In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion. - ตลก
The genuine disbelief in Greg's voice when he says "You've written Phil" absolutely killed me
Its also one of the best examples of his "disappointed teacher" voice.
It's a bit of a pity because I believe that she could have left the name out and Greg would have guessed it because of the Wang. Considering both Phil's surname and his costume in the series.
I think she tried to be too clever, first bending the rules with the instrument of choice, then by writing out the name. The taskmaster doesn't like that.
@@EST84x I think throwing the dice was clever, but that should have been where she stopped bending the rules
Without writing the name, she's probably in with 4 points, maybe 5 depending how amusing everyone found it. The drawing of the face was terrible too
So what have we learned today? We’ve learned that Taskmaster has been running for so long we sometimes forget about our former contestants. So let’s have a round of applause for Predator, Big Tooth Guy, and the Old Chinese Man!
And a round of applause for you for writing that such that I couldn't _not_ hear Greg's voice in my head.
Alex: That's actually nothing new for me. I sleep with headphones on and a cassette of Greg dripping sweet nothings into my ears.
Recording: You're nothing. You're nothing. You're nothing... ... *COUSHION!!!*
Lou's attempt is funnier when you realise she was the only one who thought of a way to use every instrument.
The gall of lou to be outraged at only getting two points is amazing. The word phil, a bad drawing of a wang and a few scribbles
She's honestly the reason this is the only season I never finished.
@@TheJillers same
@@TheJillers Yep, same.
@@TheJillers Everyone else in this season is a treasure and I've watched it multiple times, but I have to skip any parts that focus on Lou lol
@@TheJillers this is misogyny trust me
"It's really, really hard to get anything done..."
Joe is very much my life guru at this point in my existence.
Iain’s drawing of Sally is quite nice, because it makes her look really friendly.
One of my favourite tasks of series 8. Definitely would have given Paul the win because even without Sian's portrait it was very obviously Romesh
The rectangular shape of the head just screamed Richard Osman to me.
@@TemujinReadsthat's a good point, although he didn't have a beard yet when he was on TM
@@TemujinReads I thought someone would go for Osman cause he's got such a simple face. Especially after the task where he got a safety poster that looks like him
i was thinking women to limit the options at first but Osman is a great oiption. make the safety poster!@@joevictor53
Lou should have just drawn the Wang and left the Phil out of it.
Whatever you put the wang in needs to be Phil'd
If she had she would have won the 5 points
That would have won hands down.
I'm so impressed that Paul knows all the state capitals. I can't remember all of them off the top of my head.
I love that lately these clips include the points and leaderboard, it's not quite the same without it.
That drawing of Jessica is haunting. It's like what I'd see in a state of sleep paralysis.
The way to do this task is just to start creating _a_ face and then see who it ends up looking (most) like.
I'm glad Joe picked a fellow Inbetweeners cast mate.
Yeah it makes sense, especially because he hadn't watched the show before being on it so likely didn't know that many contestants that had been on the show.
Drawing a skeleton for Noel Fielding probably would have done well
or a banana
Kind of surprised that Paul did this well in this task.
should have had a bonus point for getting the state capitals right too
Joe Thomas is a GIFT to all!
I'd draw a bird and say it's Noel Fielding.
Joes looks like Mao Zadong...
In his current state.
Lou writing Phil is skirting the rules lmao.
Wasn’t in the spirit of the task at all. Don’t like Lou at all.
@@chrisjones5411 I love this whole cast but she hands down made me laugh the most, love her to bits
@@ShamanizedHorses for courses. I just think she’s the most two faced contestant they’ve ever had. Half funny, half knob.
I mean, I give her kudos for being the only one to realise there was nothing specifying you only had to roll the die once
@@chrisjones5411 Better than Iain who was full knob
Amazing show
It's sooooo fun
Can't wait for.the next season
Let me just say that Lou was extreeemely generous to Phil.
yea, that's a lot of hair
That yellow tight suit didn't leave much to the imagination
Yup, we’d all been drawn to the pendulum....
@@philippawallacedunlop9393There was definitely no pendulum.
I'd break the bamboo flute and use a single tube.
Noel Fielding moment
Interesting Choice by Joe to draw Paul Foot for no reason.
Thank the gods the real Phil picture was not the Wang picture.
i swear its the futurama theme playing during the task
Joe’s is obviously is Snoop Dog!
Why was Alex asking Paul American capital cities
I think it's just because Paul is known as a trivia master and Alex thought it amusing to demonstrate that he would give the answers without even being distracted
I was at the filming for the episode, and Alex mentioned that Paul was very quiet so he was trying to get him to talk a bit more. This was followed by Alex revealing a secret task just for Paul involving talking, and finding out that only he had to do it left Paul most annoyed. I can give details on the task if you want.
@@Sevren2112Go on 😊
@@Sevren2112please give details
@@dingetje82 I can't remember the exact wording, but in essence the task was to brag about yourself for one hour, since the aim was to get Paul Sinha to talk. Each time they "returned" from an ad break during filming, they'd show more of the footage of him in the lab bragging and "putting down" the others. I met Alex a few months later and asked about it, and he said it wasn't shown for time reasons and didn't quite work out with the rest of the episode. But yeah, Paul's reaction to learning it was a solo task was priceless.
Goodbye, 2 to Lou!
Really wanted a picture of a banana and/or a crow.
Noel Fielding
Why was Alex asking Paul the names of capitals of states?

