Haha!. The left side red button is an air horn. The next one over is a custom button I had created that has an old school Cylon at the top and the bottom says "By your Command", which is what those guys always said. The center "Eject" button is the stock cigarette lighter with the Eject piece bought on Aliexpress. To the right of that is a 3.1 Amp USB charger that only energizes when the car is running. On the very right is an empty hole. but the piece that goes in the hole are USB connectors that go to the back of the head unit. So I can plug in a hard drive with movies, music etc.
Subscribed. I currently have an Xtrons PF75AA3A unit that I purchased in mid-2016 for my 2010 Audi A3. As I type this, I am awaiting delivery of an Xtrons IQ80A3AL (Android-11, 6GB RAM/128GB ROM) for the same car. I am really hoping that the boot time is improved...and the Apple CarPlay experience is one that is close to what I have in my other vehicles that have CarPlay enabled OEM head units (VW & Chevrolet). I'm waiting on a reply from Xtrons Customer Service with details...but they have said that I will need to 'buy a code' so that Wired CarPlay will function. Weird. Anyway. I came across your videos while doing research, and I am anxious to see what you release next. Thanks for the detailed overviews! Cheers
Thanks! Yeah Xtrons customer service and tech help are a bit lower quality than we in the western world are used to. My plan was to go over the settings of the unit as well as some app replacements. However I’ve been overwhelmed with paying work, and the house I’m in sold so I gotta move and that’s occupying a bunch of time too.
@@KeirBriscoe - Good luck with the move...and I totally understand the being busy with work thing, my work life had been insane. I'm conflicted about this whole head unit upgrade. The 'new' radio is set to be delivered today...but I also woke up to an e-mail from Xtrons Customer Support telling me that their previous info regarding WIRED CarPlay was incorrect. *They had said that I could 'change a code' in the Settings to utilize WIRED CarPlay (which is what I want) instead of the WIRELESS connection they advertise in their list of features. Not sure if I still want to swap radios... I know the new unit would be faster, but I don't know if the upgrade is worth the cost now that I know WIRED CarPlay is not possible. Anyway. Again. Hi.. did you have any issues with the install on this. Nothing seems to work, no GPS, no DAB, cant hear people on the phone. I have installed the same unit on my Audi A4 B7. I notice the unit didn’t come with any installation guide which doesn’t help.
The only issue I have had is when I leave the wifi on the unit will occasionally freeze on startup. Its happened a handfull of times over the years, and a power reset fixes the issue. Xtrons was not able to provide a solution. But then their tech service is not the best.
