He highly doubted that Nirvana would have continued, I think they would release one last album in 1995 and by 1996 they would no longer be together. The only thing that would have happened is that the debut of Foo fighters would be delayed and would come out until 1997 or 1998
This. Kurt and Dave just had two different approaches to music. Two powerhouses in the same band is never a good thing in the music industry. Foo Fighters was gonna happen one way or another, whether Kurt left and joined Hole or Dave broke off on his own
I think that nirvana would have broken up in 2000, dave would make the foo fighters album, krist and kurt would come back together in 2004, and they would go to a foo fighters concert, and they would get dave back on the band, and they would play a nirvana show after the foo fighters show. The band would come back together, and still be going today. I know this story goes against alot of things said about their lives, and what they say would happen, but I just like to think this is how it would happen. It most likely would go the way dave said it though
How secret were these songs? Dave had confirmed in interviews that Kurt was aware of two later Foo Fighters songs, Exhausted & Alone + Easy Target. Plus Marigold was recorded by Dave and krist and put onto the b-side of All Apologies.
I was going to write this same thing but way snarkier. Dave buried his material deep on a single for one of their biggest songs. No one will find it there.🙄
Well the other truth is that Dave grohl was so damn jealous of kurts ease and little effort at making his music and it just being a magical success . People , I think ,velieved that nirvanas sound was pouring out of Kurt like an avalanche of effortless magic and the integrity that Kurt got that truth be told none of the three thought there would really ever be such a ridL wave of success because of the few things 5hat were happening at the exact right time , i.e. the sound was completely foreign to listeners and as luck would have it Kurt would not only be the front man of the band but also the spear head of a completely new sound that was perfectly played at the right time and Dave has seemed to have always been that guy who was always trying to be something other than what he was supposed to be and was getting paid to do exactly what he was hired to do . He was in the back ground squirming with discomfort and jealousy and just bashing his teeth in resentments that grew on a daily basis as Dave sat in his lil stool in the background and saw that every one was enamored by what Kurt was doing . He started to really hate Kurt even tho he was so jealous he was like a little kid who was drowning in envy and was just constantly keeping Kurt on a competitive and loosely anxious status throughout 5he whole experience constantly practically begging to come up front with Kurt and if at all possible take over . But the real nirvana fans who were following them from city to city show after show show to see this humble but completely aware of the talent and aware of the strange thing that was occuring in regards to the punk scene and listener and that if truth be told was loosely played in a way that more than just the punk scenester could Appreciate. The metal folk could love the sound that was raw and less produced and more authentic than the metal heads were used to at all enjoying . Furthermore , I was in the Houston punk scene and grunge punk was just a really magical time and there was an excitement about the new sound that hung around also . Dave grohl just couldn't and shouldn't have even kept goin when he realized that he was not the singer nor would he ever be nor ever really be respected for trying because this band and the sound and all was complete and would never be anything else but Kurt and Kris secret authentic parents to it all and Dave was still in the back ground with all his dreams and hopes to be a rock star and popular and famous and head honcho . He was said to have been fuckin Courtney on the cool also prolly out of spite and also prolly cuz it wasn't hard to get Courtney either and there are faint whispers and some mysterious anomalies that didn't sit right in the "suicide " investigation ... It seemed to almost smell slightly of Courtney and Dave kinda working in the back ground maybe spurring and so e how even bringing the right stuff to Kurt at the right or wrong times almost I'm hopes to just think he could take over and be just fine and just as loved and admired as this true moody punk rock icon like Kurt was . But we all know the truth of that .. because as soon as he could ol drummer Dave was out front as soon as he could and just as we all used to say ,that Dave would never really be authentic punk royalty because he was a good drummer but would never allow himself to be just the good drummer . So it came to pass and he became what we knew he d be which was a very candy pop rocker of very significant mediocre affair . But hey , what do any of us really know of the real shit goin down in that van . Ol Dave loved and adored his mentor and teacher of all things authentic and real
No, Kurt was a drug-fueled train wreck. Dave, Krist and even Pat admitted that things were very strange and tense in the band which made things even more difficult than normal.
I think had Kurt survived he would have decided to take a couple of years off to get his head right. In the meanwhile the other three nirvana members would record the foo fighters material. Dave might do the drums and get a touring drummer in for live shows. Then after the colour and the shape album they all talk about what's next. The first two foos albums were essentially all Dave's work so imagine the first two albums would sound similar. Pat left around the time of the second foos album and maybe this would be when there would be a slot for Kurt to come back and form a hybrid arrangement which played both band's work. Though it's hard to imagine Kurt wanting to be a rhythm guitarist, laying a foundation for Dave however.
