There is no "had johnny waited" during the 2013 rescue attempt. It's either false selfblame or another memory fake by arasaka. It was the arasaka guy behind her kidnapping, who unplugged her in the source story n since the books all remain canon...
Meredith's caught me so off guard when I first did it, it had me laughing so hard. I had COMPLETELY misunderstood the text conversation and thought we were going to be doing biz for Meredith, and I was a corpo V so I thought I'd try it out. When I walked into the room and saw her in a very different suit than before I stopped, looked at the texts again, and realized how tiny my brain was
Too be fair the first time I experienced it was not knowing there were different outcomes for the all foods mission. Honestly thought she was gonna try and kill me or have an ambush waiting.
@@khele2k The easiest way to make sure to get her arc is to use the cred chip to buy the bot without telling royce about the virus. Then she should message you in act 2. Edit: Thats how I always play that mission and get her scene every time.
Since it was mentioned in the Basilisk scene part, having your clothes immediately after the sex scene without being it clear when you dressed again was not always the case. Back in the early days of early post-release Cyberpunk 2077 before the first significant patches, the game removed your clothes for the scene by automatically unequipping them. I did not know this. That was also not the case for Panam, who came out fully dressed as normal. So after the Rafen are repelled, we come out of the tank and I follow the scene normally but I couldn't remember if I still had a certain weapon or something like that so I clicked to enter my inventory... and saw my V naked as the day he was born. I was hanging dong in front of the entire Aldecaldo Clan. I think I was laughing for a solid ten to fifteen minutes.
Same! The first playthrough that happened and i played for quite awhile after before i opened my inventory to check something new i picked up and got flashbanged
Panam is definitely something else. In a world where everybody uses everybody, even abusing V to a point, she gives him twice as much as she receives; that family feeling that V never had. She is always unconditional, loyal to the bones, when it matters, where it matters.
she feels great as a friend as well, having only gone through on a female V. just.. the aldecaldos in general. I'd done hours and hours of side gigs before doing Panam's quests, dealing with some of the worst scum in Night City, seeing people treat each other like garbage.Then my V walked into the Aldecaldo camp with Panam for the first time, and despite her technically being an outcast, everyone was happy to see her and concerned about her wellbeing, offering what help they could without compromising their own wellbeing. It was shocking to me in that moment when I'd been so immersed in how awful a place Night City was to suddenly be reminded that healthy human interactions were still a thing that existed in this world. it was a powerful moment to me that I won't forget.
@@Keira_Blackstone I had exactly the same feeling when I played as female V. I chose the Devil's ending and when I was at the space station getting ready for my surgery and received those messages from Earth from all the people I knew, Panam's was the one that I felt most honest and sincere, inviting me to join her and the Aldecaldo's more like a family that would receive me with open arms, while Judy's, having had a love story with me, was cold and felt forced.
@rubenlopezusa If you're referring to their respective voicemails in the credits, I'm kinda willing to give Judy a bit of a pass in that instance. The Devil ending reuses the same voicemails as the Sun ending, which makes all the characters' reactions rather inconsistent in this ending compared to when V calls them. I'll use River as an example. V calls him in this ending, and this man is panicking trying to find out which orbital station V is on to rescue her, yet when you hit the credits he's more concerned with the next get-together with his family rather than saving V. Judy's voicemail makes sense in the Sun ending considering what happens to the relationship there, but the Devil ending doesn't really match up too well situationally, especially if V goes into Mikoshi. It's clearly a case of CDPR getting lazy. If you're looking for warmer, more caring reactions, the other endings definitely provide that, especially Star. Although I'd argue Path of Least Resistance shows you exactly how much Judy cares.

I think the day after you guys “do it” and the actual scene itself are actually really good and the scene in the morning is cute imo! I just wish he was fleshed out more like I agree he’s at the bottom but I still like him
One of the best & most disturbing quests/missions in any game ever made. Testament to CDPR's creative genius. Played through the game 3x & the whole rescue mission, learning about who "Peter Pan" is & what he's doing still left me shaken on the 3rd visit. No interest in forming any partnership with River just not that interesting.

I think it's really unfair when people bring up the fact that Judy doesn't do anything for V while Panam does. There's a giant difference in ability between the two. Panam has years of combat experience, an arsenal of weapons and tech (including a tank now), and an army of nomads at her beck and call. Judy has a few guns and that's it. She can help with a little Scavs base, but they're ants compared to Night Corp, Arasaka soldiers, and especially Adam Smasher. Judy just can't do the thing Panam can and that's fine. I think being the biggest reason V has to find a cure and make back in one piece is more than enough. No greater motivator to live than to have someone to live for.
