Every generation has its own era of music, please respect that. I love every era of music., I can always relate to it. ❤

I want to stay around you
    And so I beg you
    Let it be me
Don't take this Heaven from one
If you must cling to someone
    Now and forever
    Let it be me
    Each time we meet, love
    I find complete love
    Without your sweet love
    What would life be?
    So never leave me lonely
Tell me you love me only
    And that you'll always
    Let it be me
    Each time we meet love
    I find complete love

@geraldkotyk9792 - "Tormented"? Why do you think so? They certainly aren't as young in this performance as they were when they debuted "Let It Be Me" in the 50's. But you can never slight the talent, dedication, and work ethic of The Everly Brothers. And I have a theory about the final resting place of their souls. Both parents, Ike and Margaret Everly, were deeply religious, God-fearing church folk. But they were Baptists, not Pentecostals, and there seems to have been a mile-wide gap between their private beliefs and their public shows. Ike performed in honky-tonks. Phil and Don glorified physical romance without the holy covenant of marriage. They sincerely prized and appreciated recognition by the world. But at the end of life, I believe the soul remembers God and the seed of faith is not crushed. Friends say that Phil picked up his Bible again in the years before his death.
I also believe, without any proof, that Ike and Margaret must have prayed over their sons and dedicated them, their gifts, and their talents to the Lord. Ignoring their wild rock-and-roll days, The Everly Brothers are the only secular music group whose remarkable voices always evoke words like "heavenly" and "angelic." I believe it because a coal miner with a fifth-grade education (not really sure how long Ike stayed in school) worked hard, kept food on the table, kept his family together, and taught his sons a family trade (music) that propelled them onto the world stage for five decades. They were hungry many days, but they never starved. All of those facts are truly miraculous, and only God could have done it. Amen.