There is no doubt in my mind that if Kurt was still alive, that nirvana would cease to exist or the very least be put on a long hiatus. Dave growl success with the foo fighters is quite evident, whether if Kurt was still alive. In a parallel universe, Kurt would still be alive, healthy and clean and divorced from Courteney love with zero contact snd he would of been prolific with other music projects and believe that he and Dave would of worked on some musical projects that would of been massive. 🙏 Kurt
Had Kurt lived, I don’t think the band would have survived much longer, even if he got cleaned up and removed from the toxic people. At a certain point, it became too much, and it had run its course.
Yeah I very much agree. People tend to take great drummers for granted and forget how their playing elevates the songs. Grohl definitely did that with Nirvana.
The true answer is we'll never know because we never saw it happen. Rest easy Kurt, and love you so fucking much Dave. Both helped me a lot on many ocassions, so fuck the conspiracy theories - lets enjoy Nirvana and Foos.
They recorded one last and "new" song, which was "You know you're right" and it's supposed to exist a full band version of "Do Re Mi". They had songs and they were working on them, even facing problems internally. I think their next move was coming back to their roots, moving back to a smaller record label.
I do think Dave would have stayed but Dave would have done his own thing outside of Nirvana. I also believe that Dave would have been more involved with writing songs with Nirvana. Kurt said himself that having someone else helping with songwriting for Nirvana would be a good thing.
I don't think so. Dave was already fed up with the toxicity of Kurt Cobain. More than likely he would've been fired or left. Him staying was dependent on Kurt needing him and Dave finally standing up to Kurt.Look at how Chad Channing ended up he was fired but they remained friendly. I believe it would most likely have been like that for Dave.
I was born in 1987 and didn't listen to them until the early 2000's and it was the end of an era which you can see in the acoustic MTV set. On the other hand, Pat Smear I think would have redefined he dynamic if things had gone differently. I can't say because I wasn't there but I think they could have turned out a lot different than things did, if that were something Kurt believed in.
Kurt was strung out on heroin and burned out. It wasn't just Dave; Kurt was "fed up" with Krist too because Kurt was smacked out on heroin and became a complete idiot on top of having always been a control freak with his music anyway. Kurt was well on his way to destroying his own band but ended up killing himself before he could. Kurt didn't have friends at that point. He only had drug buddies. Kurt wanted to make some of Dave's songs (Alone + Easy Target, Exhausted) into Nirvana songs but never did.
If Kurt was still alive I believe nirvana wouldn’t have lasted past 94. No way Kurt could keep going like that and there was too much tension between them considering the drugs circle vs those who weren’t
Exactly! 95 tops! Kurt would break Nirvana up and go solo, either acoustic or with other band... He had stated once or twice that Nirvana wouldn't go any further and he was getting bored and repetitive.
Kurt, controlling, arrogant, EXTREMELY IMMATURE. He once said he wanted to grow gradually, and then in another interview, saying he wanted to be the biggest band in the world. He was a walking contradiction. The bloke would've been a nightmare to spend so much time with.
A simplistic analysis for a deeply complex personality who, finally only tried to overcome his trouble childhood and his personal demons. Do you think you're a perfect human being without any kind of flaws for judging him like this without knowing him personally??? BTW, what he said in interviews is to be taken like a pinch of salt because he liked to troll journalists back then...
@@StonerMatt Of course I have flaws mate, and obviously I didn't know him, but, isn't that what happens when you put yourself in the public arena, you get scrutinised. Especially when he was constantly making immature, snotty remarks about bands he thought were beneath him. It's not all bells and whistles, especially if you want the big cash and celebrity that comes with it. If he didn't want to be in the limelight, don't do interviews, like Eddie Vedder, but, Kurt was everywhere, he seemingly wanted the limelight, and cash, and stardom... when it suited him.
