The end of this competition, was the beginning of Rich's legacy. "If not for that rope, I don't think I would be a three(fourth) time games champion" - Rich #Galatians6:14
These guys are amazing. They just keep going. Felt so bad for Rich, he was doing good, it was only his technique on the rope climb that let him down. Pretty amazing that he did it with no legs at all once or twice
athleticandre26 it’s been 8 years. How’s it gone since then? I’m just now getting into cross fit. I watch at home and do workouts on my own. Nothing crazy.
One thing to remember in this is the insane level of muscle fatigue they're STARTING this workout with, having done the rest of the competition before.
High Intensity, Interval Training (HIIT) is great. Crossfit is simply combining HIIT with functional/powerful movements. Many Universities and NFL Trainers are now implementing Crossfit into their routines because, simply put, it works. As far as athletes that were never good... Ask Knowshon Moreno or Paul Smith (NFL Running backs) about that. Don't knock it because you don't understand it. Oh, and muscles don't make a fighter (see Anderson Silva).
Don't judge it til you try it. I'v done heavy weight lifting for years and it was totally different than a crossfit workout. It's your 100% for the entire workout.
To be honest I feel as if I wanted to go to my local crossfit thingy and join, I would meet people who have the same personality (Not talking about dedication personality) or even similar. They all tend to emulate each other.
i agree to some degree. i am a crossfitter and a huge fan of the sport and have great respect for these athletes but i did find it boring to watch after the first 10 min. if they could put in some wods that were short and sharp i personally would much prefer that.
It's funny how much bigger every single one of these guys are now. Put these guys in 2010 through the workouts they do now, and none of them would match up. The sport has come a long way.
i don't, i think if he didn't fail this year he wouldnt have had the mental motivation to allow him to win the next two years. In my mind this was the best thing to happen for him
rich just didnt know the technique of rope climbing. its hard using arms only like he was trying to do. if you get a footlock in there, you can literally rest on the rope with no strain; then squat up basically.
Read his book? He thinks if he wouldn't have failed with that rope (ergo won the titel in 2010) he would not have won another title at all (source "First - What it takes to win" by Rich Froning).
Yeah thats cool..i would do it. 5 heats is too real tho...gotta be in running shape. Must have cardio....this would be well for track athletes. This is how we train in the off season...5 heats is un real tho...man.
You don't understand the concept of getting the same results in the least amount of time. There is a difference between lifting the weight overhead with good form for building strength/muscle and lifting the weight overhead as fast a possible. If they did it the way intended to build muscle then they would lose this competition. If the weight was lifted overhead then it's lifted overhead. In 30 min these substandard athletes did more than you could do in an hour. Bet you can't even climb a rope
he didnt use his legs like what everyone else is doing, he didnt have the technique otherwise he would have won, try climb a 20ft rope with arms alone.
well as a crossfitter unfortunately i have to agree 100% with you there. there are a lot of stubborn douchebag crossfitters out there but i bet you anything those are the ones who have never studied fitness properly. i have and still am studying fitness at tafe and i want it on the record i am not one of those douchebag crossfitters. i have clients that want to get bigger so i give them hypertrophy programs not CF i might do the occasional CF 1 a fortnight to help keep them conditiones though.
And after 10 years we have a crossfit legend - Rich Froning 🏆

Crazy to see how crossfit and athlete's physic evolved.
If you are serious about your fitness, there is no way you can dislike this.
Amazing how far the games have come in just two years. Let alone since 2008.
Love all the old vids. Keep them coming.
Wow I couldnt believe the first full round all they had to do then the next one started! Respect!!
23:10 rich froning fail
Thanks
Really getting into this type of training since I saw it on TV. Love challenging myself and I think CrossFit can do it.
athleticandre26 it’s been 8 years. How’s it gone since then? I’m just now getting into cross fit. I watch at home and do workouts on my own. Nothing crazy.
Also it’s covid times so spending time discovering athletic competition like this with zero live sports to watch.
One thing to remember in this is the insane level of muscle fatigue they're STARTING this workout with, having done the rest of the competition before.
This is pure chaos hahaha love it. CrossFit sure has come a long way.
Rich has said in multiple interviews that this was the hardest workout he ever did.
It's you again! Quincy! I've missed you from the Filthy Fifty WOD... I love your funny comments... Such a funny man.
H hi

