@@an1tvaw-kp5pm Honestly, yeah. Memes may seem fun for some but I can definitely see Kurt getting sick and tired of that stuff. Not to mention, memes are very offensive nowadays. They’d go against all of his values. So yes, “Kurt’s memes” sounds laughable at best and sacrilege at worst.
He's not resting and he's not in peace. I guarantee that! ONLY the FAITHFUL to the Lord go to Heaven. Junkies and the dregs of humanity don't go to Heaven when they die. Haven't you heard "Lake Of Fire"?
@@kriglum0760 I'm not assuming anything. If you don't live according to the word of GOD then you don't have any hope at all! There is no "better place" or anything else. If you expect that you're going to a reward or have peace or a peaceful existence when you die you are sadly mistaken! We all sinners and Jesus (being the son of God) is the only one that came to this Earth to die for our sins so that we can be saved. Romans 10: 6 But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." So who do you think goes to Heaven and who do you think goes to Hell?! And who is more of an authority of than the one who created everything you know? Who are you to decide?
I remember thinking that about my mom a handful of years ago. She died when i was 14.......by the time I was 29 I had lived longer without her than I had without her. That was a hard pill to swallow. I often think that about people like Kurt. What would time have held for him and those like him?
"It might be nice to start playing acoustic guitars and be thought of as a singer and a songwriter, rather than a grunge rocker you know? Kurt Cobain was one of a kind. And you can quote me on that. He is a very rare type of person indeed. Few people on this planet are like him. One thing a lot of people don’t realise is that he was very introverted and shy. I’m not sure if it was caused by his childhood traumas or if he’s naturally that way. Either way, you can tell from his body language and facial expressions that he gets less comfortable with more people. Lots of rockers, especially punk rockers of his generation like Eddie Vedder, Flea and Billie Joe Armstrong etc are all miles more extroverted and fuelled by rampant, chaotic crowds. The same can be said about his professional rival, Axl Rose. But Kurt, Kurt was a completely different specimen. Yes, his unpredictable stage persona during ‘88-‘91 made him seem like a sociable, confident man, but in all honesty, that was most probably his way of carrying himself and channeling his inner rage through gruelling performances he constantly subjected himself to. However, come to ‘92-‘94, and somethings…off. He isn’t moving around as much. He isn’t really being enthusiastic. And his facial expression is this…unchanging shape of sorrow. The man’s been through the universe, pretty much. It’s all too much to explain. But trust me, he is a person you wouldn’t want to live in the shoes of; it’ll break you in a week. Also, there’s an almost certain chance he was on the spectrum. You don’t have to take my word for it, but if you watch a whole bunch of performances, yes, but ESPECIALLY interviews, the way he interacts with people and talks is so…idiosyncratic. Distinctive. Yes he’s quiet and shy, but also very…not “normal”. On top of that, his humour is very spontaneous, yes, but also very nonsensical. Like, humour only he can understand or comprehend. Things like “twist of lemon” and “shave your head and wear a dress”, definitely have a message or meaning, but they’re also quite random and just happen on a whim. Now I don’t really want to get into drugs, because that is a whole other can of worms. But I will say, being a very troubled individual and consuming substances is guaranteed to completely fry your brain and mess you up, until you are nothing but a hollow shell of sadness. And none of this was his fault. And lastly, socialising can be very hard for some, but imagine the nightmare it must be for Kurt. He was always cast off by others and treated as…pretty much an NPC. Imagine how hard must that be? It’s a good thing he found Krist, an amazing friend. But even he was unable to fill his tortured, lonely soul. Apparently, some other comment describes that during Kurt’s final days, while Krist was trying to bring Kurt to rehab for the greater good of himself, Kurt forcibly exited the car, and ran away from his best buddy, blurting “F*ck you!”. Might just be a rumour, but if true, that’s just heartbreaking. People just don’t seem to see Kurt for who he really is. He’s just a lost boy who had a dream and wanted to show the world his amazing music. But in the process, he became overwhelmed and fell into a terrible rabithole, ending like this. Poor dude.
It matters not now. He's dead and he will always be. Nothing will bring him back - memories, ruminations, reminiscing, or public adulation will change what happened. All you're doing is romanticising a long dead memory of someone that is no longer relevant now. He killed himself and that's that!
@@solarismoon3046 Why are you so sure that Mr. Cobain committed suicide? How come you are so sure that what you are saying are facts? And who romanticizes anyway?

Truth is, nobody could predict what would’ve happened if Cobain never died. He was unpredictable, self destructive, and frankly insane. Even if he lived, would he really be living? Cobain always reminded me of Dead from Mayhem. They seemed like people who just didn’t belong here, didn’t want to belong here.
I used to think that Nirvana was overrated compared to other grunge acts due to the fact that Kurt Cobain passed away at a young age, but the older I’ve gotten the more I have realized that their music has aged the best in comparison to other bands from that era and that they had the highest quality of punk rock for the time. Now I love Nirvana! I feel as though Nirvana faces the same stigma that bands like The Beatles face where people think that just because they’re very well known means that they must be overrated. Rest Easy Kurt, you’re one of the most groundbreaking artists in history.