@@awwwshucks443 I would say you're wrong there, but you have to do a bit of snooping around her apartment to tell. She started doing loads of research into biochips, personality engrams, and trying to work out ways to save V herself.
@@snakeman830 But it's not implemented as any kind of gameplay, and I mean quests. Judy's romance feels underwhelming or even underdeveloped. While V gets involved into Judy's life a lot, Judy isn't involved in V's life (except the fact of the romance itself). I mean Judy is a loner, she doesn't have a fellow gang to help V with biz (Judy doesn't have any authority in Moxes), she's not a netrunner, she's more like a simple civilian person. But I really wish there was an opportunity to somehow get Judy onboard with helping V's problem. It would make Judy romance so much more wholesome and authentic.
In the missions I've done so far Panam was throwing red flags by blowing up power stations and getting in a bunch of people killed due to some kind of crossed lover situation with, I think, the leader of her old group. She stayed back pinking people with a rifle and then, for some reason, invited a huge group of bikers to save me at a gas station after I'd killed all of the enemies. Still not sure why she needed the gang there or why they didn't come help with the actual mission.
@@ghs57 Lol all of the characters in the game are red flags. An answer to the OP is that in all of the endings, it's clear that Judy's life it outside of NC. Panam will accomodate hers to fit V. In fact insists that V is part of the Aldecaldos family. As a male V you feel it's due to romance, as a female V you feel that it's so that you don't have to die alone and for both of them, to never quit. Judy doesn't have the answers, but she sure as hell have strong motives to stay alone. In one of the endings she literally hints that NC is too much for her and doesn't want to stay around until V switches completely...and that's as a romance, for male V she's cool in sending a postcard at best. Come on..there's no comparison which out of the 2 is more willing to stay committed.
The potential chemistry between V and Judy can be seen in Act 1 in their very first meeting if V has a high enough tech score. The interaction is platonic, but aTech Saavy V and Judy briefly nerding out about Judy's custom set-up is something Evelyn heavily dislikes. Especially since immediately before this, Evelyn was attempting to compartmentalize her life and make V more standoffish towards Judy. While Judy's quest chain is a bit out of the way, it also acts as a good character moment for a V recovering from The Heist.
It also appears that a lot of people missed that you can flirt with her from that very same first encounter lol, after you’re done with the bd and Evelyn tells you two need to talk, before leaving you can go say actual goodbyes in two ways to Judy and the flirty lines go V-thx for the help it was nice meeting you Judy… and huh I hope I’ll see you again J- depends 😏 V- on what 🤭 J-if you’re alone or someone is tagging along.. like a netrunner V-haha not netrunner next time I promise So clearly the attraction can be there from the get go especially if like you said you nerded it out on the first dialogue with her
@@MandalorianRevan That's a very interesting observation. I never took Evelyn's words before and after meeting Judy as malice or intention to create separation. She warns us about Judy's sharp personality and general dislike for people, and then tries to move the conversation along when V and Judy get distracted. I totally see where you're coming from though, in hindsight Evelyn's actions do seem like she is trying to keep us out of her and Judy's personal relationship. I think Judy's quest starts very naturally. It's a bridge from The Heist and, in my opinion, when I first played through the game I thought finding Evelyn would be the best option for V's survival. After that, well, you know what happens. It's a motivating connection to Judy's interests in shifting leadership at Clouds. After you learn about what happens to Evie and meet that awful man, how could you not want to do something about it?
There was a mod in the works that basically made judy bi using a bunch of cut dialogue. Along with swapping out character models with existing animations. I have no idea if it was ever finished since I haven't played cyberpunk in a while

Im genuinely unsurprised at Kerry and River being at the bottom. River has too little build-up and virtually no good endings regardless of the path you take. And Kerrys is cute, but if you're being real, Kerry only likes Male V because we remind him of Johnny, and we're more or less his "hot new input" that motivates his next era of music.
