Another few things to add is that in JC2 the world map had DRASTICALLY varying environments. From the sunny beaches\ islands, to the huge swamps, forests, the snow regions which actually had bases in them, the awesome desert region which is completely missing in 3, and the HUGE bustling city full of sky scrapers and beautiful skylines. Through the map are also a ton of unique places to visit. No two towns felt exactly the same and there were crazy places like the casino resort, skull island, the Mile High Club flying in the sky, etc. In 3 they completely took a fat shit on all of that as every single town looks the same, the "big city" is small as shit and one of the most empty environments in the whole game as there's not even more than 1 or 2 npc's hanging around there. Again, 3 has way less variety in its map as a third of the whole place is water, and pretty much only beaches, forest, and snow areas. The second thing is that idk if people remember this, but JC2 had around over 200 side missions that all had you doing different shit for different gang leaders. I remember one side mission sent you to the island from Lost and it was cool as fuck. In JC3 there are no side missions, there's only like 6 different kinds of stupid mini games that you have to constantly repeat to get any unlocks. And I got 100% completion in JC3! Fun game but idk why they made the mistakes I just mentioned as they already had done that shit right in the last game
Because if they focused on that people would have said the graphics look like a 360 game or something like Fallout 4. People complain about everything, nothing is perfect.

I had the same problem with Just Cause 2. Eventually, tethering things and blowing stuff up loses its luster. It's like a never-ending roller coaster. Fun in theory, but there just comes a point where I start to grow bored of this thing that's supposed to be amazing and that angers me. Hour 1: "EEEEEEEXXXXXXPLOOOOOOSSSSSSIOOOOOOOONS!!!!! YEEEEEES!!!" Hour 2: "EXPLOSIONS! YES!" Hour 3: "Explosions. Nice." Hour 4 "Explosions... yipee... Hour 5: "Those sure are some more explosions..."

Sadly though i feel the missions in just cause 3 seem to be much less in quantity and much more repetitive than just cause 2's agency missions. Just cause 2 also had a more "James Bond" feel to it if you get what i mean, like speed boats with missiles and machine guns on top of them. The tropical island was also a better setting. I think im gonna have to reinstall just cause 2...

just brought the game( for 30$ including season pass) and I have to agree with your review. The driving. mechanism is atrocious ( the car will ping off even if you hit a normal civilian). The game does crash sometimes. Also the story mission are mostly, protect thus, destroy that. And the world feels empty. it is big, but all the settlement's end up feeling the same. Also there are a few graphical glitches. Glad I listened to your review and waited for a sale to buy this

Joe Schena hey, i had crashing and freezing during my time with this game and want to know if you experienced similar issues. It was 95% unplayable for me, and there are framerate issues. And just to clarify, this is the only game that had ever done this on my xbox one so i know it's something wrong with the game. But now im enjoying Watch Dogs 2 (: but i do love the destruction in this game ;(
This games frame rate is still horrible. The latest patch made the frame rate even worse than what it was! This is some backwards progress if you asked me.
Despite the fact that they're bigger, and have more resources, reviewers like IGN and Gamespot just don't have the same quality, organization, and empathy for the consumer found in your reviews. Thanks for your review. I really enjoyed exploring the world & collecting everything in JC2, and MS store has JC3 XL edition for $17 at the moment, so I went ahead and grabbed it despite the (expected) lackluster plot and framerate issues. Not a bad deal for a large sandbox and 3 DLCs.

I like acg not only for the well spoken, well structured, and creativity written reviews, but honestly I feel like he's one of the very few reviewers out there who actually goes in depth when talking about frame rate issues. frame drops can, for me, absolutely ruin an otherwise good game. At best breaking immersion and at worst effectively getting me killed. it's nice when a you find a critic who not only tells it like it is, but seemingly cares about a lot of the same stuff you find important in games as well. not to mention the often hilarious metaphors and analogies he likes to use. you sir should have more subscribers.

Never had issues with fps on PC, granted I'm running it on a 980. buttery smooth 60fps with everything maxed. picked it up for ~$35 on g2a which is about what I'd say the game is worth.
I bought it on a sale and it is the greatest game I have ever....I repeat...EVER! played. It is just so amazing. If any of you aren't sure go ahead and buy it if you have a good computer, definitely worth your money.