If he had grown old his music wouldn't have been the same It's what ended him that made him imo That different thing about him that led to amazing good and awful sad
@SalandFindles Guy disassembled his own comment. Lmao "If he didn't die in 1994, he would've 100% died of the same reasons, like 2 years later instead." Makes more sense now. 😆
This feels like a script for something like “once upon a time in Seattle” directed by Quentin Tarantino. But without the happier ending of “Hollywood” which is just more realistic. Great job!
I like this exercise in “What if’s.” Some of us are, indeed, so much more sensitive to pain, regret and heartbreak for this place. It’s exhausting. Nicely done video!
@@PaulFormentos Yeah. We’ll never know, but it’s not like his brain and body were in tip-top shape. Very cool! I published a book on this same "what if" concept last year about the 27 Club. It's called "28." (However, it's speculative fiction; not exactly like this video.) It's always interesting to explore these questions -- great job!
Noticed the omission of "You Know Your Right" in this alternate universe..... I feel like this is a key moment in kurts artistic journey experience and pain

As somebody who is in my 40's now, it amazes me that I"m still alive (with a slew of health issues from all the years of partying/not taking care of myself/using and drinking). I got sober nearly 4 years ago and if I hadn't, I wouldn't still be here that is how bad my health got. You're right. Most people that do hard drugs, don't live into their 40's. Especially now a days with this fentanyl crap going around!
I think Nirvana would have been done by 1995 at the latest if he had lived. It seems like he was starting to get bored of it, and he appeared to be heading in a more blues/folksy sort of direction based on some comments he made. I imagine he would have gone down a solo path a lot like Mark Lanegan did, which would have been really awesome imo. I do think he would have divorced Courtney as well, things were heading in that direction before he died. It's a shame that he left us when he did, because I would have loved to hear were his music went. Some people are just not meant to stick around for a long time though.
I can see Dave Grohl leave Nirvana by 1995 and start his own band. However, I don't know if he'll name it Foo Fighters and I also don't think he'll be writing the same songs we know from Foo Fighters. Some songs of Foo Fighters are inspired by Kurt's death. I think Krist would stay in Nirvana for longer. I get the feeling he'll leave the band between 1997-2003. I noticed Krist seemed to be someone who likes to be a loyal friend of Kurt for as long as he can. Regarding Courtney, I don't think he'll divorce her in 1994. I have a feeling they'll be married for at least five years. At most they'll divorce in 2001. Frances might have gotten a younger sibling. I'm not sure if Kurt wouldn't live past 40. I think he was capable of living longer but it really depends on his life, surroundings, etc. With his drug addictions I do sense that he's prone to die young. I mean, Courtney did save him a few times when he overdosed. He'll need someone to save him when he would get overdosed. Anyway, overall I like what you said.
I can't. The fame of Nirvana would keep him in the band. He would continue to make his own music, but it would just be small side projects, not making any hits.
His rise to fame was not to cause his drug addiction. It was his early childhood, which had lots of issues. He ended up exploring weed, which was his gateway.

It's weird how it's just general knowledge now that Kurt died on April 5, 1994 when it wasn't known to the rest of the world until April 8, 1994. Of course there was no social media back then, but why did it take three days for the media to make an announcement?
Kurt said a few times he thought that Nirvana would become more experimental like Butthole Surfers. Playing off the more textured production of In Utero. That would have played better with some of the electronic elements that became a staple of late 90's music and would continue to grow as an element in all genres of music.
In Utero was the first album that the band released songs where they all worked together, as far as I know. It’s my personal favorite album. Kurt said in an interview that he’d be open to doing something like that more; working together. I would have loved to hear what they all came up with as a band.
I don't know about all these hypothetical situations. But I'm guessing that HAD he lived, rock and roll would have gone down a MUCH more interesting path, and SURELY modern music wouldn't be in the PATHETIC state of rock being DEAD and most people having the taste of a 7th grader.
There is a novel by an author named Lewis Shiner called "Glimpses", came out in 93'. It detailed a guy who time travels back to the late 60s and early 70s to "save" a number of rock stars. Morrison, for example, survives Paris and Pam inly to kill a kid while driving drunk. This video reminded me of that novel. Interesting exercise. I wonder if this sort of speculation says more about the dead rock stars or about us fans. Anyway great video.
Kurt would never have been a “god” if he never would have died. That’s the sad fact far too often is that death creates immortality for the artist. Death sells.
