Her story is kinda creepy too. She was so beautiful that the surrounding townspeople worshipped her as a manifestation of divinity, so to avoid the heresy of being a false idol she burned her face with boiling oil to sacrifice her beauty to the divine. Then the Grievous Miracle cursed her that her face would always be simmering and burning as though she just poured the oil, and seeing the works of the Miracle, the townspeople continued to worship her as a saint, with the Convent of Our Lady of the Charred Visage being established in her honor, where faithful nuns trekked up the mountains to the convent and burned their faces in the same way This world is messed up

“The red hood has come to eat our dark souls”
Fun fact: Expósito is a common last name in latin countries, given during roman times to orphaned children without a last name. From what I can recall, the true meaning it's very close to what is sounds in spanish: "In exposition". You know, because they were being exposed like cattle to be adopted/bought as slaves.
In Italian it's Esposito and it's very diffused in South Italiy
Ok, poor baby, but also, not getting near it.
That's actually really close to what happened to the baby. Iirc the baby had no parents so it cried until a wicker doll was made to hold it. The wicker doll then seemed to be alive itself.
theonlycatonice He had a mother, but she was burned at the stake for some unspecified heresy. Whether the accusation was true or not is not clear.
It's not common.

Crazy. Have u tried new game plus or beat the game ?
Esposito means "exposed" and abjuration means to swear off or revoke. I wonder why the form was giant bloody-eyed baby. Maybe something about the new beginnings when you swear something off? I try not to look at it like an actual baby or I would be in the same boat as you

Wow. So glad you could point that out.

18:12 Damn! Who is the guy behind boss creation? This game is pure art. Omg!
Unfortunately it's style over substance. It's very tedious to play.
@@monstertheatergames It is, if you care more about style than substance. The game has numerous problems and all concerning the gameplay and design. I will not go into specifics here as it will take a lot of space but suffice to say there are reviews out there where they point out the severe issues this game has.
@@ikaruga24 game’s phenomenal considering its an indie title by some small studio. You’ve repeated these comments before. Over and over. Which reviews talk about these numerous issues? Let me guess: the fact that the map sucks and it’s hard to navigate anywhere because there’s nothing indicating you’re making progress?
I’ll take this “style over substance” with simple workable gameplay anyday. Mechanics are easy to grasp and bosses are interesting enough along with a story that has more “substance” then I was expecting from a small title like this. A Recommendable 2D scroller from a bygone era.

I'm so obsessed with pixel art. I could watch these all day. What an art.
Combine DOOM,Silent Hill and Blasphemous together=
HELL OF HELL
Man, i didn't know pixel art could be so smooth.
It almost look i'm playing a 3d game
Exceptional work here
Pixel art is pretty straightforward... the Frames Per Second is what makes it smooth. Just imagine how many layers of pixel drawings it takes just to make a simple move animation for a single sprite. This is tedius hard work for artists. But it is rewarding when it's done as you can see in this game.
Pretty sure half of the things were traced after they've made 3d models. It's like putting a 4bir raster filter over it
@@HaohmaruHL That's an economical way to do it. We really wouldn't know. I never thought of the 3D approach. My mind was set on some volunteers or actors moving on a green screen and using some footages and freedom of interpretation once it is post processed. But some animators do that too.
@@PitchaxisT I don't really understand art drawing but I do love 2D gaming and wondered how they make such a smooth movement out of some...the process I mean....like two fighting games Garou mark of the wolves and street fighter 3 had amazing smooth movement and cloth animation...Castlevania which is obviously this game got it's inspiration from...the symphony of the night has amazing movement as well...
@@HaohmaruHL Nope, devs confirmed all animations were done on a traditional way without 3d moddeling. Its fucking insane.

So I have never heard of nor seen this game until now. However, after watching this, I've realized something... This game is what happens if you try to turn any European heavy death metal band's album into a video game... Each track is a boss name and the lyrics are the story.
Very cool.
Fun fact:
"Ten piedad" its named after michael angelo's famous statue "la piedad" wich is the Virgin Mary embracing Jesús after his crucifixion, at the start of the battle the way the boss is presented ressembles la piedad a lot
The statue is named "la pietà"
Davide is that the statue where Mary and Jesus look disfigured. Like Mary is huge and Jesus is tiny
"Ten piedad" just means "have mercy" in spanish
Michael angelo is a guitarist
The artist is called Michelangelo

Damn this game looks stunning! The fifth boss is incredibly creepy
Her story is kinda creepy too. She was so beautiful that the surrounding townspeople worshipped her as a manifestation of divinity, so to avoid the heresy of being a false idol she burned her face with boiling oil to sacrifice her beauty to the divine. Then the Grievous Miracle cursed her that her face would always be simmering and burning as though she just poured the oil, and seeing the works of the Miracle, the townspeople continued to worship her as a saint, with the Convent of Our Lady of the Charred Visage being established in her honor, where faithful nuns trekked up the mountains to the convent and burned their faces in the same way
