I understood that the Rugar probably is the better pistol, i bought the Walther because i wanted to and understood that it is finicky about ammo. But i also found a solid fix to this problem...the captured replacement recoil spring offered by a few diff companies. Since that swap, my pistol has run pretty flawlessly. But i do admit, i only run CCI Mini Mags and CCI Velocitors thru mine.
The P22 is a great pistol and is usually priced much lower than the SR22 for almost the exact same features. I'm glad the upgraded recoil spring is working out for you. If you only feed it Mini-Mags and Velocitors, you should always have a consistent and fun experience! CCI produces nothing but top tier .22 ammunition 😄
Yeah like the styling and price of the P22. But almost every video I've seen shows its unreliable. I'm going to pay a little more for the Ruger. Thanks for the video
You're very welcome, I hope you enjoy your upcoming SR22 purchase 😄. I'm a big fan of it because it's just not picky with ammo and chews through cheap bulk .22 without any hiccups in feeding. Thanks so much for watching!
I'm about to be able to pick up my Walther P22 Target Model in just a couple of days. You're over here making me think maybe I should have saved up for the Ruger LOL. But it was like twice the price for a SR22. The base model of the Walther can be had for like 250. I paid $300 ish for a new Target model with the longer Barrel. Hopefully the longer Barrel will help with cycling. The SR22 starts out at about 450.
Yeah the P22 costs quite a bit less than the SR22 and you get good features and accuracy for what you pay. Maybe yours will be less picky with ammo and perhaps the slightly longer barrel will give the slide the additional blow back it needs to cycle better than mine. If it ends up not liking trash .22, just stick with better quality hotter rounds. It's a fun little shooter that's pretty accurate for the price. Good luck to you.
The Walther can usually be found cheaper than the Ruger, sometimes by quite a lot depending on where it's on sale. I'd recommend the P22 only if you want to run the hottest .22LR ammo to ensure proper cycling. If you want to run a wide variety of .22LR ammo, the SR22 is the way to go. I personally prefer the Ruger due to the more reliable cycling and slightly lighter trigger than the Walther. Otherwise, both pistols are very similar in size and weight with similar sights as well as adjustable grips.
@st.5218 I have the Walther P22 and I agree somewhat with what he posted...But I will say this. I had to modify the P22 a little for it to run like a champ. First thing is I purchased was a captured recoil spring assembly. Second thing I purchased was a beefer extractor from Lugus Mfg, which is no longer in business I believe. Lastly...I polished the feed ramp on the barrel. The minimum fps I run on the Walther P22 is 1200. As an example the last time I went to the range with the P22, I shot Remington Thunderbolt which has an fps of 1255. It ran flawlessly with no issues.

Falo aqui do Brasil e tenho a P22 Walther e de fato só funciona bem com CCI ogival Mini Mag, ou federal punch, ou CCI stinger, isso é fato 👍🏼🇧🇷🤠👏

The Ruger was shooting well, how do you like the Walther?