This might sound kinda out of left field but I personally think if Kurt survived weezer and the blue album might not have as big are they are, since Kurt’s death and the dissolution of Nirvana created a little bit of a vacuum in alt-rock which weezer came in at a perfect time to fill, so with Kurt still around and Nirvana still on top while not effecting anything to much I believe the album might have performed a little worse like maybe a spot or two down on the top 100 or something
Interesting post. Id like that add to this, my friend. 👍There were lots of bands that in about '95 were propelled by MTV and record labels as another Nirvana. Everclear, Bush, and lots of others in that vein. The other big bands like Pearl Jam were bowing out of the spotlight, avoiding MTV. Stone Temple Pilots stepped up, and hit the bullseye with the excellent "Purple" album. Soundgarden were a big deal aswell, with a number one album - on the same time Kurt died. Coming from England, Bush didnt really get as big there at all, because mere months after Kurt passed, Oasis became the biggest thing in the UK, ushering in the Britpop era. Post Nirvana bands like Bush didnt catch on asmuch in the UK then, but in America Bush dived into that vacuum as you correctly described, and became huge. Bush wanted to be famous, pose for magazines, etc. The post Grunge bands had a different attitude, that the US media caught onto , promote further and be more accessible than the more reluctant anti heroics of the Seattle giants. Id say too, that Green Day and Offspring layed down a post Grunge era of punk revival that swept up the mainstream after Nirvana. By the end of '94, Green Day were the nxt big thing in the US, and Oasis took over the UK. This happened so instantly right after Kurts passing. I think Weezer, whose debut album I love, would have done just as well if Nirvana had stuck around. They wrote great songs that, people instantly liked. I think those mid 90s bands would have broke out regardless. I do wonder, what Kurt would have thought of the rapidly changing landscape in the mid-late 90s, especially the nu Metal era that carried the 90s out on a totally different wave than what Grunge helped usher in at the decades beginning. Sorry for rambling, but this topic is very interesting to me!👍👍😀😀
@@Bismark1815 Another band that really aimed for the stars after Nirvana was Smashing Pumpkins. 👍 Their debut, "Gish" was released just before Nevermind. That, and its incredible follow up, "Siamese Dream" were lauded and applauded , sending them into the heights that Seattle was shot up to, despite the Pumpkins being in a unique bubble if their own. In 1996, they released a diverse multi-layered Double Album, which was unheard of in the mid90s rock scene. Yet, it made them one of the biggest things in the world that time. They wanted to play arenas, and acknowledge the past Rock gods that, most of their peers downplayed interest in. Billy Corgan raved about Rush and Van Halen, he didnt downplay his wantings to be in a deservingly big band. And it was all going very well, till 1998s "Adore" was a departure of sound that, didnt initially fit with the yet again change of time. By then Korn/Nu Metal was rumbling. I think all the bands that got big leading up to and following Kurts passing would have happened as it did. Scenes change, evolve and can co-exist together. Id love it had Kurt survived, chilled out and lived thru' it all. 👍
Idk it’s a tough call considering this is one of the most unpredictable humans to ever exist, two things I feel confident in though is from 95-97 he was bound to split from Nirvana and divorce Courtney, he then does some solo albums in his early to mid 30’s perhaps then retires. Maybe perfect world he’s done with H and just enjoys time with Frances becomes a full time painter, possibly re marries a woman that was a better influence for him, it’s hard to say what this alternate destiny for Kurt was, unfortunately we’ll never know what it is.
When I wanted to step away from rap during this time, I wanted to listen to other kinds of music and I decided to put on this rock station I came across…I was listening to everything..I was watching MTV to see all the groups and see with new rock bands I could check out. I remember watching Nirvana Heart Shaped Box and fell in love with the video and became an instant fan of Nirvana…then of course I went down the rabbit hole and bought their past albums…Around that time I met my first bf and he got me into other groups but I was still hooked on Kurt…I bought t-shirts, the white glasses, chucks and would just go to school…got called an Oreo many times but I didn’t care… When the news hit about Kurt passing…I was so sad and crying…I felt like I just found gold and now it’s gone…I went out bought a guitar and wanted to learn because of him…taking lessons and just want to learn how to play Nirvana songs…but it definitely took me a while after his passing to listen to any Nirvana albums… I was so into Nirvana/Kurt any project I did in school, any reports, any graphic design projects had to do…all was centered around Kurt and Nirvana… That’s how much I truly enjoyed everything they had done…The band and Kurt definitely took a hold on me and years later I still love and appreciate the good memories I have when I found out about them…Of course we would always love more time but Kurt left his mark and he will never be forgotten.
I was a teenager in the early 90's. I constantly hear modern "artists" name Nirvana as an influence, but I sure as hell rarely hear it in their music! I LOVED the music scene in the 90's. if Cobain was SO MUCH of an influence, why do I find about 95% of the music made in the 21st century to be INTOLERABLE!
Unfortunately, I don't have anything new recorded, but have a wide variety of stuff on my channel from over the years. You're bound to find some stuff with heavy Nirvana influence, as they were the reason I started playing back in 92. There is a Playlist of several recordings, as well as a billion shitty webcam versions of crap I put down just in case I ever decide to record it. I'd start with the Playlist as well as a video called The Waiting Room, which is a compilation of stuff from a few of my bands from the late 90s / early 2000s. On this video, there's a song called Pieces of Rockets' Partners, which has a combination of Radiohead and Nirvana influence between the verses and choruses. There's also a live cover of Drain You somewhere. PS... When I say there's a wide variety, I mean it 😂
@@xxoxia I'm not saying that there's no one playing music out there who's influenced by Nirvana, but it's been a long time since mainstream music has had ANYTHING going on that I'm even vaguely interested in. You still hear people saying that Nirvana influenced them, but there's almost never any evidence of it in their music.
I'm a big fan of Oasis and Nirvana, and it's a shame because Kurt die one week before the Supersonic single release. I would have liked to know Cobain's opinion on the Gallagher brothers and the UK Britpop era in the mid-90s.