I agree that I don't think Dave would still be in Nirvana if the band still existed. He didn't secretly record things behind Kurt's back like the video seems to imply. Kurt didn't know he was doing the recording but as soon as he was done with the demo he showed it to Kurt while he was in a bathtub and he kissed Dave and said they were great. There is even a couple songs off the demo Kurt wanted to make into Nirvana songs but he was afraid to ask Dave if he could change the lyrics lol. As Krist has said in many interviews that Kurt in 1993 was not the same person he was even a year earlier and he was out of his mind which i completely believe. Comments about firing Dave and not being excited about working together and collaborating more have to be taken with a grain of salt when you consider WHEN in time he said those things and what else was going on. This was a very impaired person saying things he probably didn't mean. They brought Dave into the band because he was such a good drummer and he helped make them what they were by being creative and using his "style" - It's hard for me to believe that an unimpaired person in the same situation would have anything negative say about Dave's drumming at all. You can't ask for much better, further lending credence to Kurt's state of mind when he said these things. I just think Dave would have wanted to pursue his own musicial ideas eventually, i doubt, after looking back on all he has done, you can see he could keep all that talent in the can and sit behind the drumset for Nirvana forever. It could have even been an admirable disengagement depending on if Kurt was still using. I'd like to think there would have been a Nirvana/Foo Fighters tour at some point. We'll never know however.
David Also had motive to Unalived Cobain if you just look at the actual facts and what was reported by those close to the band. And most musicians stick too the instrument they started on. In My opinion the way David all of the sudden came out as a lead singer and Guitarist composing and writing an entire album himself is suspect. David comes across as happy go lucky..... IMO He is a devious person and seems to have underlying narcissist tendencies.
@@PhiberOptik1979 with what Bird shot from a 10 gauge or the large undigested amount of heroin that never processed through his system? What's Kurt's official cause of death as determined by the coroner's office...not the first cop's on scene who deamed it a $uicide...(?)
I think if Kurt was still alive Foo Fighters would be an indie band that was blamed to have broke up Nirvana. People would follow Kurt no matter where he goes and Dave or anyone else would be like Courtney blamed for Kurt's problems.
I think your comment ignores what a giant dumpster fire Courtney was/is. That was more front and center, and this wasn't long enough after the Vogue article that it would've been forgotten. The harder she tried to rain shit on Dave, the stupider she'd make herself look, just like in our timeline.
@MomMom4Cubs i think your comment ignores how insane Kurt was and how much he fantasized and had mental issues. He couldn't accept reality, most of the time he would blame everyone for everything happening to him, it's funny to look back now. But just go and see he blames everyone for everything.
@MomMom4Cubs yes he would, if he went to record besides Nirvana and had a band of his own without Kurt, people would mock him and blame everything wrong with Kurt and Nirvana on him
@@osmankovacevic6135 Are you fr? Dave did not, at any time, provide hard drugs to Kurt, and did not take them away as punishment for some slight. I find it difficult to believe he'd be blamed for something he was always against and didn't contribute to.
The reason Kurt was having issues with Dave was that Courtney Love was insisting he take more royaltys and cutting Dave and Krist out was what he did. He lowered their Royatys and there lies where the rift started. DAVE hated Courtney for that and Courtney caused Kurt to take her side and hate on Dave.
I will be 49 in July and I’m not sure that younger people understand the magnitude of someone so larger than life as Kurt was in 1994, I was 17 about to be 18 when he died..Me and most friends I had could not listen to Nirvana for years, just too painful..Only in my 30s could I listen and once again enjoy the music…When Kurt died it ruined it all, the grunge scene, the music it all went away…But to answer the real question here Dave would have rode that Nirvana $ train till the wheels fell off, too good of $, for someone with his punk rock background and ethics, he knew a good thing…Would he have released other music? If Kurt had lived? We will never know that will we? Just an opinion from an old guy, who was there to see it all..And I like the Foo Fighters, but I loved Nirvana and that’s something Dave can’t understand to this day, jealousy…he just wasn’t Kurt..
I say this also yo ppl who wasnt teens or very close to teen years back in 90s. We couldnt get music easily. We had to go to mall, revord store, Ames, Big Wheel, etc to get tapes. Or get through mail for a penny. We had no internet. We listened to radio for hours just to hear our favorite song, we couldnt skip ads, commercials. Youd call in to radio, ask yo play a song theb sit and listen to see if they did. Music sucked bad. It was all about being famous, $$, and being treated like a STAR. 1 day here comes Smells like teen spirit. We was amazed hearing this music 1st time. I still feel this way bout Grunge. We saw Mtv with GnR, Poison, etc all about women being sex objects, men dressed in tights wearing makeup and ling teased hair, kinda like today 🤣. Hers guys who dont care about looks, cars, women and care about music. It was really a exciting time in music hearing all these bands, songs for 1st time ever. It was the best time for rock n roll. Gen x had their Elvis. But it was not a long ride. When he died it really killed, like him, the music. Im pretty sure he said hed like to grow old and play shows like Cash did. He loved the band and music. He hated the Business. He spoke about it alot. When u love doing something creative and its liked by many then ppl take it and make it a commodity, he wasnt having fun any more. It was so many from his own wife to gild moutain yo geffen whi cared not about his mental health, his drug issue, HIS band, or his happiness. They only cared about that nect check. If they wouldve given him 6 months or more off to get divorce as ge was trying to do, get clean and start fresh, hed be here. Nut he was a singing ATM worth more dead than alive. He leaves band and all from Wife to David geffen loses alot of $$ or he dies while on top and they keep that Cobain cash forever. Geffen hated In Utero cause is wasnt Nevermind 2. They cared about Mtv and radio time. It wasnt that. It was the best album for fans not for owners. They ran that man to the ground. They worked hin to death. He was really a great poet. I miss him alot. He helped me through alot if darkness as a young kid going through alot with parents divorce, losing a sibling, abuse, etc. Musics a powerful drug that can do alot of good. Im glad so many get to enjoy Kurt, Layne, Chris poetry. It was a great time to be alive, music, movies and Tv was really good. Now its whatever. We need another Cobain.