I was playing with my friend who had seen the reviews before playing and neither of us had many issues with the framerate. Yes it could be better but does it ruin the game? No far from it. At one point we had 5 helicopters shooting missiles at us did it become unplayable? No not in the slightest. Trust your own opinion not someone else's.

TheBossMan guess it's just not for me. The first time I started flying around and grappling on to stuff it was amazing, but after a while I got used to it. Still a fun game tho.
Definitely agree on the short burst point, I tried to take this as a serious game, where really that led to rage quitting. My advice is to lay back and go crazy, die (as a perfectionist this was hard to grasp lol, still can be), and learn from it so you can create a bigger boom As a side note this game was free on a PS Plus deal, so I can't get too critical. It's a great free/low price game, but an average to iffy 60 dollar game
davefan16 It has singleplayer but it fairly shallow. Missions are called "situations" while challenging there is not much depth. Terrorist hunt and multiplayer are virtually identical. Was able to get it for 45 with best buys gamer unlock along with a coupon.

For consoles, what graphical improvements, if any, can we expect from post release patches? How significant can these be? I was a huge fan of JC2 so I'm still very excited to pick up JC3 today, but I'm surprised the FPS is THAT bad. It's certainly deceiving when you watch all of the pre-release JC3 videos on TH-cam.
+LB1280 not sure. Lots of CPU and GPU problems on both consoles going on but they both drop far below 30 and depending on the action it can be for a good deal of time.

With games like Battlefront, Halo 5, Destiny, etc that want you to pay more to get what should be in the base game, Just Cause 3 gives you a ton of shit to do. I don't agree with this review at all. Its a fun sandbox game and the best version is PC.
Agreed. People are okay with repetitive gameplay when it comes to Black ops and assassins creed but when Just cause does it people get annoyed. Makes sense. Your ways of taking on bases are endless.
Some people have asked about the frame rate on these current consoles. Well, although they had people talking about how easy these consoles would be to develop for, it's not true because of one thing - that APU. Unlike the previous consoles which had a GPU (graphics processor) and a CPU doing the work similar to most PCs, the console makers went with the cheaper APU which is like an all in one chip. It does the work for the graphics and the CPU. Although it can produce decent graphics for consoles, the CPU side is the weak area where it's lacking - which is common for an APU found in notebooks and maybe tablets. The last console generation was pretty long and there wasn't a cheaper solution to a next generation console at the time as far as parts go unless they were going to pass the cost on you all and risk not selling many consoles at all. Everyone remembers $599 US Dollars PS3, which squandered away all of the PS2 clout and popularity with that price tag and made people go with the cheaper Xbox 360. No one wants that. The type of console they would want to give you just isn't affordable and they went with weaker parts, specifically the APU, which is where all of the drama lies with so many of these newer games that tie the frame rate and physics with the engine so they can try to make things stable enough to run on something that really isn't made directly for gaming - or just isn't strong enough yet. In a 2-3 more years, parts will be cheap enough to build a proper console in mass. However, we all know, by the time consoles reach stability, it'll be old news. I don't think 1080p/60 fps is bad, but I think it shouldn't have ever been mentioned with these consoles as a thing in the first place considering all of the sub-resolutions the games were running at on the previous consoles. It wasn't a big deal for those two at the time. AngryCentaurGaming, good review. Besides the frame rate on this game, everything you said about it, I told people it was gonna be when the first screenshots started coming out a few months ago. It was the same thing that was a problem with Just Cause 2 and it got high 8's and even 9's.
The reason for the missing content in the story is because it is a sandbox game. It's just meant for having fun and gliding around the world in a wingsuit. I enjoy it a lot, but yeah it does get kinda old, and the frame drops kinda sucks too. To be honest i still enjoy the game but I think it will eventually get old.
Yeah I would recommend getting just cause 2 and get this later for like 20 30$ if you really want it. Unfortunately this game just isn't that good and they also removed some things from the last game like sprinting and rolling.
I can completly recommend jc2 and if you add a graphic mod, the game will look nice (you have to remind how "old" the game is). Furthermore you have a really funny multiplayer (if you are playing with friends)
Well I'm definitely not buying this now. I just finished Fallout 4 so I was looking to get a new game and this was at the top of my list but after the horrendous fps issues Fallout 4 has I really don't think I can handle any more. I'm glad I saw this before buying haha.