I agree
Wow.. There are people in America that couldn't name those capitals.
Most definitely, many probably wouldn't even be able list all the states. TBF that applies to people from EU nations as well
Can dice be used for a single one? I remember it being die for singular or dice for plural? Did they change it so dice works for both now?
Dice can be singular or plural, as long as I can remember. Die sounds "more correct" but most dictionaries include dice as also being singular. Mine from 1999 includes die or dice as singular.
I wanna tell you about a friend of mine, he works in a casino. And one day....is..is is die plural and dice singular or is dice plural..????
Anyway, he killed two people by mistake.

I always think iains drawing looks like something from horrid henry
I thought Joe´s picture was Noel Fielding.
True though, Lou could've just drawn a wang and anyone would've known who that was
Make the best picture of a former contestant.....Phil and a wang is still a very accurate picture of him. Doesn't say you CAN'T put the name in.
But it also said FORMER.
@@christopherklute1606which Phil was as he was on series 7 and this is series 8. Although I think this would be impossible in later series, I believe filming for series 16 took place while series 15 was still being aired

Also, did they disable time links?
7:23 I can.
Lou definitely should have gotten 1 point
I'd have gone with none. She was asked to draw, she wrote.
Was there any reason for asking the capitals of US states?
Possibly for an unseen tiebreaker?
He is a trivia expert, Alex asked him weird questions throughout the series and he always awnsers without hesitation or asking why Alex is asking, its kinda like the counting the baked beans thing, its just something silly Alex knew he could get away with
To embarrass all of the future contestants in Series 10 who had trouble naming states in the teapot painting task
@@gyroscope915I didn’t pick up on this but yes it’s exactly the sort of thing Alex would do. Good reason to re-watch their series!
Whimsy
Well I be damned, I am from the state capitol of Arkansas!
Woooo Pig Soooie
Lou is so god damn competitive on this show, on one hand it's quite fun to see her try to beat the system (as she did in this case) but in another sense it's a bit cringy when she gets all upset for not getting the points she wants because yeah she "drew" the word PHIL and a dick.
I found Lou very cringy on this series. My least favourite contestant by far.
Lou's loophole and subsequent drawing was one of her better moments, but then acting like she deserved more points for obviously not doing a very good portrait? That's where she lost me.
Greg looked genuinely shocked at her reaction. Can't help contrasting it with how he responded to James' "open the box", taking a half second to put on an expression of obviously playful puzzlement/annoyance. No sweet/fun improv moment was going to happen here.
It got really bad on the team task. Ian Sterling owned the fact that he got visibly angry at Lou, but I can't blame him knowing what Lou is like.
I would have just drawn a banana for Joel. Or predators
Why does he know the capitals of US States?
He's a professional quizzer.
Now!
I really want to ask Greg what made him call the man Chinese, lol.
I mean did you see the photo

🤣😂🤣
ok but why am i so turned on by the first two seconds of this
How does Paul know all of the US capitals when Americans don’t?
Well, his job is to know a lot of trivia
@@THT619 /s
Great example of why I hated Lou. Her reaction to scoring low.
She is very competitive with zero awareness of whether she has been good or bad at someone.
Lou was a horrible choice as a contestant for this season
Phil isn't even a FORMER contestant, Lou should have got 0 points. If not at first (I'd say 1 point, though) then after she complained
He is a former contestant. He was on the series with Rhod Gilbert and James Acaster
I'm sure Joe is a nice enough bloke and he was fine as the straight man in Inbetweeners, but he seems to have minimum personality, charisma or humour, especially for a show like this.
I think that's the point if I'm not mistaken? He's playing a character to be funny. - super dry. I think it's great.
@@sherril8043 Haha, nope. That's ridiculous.
I couldn't disagree more, Joe's awkwardness was incredible to behold, and very relatable.
@@dalluc Yeah, it looks like I'm on my own with this one! Each to his own, I suppose. Cheers.
@@dallucI agree! I found myself thinking Joe was charming, relatable, and very funny! I think that sometimes the over-the-top or outlandish contestants (a la Rhod Gilbert, Iain Sterling, Jo Brand, etc) can be “too much” for me.
I don’t always love people who go for the, in Joe’s words, “wanky workaround” and instead enjoy the people who genuinely earnestly try to do their best at the tasks they’ve been given.
