A few tips for yourself and any other new TW players that could use them.
    1. Always right click and drag to form a line when positioning your units. That way, you can form the line as wide or as narrow as you need, and can form it in the direction you need.
    2. Always keep your ranged units behind your melee lines. You never want them in melee unless shit has hit the fan. The icon at the top of the unit card will tell you if it is melee, ranged, cavalry or artillery.
    3. Hold Ctrl and 1,2,3 etc and learn to use ctrl groups. It gives you quick control of your units and allows you to react to things much faster.
    4. Its almost always better to stretch your army wider than your opponent if possible and encircle him. Hitting him in the rear or flank will give leadership penalties and cause his weaker units to rout much faster, enabling you to bring increasing numbers to bear on his tougher units.
    5. If both sides lines have clashed, use your archers to focus down their archers quickly, instead of firing into the melee and causing casualties among your own men.
    6. Your melee units are mostly "fire and forget". Throw them into melee, and forget about them. Use that opportunity to micromanage your lords, ranged and especially cavalry.
Good luck with your campaign. This was fun to see a totally new players first time with tw. Looking forward to future videos. :)

Thank you so much for the information! Man, everyone has been so friendly and helpful!
You're not the only one to note that the melee units should be mostly shoved into combat and forgotten, so I'll definitely keep that in mind moving forward! I wasn't sure if friendly fire was a thing, but now that I know it is, I'll make sure my ranged units aren't killing my own soldiers!!

yes, once an army is set up the way you want it to just select them all then hold alt and hold left mouse button to move them wherever you want. also very helpful is once you are in alt drag mode to move an army but want them to rotate without breaking formation simply hold ctrl and use your mouse movement to rotate them. holding space bar will always show you the positions where you've send your troops. these are the most useful tips. also if you've given an order by accident you can select that unit and click the hand icon (stop). don't know the shortcut off the top of my head

Actually most of that DLCs are for game 1 and 2 and were released prior WH3, but they are also DLC for WH3 at the same time, yes it is strange. And if you own WH3 and own WH1 and/or WH2, they both will work as big LL DLCs for WH3 adding most of its content to WH3 (except narrative campaigns).

As a long time total war player (recently got into warhammer myself) i really liked the prolouge of this game. One tip i will pass on, not sure if anyone else said this yet. If you get your melee troops in a group and lock that group, when you send them into a charge or attack they will attack the units in front instead of having to specifically select and give attack orders. Take the game slow, learn, die, win. Its all you can do and then the war crimes will follow 😂 Have fun!

oh yeah a bit confusing but like, total war itself is a franchise of game
total war: warhammer is just a "total war" game with the theme of "warhammer" by gamesworkshop specifically warhammer fantasy aka the old world, which is not the space 40k dudes.
warhammer fantasy is pretty much a parody of real life, the empire being holy german empire, the dwarves being some sort of mix between scottish-irish-scandinavia, norsca being norse vikings, cathay being china, tomb kings being ancient egypt, dark elves being north america,....
if you like the classic, history ones then they've made quite a lot of historical games like medieval (europe-north america during medieval times i think), shogun (edo period i think), three kingdoms, rome, troy, pharaoh, genghis khan, napoleon,...
warhammer 3 has the largest map by-far in tbh, pretty much all total war games. there're a lot of races (each races having 1-4 factions) and quite overwhelming to know what they do and how to counter them but if you know the basics then you'll do well in battle (use the wiki, it's really useful)
immortal empire is the largest campaign that combines both 1 and 2 and 3's realms of chaos mini-campaign storyline thing

If you still like the game - and want someone to play against (landbattles PvP), let me know. I am also quite new to this game and the magic part is what I am struggling with - I have more than enough trying to control all the units and figure out what is happening on the battlefield, to have time to look and cast spells. I have tried some PvP landbattles mostly against a friend and I lost 99% of those, so I need someone equally new to this game to practice with - loosing in the first 5 minutes of the game every time is not very motivating.

      @fatbap 19 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

@@xNachtmahRx By thinner lines, he means right clicking and dragging to form your unit into a defensive line. When you do that, you almost always want to pull them as wide as they can go to help make magic spells hit as few targets as possible within the unit. You almost never want your unit formed into a blob as they can easily be wiped out then by a single well placed magic spell.
Always keep your ranged units behind your melee lines. If that means you have pulled your army out much wider than your opponent, use that to encircle his entire force and attack them from all sides. Its not a waste for your lines to be wider than his if you can encircle him.

Warhammer is fun. But if you want a more ''realistic' RTS with better balance you should try one of the historical ones. Warhammer is just dumb fun but balance is out of the window with it ;)

Good to know! I've been eyeing some of the other titles, for sure! I'm looking at Pharaoh, but I've been seeing not great reviews of it.

@@ChipHardbody If you are looking for more realistic warfare gameplay you should check out Napoleon Total War or Total War: Shogun 2 and its standalone DLC Total War: Shogun 2: Fall of the Samurai.
