I’ve also found that when still in the glide mode you can still activate B mode temporarily for around 30 seconds after which the regen bubbles gradually disappear again, useful for a quick bit of regen without having to go through the whole neutral thing.
I've had the CAN bridge for a few days, and like it a lot. This feature works a lot better then I expected. Specially on CC long drives, the temperature do not rice as much as it do not regen. If the speed pick up to much, it is easy to put in ECO and let the car regen down to set speed, then put in D before the end of downhill. Easy. Like the other features as well!
@DalasEVRepair , Hello, just first to say, your channel is the first I followed after buying my Nissan Leaf 2012. It turns out, also the best! Good job you are doing here. Just wondering if you can help me with this one. My car lately start showing exactly the symptoms that you explained here as “GlideInDrive”. I remember I was playing with the N mode while driving the other day, and probably turn it on somehow. But it seems that I can’t turn it off now by using your instructions. Also I imported the car from Norway and do not know whether I have CAN bridge installed (how to check that anyway?). Do you have any ideas? Thanks a lot in advance!
You can use this video to check if you have a CAN-bridge: th-cam.com/video/eLcNSo2Vn6U/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared&t=44 If you dont, maybe your battery is so old that it does not want to regen much anymore? Or it could be that the battery is at so high SOC% that it does not regen.
@DalasEVRepair Thanks a lot for quick response, I am not really into this electronic things, but will try to acquire an OBD and check the SOC and other parameters first. Just confirm that I should use the "Leaf Spy Pro" for it. Also I do not doubt in battery, I can easily commute for 90km with one charge, which should be OK i guess.
I don’t know if it’s just the ZE0 that I have, but once I disable regen I can switch into eco mode to turn the regen back on, then switch back to drive and regen is off again seamlessly.
Me personally would rather zero "throttle release" regeneration and normal brake regeneration. Because if you want to slow down by using the brake pedal, you may as well use regeneration. How can we do that?
Could this CAN bridge be used on the Renault Fluence ZE ? This EV Renault have the same electric engine as the Leaf. The electronic system is different (who knows ?) Could Dala look at this subject ?
hi is it possible to tame down cruse control eg limit the throttle based on speed and allow some over speed before regenerating? eg limit to 2 bars of power at 50 and 4 bars at 100 and allow 10 over before it slows the car. i think car manufactures dont care to do cruse control properly eg dads bmw was set for 80 he was in a 30 zone and went to set the speed not resume it went wide open throttle

@@DalasEVRepair that's cool, wish there was some even faster way to toggle regen on and off :) Does anyone ever use the "voice" button on steering wheel? In theory could the toggle be mapped to that button for instant toggle?
? Why would you do this? If I want to coast (which means slowly losing speed, potentially annoying any cars behind me) I just hold the throttle at a point where the regen isn't engaged, sort of like the one-pedal drive that Nissan talks about having put on the newer Leaf years. Isn't is just about how one manages throttle pressure? It's like a video game: how Many miles can I get from this charge? And sometimes I wish I had more aggressive regen, and I step on the brake, applying enough pressure to *just barely* light up that fourth regen bubble. Admittedly, when I buy the CAN bridge and upgrade to a 62kWh battery, this is simply a feature I would not expect to use, for the reasons above. But is there a different strategy to managing speed that exploits this added capability for more range?
This mode is useful if you want to exercise your friction brakes without regen getting in the way. It is also very useful in co-junction with cruise control, this makes cruise control unable to quickly go down in speed, and having to coast, which raises efficiency. But if you never need this, and are a pro at putting the pedal in the sweetspot for no regen, then this feature is not for you.

Is it possible to only disable the coastregen and not the brakeregen?
Yes, but it requires the CAN-bridge to tap into multiple CAN-channels. Not the standard mounting that is done for battery upgrades!

How does cruise control act with regen disabled, will it use pads when going downhill or just shrug and not accelerate until there's need for it?
It works beautifully! Cruise control just isn't able to go down faster than 0 regen! No pads used!
