    Very good video, but when you make a review about a double action revolver, you would shoot both in double action and single action to show us the diferences between SA and DA.

    I got the 5" and 7." Would have gotten the 3," but I got that 66 2.75" when they came out and then I got a 327 sc/s.
    I personally can't justify buying this gun, but everybody else should be able to.

    Seeing how well you handle that recoil and how you always shoot in single action, why don't you just get yourself a single action 44 mag?😂😂

      I find both single and double action revolver shooting enjoyable and often shoot this pistol in double action as well th-cam.com/video/d0Qy6P_XbvY/w-d-xo.html. My only .44 Magnum revolver is a double action which I also shoot in both single and double action th-cam.com/video/Ps4ajJhAm2w/w-d-xo.html

    Have this same unit coming for a hiking excursion from Sports South. Always wonder why folks take a defensive oriented revolver and shoot it single action?

    • @GigatonsGunworks
      @GigatonsGunworks  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      "Defensive" revolvers don't typically come with hammers, or have spur-less / shrouded hammers which the 686 is not offered with as far as I'm aware. Those guns also all tend to be sub-compacts and not full-size revolvers like the 686. If it has an exposed hammer spur, it's there to be cocked manually if you want to. If you want to see how this gun performs in double action, you can check that out here th-cam.com/video/d0Qy6P_XbvY/w-d-xo.html or th-cam.com/video/T-2G17UsSa4/w-d-xo.html. Congrats on your upcoming 686, it's a fantastic shooter and one of my favorite wheel guns!

      @@GigatonsGunworks Been shooting L frames since 1982 I never ever use in single action. That's how you develop defective nureal pathways which can lead to bad outcomes in defensive shooting. If you cock a gun in practice you will cock it under stress. Which can lead to those nasty wrongful death suits. Lots of folks who lack professional instruction fail to grasp the subconcious nature of firearms training.

    • @GigatonsGunworks
      @GigatonsGunworks  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Glad you found what works best for you! While I understand your point of view, I'm inclined to disagree. Firearm manufacturers don't provide a hammer spur on the pistol purely for decoration and it both has a function and can be good fun. Not everything about firearms is about shooting a bad guy and not everyone uses every revolver they own (or even a revolver at all) for conceal carry or defensive use. I find that being well versed in all aspects of my firearms as well as well practiced in all shooting disciplines a joyful experience and makes me a better shooter and helps me to appreciate the hobby and sport that much more.

      @@GigatonsGunworks Oh I understand but a comitment to trying to master the modern technique of the handgun does not allow for anything that dulls the skills necessary to remain left of the bang. Cocking a defensive oriented firearm is like buying a Corvette and not ever taking any performance driving techniques. Classic Dunning Kruger effect

    Yall hating on him shooting single action when single action helps you aim better in life or death situations. Especially when your limited on ammo using a revolver in the first place a spray and pray method is your worst choice. If he truly wants a self defense pistol I'm sure he has or can get a semi auto which holds at least double if not triple the amount of ammo where spray and pray can actually be somewhat formidable.

      It's a habit I developed when I was younger due to miscounting my shots to make sure I didn't drop good rounds. That hasn't happened in ages but I kept the habit. You'll catch me doing it with every wheel gun 😂

      Hope to add the 3” to my collection as well. I held the 7” version. Too front heavy for my taste. Love the revolver! But had (2) issues with mine. 1) Really dirty for a new gun. The grip fitment was really bad! Getting s set of Hogue’s most likely.

      @@J.R.F.23 Ah I'm sorry to hear your gun wasn't perfect out of the box but that sounds like a sensible solution to me. I've also done a few grip changes for some of my revolvers either for ergonomics or looks and I've always been happy with the results. I agree, the 7" was too front heavy for me as well and just a little too much gun for what I wanted out of it. Good luck with your upgrade, Hogue makes great aftermarket grips!

      There's nothing wrong with that, but maybe change it up some time and do bit of single action shooting too! It can be a good deal of fun. I personally enjoy revolvers in both double and single action. The manufacturer doesn't provide a hammer spur just for decoration 😄Otherwise you could just buy one of the hammerless models to save on a tiny bit of weight and reduce snagging.
