I like to think Guilliman's rage here wasn't only at Mathieu but at everything the Imperium had become in his absence. Mathieu was just the face of it for him.

Every time in the books Guilliman gets angry I feel the urge to feel Ashamed. Because Guilliman is one of the most level-headed primarchs in my eyes. Like I feel like if you ask him advice for a problem he will give you advice and has that, energy that makes you want to listen when he speaks because of his uprbringing. He’s a natural leader. But his rage… is by far the most terrifying due to his calm nature. Know No Fear and Plague War are my favorite examples of why you never EVER make Guilliman angry

It's easy to forget how terrible Roboute's anger is when it is roused-- a fact Lorgar discovered on Calth. You did a good job capturing the anger of a man who has been keeping it bottled up for centuries.

I think Guilliman should be given more credit. For one, his reservations about psykers isn’t unwarranted or exaggerated. A alpha class, or alpha+ class psykers could doom a planet in an afternoon.
I think he privately knows full well, big E was there. But there is something important about sending a message to your subordinates about respect. The preacher lost all my respect when he ordered(hinted at) the sister to steal the girl out of custody. Even tho it ultimately turned out right, that’s treason. And exactly the excesses of zealotry the emperor warned of in “the last church”.
In the third book, Guilliman totally gambled that big E would show up and save his neck. He knew he was going to lose to mortarion. His plan overall made no sense. He steps out on the field and calls mortarion out. The was only 1 logical conclusion and that was Guilliman getting a dose of God Blight.
Guilliman had no guarantee big E would show. But he did it anyway. I’d say that’s a lot of faith on Guillimans part. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Guilliman again getting a taste of what the Emperor had to deal with wholesale with Lorgar and the Word Bearers. But in this case it was a battle that stood at a knife's edge with that girl psyker being either damnation or salvation. But simultaneously the fight to wrest humanity's need to pray and blame any sort of unknowing or unseeable being was probably always an impossible one. Deeds and Words aren't enough, and the Inquisition isn't all powerful either if they weren't also believers in the Emperor's divinity or at least knew from their manipulative places of power as agents of the Imperium that faith in Big E was good as a control tool.
And you honestly can't look at the literal Miracles, like Guilliman and El'Johnson's resurrections as anything more than the will of an actual godlike being. Who extends his power across vast oceans of stars as if he were sending a simple vox message. At this point it almost doesn't matter what the Emperor is. But I do understand Robuté's anger at this “priest militant” for allowing such a foolhardy risk. Yet.... He himself knows the Emperor works in mysterious ways. His orders are clear but his actions are never so. If he wasn't on the Golden Throne and instead a fully realized Warp entity rivaling all 4 major Chaos Powers by himself, there'd be nothing the Lord of Ultramar could do to contradict That kind of Faith.
And I Felt all of that in every word here. Now I really want there to be more audiobooks with this kind of delivery from the characters. Especially when they're arguing or being “talked to”.
Like the Tau being berated by the Ethereals if they step even a centimeter out of line because of their fear of them ending up like Commander Farsight and becoming a true-blue rebel of their own empire. With him taking in anyone who starts to wake up to the fact that similar to the Emperor, the Ethereals are and have likely always been lying to them as a way to maintain order. And if they weren't entirely lying, they were still more than likely hiding things That would probably help their people out a lot. Like not trusting the actual evil space elves. Lol

It is one hell of a scene - a genuinely decent and reasonable, rational (in so far as the grim darkness of the far future allows for rationality) man (well, transhuman superman, but still) besieged by blind superstitious fanaticism in all its bloody, brutal excess, and yet he knows that he needs the very fanatics that he despises if he is going to save humanity. No wonder Roboute Guilliman secretly dreams about a quiet life as a rural farmer away from the pressures of guiding the entire species and protecting it from not just the darkness that stalks humanity from without, but also from the unthinking ignorance that mars it from within.

Poor Guilliman. All his points are valid but he's as blind to the reasons the Emperor had for the Imperial Truth, as the Priest is to how the warp works.
Guilliman simply wasn't taught by the Emperor that the Imperial Truth was to starve chaos of worship. Just as he doesn't know his soul basically is of a minor warp god.

    • @Rift93
      @Rift93 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

Chaos doesn't need worship to be what they are. As long as there is war, trickery, decay, and excess, so too will the gods of the warp exist.

    1) The voice acting here is just phenomenal! I could almost believe you were two different people! Bravo!
    2) It's crazy how Mathieu and Guilliman are both right, but so far from understanding. The writing here is really good! Guilliman and the Imperial Truth doesn't understand faith, and its relationship with the Warp at all. The Imperial Cult doesn't understand the Warp, but they do understand faith in the Emperor.

  • @Masa6x

Could you make a video for what voice filter effects you use and how you apply them? Particularly for the robotic and cyborg type voices, but ethereal or ORK effect workflow could be useful too. Is it possible to get similar results in a discord call (for DnD's sake) or is it only possible in a proper recording and edit in post context

What chasm it must have wrought into Guillimans heart to see the Emperor's work perverted like this.
A dream He has fought, killed and bled for, shattered by the ignorance the master of mankind sought to banish from humanity for centuries.
What anguish it must be to know that even He, Roboute Guilliman, Primarch of the XIII, one of the mightiest beings that ever walked this galaxy is powerless to stop the darkness that has engulfed our kind once more and yet has to fight ever onward.
How would the Emperor weep If He could....

The I love this. That he saw The Emperor as not his father, but the man who raised him as his dad. Cause when the Emperor spoke to G-man, he heard the mix of words, just as Sanguinius did. My son/tool. My light/last hope. G-man has become on of my favorites in recent times, because he truly is human, and he values people. He hates what the imperium became, and that he can’t do anything about it lest the very imperium turn upon him.
