This goal by Roberto Carlos is more then just a curve penalty goal, this is the hardest precision long distance goal ever, it’s also very accurate. This to me is the goal of the century.

The distance from where he came....
Amazing how someone is able to judge the distance exactly right to end up in such a way to deliver a powerful kick and have the ball travel exactly where it should go.
I mean: I have tried it myself obviously, as we all did.
Placing the ball somewhere on the field. Backing up to create a lot of distance. And GO!
And somehow i always end up with the wrong foot at the ball.....
I am a right foot kinda guy, and i always end up with the left foot being the one that should kick the ball.
Or, i am able to use my right foot, but i am either just a bit too far away or i am too close to the ball to deliver a really good kick....
That goal, seeing how the player approached the ball from great distance and delivering the exact amount of power and control/angle/input, it is just amazing.
if a pro player can explain how to judge such a distance the right way..... how to know with which foot to start the approach.... etc etc..... it would be much appreciated.
Unable to figure it out. I tried putting the ball down on a spot, and backing up with controlled steps. Counting them. And i still end up in a wrong position when i go for the kick.
Surely there is some way of knowing how to approach this problem, right>?
@@bertjesklotepino I'm sure Roberto would have at least something useful to say, but you two are overanalyzing it. He tried this in game probably hundred times, it went in like this only once, and he tried it in practice probably 10 or hundred thousand times and it goes in like this once in a lifetime. Maybe If he was judging distance better, counting steps like some players, maybe he would have scored more goals from free kicks than he did, who knows.
But on this one, for sure everything turned out to be perfect :)

I'll tell you right now.... it is mainly because of the run up before he kicked it as thats what truly makes the shot count and was beyond perfect and i've been playing football since i was 9 amateur hasnt yet turned pro.

The margin of error when shooting from a long distance is very high. I'm sure these players failed more often than they succeeded in scoring those goals.
That's because football is about about stats now, you're statistically more likely to score inside the box than the half way line 🙄

As a goalie, this is totally a nightmare but a goal I wouldn't regret failing to save. It has the right amount of strength, angle and curve to make it looks straight at first and then curve near the end. Truly magical

Great highlights! I really liked that your first view of each one you showed the entire play without lots of stopping or camera switching. Then you showed it again with pauses or angles to highlight a particular aspect. So many soccer videos skip that first step, but as a viewer you can't understand the details until after you have the big picture. Thanks!
These goals left me awestruck. I played soccer in high school; wasn't very good but I know the game. Some of these shots left me speechless.
It's said that the hardest thing to do in MLB is to hit the ball exactly where you want it to go. I would say this is on the same level. Kicking a curve ball with precise intent from 40+ yards away and scoring a goal is every bit as difficult.

Roberto Carlos should be on here a couple of times. He scored one in Italy during the run of play from the goal line, right side of the goal (his left), again using the outside of his left foot.
The physics behind all of these are frankly astonishing. You don’t have dudes down at your pub league side pulling off stuff like this.