It may not be your music genre of choice but you should do a video asking “what if per yngve ohlin aka dead from mayhem never passed away?” I know what a lot of people are thinking right now. “Who is that?” Well Dead is one if not the most prominent figure in black metal music, without him and Mayhem the genre would not be taken as seriously nor would it have the reputation it has earned. Those who know about the genre know what I’m talking about and I think would make a great video.
why would he ever divorce courtney? The only times he ever talked about divorce was during drug fueled rages, he didn't want his daughter to go through the same thing he did. He also wanted to fire dave grohl and fought with Krist during his drug rages, it wasn't really him.

It sounds like you are likely under 45 years old. If you were a teen or in your 20s in the 90s and paid even the slightest amount of attention to English-language rock music, you'd remember just how huge Nirvana was. Instead of Kurt dying, they could've made more music, even really crappy music, and they'd still be important. They already proved themselves with the material they came out with, so it wouldn't matter. Nevermind would still be a huge album of the 90s. It was crazy. I remember moving to Toronto from Vancouver in 1991 and people were telling me they wanted to visit Seattle. It made no sense to me because Vancouver was such a nicer city, yet this whole Nirvana thing was motivating people to travel across the continent to a relatively obscure city. They made catchy tunes that lots of people liked. They were a fresh change to what mainstream rock radio was playing. The Stone Roses are still considered an important band, but they only had 2 albums, then whatever the musicians did after that independent of the band never got the same attention. Anyone who understands 90s alternative rock knows that that band was groundbreaking. And if that's the case, Nirvana all the more. Smells Like Teen Spirit jolted people. Nirvana was selling out concerts all over the place.
@@alukuhito Well, I'm NOT under thirty and Turdvana came out after I was an adult. Nothing that they did was groundbreaking or musically inspiring. I always made fun of them and when I heard them on the radio I turned them off. I still turn them off today. Don't fool yourself - all you're saying is celebrity worship and public adulation. In the next twenty years no one will be talking about them and someone from this modern generation will be the subject of controversy.
@@solarismoon3046 LOL. Maybe YOU weren't inspired by Nirvana, but obviously many people were. Did they need to be "groundbreaking"? Who said so? They weren't hyped up. Their music spoke for itself. Pearl Jam and some other Seattle bands were hyped up. Record companies wanted more Nirvanas, so they did their best to promote the Seattle scene / grunge. In 20 years, if the planet still exists, people will still be listening to Nirvana. They've obviously passed the test of time. They were a short-lived band that ended in the mid-90s, 30 years ago, yet people are for some reason still listening to them. You have your personal taste, but that doesn't mean you need to avoid the reality. I don't like Taylor Swift, but I don't pretend that she's not loved by millions of people. You can blab your opinions all you want, but they're just opinions. Just look up Smells like Teen Spirit on TH-cam, right here. 1.8 billion views. This is for one song from a band that came out before TH-cam was even a thing, let alone the internet as we know it. That's not hype. That's WAY after the fact. That's just people wanting to listen to a song and watch the video.
Liked the alternative narrative that you were creating for Kurt. Interesting to me right now because I'm working on a similar idea, though with a more esoteric and mystical theme... Disappointed your version still ends in tragedy. Disagree that this was inevitable..... Given Kurt was already practicing Buddhism, he might have got clean and dropped out of the music industry all together to follow a spiritual path. He might by now have reinvented himself as an Indie visual artist/musician and TH-cam influencer, speaking about spiritual practices and speaking out on geo political issues, in a similar vein to former addict Russell Brand. Also continuing to support Frances and possibly finding a new partner and having more kids. So I guess this is my cue to get back to my own project....
I do find this slightly unrealistic as kicking addictions can be very difficult and take a bunch of time, but I think this is a very nice dream. I really wish to know what he could've done had a stuck around longer.
I feel like Nirvana would've taken a hiatus in 1994 for Kurt to rejuvenate from extensive touring, and Dave would work on Foo Fighters. In 1997 Nirvana would get back together to make a more stripped back acoustic album with a few rock bangers - kind of like the Led Zeppelin III album. After touring it, maybe an EP would be released and then another hiatus. And maybe a full on reunion of sorts in the mid to late 2000s.
This was crazy... 1st time I saw this... my friend was watching it, I came in late, after he had already started... just doing a few things, while watching, listening... and after a while, I started thinking... that's not what happened!? That's not the year!?✌️🤣
2:13 it's impossible that Dave will create a new band while still around.. He respect his band mates and will never betray them... Dave took a long time to recover from his lost of his friends to started his career over again... And Dave "running away" from music for a long time before made his "come back"... That's a true friendship
Devil advocate. I thought nirvana were overrated and right place right time. However, when I first heard their stuff when I was a teenager it was eye opening. I could see nirvana doing a double album, perhaps an acoustic album. I could see at least one member doing a duet with David Bowie after the unplugged show. I could see them separating or going taking a break and working on solo material before a reunion at some point. I could imagine some or all members getting into producing work in the studio and limiting touring/travelling etc and perhaps release some studio albums (in a similar manner to sgt pepper ie no touring etc or concerts), they could have also done at least one concept album and invited more musicians into the fold (ie piano, organ, twelve string guitar etc). I thought nirvana were overrated but the what ifs etc and what could have been intrigued me, it's a shame we never got more and of course it's a shame a person has passed which affected many people. Opinions are my own. Have a good day reader.
