Your father chose wisely. For the moment and for musical excellence. I'm playing his work for my young kids as well and they like it. A wonderful way to remember your dad.
Mark Knopfler looks at Chet Atkins like a kid would look at Santa. The admiration and appreciation is obvious. Even though Knopfler has carved out his own niche in the music world, it's still humbling and nice to see such respect for one of his icons and guitar heroes. A beautiful song made even more so by the vocal brilliance of the Everly brothers, Mark wrote it but the EBs took it a level higher.
Chet Atkins, the maestro, Mark who wrote this beautiful song and plays beautifully with Chet, and the most wonderful duo ever, the Everly Brothers. I shall always remember this.

Great version of this song by the brothers, you can see how much it means to Knopfler playing this song with them. They will be sadly missed by everybody. This song really suits their vocals.

He just enjoys the company of fellow musicians and appreciates each one's talent: you can see it in his face. The Everly Brothers influenced his own music and he and Chet were close friends. We don't have to oversell Knopfler. He is a fabulous artist and does subordinate his play in service to the song, but he is a human being, just like the rest of us. Also, you need to have some ego to be healthy; you just want balance. From what I see, he has a love of music that has no bounds and has dedicated his life to it. He is amazing to watch as he practices his craft and reveals it to an audience...
