Imagine waking up thousands of years later and being surrounded by mini-Lorgars. Disgusting indeed
People always like to talk about what Primarch is the most tragic. I never thought Guilliman would be up there, and then I saw this quote from him:
"Why do I still live? What more do you want from me? I gave everything I had to you, to them. Look what they've made of our dream. This bloated, rotting carcass of an empire is not driven by reason or hope, but by fear, hate and ignorance. Better that we had all burned in the fires of Horus's ambition than lived to see this.”
God. The.... incalculable depths of despair, rage, and sadness he must feel.
"We failed, father. You failed your sons, and we, in our turn, failed you. And now, to compound our arrogance and vainglory, we have failed all of them, too. Did Horus not that say you sought godhood? He built a rebellion upon that claim. How he would gloat, to see the Imperium now."

A God-Emperor Fearing Man tries to convince an Atheist Son of the God-Emperor that something is his Father's Work. Fascinating.
It is interesting to listen too and quite an interesting concept to explore
And reading the book it *was* a miracle and if it did not happen guliman would be dead
I dont know. I still think the lable god is misused in 40k. It is used like we use the terms dark energy or dark matter. A stand in term for something we do not fully understand. God has a vary defined definition. Warp manifestations, and an artificial powered human psyker do not really fit... but then my atheist nature and logical mind make it hard to just except a god claim in general.
The thing is the Emperor is basically a god of mankind; sure he didn’t create humanity but he literally makes miracles happen across the Empire and has been gradually shaping them since his inception. I think the main difference is he isn’t their creator, but rather their caretaker.
The thing most people forget is that their god is also a man. Sure, one of a thousand lifetimes experience and with humanities entire potential within him, but still a man who is fail able, as wrathful as he is passionate, and relentlessly ambitious. who even in his twilight years clings to life to save his herd from the coming darkness. But still a man who will soon die.
To Gulliman, I imagine that is how he sees him. And that he would be disgusted with how humanity has fallen, yet will protect them to the last.
@@lordbiscuitthetossable5352 That even adds to the fact that different races warn and spit at humanity's original purpose was very disrupted, what we "forgot" was actually some creature after the War in Heaven that brainwashed the original humans and made them into puppets for its own desires. Ironically Russ and Guilliman respected one another, Roboute even called him one of the dauntless few and honored him among the statues with Kahn, Ferrus, Sanguinius, and Russ.
Hot take: guilliman had proper parents (King Konor and his wife) as opposed to every other primarch.. not only that, but Guilliman was raised in a society that valued progress and the human spirit over one that needed a super-human being to save it.
Because of such, guilliman Truly understands humanity. When the Emporer visited guilliamans worlds, he declared them as an example of what he wanted the Imperium to be, even allowing Guilliman to absorb the purged legions (Illegidly). Just goes to show you how far a good mother and father can go in the development of a human, demi-god or otherwise.
Rogal Dorn was another that had stable home growing up. That's why I'm hoping he comes back as he is the only other Primarch that had an empire before meeting the emperor.

This is a perfect example as to why Guilliman is not to be taken lightly. He has the potential to act very angry, I almost thought he was going to kill Mathiew but he didn't, he withheld his anger as killing Mathiew would just cause more problems than it's worth. This just proves why Guilliman is the best Primarch(not my favorite that goes to Magnus and Vulkan) and how, even in that much anger and lividness he still keeps a level head and doesn't let his emotions get the better of him. Guilliman probably is one of my favorite Primarch out there and this just reinforces my opinions about how great he is.
Damn straight, most folks talk mad smack about his sons, but Guilliman himself is absolutely amazing.
@Noob7Zilla I'd personally say the Lion should come back as he is a noble level headed warrior and can lead the war from outside the Imperium while Guilliman can fight the war from within.
@Noob7Zilla A book about Guilliman and Lion after he FINALLY WAKES THE FUCK UP would be a great book and like you said the rivalry dynamic being turned on its head into a buddy cop dynamic would be a great read.
