I took a second, early morning, very physical job and it helps mitigate pleasure and eradicate my weakness. During the work I pray for people, i know , people receiving what we're shipping and loading, etc. There are typically coarse blue collar people working there sometimes cursing God, I make prayers of reparation. While working I talk to God, St. Joseph, etc, sing hymns to the Virgin usually once a night at least, it's a loud warehouse so nobody hears me singing. I lost a Saint Benedict medal there which fell off my scapular. A few days later i looked through the loading dock grate and there it was. I left it there to bring peace to the place. It's difficult physically demanding work but offered up, it's actually enjoyable.

My wife once read about the water fasting and after I read the details about that I told her I don't oppose it as long as she sticks to the plan. She was doing it from the "loosing the weight" point of view (no spiritual goal.) Then I had a thought that for the support I will join her. She didn't eat for 12 days. Just water with a bit of lemon. I didn't for 10 days offering it for my wife (note, I am not perfect and I suspect I did it for my own benefit too). She said she was fine and not hungry at all during this time. I, myself, were walking on the walls out of not hunger of the food but hunger of the taste. I could understand what the Israelites meant when they spoke about leaks and onions! The first thing we ate was a tomato with its skin removed, no salt or pepper. It was the most delicious thing I have ever ate in my life! I was ready to stay for the rest of my life eating only tomatoes!
Anyway, I know what hunger is (we did it an other time, for two weeks) and I know that without God's Grace I would not be able to do it. I know what gluttony is now very, very well.
Note: please don't do it without reading about it and consulting your doc. It's not only about not eating but also how you end that period. You may end up hurting yourself with ending fasting!
    Blessings!

God is allowing you into those circumstances so that you can learn how to develop fortitude.
I have some suggestions for you:
      1) Learn to recognise when you are about to lose control and quickly ask Jesus to take the thought captive and help you overcome it.
We destroy arguments and every proud obstacle to the knowledge of God, and *take every thought captive to obey Christ,* - 2 Corinthians 10:5
      2) Make the request for fortitude as an intention prior to starting your daily Rosary.

Our Lady said: sacrifise everithing for Him!
I have, or better, I nutrure this disposition, that I would hold nothig back from Him, that there is nothing I wouldnt part with, sacrifise, if He so chooses.
I hope he wont claimmy health or life of my children or husband, but I would give him all if he needed it for salvation of our souls or out of love for Him. It is the hardest and the most painful conviction I have.

“You have created us for yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in You!”
This beautiful truth, is taken from The Confessions of St Augustine, whose feast we celebrate today. It speaks to the restlessness of our generation - the restlessness of my heart… and it provides the solution.
Rest in God… 🙏Fr Grant Emmanuel

I agree. I just told a Catholic woman living in sin, who moved in with a young man and is taking birth control pills, that she will want me as her mediator in case she accidentally gets pregnant.
She first revealed she moved in with her boyfriend, and I told her, “You just offended God. But that’s okay because 98% of Catholics live together these days, and we are all offending God.” Then I said, “Well, you’re going to want me as your mediator in case you accidentally get pregnant and end up in divorce court. It gets pretty complicated if you’re not married.”
Then she mentioned she’s taking birth control pills. I said, “Why would you take something that could give you cancer later in life? You should get off it and remember that you’re going to further offend God if you have an abortion.” At this point, the boyfriend started looking at me funny.
I turned to him and said, “Don’t look so surprised. Relationships are complex, and it’s important to think about these things. Trust me, it’s better to address these issues now than to deal with a bigger mess later. Besides, wouldn’t it be nice to have God on your side?”
He paused, clearly taken aback by the directness, but I could see the wheels turning in his head. Sometimes, a little tough love and honesty are what people need to reconsider their choices.

Wow. That’s so strange, a person who lives in deliberate, habitual mortal sin wants you to pray for her when she inevitably makes the situation worse? Isn’t that like going into the confessional and starting out, “Fr, bless me for the sins I’m planning to commit.”
“I’m meeting my three mates at the pub. We’ll get drunk, pick up some hot babes and break the 6th and 9th commandments. When we drive from the pub to the sleazy motel, we’ll endanger our lives and those of others for DWI. If anyone we know sees me, I’ll be giving scandal. We’re gonna smoke some reefer, too, to chill out after the excitement. I’ll be sober enough to drive everyone home, but then I have to put grandma’s car in neutral and push it into the garage because I don’t have her permission to use it. Then, I’ll lie to my parents about where I’ve been when I get back home. I’ll call in sick to work, kind of a lie, right? I’ll waste the day in bed nursing my hangover. For these and any other sins I commit this evening and tomorrow, I’m heartily sorry and request of you advance absolution.” 😢
What is the priest going to say? 😮
Hopefully, nothing! He’ll come around and toss him bodily out of the confessional! Knock some sense into him!

The eternal consequences arent much talked about anymore.

