    Appreciate the shout out and kind words Raz 🤗. That FG is absolutely Gorgeous 👀. Talk about Beast. Not sure what happened with your XLX2. Think it was probably a bad unit. Should take harsh hits no problem. The locked center diff might be too much for the outdrives though. A little give with straight Silicone ear plugs will probably work better 👍. M2C Overkill outdrives use hardened tool steel pins. Probably far better than GPM. Don't sweat the rough jumps my friend. as soon as i saw the thumb nail i thought CASTLE CREMATIONS! personally i don’t think castle creations systems are for bashing. they have plenty in of power don’t get me wrong but i’d rather spend by money on a more reliable 1/5/1/6 esc like the MAX5 the prototype xlx2 esc were great but the ones castle has released to the public have been carp sense 3 years so far they have been catching fire an esc gets loads of abuse in basher cars all the throttle control in the air to correct the car and even accelerating from a dead stop (what raz did) the thing still smoked i think castle esc and motor combos are good in speed run cars and crawlers but hobbywing is more reliable in a car like the Outcast 8s EXB as far as my knowledge a old traxxas esc would last longer than a xlx2 in a bashing state of abuse that’s my opinion and your free to have your own

    I am so glad I saw this video. This is the EXACT same thing that happen to me 3 times in 1 month with my XLX2 ESC. My original xlx2 esc lasted months and was indestructible, then 3 in a row all caught on fire within 1 month (some on the first run) . Common theme was the car landed upside down each time, started cogging, and then blew.

      Exact same thing happened to me on my second unit, it stopped moving, cogged, then blew up. My third one was getting ready to blow up after a small impact. It landed on it's roof too, gave me an excessive load error with no throttle. Ran over, took the body off, turned it off, then back on. Smoke came out and I immediately turned it off again. I'm glad I was able to even turn the damn thing off, I almost lost another set of brand new batteries.

    To be fair everything was fine, Id suggest changing to a hobbywing Max5 800kv setup with 34/39 motor and spur gear. Outdrives need to be M2C Racing or Scorchedparts. Finally when mid air the trigger needs to be fully pressed to make backflips. Center diff with silicone earplugs work a dream 😁👌.

    Put 100k front and rear diff fluid and 500k in the center diff. Use a cheap ESC motor combo like a hobby wing and a TP or leopard motor. They seem to do well when bashing. M2C drive shafts. You will then be ready to bash with the best of them. It's not your driving. Locking the diff on a basher destroys everything and it needs to give a little. You got this. You're the RC Goat!

    I think xlx2 are hit or miss and I think they work better for on road. Cause ever off road build seems to go up in flames. This is why when I decided to try building a 2wd slash to try hitting 120mph+ with I used the castle mmx8s. haven't hit my mark yet cause I've literally shattered tranny gears about 8 times so far because of all the power and fact that I blew out 5 tires as well. Lol. obviously i still need to play with settings and whatnot and get the perfect pass working with everything properly just havent had time to rebuild tranny and play with it in awhile. I've had setup for about 9 months now and beat the living shit (about 6 months of everyday abuse) out of the slash with the mmx8s and haven't had a single problem with the power system at all.

    Would definitely reach out to Castle about the ESC, just to see what they say. With the diff, I would of used thick silicone earplugs to still allow a bit of movement (given enough force) whilst still driving as if it's locked, and maybe slightly thicker oil in the front diff for better front end pull when drifting around. Castle isn’t the blame anymore. No body else is burning xlx2. I think it over revved bcs it was just front wheel. The edit film was just 3 minutes we don’t know how long he ran that with a broken diff.

    • @IRONCaptainPanic
      @IRONCaptainPanic 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@AutoBodyEverything I have nothing against castle, they make extremely powerful electronics that don't compare to others, but castle needs to do something about the xlx2 esc's, I am not a pin it wide open basher like these guys are, but 2 of these esc's I have bought, and some of my friends bought who also drive like me have set fire under lower cell batteries, we don't run our rc's past 4 or 6 cell, and they still blow up. I don't know what's going on with them, but at a couple rc meets in Michigan I've went to had over 4 esc fires because of this. system, I've been in this hobby for 6 years and those esc's are something I don't mess with after my experience.