@Noob7Zilla I collect and play Ultramarines as my first faction and I got to admit if it weren't for papa smurf being such a cool and interesting character I would've probably went with Dark Angels or the Imperial Fists and not my blue boys
It would've also made him susceptible to the will of khorne

@@speenta4879 Imagine the Lion during the great crusade, when he scolded Luther for dismissing his edicts. And then imagine he is here instead of Guilliman. Poor Priest would be given over to Asmodai indefinitly.
I love the fact that he acknowledges a mere human as his true father. That man and his mortal mother raised him well. Far better than a godlike being couldve done. I am almost sure emperor wouldve raised him as a weapon of war, not like a father raises his son
“The Emperor’s purpose was to lead us out of the darkness! You, Frater Matthew, and your kind ARE THE DARKNESS!”
No line better encapsulates the horrified contempt Roboute has for the current state of the Imperium. Everywhere he turns, he sees his father’s genius and brilliance perverted beyond sense and belief.
Also love how he refers to the Emperor as “the man who created me”. So much depth and sorrow in that line…
The Emperor is a complex and distant figure.
Worthy of admiration but not worthy of the intimate love that would normally be found between father and child.
The Emperor never wanted sons, he wanted generals, but I don’t think he really understood what he did when he created the primarchs.
The Emperor at his core is a man who had lived far too long and was consumed by his own ambitions. He had reigned for so long he blinded himself to the reality of what he was doing to his sons. Because he believed that surely he knew everything and accounted for everything.
Then the Horus Heresy happened. Not because of any apparent foolishness or any obvious error, but because of his Hubris that spurned his sons to turn on him.
The Loyalists save for maybe Dorn did not stay Loyal for the Emperor, they did it for the Imperium.
This was the Emperor’s punishment be it by actual divine providence or not. That what he started, shall only be completed by his sons in his stead, and all he can do is watch from the Golden Throne as his children reap the fruits of the seeds he had sown.
Revered but unloved.
I love how guilliman both hate the emperor and admire his goals at the same time.
you mean the contempt he originally had? Because the story has progress some since this reading and now even Guilliman is wondering if the Emperor really is a god
Ironically, Guillaman sounded like Emperor TTS albeit in a more serious tone.
Like him being disappointed and horrified at Imperium turning to a zealous and corrupt regime than the utopia that his father dreamed of.
Bonus point when Custodes decided to step out of the palace to do something about it.
I'm honestly sad we won't get to see a potential revival of Guilliman in TTS. It would be hilarious to see Big E preparing to give Guilliman a lecture, only for Guilliman to agree with him entirely. That they had more in common than Big E thought.
But were the Custodes naked when they came outside? And were they heralded by the echoes of "AYAYAAAYYY"?
@@aRandomFox00 its only the companions that are naked. im pretty sure the rest of the bannanians have clothes. forgive me if im wrong, but the companions are 1000 strong. if 1000 custodes isn't enough to take down kara-crazy-pants-off then i dont know what is.

The Imperium being zealous is why it's still around for Guilliman to complain about, funny enough.

spending 10,000 years in absolute eternal torture will cause you to lose almost all humanity. Hopefully he returns soon.
Guilliman is going through a lot. His father basically said he was a tool and has ascended into some unknowable being, even if we later get confirmation that he does still care on some level. He’s woken up to a reality where the imperium has become the opposite of what he fought and bled for. If anything this rant towards the priest is kind of his human side lashing out. To have people say they hear things from his father who may or may not be a god where as he gets the cold shoulder when he goes to see him face to face is unbearable.
Nah it makes sense. Hes a practical man. The emperor created him, but he did not raise him, he did not love him, he did not even try to be fatherly, gullimans father in his homeworld is the only one thats qualified for the title.