@@jasonchristopher2977So true about listening to the radio for hours hoping they'd play the song you wanted.... and then pressing record on the cassette player when the song came on. And I totally forgot about calling radio stations to request songs. Lol, good times
@@maureensullivan8898 Yes. They will never know how patient we had to be. We waited for all things that we get instantly. Also we didn't have all day or nite to wait for r song. Oh no moms in Bathroom, crap hurry up mom I'm trying to make a mix tape. Moms on cordless gabbing to aunt Ethel for 45 min now. Then u finally get drinks, snacks and u miss the 1st 30 seconds of Smells like Teen Spirit and friends ask Hey why did the start get cut off when playing. They have no idea. Have a great week.
I'm the same age. I mostly agree with you. Kurt is unique and grunge is unique. Both represent a moment in time we cannot go back. Sadly ... even when Dave and others try to imitate it, they always fall short. But , alas .... We still keep that feeling from that era. And that's unique as well !
Foo Fighters couldn’t kick the door open like Nirvana. They are a great band but that’s like comparing the Beatles and Wings. Plus one question that Dave will always get asked about is Nirvana/Kurt Cobain till the day he dies.
Kurt was a complete dick about Scentless Apprentice during that interview. Who yawns like that during an interview? Kurt as soon as that song was mentioned.
Yeah, Kurt was a winey brat who never grew up and constantly blamed his parents for how he was. While I do think Kurt is a better songwriter than Dave, he never learned the simplest of modesty because it wasn't "punk". Dave being a nice guy could badmouth Kurt any day but he shows modesty unlike the heroin junkie.
I do not think Nirvana would be a band today if Kurt was still alive. They probably would have made another record with Kurt Krist Dave and Pat maybe they might have got another drummer in to play on a few songs. At some point Kurt would have made a solo record. Probably every so often Nirvana would have got back together for a few reunion shows. Dave would have for sure at some point in the late 90’s formed the foo Fighters. But probably the lineup would have been different. Kurt and Krist probably would not be doing very much in the music biz. Aldo Kurt would not be married still to Courtney.
In a parallel universe, Kurt didn’t kill himself and Nirvana continued on… and yes, Dave STILL started Foo Fighters!! It was just bound to happen. In fact, in probably every parallel universe there is a Foo Fighters. It’s sort of a law of physics at this point.
Yeah. I think that Nirvana would not be around with the original lineup or at all... i did not know Kurt personally (obviously) but as an addict i strorgly feel that this was the only way it was going to go... i dunno, Dave seem the most sober and alloround nice guy so i dont think He would have had the endurance for being around a junkie whos unpredictable in every way. ❤🙏👍☕️
i would say yes because originally they were his little demos for fun that soon developed into "maybe this can be a nirvana song" but kurt was too afraid to ask for lyric change and it was just too early too tell because of kurts drug use and absence with the band.
If Dave was learning the hard way about songwriting, publishing, and sound recording royalties then he was probably motivated to release his own material
Dave Grohl is a genius when it comes to producing music. If he had co wrote with Kurt the band would surely rose to new heights. That is as long as everyone didnt get to messed up. But they did so it didnt
According to Dave Grohl himself he made Kurt Cobain listen to some songs he wrote and Kurt's reaction was positive and said something like "at least there is someone else who can write songs". But it was too late to salvage the sinking ship...
@@MrCroky123 Get over it. Kurt was not that great. Could not sing in tune live, could not play very well. People always say this kind of shit after their death. AIC was far above this band.
