Great video. One thing that I noticed when using my XP is that cruise control probably uses less of the battery. I think those would answer most questions of how to ride to save battery and increase range for changing conditions.
Thanks for the comments and the suggestion showing battery drain with different levels of human effort! Will add this as suggestion for a future episode !!
IT HAPPENED TO YOUR WIFE ONE TIME... LOL!!! THIS IS A GREAT REVIEW AND DEMO OF THE PAS. THANK YOU. I'M WAITING FOR MY XP STEP THROUGH TO ARRIVE, HOPEFULLY LATER THIS MONTH. (SEPTEMBER 2020) THANKS AGAIN!
The PAS is set to 5 levels as default, but you can also change that in the PO5 settings. If you change the setting from 1 (default) to 2, you'll have 9 levels instead of 5. With 9 levels, you spread out the range of your set speed. On the other hand, if you want only 3 levels of speed, change PO5 to 0.

This is the video the company should offer on how the bike works! The only other area I am still exploring is using the throttle when in a given PAS and pedaling to try to find an intermediate speed between the fixed speeds. Can you comment on that?
Rick... I'm not sure what you mean? To set cruise control you need to be in a PAS setting (say PAS 1), be pedaling, and use the throttle to increase the speed to the desired setting...then press the down arrow until the display indicates. Cruise ... then you can release the throttle and it will hold that speed. Does that make sense? If I misunderstood your question please reply back. Thanks !
Hi, I learned more about the operation of this bike from this video than I have and all the other videos I've seen it combined. One question I do have is does shifting in anyway interplay with pedal assist. In other words, as the pedal assist is bringing you up to a desired speed, do you have to be shifting along the way? I saw you shift a couple of times but not many.
The shifting is completely independent. The motor is in the wheel hub so is direct drive.. it doesn't matter what gear you are in. The shifting is just to give you (the human pedaler) the right cadence based on your speed and/or terrain..so just like a regular bike
great video. very informative. I feel ready to take my first ride now that the snow is melting. Sorry to say but I think you need to adjust your helmet for better protection. It looks loose and sits a bit back on your head. (15 years EMT and have picked up a few unconscious bike riders)
I just ordered a Lectric XP today. One thing I wasn’t sure about was how to carry a water bottle. I see you had water. How/where did you carry it? By the way your video is great!
Thanks Robin! I've seen others use various accessories to mount their water bottle but I haven't tried them myself yet. I just put in in the pannier bag and grab it when I stop. Not super convenient but it works for now!
Question when you are in the different PAS modes, I see that you peddle it will keep the motor engaged, my question are you using the throttle at the same time? Or just peddling enough to have PAS kick in and maintain the speed each PAS is set up too.
You don't need to use the throttle..just pedal and it will keep the bike at the preset speed for that PAS level. Of course you can also use the throttle at the same time to temporarily speed up
Great video. My only question is wouldn't you not only shift down on the PAS but also on the gear selection? The factory suggests you always start out in gear number 1. Thanks
You can, yes, but don't have to. Even if you are in a high gear you can easily start out by using the throttle. The gear has nothing to do with the electric drive...
Finally able to test ride and getting used to the PAS & throttle. Had my bike for 2 weeks in spring here in Valley City ND and it’s been too windy and uncomfortably cold until today. Thank you for the tutorial. Question what’s the top speed in throttle only without pedaling and does it go faster with throttle IN the higher PAS level ?
Hi I'm glad you're able to enjoy your bike now! Mine goes about 20-23 mph without pedaling. I have unlocked the class 3 setting so that it is not limited to 20. The pas doesn't matter when you use the throttle.
Thank you for this video. I just pre-ordered two Lectric XP 2.0 bikes and your explanation of how it all works is great! I've heard others say for safety you should coast around corners or make sure PAS is at 0 if pedaling and to not be using the throttle while going around corners to prevent the bike from kicking out if on pine needles or wet leaves etc. Would you agree with what others are saying?
The gears are purely for pedaling... like any normal bike. There is a 7 speed Shimano derailleur that you can use to control your pedaling cadence vs. pedaling difficulty. So, the shifting of those gears has nothing to do with PAS or cruise control... just set it so that your pedaling cadence (RPM) is comfortable.
Yes, it shows how much battery is remaining... not sure it is super accurate, seems to stay full for a long time, then suddenly drop to half! Regarding dimensions, sorry I don't have that handy, I'll try to measure next time I fold the bikes... but a lot of people buy 50 gallon storage containers and they fit in there, and that makes them much easier to handle when folded and loading in the car!
I’ve found PAS1 is so slow that I almost fall over. My best range is at PAS2. PAS3 and 4 have the same range which is half of PAS2. PAS5 has 1/3 the range of PAS2.
Hello did you adjust your PAS strength setting (P12 in the manual)? Mine is set at 1 and I don't think PAS is doing anything. I could have a connector issue, but will also first try adjusting my P12 setting to a higher level.
If the XP is at factory setting, Class 2, the power assist is limited to 20 mph in PAS mode 3, 4 & 5. In Class 2 setting, any speeds above 20 mph, say down hill or human power, the motor will shut off. In Class 2, full throttle maximum is 20 mph. If the XP settings have been changed to Class 3, in PAS mode 5, power assist is limited to 28 mph. Speeds above 28 mph the motor will shut off. In Class 3, full throttle maximum is approx. 21 mph. To answer your question, if settings are changed to Class 3, and the cruise control is set at its maximum (approx 21 mph), if you are in Pas mode 5, with hard pedaling, you can reach a speed of 28 mph. Throttle or no throttle is irrelevant beyond 21 mph. Note: you can actually set the cruise control at speeds above 21 mph, but the motor assist will shut off once above 21 mph even if it was set at a speed above the 21 mph limit.
@@Onyasix cruise or no cruise in pas 5 with speed turned up u can do 25 steady and easy with minimal revolutions. 1,2&3 are all legal in my state. No requirements just like a standard bike.
@@rodgerlodge4046 I miss read your comment, I thought you were asking a question. I did not realize that you were making a statement. You are right, if your XP setting has been changed to Class 3, in PAS 5, you can obtain 25 mph with minimal effort. I did a 19-mile training ride a couple of months back in PAS mode 5 and was able to maintain speeds between 24 and 26 mph for most of the ride. Once the battery level gets below 44 volts speeds start dropping noticeably. 👍
There is no way to do it that I am aware of... if you put it in PAS 1... it is essentially the same.. it will only pedal assist up to like 6 mph and you can pedal or use the throttle to go faster.