Lay people were never knowlegeble about the faith. They were ig orant of all aspects of life, they could not even read. Today we are not being asked to know about every detail about our faith, but to study it, study the Saints, the Church Fathers, the commun law....
This happens because we cannot trust the priests, nor the bishops. These are sad and confusing times we live in. We should be able to trust that our priests are taking care of our salvation. May God help us! I try to do my part, I pray, sometimes fast, I educate myself, I pray for the Church and that means the prieats, but I can only do as much. I listen to Fr. Ripperger and I do learn a lot from him, but only God can help us in this. Read the Bible, trust in Him. We cannot study our way out of this mess. Only God can save us!
Be prudent, ask for wisdom and prudence. But most of all truat God.

People might not have been literate, but they knew right was right and wrong was wrong. They also knew that hell was real and it was easy to go there. And that the Sacraments were absolutely necessary not merely a mighty fine thing that was helpful. The Faith also wasn’t some conceptual, propositional thing over there to be merely grasped in the abstract but was an immersive, obvious reality that was integrated into every aspect of life. One thing that is seldom mentioned is how the devotional life of the faithful absolutely collapsed after the Council.

I can accept the suffering most of the time, and while I am resisting I usually simply tell God His will be done. That surrenders me much of the time. Still, I have some bad habits of swearing in the moment, I keep confessing, I keep apologizing and I am making headway especially since my responsibilities are gone. It was 40 years of suffering for having compromised and married a man who was abusive, didn't respect my religion enough to marry me in the church, and was manic depressive, schizophrenic, with multiple sclerosis and muscular dystrophy and in the end diabetic. I loved him but it was very difficult.

I always enjoy Father Ripperger's talks. Yet, sometimes he seems to lean towards God's justice rather than God's mercy. Yes, we may choose to not share our food or supplies with everyone who asks it of us if we do not have enough for ourselves if we deem this prudent. Yet this seems to have a flavor of appealing to God's justice, which is what I like to call "the minimum bar". If we trust in God's mercy and love, then we know God will never send people our way without also given us the means to care for them. Jesus multiplied the loaves. There have been saints who have miraculously appealed to God's generosity to multiply their goods so that they might share with others in their need.
So yes, we can follow the arm of justice or we can follow the arm of mercy. For myself, I would like to follow the arm of mercy.

You refer to St Thomas Aquinas a lot & his teachings. What book(s) do you recommend for studying the common laws & principles? I looked up his books & have NO idea which ones cover what exactly lol. I know his writings are provably very intelligent, but I pray that if God wants us to learn from him, He'll open OUR intellect & hearts to learn it!❤

Thank you Father Ripperger, you changed my life, when I started meditation everything changed.
There is a problem though.... I expect others to do as much as I do and i judge...it's really difficult for me to fast for example, and when I make it, I become angry with others who justify themselves and say they cannot make all those things, fasting, night prayers etc.
Inside I am struggling with my anger and jugment and against my thoughts such as "why they don't love You God?!?"
How do I get rid of this monster inside me?😓

Talk to your guardian angel and Our Lady of Sorrows. Ask them to humiliate you internally every day so that you don't grow in pride.
On of Fr. Ripperger's cases was a pious woman who was convinced by a demon that she's better than everyone else. Pride entered and she got possessed.
Do your best to stay humble. These penances are for our own mortification and sanctity FIRST. If they are making us proud, it's time to tweak things up a bit. Look for a virtue in the people you're tempted to judge, hard as that is.
Lastly, the Litany of Humility. Cheers!

If you're so bad at fasting, why would you think you succeeded by your own efforts rather than by God's grace? And if by God's grace, hadn't you better be grateful rather than judgemental or angry at others?

Question Father....natural law primary obligation to self and family, charity is never contrary to natural law....how does the Crucifixion and the Widow with 2 pennies fit in to your reasoning there? I am ASKING not challenging.

    • @Martin4Mary4Ever
      @Martin4Mary4Ever หลายเดือนก่อน

Not a priest here, but let me cast the first stone at the problem here.
The widow could be assumed to be a widow without children, she had the right to sacrifice her life for her neighbor, the Gospel, or even just a worthy cause.
What made her offering more meritorious was the object and the cost of suffering she joined to the work.
The greatest gift we have to give to God and the world is that of the martyrs, that of the mother with seven children in the Maccabees.

@@carolynkimberly4021let Alphonsus de Liguori be your guide. Uniformity to God’s Will is contemplation to keep on the night stand and in the heart. So many Saints have said, “Always do the hardest thing.” I think they mean surrender to the beauty and love of God. God turns our suffering and redemption in to jewels that the Angel want to sing about. There is a beautiful glory in mirroring the Father, loving him as Abba, and receiving His through the Person of Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Peace.

      @ThreeHailMarys777 หลายเดือนก่อน

I don’t know the specifics of your question but what I know is that Christ and the Holy Spirit are present in our very day. There is no reason to wait for any “end times.” All now’s, every present moment is His. I fail but I yearn to listen and join with His will, now, in the present.
I figure the Ancient One must hear billions upon billions of complaints a day, or fix this and fix that. I am content to praise him for His creation, face his love in my poverty, and though a bit scary, I ask Mary to help fix me, that I love better.
