I loved how on the last turn he lowered his center of gravity so he could take the turn tighter to get around his opponent. Fantastic confidence 😁
what did he do with his hand?
@@MiluLikante-sx5rr Errr, eh?
@@ohforgodsake8486 ??
@@MiluLikante-sx5rr right before the last corner? I think he activated DRS to overtake
@@tom_r1 is this something similar to DRS in Formula 1? :D
He has an unfair advantage due to the increase in gravity affecting his huge balls
😂
😂
XD
W
😂
He's not only following the optimal line at full speed, he's also 'hugging' the steep mountain sides as a shield against wind resistance
I don't see any ladders, why would people put a ladder on a mountain any way
@@itskittyme excuse my English, took a false cognate there. Fixed it 😂
@@creolespanish34 oh i thought my english was bad and ladder was just another word i never heard of xD
@@itskittyme I actually stopped at the word, trying to remember if it also meant 'mountain side', I knew the other meaning though. 'Ladera' means 'mountain side' in Spanish
Step mountain
Definitely terrifying. As someone who races, I would not want to be forced to go downhill anywhere near as fast as this.
He is an amazing descender. Great to watch people try to stay with him and then shake their heads as they slowly back off.
He is an amazing mtb rider too ! On a XCC he came from last 37th place to win in 19minutes !
@@Kenny-yl9pc I don't know, I want to watch it too, that was the XCC of Crans Montana 2024, maybe you can find it ?
What a Legend, his Olympic MTB race today was magnificent.
You just wanna watch this over and over again. Me with my riding style, I would be clamping on the brakes all the way down this slope😂
Because you're not on the Tour and that's why you aren't a pro biker
@@mattthom9080 you also can't compare the material they use to sunny day drivers with decent bikes.
Годный комент , в самой начале горки уже б притормозил , вскинув левую руку ища горизонт
i would love to go down this. My neighborhood back home has a 2 hills that are far steeper(sadly shorter of course). Shit is so much fun
Mesmerizing & terrifying at the same time
Id get distracted by the scenery and crash lmao
I used to descend like this in my youth. As you age your balls shrink significantly lol
You said it bro'!
It’s not just that. You think of consequences, whereas when young, you tend not to think of them.
I don't know about that.
Nah this is just how you imagined you looked
Both - I've descended at 47 mph once w/ no turns. I was hyper focused to be sure not to crash.
en 20 on a bike seems fast at first
Fastest I’ve clocked was 40 mph, descending the Marin Headlands.
You've got to love the tour de France. Such an incredible race.
시속 최소 70km정도😮될거같은데 ㅡ ᆢ
Any race w/ pros is amazing! Tour is overrated.
Absolutely, the Tour de France is something else, nothing compares to it
@@thomascatty379 Giro d'Italia is by far more difficult and challenging, but for some reason less prestigious
sono italiano anche io, e il Giro non è più difficile affatto, e certamente non «by far», il Tour è più prestigioso perché è il primo e il Giro è stato fondato dopo per riprodurre il suo successo, come La Vuelta
This guys have balls bigger than those Mountains.
And they are absolutely Insane.
That cut around that 200° switchback was incredible
Mesmerising and terrifying.
Crazy stuff !
My son was a nationally ranked Junior road racer a while back.
It unnerved me to see or hear his stories of the crazy speeds they'd hit.
Imagine a tight knit pack of riders inches apart tearing down a steep decline with an exactly equal ascent opposite, probably 8-10% grade, so that they want to carry their momentum UP as far as possible - they're going 52 mph about 6" apart, and at the bottom between the descent & ascent, a sign says "Deer Crossing" !
There were like 50 cyclists in that pack - heaven forbid a Deer decides to appear OR just one rider mishandles his bike & dozens will be injured !
Absolute lack of fear is a requirement for achievement at these levels - no exceptions.
Me, I'm a chillin Recreational Rider out for fun & fitness not
D A N G E R -
Mad respect to all these Pros !
That'll be "Tom Pidcock, DOUBLE OLYMPIC CHAMPION"?
😉
Wow beautiful country/landscape
Stelvio pass Italy 😊
Tom should do MotoGP 😂
totally different
Whenever I get above 35kph on a bicycle it feels scary. Taking corners at speed is something else with skinny tyres, hardly any protection..but it's so much fun to feel like a motogp rider on a bicycle. Do check tyre pressure though, soft tyre pressure don't like chicanes
Continental Contact Urban is said to be rated at 50km/h only despite being produced in multiple sizes for some reason.
And he's prob going >80kph..
That's exactly why I'd never use this style of bicycle for a race. Give me a real set of tires.
Secret is move your body, most people are stiff as a board and expect to just lean over. Use eye coordination, balance, legs and torso to keep leveled in turns/descents like these
Okay coach
Balls of steel 💪🏻
Imagine this decent going at 50m/h = 80km/h. I'm a motorcycle rider and can assure you that these speeds are not easy. You really need to carefully chose your line into each corner or otherwise you might not make the exit and run off the road. You also need to take into account how much grip the road will give you. Ride over a patch of gravel and you are done!
It's ridiculous you risk your life over a grain of sand or small water, oil spill. Just a slug can kill you.
Things are fun until turning the steering wheel is ineffective.
What's terrifying is how close the camera bike gets at times. (It's hard to be certain quite how close, because it may be a telephoto lens, but feels too close.)
First 5 seconds, and I started having sweaty palms.
Anytime the guys are descending is both exciting and terrifying. You can't look away!
Honestly, Pidcock is the only one who doesn't terrify me. He cuts a perfect line every time. Everyone else seems to take risks with white lines, grass verges, protruding rocks... Pidcock seems to see and account for all of it. At that speed!