We are so sorry for the shipping damage to your shocks. The damage will not affect the integrity of the forks or affect the suspension at all. With that, we have a couple of options: we can refund you up to $50, or order you a free accessory up to $50. We can also replace the fork, but we need you to send us your damaged fork back first, and our warehouse has been backed up and is about 2-3 weeks behind. We would also have made the replacement or take it into a bike shop. This may mean it could be another month before you are able to ride again. Let us know which you would prefer! Again, the dent will not affect your ride at all, but it is noticeable, and we can replace the forks for you if that is the direction you want to go. Best, Joseph
Hi Randy... I am not sure what you are referring to on your comment... I don't know what you mean about the shipping damage... are you sure that you made the comment on the right video?
To be honest, I would not give it to a 13 year old... it is too expensive and is not really designed to be a toy.. eg lack of suspension means not good off road or on jumps etc and can't be left outdoors in rain. Also would be a target for theft. I guess it depends on the person but in general I wouldn't recommend

@@YoungatHeartAdventures Thanks. I’m getting the bags also and thought that’s how I’d have to carry water. 👍
Of course you can also use the throttle at the same time to temporarily speed up
informative video
Nice mirrors
Great video. My only question is wouldn't you not only shift down on the PAS but also on the gear selection? The factory suggests you always start out in gear number 1. Thanks
You can, yes, but don't have to. Even if you are in a high gear you can easily start out by using the throttle. The gear has nothing to do with the electric drive...
@@YoungatHeartAdventures Thank you
what mirror are you using? great video also
Thank you so much for your time and kind spirit I wish you the best of health and prosperity on your journey! >:D
Thank you for the kind wishes! Blessings to you as well !
I've got an XP like the one in the video. My question is where did you get the rear view mirror. I'd like to get one similar.
Hi I got the mirror on Amazon... here is the link... have fun!