You can see very obvious parallels between Kurt and John Lennon. Early meteoric success, voices of a generation, then disillusionment. Their bands changed the musical landscape, yet were short lived. KC never got to do the solo career, but an album of the “where did you sleep last night?” flavor would have been pretty great. Not a fan of the OD ending tbh. I think Kurt would have made an awesome old dude, maybe he just disappears between 30 and 65, re-emerging to release one more record. No tour. Retires quietly to Washington or even Canada, hangs out with Neill Young, but the end is still tbd.
Two scenarios I could see -He gets clean. Kurt and Courtney split, Nirvana stops touring and Kurt goes into a somewhat hermetic phase living in in his Carnation cabin and focuses just on himself and his daughter. Two or three years go by and Nirvana dissolves officially. He eventually changes his style into a more folksy songwriter. Like a darker Ryan Adams. He has a smaller, cult following of fanatical fans certainly but no longer is a household name and his mental health is better as a result. As he comes into middle age he collaborates with other artists occasionally and maybe even starts producing and is highly sought after and respected, however he chooses his work and public appearances very selectively. -He does not get clean, splits with Courtney. He pretty much lives the next five to ten years on the same trajectory as Layne Staley holed up in his home and making appearances here and again. His health declines and he eventually loses his life to an overdose or complications from IV use. He is certainly remembered as one of the greats but the 27 club/James Dean effect does not apply and his legacy is somewhat tarnished for lack of a better term by the sadness of the state he was in his final years.
I think if he had lived, he would have broken up Nirvana pretty quickly and maybe he would have went off to do smaller side bands. Also, I think he would have divorced Courtney. But again, it's all speculative. RIP.
It just sucks because no matter how much I want to hear new music from him or whatever it won't ever happen, I guess thats bound to happen if someone dies. I wish I could've saw them live but I was born a little too late.
Amazing his physical movements and acting are so natural for a boy who was only 3 or 4 years old on the family recordings. Really, he had. Lot of charism.
I'm glad you accurately portrayed how it is with ppl who are trying to be in recovery.. just because you make it thru rehab once... doesn't mean you're safe. and yeah courtney or someone else would have pulled him back into it and I don't think he would have made it to today. rip K.
This is pretty damn accurate. A great take and very realistic to what if on Cobains life. Why the divorce with Courtney? Was that something that was discussed when he was still living?

Any other well known person I can think of who died before their time, I can imagine a world with them still in it. John lennon, amy winehouse, some certain comedians come to mind, I can picture what they might be doing if they’d lived. But I’ve never been able to imagine a world where kurt cobain didn’t do what he did. He really seemed like one of those people who just didn’t jive with life and was destined to die young. as morbid as that is to say. I can’t picture a sixty year old kurt cobain
@@latenightlogic I don't know shit about Kurt's life as I don't really care but weren't they about to divorce? That's the sole argument the guys saying Kurt was killed have
I couldn’t tell if it was just as a placeholder name or not, but I like the idea of Nirvana breaking up in 1996 naming their final album “The Fourth Album”. I could see that as something they would’ve done
The musical landscape changed just so rapidly in the short sharp time following Kurt's passing. By '94's end, Green Day brought a punk fusion laced with a giddy, fun presentation that caught onto people that wanted a more cheered up sound inthe wake of Kurt's loss. With the restof the Seattle scene either bowing slowly outta the limelight like Pearl Jam, or sadly getting caught up in their own drug drama like Alice in Chains, the media and nxt set of rock fans were responding to a more brighter, outlook. In the UK meanwhile, Oasis became an overnight sensation and the scene totally drifted to a homegrown sound and lifestyle that was the opposite of Grunge in every way. I don't know if Kurts passing cast such a dark shadow that, the more uptempo, colorful direction rock took was a reaction to that, but its interesting to think about. But then, along came Nu Metal, and the mass amount of BoyBands, Britney, etc. Everything changed and reacted even differently again. I always wonder what the Great man himself would have thought of it all, had he lived. Go solo, do some paintings, be a Dad, chill out, hang in there. Come back on his own terms with that acoustic direction he was talking about in '93. Who knows? Id loved to have seen him and Nirvana in the restof the 90s as Oasis, Green Day and bands as diverse as The Prodigy and Korn, Nu Metal took the decade into an entirely new and different tangent on its exit.