But in a way heartwarming that he still sees Konor Guilliman, the man who raised him, as his father

Lord Guilliman is like my father and Khan, and myself, in that we recall what the Imperium was supposed to be. Where my Khan and I differ is that we are not statesmen. Lord Guilliman is well-versed in politics and statescraft. He can change this rotting carcass of an Imperium for the better.
Lord Guilliman remembers the vision, but perhaps most importantly, he knows how to realize it.
But factor in one the emperor own plan was flawed, second the situation has changed the emperor does demonstrate miracles though if that makes him a god
@@Yingyanglord1 The plan may have been flawed, but the plan isn't what survived so long. It's the vision of Humanity ascendant.
The plan changes, the goal remains.
@@ladywaffle2210 that is a Nobel goal but let us hope guliman remembers the lessons he learned at end of the series, Even if the emperor is not a god he has become a powerful warp entity
Now Guilliman remember, y-your blood pressure!
Guilliman: *TREASOOON!!*
Phenomenal. This is how I picture the Lord Of the Imperium sounding now.
THIS IS WHY I LOVE ULTRAS. HIM AND TITUS ARE THE ONLY SANE PEOPLE LEFT
Seeing Guilliman loose his shit with somebody is so satisfying yet scary...
I HATE 30k Guilliman.
I LOVE 40k Guilliman.
Punished Guiliman has been a great ark
Nothing, not even demon primarchs are scarier than an angry Guilliman.
Even Konrad would cower in fear at angry Guilliman.
@@sonofjack6286 Konrad was the most scared Primarch of them all. He was scared of the dark of nastramo as a boy, he was scared of his visions being true, he was scared when Vulkan had him at his mercy during the heresy, and most of all he was scared of his visions being false. He died with a pathetic whimper so that he could have his previous atrocities justified. There are many courageous Primarchs, Konrad Curze is not such a Primarch.
Guilliman's trip of being 500% done with all this is something I'm all here for.
Guilliman is the embodiment of “I am surrounded by idiots.”
After the Dark Imperium books, Indomitus Crusade, Baal, and Rise of Primarch Guilliman is now in my top 3 Favorites. Holy Fuck he is epic! I’m a Space Wolves player mind you.
My myself top Wolfdaddy than papa Smurf then Rogan dorn
@@Hammadz-li Yeah my Top 5 are Russ, Dorn, Guilliman, Vulkan, Then Khan.
@@UnRu1eD Khan is my 4th 5th is hard but maybe lion
@@Hammadz-li Now Traitors? Gotta be my Boy Angron.
It would be truly fascinating to hear guilliams reaction to the legion of the damed
This is what i have been waiting for since he came back. I am also shocked that the priest interrupted Guilliman
At first I thought this was really good. And then I read the description and realized YOU'RE the one speaking. Man, you've got some really good and promising chops for narration, that was WELL done.
Damn this was great to listen too. And after listening to the plague war series in full. That priest goes places and it is a fun ride lol.
Seriously, do more stuff like this if you can. This was great.
This was awesome, but part of me wishes you’d included the part where the Tribune of the Custodians taunts the priest afterwards. I love that part.
Such a good display of character due to girlyman only getting TRULY pissed when someone lies to him. Dude demands the respect and deserves it
Corax: OK, OK, I know I’m pissed at Lorgar but damn. Remind me never to get on his bad side.
I like how he's reading the original Lectitio Divinitatus now. Back to the old Theoretical-Practical Socratic method he's so fond of.
You know that priest shit has been building up since he woke up.
More excerpts please! You did a great job narrating.
Based guilleman, basically said everything I’ve thought about the 40k imperium
Guilliman said calmly
- "By the throne man "
Same energy as "You high bruh??"
From 4:38 to to 4:47 you can hear the his temper really cutting in, granted he is very angry the whole time during those but that let really just cuts real deep
"but my lord I ordered nothing"
If I remember correctly in the lore it takes almost immeasurable will from mortals to even speak to and withstand the presence of a primarch to CONSIDER interrupting one must've been an interesting thought process
Guilliman has becoms one of my favourite characters since his ressurection
Whenever I picture guilliman, this is the video i think of. I dont know how, but you have defined an entire primarch for me. Good fuckin job
i like the mentions of the anger being like a physical heat and Guilliman appearing taller, as all primarchs are at least latently psychic the heat would be actual heat and he would probably be subconsciously psychically projecting his image to be larger.