@@jarrydee2799 , lol ! I just love your lack of musical understanding. Dissonance is not actually a bad thing if you make it part of your sound register. A lay man, like you - it seems -, can't understand such stuff. I get it. But please, educate yourself first and understand why such "bad traits" as in your eyes, could create a sound reverenced by millions. I'm not a big fan myself of Nirvana and I actually like AIC more, just like yourself. But that's a question of musical taste. Try distinguishing both first and then come back to me again ... One Kurt Cobain fart has more musicality in it than 100 riffs from Dave Grohl ... the same with Weiland and Jeff in STP, the same with Layne and DuVall in AIC. Go get yourself and beer, listen to Incesticide, get drunk smoke a blunt and you'll change your mind while you listen to it.
Dave would have ventured out on his own however it wouldn’t have been big because everyone would have been calling foovfighters nirvana junior and mocked them for their sound looks and writing style
If Kurt had not died: Nirvana would’ve ceased to exist after In Utero tour. And Kurt would’ve become a solo artist. Kurt would’ve divorced Courtney. Dave would’ve started Foo Fighters and been successful. Kurt would’ve had a huge-ass public feud w Dave, calling Dave a sellout/careerist. Dave wouldn’t have responded back or engaged in the feud. Years would’ve gone by and eventually Kurt, Krist and Dave would’ve reunited for an album and tour.
Of course he'd have stayed in Nirvana, but he'd still have done Foo Fighters. Dave is a workaholic... Check out his discography, he's been on more albums than most people have even heard songs.
I can tell that you obviously did your homework work on retrieving facts about this. Dave soaked it all in like a sponge & knew what to do & what not to do in the music business. Unfortunately Kurt was one sad soul, & it’s extremely sad how it ended for him personally 💔 So, I’m convinced that Dave would have moved on eventually from Nirvana. But he might have not had the success If Nirvana stilled remained a band. Who knows🫤 Well done on this 👍🏻
In reality, Dave was a habitual boundary overstepper, as he was technically a hired drummer and not a founding member. I'll explain, once you appease, and let them do back up vocals, they want song writing credit, and then for the band to do the drummers songs (scentless apprentice is daves' music but kurts lyrics) and trust me im sure dave had a notebook of lyrics for kurt. Just, super annoying having a drummer like that. Also speaking from experience.
I don’t think Kurt would’ve survived under any circumstance considering his stomach ailments and severe drug use to quell it. On top of that being married to Love and absolutely hating the business end of his band. The guys in Mudhoney said touring with Nirvana was a nightmare compared to gigging with Pearl Jam. That goes to show that Kurt was listening to the wrong people or that he was an asshole himself. I mean he did write a song called I Hate Myself and I Want To Die. Plus his last dose of heroin was known as ‘body bag.’ Yeah, he wasn’t long for this world no matter how you slice it.
Dave and Kurt would’ve had a public media blasted beef, split up, taken their own musical paths, and both bands would currently be playing on cruise ships with weezer, and the likes
Let there be no doubt that Cobain was the driving force of NirvanaWhatever you think about FF, they do not hold a candle to Nirvana. Obviously with Kurts addiction there was a lot of turmoil. Yet, Without Nirvana, we would still think the Hair bands would still rule the Rock Scene.
Hasn't the music scene made it back to the pre-Nirvana type bs that preceded them..? Single female artists; meaningless r&b/hip-hop - talking about money, drug, and sex - just like the hair bands were doing...nothing original without risk, and the risk is nowhere to be found right now, so far as I can tell at least..!
The band would never have lasted. They’d have broken up by 1995 or so. Then after 10-15 years they’d get back together and still today do tours every now and then. I have a hunch Kurt was threatened by Dave’s songwriting and guitar prowess. I was best friends with all the band so I know how it would happen. The end.
No because I only think the wrong would still be around because I think Kurt Cobain would want his solo career also and Dave Grohl would still have a solar career. There would be large journalist as in Kurt Cobain when i or it would ever happen for Nirvana reunion. And they will ask Dave Grohl the same questions.