Matt Chan, owner of CrossFit Verve, 2nd place in 2012 Games, 1st place in SW regional this year.
after a workout like that, you ask the competitors to climb a rope that high with no cushion??? Not safe in my opinion.
its a competition now a workout
bad programming is bad programming, castro didnt consider the athletes safety.
i love Sevan being a commentator
This is so cool! Who knows, any unknown person can win the games this year!
Mat Freaking Fraser!!!!!!!!!
Austin is Badass! met the guy today he's a raw dude..
Although the legless climb won him the title this year...
how heavy is the over head squat?
4 time champ!
🙋🏼♀️
Don't judge it til you try it.
I'v done heavy weight lifting for years and it was totally different than a crossfit workout. It's your 100% for the entire workout.
I was a triathlete for three years and I think it is a similar phenomena, great for the athletes not so good for people watching.
you are right. good point sir
1 word GODS
To be honest I feel as if I wanted to go to my local crossfit thingy and join, I would meet people who have the same personality (Not talking about dedication personality) or even similar. They all tend to emulate each other.
Very true. He made those 405 dl's look light weight
3..2..1 go haha fucking Dave Castro. The contestants were like what the fuck.
you film yourself doing that circuit and then the rest of us will sit here judging how you performed your pressups.

watching this in my pants eating a toffee crisp! YALDI !!!!!
Hi
And it would have been 4, but at the time you commented it would have been 3 - just clarify that no one's original comment was in the wrong.
Talk about a fucking dream team for crossfit!
i don't, i think if he didn't fail this year he wouldnt have had the mental motivation to allow him to win the next two years. In my mind this was the best thing to happen for him
If you go into it not knowing any of the athletes I can imagine it would be boring, but I'm a Froning fan so just pick one guy and root for him haha
А тут есть славяне?
Сила и ккураж
OMG...RICH!!! ,,this motivates me to try the rope,,again,,i can't do the rope...but watching this video ,,i feel like,, if u did it,,,i will 2..:)

its spealler and yes he is
except spealler but he makes up for it by been a beast. quite clearly this guys never heard of jason khalipa
rich just didnt know the technique of rope climbing. its hard using arms only like he was trying to do. if you get a footlock in there, you can literally rest on the rope with no strain; then squat up basically.
How so?
crossfitt looks like strong man( which is badass) with tiny people lifting Little weights and doing cardio.
It surely helped, but the sprint chipper, cinco 1 and cinco 2 is what guaranteed him the win.
Who Won?
yes they can and did after doing all the overhead squats toes 2 bar and wall climbs.
Read his book?
He thinks if he wouldn't have failed with that rope (ergo won the titel in 2010) he would not have won another title at all (source "First - What it takes to win" by Rich Froning).
Holy crap, look at the crowd. You don't think this thing blew up in the past three years, eh?
Yea yea, I've been told a thousand times already. I wrote the comment before the book was released so how could I have known lol
Till this day I don't understand how is it possible Rich didn't know the technique for climbing rope.. How is it even possible
what happen with the leg of rich
I thought they said Mike Chan got 8 more, I was like whaaaaa???
You're wrong, realelias is right. reread what you wrote.
sure, me!
Hi
Don't worry.
Yeah thats cool..i would do it. 5 heats is too real tho...gotta be in running shape. Must have cardio....this would be well for track athletes. This is how we train in the off season...5 heats is un real tho...man.
Wow CF has come a long ways. These wods would get destroyed now days even at a local comp
We love a good throwback, though. What was your favorite event from the Games this year?
@thearaban unfortunately yea
mi
you mean besides everyone in the stands:P
yes, I`m sure.
hi
Did anyone actually watch the whole thirty minutes?
Fronings an Animal. Would have been 3 years in a row if he knew how to climb properly back then
thats true.
i can't even watch the end..
thatz because he started from the other side not like the 1st round

yeah but, when he got home after this games, he practies rope climb and be the best in no time
team rocket?
why dint rich use proper technique on the rope climb? i think he got injured on the first workout
so this is the rope climb incident of rich froning that cost him
i did
@lilrob1200 Graham Holmberg
snap city
who asked owen wilson to do the commentary??
23:14
ha, matt chad
he didnt use his legs like what everyone else is doing, he didnt have the technique otherwise he would have won, try climb a 20ft rope with arms alone.
rich froning. also a firefighter
Their pressups were fucking horrendous.
except that this is not a competition for who can do the most steroids
and theres nothing tiny about any of these guys
"these"
H
Matt Chad?!?

What?
None of them could lift 3x their bodyweight overhead, please don't exaggerate.
And there are people still believing CF is for weak
321go wtf
So true, but is weird to see rich froning fail at something