There’s also the time during the Horus heresy when guilliman got so pissed at the word bearers that guilliman decided that breathing is for losers and started punching the heads off word bearers in space
Plus that same time where Kor Phaeron tried to use an Anathme to corrupt Guilliman but he was literally too angry to fall pray to the influence, and showed Kor Phaeron his own heart for the favour.
Unfathomably angry Guilliman might genuinely be one of the most terrifying things in the 40K universe, for the sole reason that you already know what the man is capable of but mostly when he is cool, calm, and collected. When someone with such an unsurpassable tactical mind, and this much unparalleled might at their beck and call wants you absolutely gone, you really don't want to be in the same general reality as them.
After the reveal during the failed coup that he basically had the entire plot under his control before it was even written, I feel like this man might very well be one of the most terrifying monsters around, just because you have no clue if what you're doing is part of the plan, or worse, that the plan has no need for you, and that you are a waste to be disposed of without a thought - regardless of rank or notoriety.
THIS IS THE BOBBY G I LOVE!!!
The sheer power you put into his voice makes these moments thousands of times better!
Even when angry Guilliman is holding back the totality of his power.
That makes him on one side perfect at control, on the other side, less violent.
Certain primarches would have crushed the man.
Those lines were delivered truthfully and I was enthralled by every line good job
I do believe the Emperor saw his sons as sons but also very useful tools he created, and he created to be tools first and sons second, I am in the minority I know but I believed he loved them to an extent but to an EXTENT, it’s obvious he didn’t have time to love his sons, he had worlds to conquer, an empire to build. He didn’t have that luxury, and he indeed fucked up in multiple instances. Such as lying to them, not listening to magnus, not saving Angron’s friends, perhaps not explaining things to Lorgar, not comforting Curze, etc.
Which is why I love big e so much. Despite his godlike powers he is still human. An apex of our species if we just followed the light
Big E was absolutely furious with what had happened to Angron and seriously distraught with what he had become. And because of this he seriously messed up with how he handled Angron.Just think about this the Emperor almost killed himself trying to remove the butchers nails out of Angrons Brain thats how distraught he was in what they had done to his son and how desperate he was to save him.
Awesome job man! You really got the emotion and voices of each characters perfectly
After this, nobody can ever call him Girlyman ever again.
"But the primarch was angry and it was a primordial rage born in the hearts of tortured planets and fast burnings stars."
By the emporer thats a whole new scale!
Even Rowboat uses his warp soul
this is awesome! i never knew everyone's favorite papa smurf could actually be so cool
That’s what I needed from 40k. Someone capable of speaking truth as it is obvious to us, who sees the scope. I honestly think the best thing about Gulliman is that he isn’t perfect. He has many of the faults evident in the Emperor. And many of the strengths. But he is not some omnipotent, or pretender to omnipotence like the Emperor seemed to be. Merely a supernaturally capable, biologically immortal, apex Man. Relatable because in the realm of imagining we are likewise gifted power of insight no one inside that world can have. But we are men. Relatable writing, to express concepts and themes. Grim Dark ones. But in those places Victory, and Virtue are polished to vivid clarity. And tarnished and scarred with the toughest of tests we can imagine.
This moment legit made me actually scared, and I will forever respect Guilliman all the more for that.
Wait that’s you reading???? Holy shit I thought that was the legit audiobook. Fan fucking tastic. This is an amazing performance
This is amazing.
Awesome job with the reading!
The Emperor from in the warp That's My Boy
This was one of the best scenes in that trilogy and you knocked it out of the park! Great work!
This telling off was a long time coming, was a satisfying read