Watching his segment on SAFA's Descent Disciples nearly gave me a heart attack! This man is ruthless on descents!!!
It's hella scary to watch (also freakingly amazing) but if I remember right it was worth it. I mean, he wons this race thanks to this stunning come back. If I remember right. 😂
It's his skills honed in MTBing that let him descend like this. He's just today taken gold on the MTB at the olympics ... even after puncturing. He's a machine !
"In the first 3 fkn kilometers of this decent"....thats what it sounds like he said
He know how to attack because he is skilled and fearless.
there are no fearless people
This is when I tap X & B as fast as I fucking can…….😂😂😂
Beautiful location ❤
That last left-hander, The Arkea (?) ride must have been so confused when Pidcock suddenly emerged on his right :D
Brave to go round the outside of an unknown rider intention but safer than up the inside as it provides the best observation.
Just out of curiosity, I checked who that 156 rider was, it was Matis Louvel, and it was in 2022 !
you can see the speed wobbles on his bike. dude's balls are definitely hanging lower than the rest of ours.
Tremendous talent
You can tell they going super fast when the bike is wobbling 😢 must be over 50mph
The bikes don't wobble from the speed, but hesitancy in the apex.
@@shadowsun33 what's that hesitancy?
@@ashenzensation4520 When you're cutting into a corner w/ the speed the seems greater than safe, so you're not following the ideal apex and you keep leaning and correcting the line as you go. It happens when you're not sure of yourself, conditions and most likely are not familiar with the descent. Did you watch Jonas descending w/ Tadej in stage 2? Yeah, compare their apexes. Tadej's almost perfect apex while Jonas' super choppy one. You can tell he lost confidence due to his crash in Itzulia. He keeps leaning in, correcting the line and braking excessively. So much so that Tadej almost hits him a couple times and has to brake hard while behind him. These are details that most overlook, but they speak volumes. If you ride enduro and road you get to be so much better on the road. Roads are very easy compare to the apex over steep and super bumpy terrain in enduro riding.
@@shadowsun33 bikes do wobble from speed. go fast on anything and it will start to wobble.
@@cliveramsbotty6077 Yes they do, the downtube can wobble (our Cr-Mo frames in the 90s did) but you won't see that from watching them descend on TV. Plus, these carbon bikes nowadays are incredibly stiff compare to our bikes from the 90s.
I believe that it is a combination of both😂, but he surely knows how to manage it all
That's what made him incredible biker,,he rode both mtb and rb,,
You can tell he's a mountain biker. He knows for the best grip, you lean the bike, not your body.
Good observation. Like being on downhill skis and keeping the center of the body stable to the line downhill
bro isn't cycling, He is racing!
Down Hill ??? I ain't peddling $#!T.. I'm coasting the whole way !😂
This is art...
Bravest of the brave ❤
Pure bike control. This guy would be pretty fast on a motorcycle at a racing track.
The guy filming it must also have some great motorbike skills.
I agree. I always marvel at how the motorcycle drivers handle their bikes. Particularly when they usually have a photographer or reporter on the back.
Молодец, гонщик! Не смог опередить на прямой и подъёмах- достал на спуске! Абсолютно верная техника прохождения поворотов- как в F-1- позволила обогнать соперника!👏🔥👍
I was never able to throw caution to the wind.
When I watched Zakaryne in a discent I had to turn-off the TV...now I can joy and have fun!!
Nice work!
That’s class
เก่งมากครับ❤❤❤😍
2525 like the bus in Speed
“On your right.”
I had a pretty bad accident one time on a descent due to a mechanical failure... and since I dont compete professionally, I have no problem slowing my ass down now. I do it for fun... not for trips to the hospital
It is wonderful art and skills on display!
Win on stage 4 incoming
Reminds me of that race with the motorbike girl in Golden Boy anime
Incredible 🔥
Master class 💪🏻
Let us see him do that down the Healy Pass 😅
That’s what up 💪🏿
Watch down hill long boarding and come back to this 😂
35 seconds... 🤯
Ridiculous speed!
There's quite a steep hill near where I live. When I used to cycle (just for transport, not sport), I never went anywhere near full speed down that hill and it still felt hairy!
The speed these guys are going looks exhilarating, but scary!
Thank God for dry roads and good equipment
He knows better the aerodynamic-see how he tilts his head
Mesmerizing
I've gone down hills "pedaled out ",with pro.gears. Really fast. Whew!
The banking is epic
mesmerising
Practice make perfect 😊
Insane
He must be on HED rims❗️🔥🔥
Knowing aerodynamics. Not knowing fear.
Was he wiping dust off his front tire as he went? Genius if so
Imagine that but 10times the speed ! Oh yeah motorbikes
Deadly. Don’t mess up.
He not even using the entire road width. he has lots of extra room to make it even faster decent.
He reminds me of Thor Hushovd back in the days....
Legend
❤good job tom❤
Захоплююче!
Overtaking around the outside 😊👍
What a pass 😳
Beautiful
Daaaaaaang!
Я один Inter ждал из-за поворота?😂 и велосипедиста , в форе звезды..
Badass!!
Buster Gonad. 🎯😂🇬🇧
❤❤❤❤
Now go and watch a full onboard lap of the Island of Man TT.
I can't believe any professional cyclist is that much slower
It is a fair challenge to do this on a motorcycle - especially with using minimal brakes - but you have more choice of lines and changing them than you have on a road bicycle with racing tyres. I have only been game to go near these speeds on a MTB and only because I was familiar with the bike. You need the experience to pick out the best lines ahead of the curve.
Me on the way to work
Empressive.....