I think if Kurt never committed suicide, the band would go on a permanent hiatus after Kurt is found alive after being missing. Dave uses this as an opportunity to record the Foo Fighters debut album, feeling like Nirvana was over already whatsoever. Its still released in 1995 with Nate, William, and maybe Pat joining. Kurt decides to record the next Nirvana album, and both him and Dave get into conflict over Foo Fighters, because of Kurt feeling betrayed and upset that the drummer left again. This conflict would just be similar to the feud between John Lennon and Paul McCartney
I think Dave would've left and not stay in the band. Nirvana would not have lasted the rest of the 90's and their style of music would've faded out in popularity just like most styles do even if they kept going. I think Kurt knew that too. He was in pain physically and emotionally not sure how long he would've lasted too given he was always being scrutinized in the media world, wife, and drug addictions. If he hadn't died bc of gunshot wound, it would've been the drugs at the rate he was going. RIP Kurt
There's def a difference between the way Cobain and Grohl write; I can relate, having been in several similar bands.Grohl was important because he was more of a straightforward if technically capable player that made the songs more instantly accessible. Idiosyncracy was important to Cobain; he threw in structural obstacles for the sake of seeing how they played out. I like the FF , but I don't really repeatedly listen; DG has a formulaic and predictable way of creating compositions.Cobain wasn't always successful in his experiments, but at least they were usually interesting, and from the point of view of a musician, worth figuring out. What works or doesn't, - and why.I would rather fail outright a certain percent if some stuff was great, than be just okay most of the time. Ironically, Hawkins played a big part in FF success.
I agree they had differing writing styles, but I think it's fair to point out that Kurt's writing was intentionally simple? I'm not sure where the complicated arrangements you mentioned are? A lot of the vibe of nirvana was a reaction to overly complicated, somewhat self indulgent guitar solos and arrangements of the decade before. They were a great band, but they were hardly prog.
People started to stir shit up between Kurt and Grohl lately, creating a rivalry that wasn't there. Kurt was a genius when it comes to songwriting and Grohl can try but will never scratch that level of excellence. The truth is only one: Without Cobain and Nirvana, there will be no Foo Fighters or the frontman Grohl.
Nirvana was Kurt's creation. I think they would have continued without Dave. When listening in Utero 30 years version and those live gigs the band was not slowing down. I think Kurt had much good music to come if he would have lived.
It hard to predict what could have been 🤔 well id predicted no Dave and Krist my have had a falling out with Kurt because of Courtney but who to say what could have been
Syrupy sweet!? We're u alive back then? There was nothing sweet being reported upon Nirvana that I recall - it was all negative, all coming to a head, all inevitable, imho
@@ianherron1895 I’m talking about this retro version of history, Dave and Kurt were best friends, they lived together ya know The first 20 songs Dave wrote every body thought was a tribute to Kurt, that kinda crap I read and hear today from people that weren’t alive when it all happened The reality was different, like you pointed out, dude was busy pushing everyone away and Dave was getting ready to do something else. Had he not died, I believe things would’ve gotten nasty
I say we would of been lucky to have got another album from Nirvana. And an album after that not a chance. Kurt was a train wreck. If he hadn't taken his life, the drugs would of. in sad and dark way Nirvana finishing the way they did was a good thing for dave and foo fighters. Because if nirvana had stay around i think kurt would of kicked him out. You could see that from unplugged where dave had to use drum sticks that where so light that his playing was really soft. That was where kurt was going with Nirvana and i don't think that would of worked for dave and kurt.
I think Kurt calling that riff simple and boneheaded gets misread. That’s the way he talked about stuff he liked. It’s how he talked about his own stuff. Nirvana was the epitome of simple and boneheaded music. That was the goal.
Im pretty sure Mr Cobain would have ended up turning that shotgun on Dave and Courtney many times for riding his coat tails as they both ripped him off and Courtney was f*cking everybody but Kurt
He would have stayed for two or three years longer then left… only the Rolling Stones stay together forever, and even they came and went. Dumb question.

It seemed to almost smell slightly of Courtney and Dave kinda working in the back ground maybe spurring and so e how even bringing the right stuff to Kurt at the right or wrong times almost I'm hopes to just think he could take over and be just fine and just as loved and admired as this true moody punk
rock icon like Kurt was .
@@prettychaos1027 Holy shit dude! Lmao. You wrote me a god damn novel.
Kurt had a severe stomach ulcer and was self medicating bc there was a hole in his stomach too. So let's be fair when we call him an "addict"
My understanding is that Nirvana was already over at Kurt’s death….they just hadn’t told the public yet.
🙏 Kurt
Dave made those songs for fun, he recorded them for himself. It's not a secret that Nirvana wouldn't have continued past the In Utero tour.
Had Kurt lived, I don’t think the band would have survived much longer, even if he got cleaned up and removed from the toxic people. At a certain point, it became too much, and it had run its course.
I think he would have started other bands, he was literally the whole band. Genius don't stay dormant for long. He would have been a good producer.
@@Teekay617 "Literally the whole band" is overstating it, but he definitely would have done something musically had he survived.
I don´t understand why Kurt would have any issues with Dave´s drumming. To me it sounds his drumming was a perfect fit for Nirvana.
