Manchester City doing it? And to me there is absolutely no doubt that it would. And I can really only see it being topped by a team doing the same with the European tournament being the champions league instead.

    As a Werder Bremen fan since 2004, that loves the Bundesliga, I really think the Bayer München domination is not sooo impressive but I also hate how close some BL clubs came to stopping it earlier but just fumbled it in the end, so the run continued. Now FC Hollywood is fumbling. I would lie if I didn't find the irony of ignorance a lil bit amusing.
    I really don't hate the Fußball-Club Bayern München or the players that played /still play there. I hate the management and the ego of this corporation behind the fanbase and players, literally "dealing" with the club. Reminds me of some Premier league clubs ... huh...

    i must argue even as a leicester fan that the 5000-1 would trump an invincible treble don't forget that its paired with the great escape for example imagine Sheffield united somehow stay up this season then next season win the league by multiple games that is the levels were talking and yes i still think that an invincible treble is good especially in a top 5 league and i would agree if Leverkusen were to win the champions league unbeaten aswell then it would trump Leicester's achievement, however remember that Bayern have been off the pace in the league, lost in the cup and Leverkusen have a big team knocked out of the Europa league (Liverpool)

      Leicester’s style of win was done before by Kaiserslautern. Theirs is even better because they were relegated, promoted, and then won the league in consecutive seasons. Invincible treble has never been done

    The 18,000 to 1 stat is very misleading. You can’t just times the odds of each together to make odds for the treble, as they are intrinsically linked. If you win the bundasliga you’re more likely to win the other comps.

      @harrybeckwith9202 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@alexandermeiering5216 These were the odds at the beginning of the season., Before they played matches in any of the tournaments. The reason you can’t just multiply all the odds together is because if you are doing well in one competition you are more likely to be doing well in another.
      Let’s you pick a random person in a city and take the odds of them having certain features .
      Being a man. 50%
      Wearing boxers/briefs : 50%
      This doesn’t mean that the odds of picking a man wearing boxers/briefs on is 25%(50% of 50%). It’s probably closer to 50%. This is because the odds of each feature aren’t independent of each other. (A man is more likely to wear boxers than a woman) Same with Bayer doing well in different competitions.

    You said that Eintracht Frankfurt may be the only team in the league that could shock leverkusen. Actually Stuttgart is much better and they played 2:2 in winter against B04 and in the DFB Pokal they were 2:1 ahead againdt B04 and lost only 3:2 in extra time. I think Stuttgart has the chance to win againdt them. At leadt a bigger chance then Frankfurt