It’s a lot of woulda, coulda, shoulda. Honestly Kurt was unpredictable. That’s the only thing anyone would know about the guy from a fans perspective. Kurt Cobain said in his own words Nirvana was in a contract for two more albums. They could’ve got out of that easily. Dave I believe was interviewed by Howard Stern and stated that Kurt loved the Foo Fighters songs and wanted to use them, however, he wanted different lyrics which Dave said he was perfectly fine with because Kurt was always writing lyrics. Kurt Cobain also said in an interview, which I believe was in About A Son, that he can see himself getting involved with t.v. and film. He briefly mentions acting. This also proves my point that Kurt Cobain was wildly unpredictable. This why the man has been diseased since April of 1994. There was no other way his life would’ve turned out. It’s unfortunate but that’s the reality. I’m a huge Nirvana and ZZ Top fan. The way Nirvana the band ended with Cobain’s death actually was a poetic ending. The band lives on forever. ZZ Top’s best days were in the 1970’s and 1980’s. They’re a great band with the best guitarist of all time, however, ZZ Top has not been able to rekindle the magic they had in the late 70’s & 1980’s. ZZ Top has albums since that are a wash. I am still a huge fan and I will still go to concerts to hear all of their music that put them on top in the 1980’s. There’s nothing wrong with that. My point is that Nirvana wasn’t meant to be a band that lived on forever. And they weren’t meant to have albums that wouldn’t have lived up to their heyday’s. It’s great to see reunion tours/shows and that’s all Nirvana fans would have. If Kurt Cobain remained alive to this day I think it would be funny to see Nirvana with a stay in Las Vegas. But it’s just a funny thought. Allow Kurt Cobain to rest in peace and appreciate not just the great work of music he created, appreciate the man who was a child to his parents, a brother, a cousin, an uncle, a father, and a friend to all the people who loved him and really knew him.
I figure his schedule back then would’ve been pretty tight. But since this is an alternate timeline, I just went with it. He was friends with the Nirvana guys, so it makes sense he would’ve been inclined to help out for a brief time.
@@TheMusicNarrative Yeah valid. I remember a few months back I saw another alternative timeline video where Kurt Cobain doesn't die. In that video Dave Grohl leaves Nirvana and I believe it mentioned Dale Crover replacing Dave on drums. So yeah, it does make sense, especially with Dale Crover being good friends with the band
I think they would have released "You Know Your Right" as a single in late 1994 or early 1995 or maybe on an EP along with finished versions of "Poison Gone" and "Do Re Mi" and then they Dave would leave the band anyways to start Foo Fighters
I agree with most of this. I feel like Kurt would become a lot more mellow after rehab, I don't know if he'd release music that soon after though. I feel like You Know Your Right would have been the last Nirvana album released in either 96 or 97. I can definitely see Kurt being a stay-at-home dad occasionally releasing music every now and then. I definitely believe he wouldn't really tour anymore, just some small gigs every now and then, instead dedicating his time to other hobbies. One thing I disagree on is him and Courtney being civil over Frances. I find that hard to believe knowing Courtney's personality.
Really sucks he couldn’t be saved, but I do think Nirvana would have either broken up or probably split off as is explained in this video with them all kinda doing their own things for awhile. They’d still do shows every so often but I think Dave always was bound to create the foo fighters. And Kurt I think would do solo work and collaborations with others, I agree MTV unplugged I think gives us an idea of what he might have been aiming for in the future. Would have been interesting to see how this affected the way Nirvana is remembered and what their music becomes.
IMO none of this would have happened. Kurt and Courtney would not have had a clean divorce. Courtney would have fought him at every step and the custody battle for their daughter would have been ugly. Kurt didn't really like to work with others musicians. There is no way that co writes his solo album with someone else. Yes, he respected Michael Stipe. No, he wouldn't give up any creative control. Kurt had other issues beyond his addiction. A drug free Kurt would still battle his personal demons. He was self medicating with hard drugs.
Probably wood have turned into REM in the mid to late 90s. Then Nirvana break up. Ten year break then reunion tour and odd patchy album every ten years. People would be saying “I prefer their old stuff.”
Drugs didn’t kill Kurt - Courtney did. Check out American Spy Fox’s Nirvana series. Also recommend reading “Love and Death” for the chapter on drug tolerance vs the amount of heroin Kurt had in his system when he was killed. It’s physically impossible that it was suicide. He was drugged and then shot. The suicide note is an obvious forgery, and Courtney’s own lawyer found a practice sheet in her bag indicating that she had been practicing faking Kurt’s handwriting. He was in the process of getting a divorce and writing Courtney out of his will when he died. Cool thought experiment though!
Every single word you have said has been utterly debunked multiple times and is complete nonsense. You have fallen for a wife beating scammer. Well done, idiot.