I only played the demo for Just Cause 2 which was timed for 30 minutes and had a pretty decent size chunk of the map unlocked to mess around in. I must have played it easily 15 times. I thought it was really fun, but here's the thing I never felt like I could justify purchasing it. It was fun but I knew that it was mainly just shooting things and blowing up things, and while fun in short 30 min to 1 hours burst. I knew that I would become bored with it extremely fast. And after watching your review I've come to the same conclusion about this game. Looks really fun but personally I'd get bored pretty quick. Thanks again for the review btw.
Keep an eye out for it going on Steam Sale during Winter or Summer. I picked up just Cause 2 for something like $2.50. Seriously. Was 80-90% off the listing price of around $20. That's a hell of a good deal. I ended up putting 38 hours into it. I also got Just Cause 1 for $0.25 during a steam sale but never played it. Bought it because $0.25 game lol.

You'd both be getting similar performance. Even if you have the 4gb version of the 960 they both have similar speeds and stack up on most sites I've looked at comparing them. For me they lowered this game to exactly what you say: "sale". i am sure that I would enjoy the game but the game seems to me a bit shallow and i know that the framerate issues will annoy me quite a bit (console gamer) so i rather wait a couple of months.

just brought the game( for 30$ including season pass) and I have to agree with your review. The driving. mechanism is atrocious ( the car will ping off even if you hit a normal civilian). The game does crash sometimes. Also the story mission are mostly, protect thus, destroy that. And the world feels empty. it is big, but all the settlement's end up feeling the same. Also there are a few graphical glitches. Glad I listened to your review and waited for a sale to buy this

Joe Schena hey, i had crashing and freezing during my time with this game and want to know if you experienced similar issues. It was 95% unplayable for me, and there are framerate issues. And just to clarify, this is the only game that had ever done this on my xbox one so i know it's something wrong with the game. But now im enjoying Watch Dogs 2 (: but i do love the destruction in this game ;(

I am on low graphics and get mostly 30-40 FPS, with some frame drops as well. I found myself having a lot more fun with this one than JC2.
This games frame rate is still horrible. The latest patch made the frame rate even worse than what it was! This is some backwards progress if you asked me.

Thanks for your review. I really enjoyed exploring the world & collecting everything in JC2, and MS store has JC3 XL edition for $17 at the moment, so I went ahead and grabbed it despite the (expected) lackluster plot and framerate issues. Not a bad deal for a large sandbox and 3 DLCs.

I like acg not only for the well spoken, well structured, and creativity written reviews, but honestly I feel like he's one of the very few reviewers out there who actually goes in depth when talking about frame rate issues. frame drops can, for me, absolutely ruin an otherwise good game. At best breaking immersion and at worst effectively getting me killed. it's nice when a you find a critic who not only tells it like it is, but seemingly cares about a lot of the same stuff you find important in games as well. not to mention the often hilarious metaphors and analogies he likes to use. you sir should have more subscribers.

What I didn't like (not hate) about this game is the lack of content. The island of Medici only exists to be blown up, and not to be enjoyed. But it's still included in my video-game-places-I-want-to-visit list.

Never had issues with fps on PC, granted I'm running it on a 980. buttery smooth 60fps with everything maxed. picked it up for ~$35 on g2a which is about what I'd say the game is worth.
I bought it on a sale and it is the greatest game I have ever....I repeat...EVER! played. It is just so amazing. If any of you aren't sure go ahead and buy it if you have a good computer, definitely worth your money.

I was playing with my friend who had seen the reviews before playing and neither of us had many issues with the framerate. Yes it could be better but does it ruin the game? No far from it. At one point we had 5 helicopters shooting missiles at us did it become unplayable? No not in the slightest.

I've heard mostly bad things about this game, but it look so fun.
If you can deal with the frame drops, and enjoyed Just Cause 2, this is a must buy in my opinion.

Definitely agree on the short burst point, I tried to take this as a serious game, where really that led to rage quitting.
My advice is to lay back and go crazy, die (as a perfectionist this was hard to grasp lol, still can be), and learn from it so you can create a bigger boom
As a side note this game was free on a PS Plus deal, so I can't get too critical. It's a great free/low price game, but an average to iffy 60 dollar game

davefan16 It has singleplayer but it fairly shallow. Missions are called "situations" while challenging there is not much depth. Terrorist hunt and multiplayer are virtually identical. Was able to get it for 45 with best buys gamer unlock along with a coupon.

