- Lions. Elephants. No registered rona cases since May. These are some of the things the beautiful country of Tanzania is known for. It was time for me to dust off my Swahili and head back to Africa and start a new journey. First stop: Dar es Salaam, the megacity of East Africa.

@@ChristopherHaslettPhotography Sure, I'll spoil it right now: they updated the system within a few days and I got the SIM card without too much issue at the same store. If you're arriving for the first time you should have zero problems, this only seems to be an issue for people returning on the same visa

"Welcome to our country." - Been an age since I've heard any American's say that to someone not from here. Unfortunate.
Is it not common? I hear it every time I visit the USA from europe . The TSA says: "Welcome to the USA". and even "enjoy!" with a smile on their faces. I think it is half luck and half your attitude towards them. I both look and sound quite non- threathening though so I am not profiled as a danger

Ure reporting the really life of African countries, I remember in 2009 I was in a certain country watching a certain international channel tv news ( prefer not to mention) with white friend the reporter was reporting African business news he was in Tanzania and he said he didn't find anything than his foot prints and he didn't show any urban areas..I never forget that sh****.

Where did you learn your Swahili? Online? How long did it take?
I started off online with some apps, and then I got a teacher. But the best way to do it is just get to Tanzania and talk to people, people here are always willing to help with your Swahili!

Anyone there wearing a mask? Have you heard about overcrowded hospitals?
No one wears masks here outside of hospitals and maybe expensive hotels. Some foreigners will wear them though
Same thing happened to me when in Dar, it takes about 72hrs for the phone careers to receive your finger prints from immigration. Heads up for others if you go to get a sim card right away it won’t work you’ll have to either have a Tanzanian friend register it for you or you wait the 72hrs to go get it.

My swahili is really bad 😂 I am sometimes even confused about all of these greetings. I am studying swahili now but your videos are really good to learn this language as well 👍🏻😊

What is the situation with the PCR tests on arival? Did you need one? Can't wait to go to TZ too.
Currently no PCR tests needed for Tanzania, but you'll need one if you transfer through Kenya
@@SabbaticalTommy Thanks for letting me know that. I wonder how did you fly? As all the airlines that I have available that fly to Tanzania require that test regardless of anything.
@@armandstrencis4204 I flew from New York with a transfer in Nairobi. Got the PCR test within 5 days of the trip. I think you can fly through Qatar if you're unable to get the test