Yes I would agree with that... I mention that caution on one of the videos ...it is something to get used to doing
U got your already since I ordered mine couple days ago and they told me that it will take couple weeks before gets to me
OMG, thank you!
Do you have to use gears when using pas and throttle? I do not understand.
Is the energy bar the amount of battery you have remaining? Also what are the dimensions of these bikes when they are folded?
Yes, it shows how much battery is remaining... not sure it is super accurate, seems to stay full for a long time, then suddenly drop to half! Regarding dimensions, sorry I don't have that handy, I'll try to measure next time I fold the bikes... but a lot of people buy 50 gallon storage containers and they fit in there, and that makes them much easier to handle when folded and loading in the car!
@@jim2shoes1 that's a good point I never thought of it that way!! Thanks!
Laura Kissinger The bikes are much larger than I was expecting. We have two and they will take up a good amount of the back of our 4runner.
Great vid , dude. Could you get a dead cat for your mic, the wind noise is very annoying. Thanx.
Thanks 😊
I’ve found PAS1 is so slow that I almost fall over. My best range is at PAS2. PAS3 and 4 have the same range which is half of PAS2. PAS5 has 1/3 the range of PAS2.
Hello did you adjust your PAS strength setting (P12 in the manual)? Mine is set at 1 and I don't think PAS is doing anything. I could have a connector issue, but will also first try adjusting my P12 setting to a higher level.
No I did not make any adjustments.. just running with factory settings
If you set cruise at 20 and pas at 5 with just enough pedaling to keep it running you can drive at 25 mph with no throttle.
I just notice the mirror on your bike. Do you like it and where did you get it??
Yes it works aell.. we got it on Amazon

@@YoungatHeartAdventures Thank you
Do you have the regular XP or the Step Thru?
We have the regulars.. but my wife now wishes we would have waited for the step thru... she would have gotten that one!
how do you shut pedal assist off but still can be able to use the throttle to drive on.
There is no way to do it that I am aware of... if you put it in PAS 1... it is essentially the same.. it will only pedal assist up to like 6 mph and you can pedal or use the throttle to go faster.
@@YoungatHeartAdventures ya there is i already figured it out you got to get the instruction manual thats meant for the lcd display screen and they all use pretty much the same one and have the same settings i downloaded the pdf files and printed it out in paper form so I could add it to my manual for my ebike and it works.
@@YoungatHeartAdventures Watch this video this guy has and he gives the link to the pdf file and manual to the same lcd screen you have too and it works just follow his instructions and check it out. th-cam.com/video/6_LtXPpsROY/w-d-xo.html

ARE YOU USING A DRONE FOR SOME OF YOUR VIDEO? I'M REALLY JUST PREPARING TO GET STARTED ONCE MY XP ARRIVES. YOU DO GREAT VIDEO. PLEASE EXPLAIN YOUR DEVICES. THANK YOU.
I do use a drone (DJI Spark) for some of my videos... but not this one!! Have fun on your new XP and stay safe!
Best,
Joseph
Hi Randy... I am not sure what you are referring to on your comment... I don't know what you mean about the shipping damage... are you sure that you made the comment on the right video?
How do you get to 28MPH?
You have to unlock that functionality... I should make a video on it
@@YoungatHeartAdventures I would watch it, just ordered a bike but wondering how that works when I get mine.
Do you think a 13 year old could ride this bike?
To be honest, I would not give it to a 13 year old... it is too expensive and is not really designed to be a toy.. eg lack of suspension means not good off road or on jumps etc and can't be left outdoors in rain. Also would be a target for theft. I guess it depends on the person but in general I wouldn't recommend
I found there is no difference between any of the PAS settings.
Sounds like you should call support.. something is not programmed right
