Fell on bars, outta bounds on floor, and still won!
Yes, she is amazing.

With more than a one point lead.
Eternatty Ragan was the only top athlete from Olympic trials and we all know that ankle issue. So everyone else is pretty much a newbie not a veteran. I just so wanted to see the Rio alternates and Maggie N. fighting to get to 2020.

I hate seeing her look so disappointed in herself. But she admittedly said she was a nervous wreck. This is one hell of a comeback. She didn't come back building up to her previous skill level, like 99.99% of gymnasts making a comeback do, she came back surpassing it and THAT is not only amazing but unheard of!!!! So so proud of her
Aly sort of did that as well tho. However Simone came back with way more upgrades than aly, specially on this event.
Svetlana Khorkina was known for that too. Went to the Olympics with a floor routine with no saltos to the next year worlds with a full in double back. Also had a yurchenko 1 and a half twisting vault. Her beam routine consistently changed depending on a multitude of factors including her own personal feelings. Its not unheard of that a fantastic athlete comes back with more to offer. Simone is obviously in that extra exclusive club.
It has to be so hard coming back with all that pressure. I am not worried one bit. You got this, Simone!

It is truly amazing! Her level of difficulty, will always allow her some room for error, but still win by a point!
Because she was overscored. With these routines she wouldn’t have made top3 at worlds.
I know she's pissed at herself, but honestly - if you're gonna splat, Classics is the place to do it. Remember 2013 Classics? Splat Central for Simone, and yet she was a world champion twice over six months later. She'll be fine.
her difficulty and execution is so advance she went out of bounds on floor and fell on bars...and still won. now that’s a world champion. she want phased for a sec even after those hiccups.
I think everyone has to take into account the pressure these young ladies are under when they decide to make a come back. Considering the average gymnast who makes an Olympic team will only go to one olympics generally at 16 yrs old it must be hard and the pressure is prolly a lot too. Also you have to think. She isn’t 16 anymore. The world isn’t all sunshine and rainbows like it was. She’s an adult, a young woman with the world watching. She has to have her game face on because she’s a professional athlete and her livelihood depends on performing well. Gymnastics is still her first love, but now it’s her business. I think when people see Gabby and Simone not smiling they think they have no spark left. But honestly, giving up your college eligibility to become a professional athlete is a big risk and having to perform to sustain yourself is serious business. So cut these girls some slack. They didn’t lose their “cute” they just grew up. They aren’t children anymore. I mean no one tells male gymnast they need to smile more when it’s a competition so why tell them?

Despite the fall, I’m so proud of her and can tell she’s improved so much on this and the other events! I’m so happy to see her back and thriving
It still is absolutely amazing to me that she can win even with the fall.
Bars is probably the only event where her competition can make some ground on her lead, but still will , most likely, be a run away for Biles. They should test her DNA. I want to know if she's really from this planet. She's a super human.

she's got like the strongest arms and ab muscles. like yes, she fell, but honestly, she is so close to the bar (she always kinda is) on that connection to the straddle tkatchev, but she still is able to grab the bar and connect it to the full turn. like really? yasss queen. most gymnasts (male and female) would have too much force and downward momentum that they wouldn't be able to grab onto that bar, let alone grab on and stay on, let alone grab on and stay on and still do another connection to a full turn at the top of the bar. she fell, yes. but she fell much later in the routine than any other gymnast would doing those elements and being that close to the bar on a release. not to mention, she literally just returned to the international stage. as nastia would say: "give this girl a crown!"

you can see all the work she put into bars getting back in to things. the air she gets and that dismount are proof of that. i can imagine with that energy put into bars and hiccuping is dissapointed but i have so much faith that she's bounced back from that and is going hard in practice

She doesn’t seem to smile as much😦 I really miss that big smile during the floor routine and after every event.
Hannah Pettyjohn it’s her comeback she was probably super nervous! I feel like she’ll get the smile back once she’s more comfortable competing again
I bet down the line at nationals and worlds (assuming she stays healthy) we'll see trademark Simone smiles. This is her first competition since the Olympics, she's likely dealing with a lot of nerves.
I know on floor she is still undecided whether the routine fits a smile here and there or not. But I think she may have been just disappointed in the mistakes she had throughout the competition. She still won but it may also just the fact that she holds herself to a high standard as well

Hannah Pettyjohn She’s just mad with herself for making mistakes. Even in 2016, when she had a pretty bad (for her standards) beam routine, she was upset and didn’t smile after it. Same for when she fell on floor in 2015. It’s normal. Just give her some time to get back in the groove of things and don’t write her off for not looking like she enjoys it just yet.
Even if she falls she gets large applause 👏

If you notice the skills she is getting deductions for are all way above what others are doing. She is working towards her own goals not working to win the competition.

Well, she always said bars isn't her best OR her favorite.. In fact she hates it. I wasn't expecting much from her on this event, but her other ones easily make up for it.

Take a few tenths out and save the 8 tenths in deductions. She's usually so clean. This was not.
She was lucky, in Internationals competitions she will never have the credit for the Toe-On 1/1 and the 0.5 CR for the handstand with a full turn.
