    Looking to get this in 7 in. Just to see how much it soaks up those rounds. Afraid it might be a little front heavy, but that long sight picture should make it great on the range and respectable as a home defense piece.

  • @LionquestFitness
    @LionquestFitness 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Well Mark, that 686 of yours has got me thinking about one. Realistically though, I was at the range yesterday watching different folks practicing with their micro nines they had for self defense, and I had to shake my head. Most people would be better off with an all steel snubbie that had some weight to absorb recoil. Snubbies aren't hard to master; they just need practice. I can hold my own with various semi-autos, but for me it is what gun can I get the most accuracy out of and that is going to be a double action revolver.

    • @garageguy879
      @garageguy879  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello Greg,,like I said,I'm blaming you & The Scotsman for me buying this,,lol.I have to agree with you about snubbies,I really enjoy both of my Taurus snubbies,and I've been shooting them more than any other firearms I have.I've let serveral friends shoot them and then they have went and bought their own.I put a Ruger GP100 on layaway yesterday,blued finish and 4 inch barrel,hope to have it in a couple of weeks and I'll be dedicating that video to Mr Holster.

    • @tonyrebel63
      @tonyrebel63 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are a very smart man. I love my snub 38 special and 357 Magnum. They both can do damage when used correctly. As we say its not the size of the dog that matters its the bite that will get you. Whats the point of having a big gun if you cant use it right.

    • @zdub8438
      @zdub8438 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Seconded on the all steel snubbies. I've got a few taurus 856's and they all outshoot auto guns. Why spend $2500 on a huge sig p210/x6 or CZ target pistol when a little $200 pocket gun will squeeze out the same groups. Less moving parts means accuracy is entirely dependent on YOU instead of on ammo and barrel to slide to frame tolerances. Forces you to shoot properly, but is much more rewarding for the effort. I've been an auto guy for 25 years. I had no interest in revolvers a year ago but after being forced to buy a steel 856 by a malicious $130 price tag, I've now got more revolvers than autos. And I can't stop. Im not gonna be happy until I have a s&w 686+ 7" talo edition, a 6" s&w model 10, a taurus 605 and a taurus 942. I'm gonna end up homeless under a bridge with 40 revolvers to lug around.

    Revolvers don't get the love they deserve in my opinion. Their reliability is unquestioned and their hassle free maintainence would be a real benefit to a whole lot of new shooters. They are as accurate as any semi auto out there due to their fixed design and are not picky about your ammo selection. Finally, their just great fun to shoot, loading and unloading is part of the fun and you don't have to scower the ground picking up brass.

    • @garageguy879
      @garageguy879  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You hit the nail right on the head.Most people choose a semi auto over a revolver because of capacity and easier to conceal.I find I'm a much better shot with a revolver.Why?I don't know but revolvers just seem to work better for me,and with being able to hit a target much easier with a revolver means less rounds used.That takes care of the capacity issue and ease of concealment,I just adjust what I'm wearing.Thanks for the good comment.

      @@garageguy879 wow! You replied at just the right time.! Some friends invited me over to shoot this afternoon, so I took my taurus 856 and taurus 65 357 and outshot them both with the fewer rounds I had. One friend had an M&P compact and the other had a glock 21. Being a good friend I was humble, but honestly, I'm not all that impressed with autos. One of my friends girlfriend is now interested in getting the 856 snub. God bless you and stay safe.