Worth bearing in mind, of course, all evidence suggests Kurt was murdered, eg: - the alleged suicide note makes no reference to suicide, except the last few sentences, which appears in larger writing in seemingly different handwriting - the private detective, Tom Grant, whom Courtney Love hired to 'search' for Kurt, was provided curious items Courtney's lawyer found in Courtney's handbag which was left at the lawyer's house: - a handwriting practice pad, and - a note in Courtney notebook with the reminder to "get arrested"; coincidentally, in what would seem a perfect alibi, on the evening of Kurt's death, Courtney was arrested in Los Angeles - the amount of heroin found in Kurt's body was ~5 times the fatal limit: - as Grant said, he's not aware of any overdose in history in which an individual with such a high level of heroin didn't die instantly; let alone, as reported, have enough time to apparently, neatly pack away the associated heroin kit (for some reason), cock the shotgun and shoot - Kurt's credit card was used after the alleged suicide - Kurt and Courtney's lawyer told Grant Kurt had claimed he was divorcing Courtney and Kurt had planned to change the will - the same lawyer also claims Courtney asked her to find the "meanest and nastiest divorce attorney in town" - when Kurt was reported missing, Courtney asked Kurt's friend to visit the house to look for him; not finding Kurt in the main house and reporting to Courtney, Courtney soon after called a security company to install cameras in the exterior non-attached dwelling as "a matter of priority"; it was that installer who found Kurt's body in that location - for these and other reasons, Grant has maintained since 1993 that "Kurt was murdered with one hundred per cent certainty"
Speaking of, when I first got into music, I was heavy into Nirvana and I still quite enjoy their music. I remember being an absolute Kurt Cobain fan, and I memorized his birth date and death date. I noticed something interesting, though. I remember his death date being May 5 of 1994, and the only reason I know I absolutely know it is because it’s a month after my birthday, and I remember making the connection between May 5 (5th month and 5th day) and the year 1994 because five goes after four, which is obvious but Duh that’s how I used it to remember the date. I don’t necessarily believe in the Mandela Effect, but I do believe energy is in constant motion, there is no one singular timeline, and things are as they are because that’s how they are, but the universe must contradict itself to exist. So basically, some alternate timeline type shit. But my question is why? It’s literally one month off.
I don't see the Cobain comparison to John Lennon, but then again I've never gone down that rabbit hole, BUT it is weird that they were both murdered ! I remember EXACTLY where I was when I heard the news. I was at Bedrock Records in San Rafael looking at CD's when Barry, the owner, told me that he just heard it on the radio.
Alternate ending: Kurt makes it to 2024, and now runs a meme account

Poor dude.
People just don't see Kurt for who he really is. That's why you see it clearly, right?
It matters not now. He's dead and he will always be. Nothing will bring him back - memories, ruminations, reminiscing, or public adulation will change what happened. All you're doing is romanticising a long dead memory of someone that is no longer relevant now. He killed himself and that's that!

I used to think that Nirvana was overrated compared to other grunge acts due to the fact that Kurt Cobain passed away at a young age, but the older I’ve gotten the more I have realized that their music has aged the best in comparison to other bands from that era and that they had the highest quality of punk rock for the time. It's weird how it's just general knowledge now that Kurt died on April 5, 1994 when it wasn't known to the rest of the world until April 8, 1994. Of course there was no social media back then, but why did it take three days for the media to make an announcement?
It wasn’t until the 8th that he was found deceased.
Kurt said a few times he thought that Nirvana would become more experimental like Butthole Surfers. Playing off the more textured production of In Utero. That would have played better with some of the electronic elements that became a staple of late 90's music and would continue to grow as an element in all genres of music.
Then music wouldn't suck as much, he'd be happy and Courtney wouldn't have all of his money. Maybe.
That would be nice
In Utero was the first album that the band released songs where they all worked together, as far as I know. It’s my personal favorite album. great video but i noticed that pat smear wasn’t rly mentioned in the video. would’ve loved to hear abt him as well.
All we have left are these fantasies, the body of work, and our love of a man we never met.

Kurt would never have been a “god” if he never would have died. That’s the sad fact far too often is that death creates immortality for the artist. Death sells.
Aww your little fan fiction is cute... I like it
This might sound kinda out of left field but I personally think if Kurt survived weezer and the blue album might not have as big are they are, since Kurt’s death and the dissolution of Nirvana created a little bit of a vacuum in alt-rock which weezer came in at a perfect time to fill, so with Kurt still around and Nirvana still on top while not effecting anything to much I believe the album might have performed a little worse like maybe a spot or two down on the top 100 or something
Sorry for rambling, but this topic is very interesting to me!👍👍😀😀
@@kylereece1979 oh don’t be that was very impressive
I think all of these bands would’ve co-existed. There’s never just one sound that dominates mainstream.
@@kylereece1979 Those people were only giants in their minds. And when reality sunk in they went away quietly or killed themselves.

I remember watching Nirvana Heart Shaped Box and fell in love with the video and became an instant fan of Nirvana…then of course I went down the rabbit hole and bought their past albums…Around that time I met my first bf and he got me into other groups but I was still hooked on Kurt…I bought t-shirts, the white glasses, chucks and would just go to school…got called an Oreo many times but I didn’t care…
When the news hit about Kurt passing…I was so sad and crying…I felt like I just found gold and now it’s gone…I went out bought a guitar and wanted to learn because of him…taking lessons and just want to learn how to play Nirvana songs…but it definitely took me a while after his passing to listen to any Nirvana albums… I was so into Nirvana/Kurt any project I did in school, any reports, any graphic design projects had to do…all was centered around Kurt and Nirvana… That’s how much I truly enjoyed everything they had done…The band and Kurt definitely took a hold on me and years later I still love and appreciate the good memories I have when I found out about them…Of course we would always love more time but Kurt left his mark and he will never be forgotten.
I dreamt of an older Kurdt omce a couple years back...he looked like an Allman Brother, and was playing acoustic...it made me sad when I woke up...
EXACTLY
@@CaddRome It's just something people say, right?!? WHERE is this influence?
@@HeelSection3825 I cant say for sure..
Most people under 30 these days are either fans of rap or UNFORTUNATELY, pop?!? What gets called rock tends to sound more like an ad for something than an actual song.