      @@IRONCaptainPanic exactly. It’s the esc for sure. It’s unfortunate cause they are a powerhouse

    • @IRONCaptainPanic
      @IRONCaptainPanic 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@deontay79ify that's what I'm thinking, castle creations had made some rc killing motors and esc's over the years, and if this esc wasn't a slight bit of a time bomb, it very well could almost overthrow the hobbywing max esc's altogether, there has to be one main component on the esc's pcb board that is causing this almost outlet sounding pop when it shorts out. The soda can sized motor is very close to the primal rc raminator electric conversion kit, and if castle revises the esc and does some stress testing and locate the problem, this system might be able to be a budget electric conversion kit for the raminator, I am not saying it would 100% work for a kit, but it has potential. For me it's just sad seeing a brand that I've trusted for years of the insane power I crave, slowly, and literally, go up in flames, I'm not ditching Castle yet, I probably wouldn't ever do that, but a thing your so invested into with thousands of dollars put into it to have the most fun since you were younger, burn up and destroy your rc, is not worth the stress of looking at an overdone Thanksgiving turkey. I would be extremely upset. And I'm pretty sure everyone who's had this happen to them is hopefully going to wait until this esc's revised

    I have a ton of GPM parts on my kraton 8s. From what i've learned, structural parts like tie rods, steering components, braces, hubs, and most of the a arms are great. The drivetrain parts are not so great. The metal is too soft. Even if its nice and solid when you get it, the holes that the pins are pressed into will stretch out under power and they'll loosen up and fall out. Theyre also very easy to bend by hand. Eventually I'll switch to M2C axles/shafts but for the 6 months i've had it the stock axles have been just fine (better than the gpm for sure).
    I'm running a Max5 and spektrum 5687 1100kv with 30/47 gearing and it has enough power to backflip even the kraton chassis, runs cool, and is rock solid reliable. Maybe consider a hobbywing esc for the basher? I've never melted a castle but maybe i've just been lucky.
    I've run silicone plugs in the center since day 1 and its been great.

Zap-a-gap is awesome, especially the green labelled type, we nick named it "chin glue" as it would VERY easily stick ya chin to a steering wheel, like in the movies lol.

    I run m2c drive shafts because I was bending stock ones every session and so far their holding up and are all dead straight after 5 bashes. M2c also have released some thicker ones a few weeks ago so they will be extra durable.
    I've seen alot of Castle mambas catching fire including Kevin tolbert so for that reason I just run hobbywing. We all have bad landings but the car shouldn't be catching fire. Ditch that Castle esc bro. Your rc cars look hard. Can't wait to see that quad set up running.

    The yikes factor watching you glue the planetary gears together was 8/10. All good trucks deserve a 'posi-traction' rear diff but you could have taken out the gears and used set-screws / pinion screws some how.. Wish you better luck.

    I wonder how long it will take until people finally understand Castle can't make proper products. Their ESC's have sadly never been reliable, with fanboys claiming it's always user error.

    That was unlucky raz, jump wasn't great, but come on, they should take that no problem. Wasn't the worst crash ever was it.
    I know kev Talbot had a couple go up in smoke doing nothing wrong with them, possibly a faulty batch maybe.
    Silicone earplugs would probably work better in the diff rather than glue it in solid.
    Look forward to seeing that r8 build 👌

    You need to run an in-line fuse from the battery to the ESC and start at like 80 A and keep bumping it til it can handle the speed you want. I used to have a classic Futaba ESC that came with a fuse.

      I had an XLX2 manufactured roughly 10 months after the release, that one blew up and I only ran it on flat ground with no impacts. My second one was manufactured in 2022, and it took a small impact and died. I wanted to believe they fixed the issue, but obviously they haven't.

      @@NepDouble07 I just had one burn up on me to I was calibrating my perfect pass you know Erving the motor and stopping it. Then the esc just stopped working then the next day I plugged it in to a lipo to see if I could fix it and it sizzled and burned up in my house. I was pissed. They haven’t fixed anything the xlx2 can be a very fragile esc but then there’s some that take a beating and keep working others burn up. Don’t know why. Maybe bad design or something

    Xlx2 is for speedruns not hardcore bashing. They’re a fire hazard you don’t need datalogs for jumps and backflips. You should have used a hobby wing esc and motor. At least you listened and swapped out those driveshafts. That spektrum servo needs to go. The chassis and chassis braces and shock towers need to be upgraded. That locked center diff will lead to more broken parts. You should’ve used 1 mill diff oil. Rcdude and rich have to spend the price of a new car on upgrades just to make them bash worthy. He bent the new tactical truck chassis on 2nd day. Spending $800 in upgrade parts for a $1000 rc to make it bulletproof is counterproductive. Every upgrade puts stress on weak spots...