As a 40 something year old…Time heals old wounds…
They recorded one last and "new" song, which was "You know you're right" and it's supposed to exist a full band version of "Do Re Mi". They had songs and they were working on them, even facing problems internally. I think their next move was coming back to their roots, moving back to a smaller record label.
It's so amazing the things he's accomplished. Such a great career.
Nope.. that band was toxic and Courtney made it worse
Frankly, I think even if Kurt had lived, the band was probably done already. I remember those days pretty well.
Kurt was gonna write with Michael Stipe, that would have been interesting
Kurt was strung out on heroin and burned out. It wasn't just Dave; Kurt was "fed up" with Krist too because Kurt was smacked out on heroin and became a complete idiot on top of having always been a control freak with his music anyway. Kurt was well on his way to destroying his own band but ended up killing himself before he could. Kurt didn't have friends at that point. He only had drug buddies.
Kurt wanted to make some of Dave's songs (Alone + Easy Target, Exhausted) into Nirvana songs but never did.
Dave Grohl is Nirvana's drummer
I agree he kicked ass. What more could you ask for.
I totally agree
A simplistic analysis for a deeply complex personality who, finally only tried to overcome his trouble childhood and his personal demons. Do you think you're a perfect human being without any kind of flaws for judging him like this without knowing him personally??? BTW, what he said in interviews is to be taken like a pinch of salt because he liked to troll journalists back then...
@@StonerMatt
Of course I have flaws mate, and obviously I didn't know him, but, isn't that what happens when you put yourself in the public arena, you get scrutinised.
@mr.blonde66milkyway66 the man killed himself. And I'm one of his biggest fans. There is nothing that cannot be explained. There is no conspiracy l.
@@PhiberOptik1979 with what Bird shot from a 10 gauge or the large undigested amount of heroin that never processed through his system? What's Kurt's official cause of death as determined by the coroner's office...not the first cop's on scene who deamed it a $uicide...(?)
And U flagged and removed my first comment 👍
And all the sudden it pop's back up?!?! Interesting 🤔
@@osmankovacevic6135 Not really. I'm simply saying that Dave wouldn't be blamed the same way Courtney is for Kurt's problems of his own making.
She also killed Kurt. She's a garbage human being.
You really think Kurt was a helpless naive child that had to be coerced by Courtney to get more money for their dope use?
@endysdoodoo this is the truth
Kurt was done with nirvana and the whole music industry for me personally I loved Chad’s drumming he had double bass skills!!!!
Idk that double kick-drumz were highly necessary in Nirvana
yes, bad skills.

Nirvana original?! Yeah right...
Foo Fighters couldn’t kick the door open like Nirvana.
They are a great band but that’s like comparing the Beatles and Wings.
Plus one question that Dave will always get asked about is Nirvana/Kurt Cobain till the day he dies.
Thanks for the video about NEEERvana.
He had let fame go to his head and became arrogant and childish it seems
the man was not obliged to come on the interview itself, let alone answer the question. respectfully, get over yourself
Yawning is just a natural thing. Touring wears people out. Drug use wears you out
i think he would’ve did his own thing but it wouldn’t be a foo fighters type of thing
I do not think
Nirvana would be a band today if Kurt was still alive.
“Secretly cooking up his own material…”. NO. He was writing songs like he always had, and Kurt didn’t like them as Nirvana songs like ya said at 1:20
I love “Nivrana”
Always loved Nearvana
Love Nivrana!
@@StonerMatt You are forgetting that Kurt was uncomfortable to changing the lyrics to Dave's tunes.
Dave stuff is nowhere near Kurt songs quality. Kurt is a grunge god, Dave is one more making rock/pop rock songs. "New heights" lololol ...
@@MrCroky123 Get over it. Kurt was not that great. Could not sing in tune live, could not play very well. People always say this kind of shit after their death. AIC was far above this band.

-- i see it as how he would still be in the band but had a side project/projects .this is a common thing and he does this often now .
FF would’ve forever been called a nirvana rip off if Kurt was alive. Despite who’s better that’s just what it is
dave would've done stints, like his q.o.t.s.a collabs if kurt was healthier n more humble over things.
Well they never got a drummer like Dave, why compare Dave with others
Dale Crover is awesome but was only there to help with demos.
If Kurt had not died:
Nirvana would’ve ceased to exist after In Utero tour.
Years would’ve gone by and eventually Kurt, Krist and Dave would’ve reunited for an album and tour.
just wondering, what's the song in the background when the video starts/ ends?