He would have become a highly sought after producer and collaborator.
Why did I just get this video. Good job
It’s so sad a man with such talent just end his line.
why would he ever divorce courtney? The only times he ever talked about divorce was during drug fueled rages, he didn't want his daughter to go through the same thing he did. He also wanted to fire dave grohl and fought with Krist during his drug rages, it wasn't really him.
If he didn't die Nirvana wouldn't be considered an important band. Nevermind wouldn't be the album of the 90s. The Nirvana logo wouldn't be sold on t shirts at Forever 21.
That dosnt make sense.
@@ZanePrice-hd5gji think it does
Kurt became a legend because of his death
If kurt lived i think he would just be one of the most influential but not the guy who gets praise as the voice of his generation
They were the most hyped up band at that time because they made shitty music and were new faces on the block. If they dressed like everyone else at that time and sounded like them they wouldn't have been so hyped up in the mainstream media. I don't see the appeal. I didn't then and I don't know.
He would have collaborated with Michael Stipe writing the type of music he was ashamed of he loved because of the sound of Nirvana
There are some I just could never imagine old.
And maybe a full on reunion of sorts in the mid to late 2000s.
lolz
This was crazy... 1st time I saw this... my friend was watching it, I came in late, after he had already started... just doing a few things, while watching, listening... and after a while, I started thinking... that's not what happened!? That's not the year!?✌️🤣
2:13 it's impossible that Dave will create a new band while still around.. He respect his band mates and will never betray them...
Dave took a long time to recover from his lost of his friends to started his career over again... And Dave "running away" from music for a long time before made his "come back"... That's a true friendship
This makes me so sad. I just wish he could have lived. He was such an unbelievable talent.
Two scenarios I could see
-He gets clean.
What are they tuning, a harp?
Kurt, alot has been said about, but he was the anti -hero put in star aligned to be the voice of '91. But he shunned mainstream tendencies.

Kurt asked their lawyer Rosemary to file divorce papers a month before he was killed. Watch "Soaked in Bleach" AND AmericanSpyFox.
I believe it was brought up by people close to them that towards the end of his life their relationship was pretty strained to the say the least. Not sure if the word 'divorce' was actually used but it seemed to be heading that way.

UK gen x grew up with some of the same influences as USA gen x
I’d love to see you do one of these on Andrew Wood and Mother Love Bone xx
You know its bad when even the what if has a bad ending
That's a VERY plausible conterfactual story of Kurt!!
Why did you choose Dale Crover to be Foo Fighters temporary drummer in this timeline. Do you think he was free back then to do that?
I figure his schedule back then would’ve been pretty tight. But since this is an alternate timeline, I just went with it. He was friends with the Nirvana guys, so it makes sense he would’ve been inclined to help out for a brief time.
@@TheMusicNarrative Yeah valid. I remember a few months back I saw another alternative timeline video where Kurt Cobain doesn't die. Dale played drums on three songs on Bleach and did a short tour with Nirvana before Buzz hooked them up with Dave.@@therocknrollgamer9572
I love this!

One thing that would definetly sound different is FF's debut album
Probably wood have turned into REM in the mid to late 90s. Then Nirvana break up. Ten year break then reunion tour and odd patchy album every ten years. People would be saying “I prefer their old stuff.”
As stewie griffin said “Hagen daaz”
Nice video, you didn't really explain what happened to Pat smear though?
I’d assume he was playing guitar for foo fighters
His wife got him killed. She should be rotting in jail.
Worth bearing in mind, of course, all evidence suggests Kurt was murdered, eg:
- the alleged suicide note makes no reference to suicide, except the last few sentences, which appears in larger writing in seemingly different handwriting
- the private detective, Tom Grant, whom Courtney Love hired to 'search' for Kurt, was provided curious items Courtney's lawyer found in Courtney's handbag which was left at the lawyer's house:
- a handwriting practice pad, and
- a note in Courtney notebook with the reminder to "get arrested"; coincidentally, in what would seem a perfect alibi, on the evening of Kurt's death, Courtney was arrested in Los Angeles
- the amount of heroin found in Kurt's body was ~5 times the fatal limit:
- as Grant said, he's not aware of any overdose in history in which an individual with such a high level of heroin didn't die instantly; let alone, as reported, have enough time to apparently, neatly pack away the associated heroin kit (for some reason), cock the shotgun and shoot
- Kurt's credit card was used after the alleged suicide
- Kurt and Courtney's lawyer told Grant Kurt had claimed he was divorcing Courtney and Kurt had planned to change the will
- the same lawyer also claims Courtney asked her to find the "meanest and nastiest divorce attorney in town"
- when Kurt was reported missing, Courtney asked Kurt's friend to visit the house to look for him; not finding Kurt in the main house and reporting to Courtney, Courtney soon after called a security company to install cameras in the exterior non-attached dwelling as "a matter of priority"; it was that installer who found Kurt's body in that location
- for these and other reasons, Grant has maintained since 1993 that "Kurt was murdered with one hundred per cent certainty"
he would have become sponsored by Häagen-Dazs
He would do an acoustic solo album, slower less rocky stuff I think
Do one for Bradley Nowell.
