A year ago i bought a C200 manual silver color 4 door kompressor for R90k . Yesterday it krept just over 90000kms after i had it serviced two months ago at Mercedes Benz Malmesbury. Wel i,ve had 5 mercs in my lifetime and this 2005 model with this low mileage drives like a dream. Thank you for the same love i have for these cars. I,m 76 nearly 77 and this will be my last Merc. Very good cars by far !!! Toyota is my second best , also have a Hilux
I wanted the Volvo. I was an IDIOT not to travel to see it...i was ill, true, but now feel ill every time I see it :-). Beautiful car. Of all the cars, if one wants to be sensible, the Fox is the thing to go for. However to get one with those kms is not at all easy.
Neat Video. Thank you. I believe that is the last of the Mercs which has the same classic shape of a Mercedes Benz car. I daily Drive a Jetta Mk3, and I agree with you about pre2000 vs post2000 cars. Older cars tend to have smaller and cheaper tyres, generally, reducing the cars running costs. Looking forward to your next video. Much Respect, Cheers.
I just bought a w202 c230 Kompressor 1998. Man, What great value! Thanks so much for your info Merc Guy. Been watching your channel since I bought my w202 . We are so grateful for you sharing your knowledge
@oldmercguy the very sad story of how I inherited the car... it was bought new by my brother's mother. He then drove it for years. Sadly after his murder I inherited the car......... it seems to be a reality in SA at the moment 😕
It can certainly be done. I bought a 1989 Golf mk2 1.6 in Aug for R23k. 91k kilometres, barnfind that did not run since 2000. Got it running by cleaning out fuel system etc. Paint is polishing up beautifully, interior like new. I reckon this car can be perfect runner for below R50k, including a set of period correct alloys. Opportunities like this are maybe a bit scarce though.
Ssang Yong Kyron. Unbelievable vehicle. 4x4. Auto. Aircon. Bags. Very strong body. Two litre mb diesel. Also a 2.7. Check this out for value. Nobody steals them. Never lock.
I loved the video and I do agree with you, I don't buy expensive cars and more or new cars. I bought my bmw x5 from webuycars for R62 000 and it's been an amazing car, my daily for the last 2 year. My wife bought a merc gla200 last year from webuycars and paid R230 000 for it, cash, this year she wants to sell it and she's probably going to lose R30 to R50 000, I did warn her when she bought the cat, but she likes new and flashy. Anyhow, nice video. Next I want to buy a bmw e39 5 series for under R50k.
Different world we can get daily reliable cars for around R8000 here in uk😂 SA prices are crazy, it's thanks to SA government apparently protecting local manufacturing.
I disagree it's not a job creation product, it's very robotic now. So the high car prices hit a poor country the most. Restrictions and protection of industry is communist.
@@nealyardy4602well, your comment is not quite true for the South African model. As car lovers we do hate that we can't simply import whichever cars we would like, and we are well aware how cheaply second hand cars can be acquired in the EU, England etc Having said that, the motor industry in SA does employ many people, and the subsidiary and related industries which support the manufacturers employ even more. Another fact about the South African model is that where in the first world, salaries support only the nuclear family, here one salary often supports an extended family, which could number 6 to 10 people or even more. Here are a few numbers of employment stats for the well known brands: VW SA employs 3500 people, Ford SA employs 5500 people and another 60 000 in the value chain, Mercedes Benz SA employs 3400 people, BMW SA employs 2000 people and 23 000 people in the value chain, Nissan SA employs 1600 people, Toyota SA employs 7200 people.
In my humble opinion for that price in no particular order : Hyundai Getz, older Fiesta or 1st Gen Jazz ( bit tough for 50k bit it is possible privately). I choose these due to parts available and airbags/ abs. I would also consider a Toyota Camry or Tazz. As a 2nd car I would consider that mazda mx6 or an e36, maybe a honda prelude
Recently bought a w202 98 c250 TD. Car still feels great but does have a powerstearing gearbox leak, driver seat is done, AC still cools but fan behaves eratically, some minor trim missing. Can you recommend someone for spares or a reputable mechanic in Gauteng?
Hello mate, great videos, could you please tell me if it is possible to buy a Mercedes-Benz w123 diesel Estate in good condition and ship it to United Kingdom and what would you think it would cost. Thanks
I bought a 2006 Camry for 60k. Drives like a dream. But I cannot get any spares for suspension etc even from the dealers. So dissapointed in Toyota SA.
The cars stated are brilliant, if I could I would def snap these up however please ensure your vehicles have basic safety features, south african drivers are not the best, larger cars are better for safety too
Finally found a channel with advice in the South African context 🎉
Thank you! Please enjoy.

If it ever comes up for sale I’ll offer it to you first. The Fox is a great little car, and financially anyway, would be the logical one to go for.

That 250 diesel looks really good
Yes a nice car

Sounds like a gem! There are certainly a lot of options out there, just need to think laterally and do a bit of hunting.

E39’s are excellent cars too and very good value these days. The 528i is the pick of that bunch for me.

SA prices are crazy, it's thanks to SA government apparently protecting local manufacturing.
Which is fair enough I guess. Cars are one of South Africa’s bigger exports these days.

Thank you, glad to hear!
Got the c180 w202 98 77k miles and it runs great!👍👌🤝🇬🇧🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
Very nice!

Thank you! Wagons are very scarce here as, unlike the sedans that were built here, only a handful of wagons and coupes were imported in.
Fit a barra turbo motor to that ford
Most people seem to not realise that if they pay so little for a car it's ok for uses more petrol. Do the sums
Hi which parts do you have for a 190e 1.8?
Best to send a list of what you're looking for to my Whatsapp line please
I bought a 2006 Camry for 60k. Drives like a dream. But I cannot get any spares for suspension etc even from the dealers. So dissapointed in Toyota SA.
Older shape Camry is much better
Hie, But on Bakkie segment why didn't you put a kb250 non Turbo 89-96 model box shape very good and reliable the one that last forever
Yes I agree, that would be a great addition to the list.
@@oldmercguy Did you do a similar video on Bakkies as well? Can't find it
What's your opinion on a E46 BMW?
I haven’t owned one but I had a 96 328i E36 manual for years and was an excellent car.
The BMW e46 320i being a 6 cylinder is a fantastic car. Even better than the BMW 320i e90 and f30 version in terms of reliability.
The cars stated are brilliant, if I could I would def snap these up however please ensure your vehicles have basic safety features, south african drivers are not the best, larger cars are better for safety too
Yes there’s always a compromise if one is buying to a price, safety is one of the biggest improvements in modern cars of course.
“It’s Japanese so every works” ✅✅✅😂😂
And it’s true 😂
The Ford and The Volvo do 40% ?
40%?
@oldmercguy mpg
I saw a fresh w124 on webuycars it goes for R47000
As I said in the video, a w124 is a good option too.