For consoles, what graphical improvements, if any, can we expect from post release patches? How significant can these be? I was a huge fan of JC2 so I'm still very excited to pick up JC3 today, but I'm surprised the FPS is THAT bad. It's certainly deceiving when you watch all of the pre-release JC3 videos on TH-cam.
+LB1280 not sure. Lots of CPU and GPU problems on both consoles going on but they both drop far below 30 and depending on the action it can be for a good deal of time.

With games like Battlefront, Halo 5, Destiny, etc that want you to pay more to get what should be in the base game, Just Cause 3 gives you a ton of shit to do. I don't agree with this review at all. Its a fun sandbox game and the best version is PC.

Some people have asked about the frame rate on these current consoles. Well, although they had people talking about how easy these consoles would be to develop for, it's not true because of one thing - that APU. Unlike the previous consoles which had a GPU (graphics processor) and a CPU doing the work similar to most PCs, the console makers went with the cheaper APU which is like an all in one chip. It does the work for the graphics and the CPU. Although it can produce decent graphics for consoles, the CPU side is the weak area where it's lacking - which is common for an APU found in notebooks and maybe tablets.
The last console generation was pretty long and there wasn't a cheaper solution to a next generation console at the time as far as parts go unless they were going to pass the cost on you all and risk not selling many consoles at all. Everyone remembers $599 US Dollars PS3, which squandered away all of the PS2 clout and popularity with that price tag and made people go with the cheaper Xbox 360. No one wants that. The type of console they would want to give you just isn't affordable and they went with weaker parts, specifically the APU, which is where all of the drama lies with so many of these newer games that tie the frame rate and physics with the engine so they can try to make things stable enough to run on something that really isn't made directly for gaming - or just isn't strong enough yet.
In a 2-3 more years, parts will be cheap enough to build a proper console in mass. However, we all know, by the time consoles reach stability, it'll be old news. I don't think 1080p/60 fps is bad, but I think it shouldn't have ever been mentioned with these consoles as a thing in the first place considering all of the sub-resolutions the games were running at on the previous consoles. It wasn't a big deal for those two at the time.
AngryCentaurGaming, good review. Besides the frame rate on this game, everything you said about it, I told people it was gonna be when the first screenshots started coming out a few months ago. It was the same thing that was a problem with Just Cause 2 and it got high 8's and even 9's.

The reason for the missing content in the story is because it is a sandbox game. It's just meant for having fun and gliding around the world in a wingsuit. I enjoy it a lot, but yeah it does get kinda old, and the frame drops kinda sucks too. To be honest i still enjoy the game but I think it will eventually get old.

Yeah I would recommend getting just cause 2 and get this later for like 20 30$ if you really want it. Unfortunately this game just isn't that good and they also removed some things from the last game like sprinting and rolling.

Get the dlc if you can - they are not essential but can be pretty fun like a monster truck and fighter jet and Rico's Gun.
I can completly recommend jc2 and if you add a graphic mod, the game will look nice (you have to remind how "old" the game is). Furthermore you have a really funny multiplayer (if you are playing with friends)

Well I'm definitely not buying this now. I just finished Fallout 4 so I was looking to get a new game and this was at the top of my list but after the horrendous fps issues Fallout 4 has I really don't think I can handle any more. I'm glad I saw this before buying haha.

I only played the demo for Just Cause 2 which was timed for 30 minutes and had a pretty decent size chunk of the map unlocked to mess around in. I must have played it easily 15 times. I thought it was really fun, but here's the thing I never felt like I could justify purchasing it. It was fun but I knew that it was mainly just shooting things and blowing up things, and while fun in short 30 min to 1 hours burst. I knew that I would become bored with it extremely fast. And after watching your review I've come to the same conclusion about this game. Looks really fun but personally I'd get bored pretty quick. Thanks again for the review btw.
Keep an eye out for it going on Steam Sale during Winter or Summer. I picked up just Cause 2 for something like $2.50. Seriously. Was 80-90% off the listing price of around $20. That's a hell of a good deal. I ended up putting 38 hours into it.
I also got Just Cause 1 for $0.25 during a steam sale but never played it. Bought it because $0.25 game lol.

The same consoles the devs themselves have addmited aren't up to par framerate wise and are trying to fix and patch up. I mean if you have a magical console and have the raw footage to prove different than everyone else. I would inform them.
