Hi, thank you for uploading this video. I've found your calculator very useful. I am initating myself on copper electroforming for jewelry and I have, perhaps, a silly doubt, what is the amount of microns necessary to create a nice deposit for jewelry pieces? And second question, does change the microns if after plating my piece I want to modify the piece such making holes, bending... Thank you for your attention, the truth is that I've found little information about small-scale electroforming on the internet.
Hi Julia, Thank you for your positive feedback! The thickness of deposit is entirely up to you. If you are electroforming on to something that is flexible (a leaf, for example) you might want to deposit enough copper to make the item rigid. About 500 microns would probably be the minimum. If the item is alteady rigid then you could depostit less metal - it's your choice. Bending and drilling into the deposit won't change the thickness - only stripping it away by filing, polishing or possibly acid etching would take away the metal. Hope this helps! Thank you Denise! In Spain, where I am from, it is SO difficult to find information about electroforming. Yesterday I did the first test with a beautiful shell with help of your online calculator and come up with a bright thick shinny copper :)
Ive always fancied having a go at this and have uses for it, unfortunately its price prohibitive as the kits are so damned expensive. Unless using these kits constantly and getting good mark ups on restoration jobs I can never see me doing this :( Great video though
We have a project that shows how this can be done - here's a link to our online manual and our section on electroforming www.goldn.co.uk/electroplating-support/subject/electroforming/
I want to order some of your copper brightener but can you let me know if it will work with my home made solution? My home made solution is acid based (Sulphuric). I will be making up a brand new solution for the brightener and just want to know if my parts will come out as shiny as the soldier in the video. Thanks.
Thank you for your enquiry. You can use our brightener with your home made solution. You will need to add 25ml of our Copper Electroforming Brightener for every litre of your home-made solution.
@@SpaPlatingUK Thank you for your quick reply, one last question before I order, .... Will I need to buy this as well .. Copper Electroforming Replenisher? .... What exactly does this do? Can I use the brightener without this? ... Thanks.
@@EssexSilvering You don't need the Copper Electroforming Replenisher if you are using copper anodes which I presume you are. The only time you need Copper Electroforming Replenisher is if you are using our inert platinum electrodes.
Hi Manfred, thank you for your question. The difference is one of thickness of plate - anything above 50 microns is regarded as electroforming. Denise Palmer Marketing Director Spa Plating
@@SpaPlatingUK - Isnt Electroforming where you make a new object (i.e remove the plated material from the model after plating) - while Electroplating is where you add a layer of plating to the object?
Sorry for the late reply! You can use our online plating calculators to electroform to your required thickness www.goldn.co.uk/copper-electroforming-calculator/

Good to hear that!
nice video. but it remains question in my mind. is it possible we do chrome electroplating after copper plating? will the result be good?
Chrome plating is tricky, but it would require a copper plate first, to make it stick.
Tap water is not good you need distilled water
How is it that the part comes out so shiny without polishing?
It's the nature of our process; the combination of our equipment and plating solutions.

@@EssexSilvering Hi Dave, Thanks for your order. We'll sent your order today by FedEx.
is it possible to brush plating such a small and irregular object? is the result the same?
thanks
It is possible but electroforming gives you a better result.
Why is this referred to as electroforming not electroplating?
Hi Manfred, thank you for your question. The difference is one of thickness of plate - anything above 50 microns is regarded as electroforming.

Search on youtube video Terminator frog. Spray on copper.
How thick is the microns per layer?