Of course he'd have stayed in Nirvana, but he'd still have done Foo Fighters. Dave is a workaholic... Check out his discography, he's been on more albums than most people have even heard songs.
i think they had 1 more album left in them kurt probably would ended up an artist had a quiet life divorced Courtney.
Idk if Kurt was serious or not in an interview encouraging the other members contributing to the music.
Both Dave and Krist were disgruntled after Kurt retroactively removed their royalties from Nevermind and In Utero. That's when Nirvana broke up.
Would dave growl be as popular if Kurt didn't pass away
Nirvana wouldn’t be around today , but if Kurt hadn’t been murdered
I can tell that you obviously did your homework work on retrieving facts about this. Dave soaked it all in like a sponge & knew what to do & what not to do in the music business. Unfortunately Kurt was one sad soul, & it’s extremely sad how it ended for him personally 💔 So, I’m convinced that Dave would have moved on eventually from Nirvana. But he might have not had the success If Nirvana stilled remained a band. Who knows🫤
Well done on this 👍🏻
In reality, Dave was a habitual boundary overstepper, as he was technically a hired drummer and not a founding member.
Plus his last dose of heroin was known as ‘body bag.’
Yeah, he wasn’t long for this world no matter how you slice it.
Agreed. @@ianherron1895
Kurt’s underlying jabs, “Dave showed me the riff, it was SIMPLE, and BONEHEAD, but we’ll work on it”
The band would never have lasted.
All drummers quit nirvana eventually, even I did
He’d be long gone
Yes.....202 likes.....we love Dave..............RIP Kurt........respect Krist
Nirvana or nearvana?
Look like he is trying to imitate Kurt

And😁 I'm a curious girl!
RIP Kurt

nIVRANa IS THE BEST BAND EVERRRRR
There’s only like 100 other videos with this exact info
I think eventually Nirvana would have disbanded and Dave would go off on his own like we know he did.
They definitely would’ve split for a while because Kurt wanted time away the question is would they come back which is the real question
I have never heard it pronounced "near-vana", before.
Kurt didn’t kill himself..just saying
Agreed, I have no doubts personally...
I always saw the singer was the lead guitar from the Beatles
NIVRANA
D.G. knew that Kurt would not last [as most junkies do] and was planning for the rest of his musical career long before the "suicide".
Who's "Nearvana?"
Nirvana was Kurt's creation. I think they would have continued without Dave. When listening in Utero 30 years version and those live gigs the band was not slowing down. I think Kurt had much good music to come if he would have lived.
Kurts Death or Dave Leaves - same result FOOS will born
It hard to predict what could have been 🤔 well id predicted no Dave and Krist my have had a falling out with Kurt because of Courtney but who to say what could have been
Nirvana would have imploded. David would likely have left but not right away. He wanted to make it work, in my opinion.
Yes, this is more like I believe the real vibe was. Not the syrupy sweet feel that everyone put out.
Syrupy sweet!? We're u alive back then? There was nothing sweet being reported upon Nirvana that I recall - it was all negative, all coming to a head, all inevitable, imho

I’m talking about this retro version of history,
Dave and Kurt were best friends,
they lived together ya know
The first 20 songs Dave wrote every body thought was a tribute to Kurt,
that kinda crap I read and hear today from people that weren’t alive when it all happened
The reality was different, like you pointed out, dude was busy pushing everyone away and Dave was getting ready to do something else. Had he not died, I believe things would’ve gotten nasty
Oh I gotcha...nm then...I was wondering..!
We’re a New Grunge band bringing back the big early 90’s sound, check our channel out!
He was going to join the Jamie knievel experience
Who’s nearvana miss narrator?
I think Kurt calling that riff simple and boneheaded gets misread. That’s the way he talked about stuff he liked. It’s how he talked about his own stuff. Nirvana was the epitome of simple and boneheaded music. That was the goal.
She says is Near-vana nor Nirvana.
Kurts the shit - Dave was the drummer.
foo fighters blah
Guess Courtney Love was telling the truth when said “Kurt hated you” on Howard Stern regarding Dave Grohl
What is Nivrana?
I wish I liked the foo fighters
Kurt was way better with writing
More original and raw
Dave’s a great drummer
But this is my tiny opinion
Im pretty sure Mr Cobain would have ended up turning that shotgun on Dave and Courtney many times for riding his coat tails as they both ripped him off and Courtney was f*cking everybody but Kurt
I know this personally
You can change drummers like underwear
What is a "NIVRANA?"
He would have stayed for two or three years longer then left… only the Rolling Stones stay together forever, and even they came and went. Dumb question.
