    I just ardered a 1 inch body lift kit from makellis, it's going on my 2019 sv 4x4 crew cab... I want to do it, but I'm confused about the brake line being the drivers front wheel... You mentioned it but I never heard any more about it... Also what about the front skid plate? Do I remove it and drill new holes? I'm capable, I just need detailed info... Thanks...

    • @daywalker4029
      @daywalker4029 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      your brake lines will be fine with the 1" kit. if you're concerned about them though, you can unbolt them and make a small bracket. also, the factory skid plate will still bolt up in the factory location as the body lift doesn't affect the front impact bar.

  • @JayGaulard
    @JayGaulard 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Quick question: how long does this entire job usually take? We tried to tackle this today and I am at a loss as to how to handle the brake lines that are connected to both the body and the frame up front as well as how to handle the fuel fill hose and the gas lines that are connected to both the body and the frame in the rear. The steering linkage is a right pain in the butt and the air intake on top of the engine is as well. How do you handle the radiator hoses? I feel like there are dozens of areas that were left out of this video. Was this merely an instructional on how to install the body mounts themselves, because it seems like most of the work involves the other areas I mentioned above. Please let me know. Thank you.

    • @daywalker4029
      @daywalker4029 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      what size lift are you trying to put in? if it's a 1" you do not need to mess with anything. simply raise the body and install the body lift. i did remove my intake tube before install though. the Mikellis kit comes with step by step instructions if you do decide on a 2" and it is more involved. i have had zero issues with the truck since installed this 1" kit.

    • @JayGaulard
      @JayGaulard 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@daywalker4029 I am having trouble believing that stretching the rigid front brake lines by one inch would cause no issues. Or stretching the upper and lower rigid radiator hoses. Or stretching the fuel fill tube and fuel lines. From what I found after taking the truck apart, it would be a nightmare to separate the body from the frame, even by a small amount. It's not that I don't believe it can be done, I think it's more of a tolerance thing with my personality, perhaps. I'd be curious to see some before and after shots of the most critical areas I'm referring to, just out of curiosity. I like the idea of a body lift, but to me, it would take far too much time and expense to do it correctly. To properly extend each of the areas I mentioned above.