@@venveng I mean, that's your opinion, but V is a grown, and both are consenting adults. Regardless, with how much tech he likely appears to use to keep his *very handsome* appearance, I doubt it feels like V is with an old man. Cyberpunk is a universe where humans with the right tech can live for 100+ years, old age seems like something that doesn't factor in as long as you have money(which Kerry has in the boatloads)
I agree that rivers character needed more build up but the the sun isn’t too bad for him. I feel like the sun is good for the male romances and the star is better for the girls, all the other endings are either awful for romances from what I remember
No competition, by far the best ending. Even tho we don’t really know what happens to V, that ending gives off a feeling of hope that the others don’t. And you also get to take Judy away from the city so even if V does die, she can hopefully start a new life easier.
I think its male V leaving with the Aldecaldos with romanced Panam, it just makes the ending scene so much more wholesome that V and Panam are not in each others arms as friends but as lovers and V is riding off into the sunset with the girl he loves, picture perfect and probs unrealistic end for most in Night City but I think thats what makes male V Aldecaldos ending with Panam as the main romance option my fav ending by a mile
To me one of the cuter but more low key romance moments is after you first meet Judy you can have V very awkwardly approach Judy and express interest in seeing her again. Given who V becomes later it is almost adorable to see her being almost shy and not exactly confident when approaching Judy and expressing her interest.
Judy's diving scene is just the best date anyone can wish for, well, besides the relic malfunction. And little fun side note, with the tactical diving suit from PL, you can go back to Laguna Bend on your own.
I generally think Kerry is the best. Because after your 3 year coma, he actually trying to meet up with you. Even when you tell the other 3 whats about to happen…. He is like the best.

Panam is my favorite. She's just so ride or die and I was legit heartbroken at the phantom liberty ending when you romance her. She tries to find you for years. You just dont get that kind of commitment from anyone else in the game. I honestly think if Panam cant save you in the nomad ending, she would never be the same.
With Judy it feels very realistic how it all builds up. Its kinda like the „i can fix her“ meme just that you do. Panam is more like someone that will help you because you helped her. I like both and put both on my first place.
I'd still rate it the lower end but River's romance its probably the more realistic scenario. No fancy hotels, no battle tanks. A convenient bed at a house he's staying at, being as quiet as possible to have a night of something other than the depressing situation you both are in. I'd say that sort of fling/encounter has been experienced by a fair few people.
I just really wanna say, that hearing Sam talk about Cyber Punk again feels nostalgic, but great. From the listening to vids while I’m doing regular day things to the days of me playing through the bugs in the game and still enjoying it very much so, being psyched for the new and upcoming patches, watching edge runners with my brothers, getting really immersed into the game more so with the dlc after being so heavily invested. Felt like a CP renaissance.
Honestly, Panam's character development is one of the best I've ever seen in a videogame in decades of gaming. I've replayed the ending a number of times, and each time, I tear up a little, hoping V makes it...
Judy's my favorite. If I remember correctly, we can sprinkle in a bit of affection/flirting early on, but we're not forced to. We then reconnect with her for good reasons and the growing relationship could be played as platonic or romantic. Right until the end it depends on the player which way it will go. Playing her whole story never felt awkward even with a female V that doesn't romance her, but at the same time totally made sense with a V that does romance her. Meanwhile, Panam's snuggling up to V even if I want nothing from her (admittedly I just don't like her much). I like River, but romancing him requires a lot of headcanon/ rp "work". Kerry was fun, but he's also just, I'm sorry, a bit of an idiot. I think Judy's reaction to any of the endings also just makes sense and feels in character.
I do think people underrate V(incent) and Kerry's relationship a fair bit, despite how it comes too late in the game, it's my 2nd favourite Love Story in 2077, and my go-to LI for Vincent. Much like V(alerie)/Judy, their relationship is also built out of mutual circumstances. Whereas that relationship is built up from the ashes of the pain from the Heist, this one is built out of their mutual fear: not feeling as if they didn't matter in the world, that they would be forgotten and didn't make a name for themselves against Night City. But both are able to have mutual understanding out of that fear. People say that Kerry is using V for Johnny, but that notion is immediately dispelled by the fact that Kerry keeps talking of Johnny in the past tense, post-Samurai gig. Boat Drinks especially is more of how he misses Johnny, but he's ready to move on, away from mourning what could have been. Kerry loves Vincent for who he is as an individual person, not who he reminds him of. There is also the age gap, which I understand why people would be apprehensive, but Kerry acts more in his mid-30s and treats V as an equal. He wants to communicate with V, wants to hear how his life is, what his condition is like at the moment. He's the only LI in the Sun Ending that is on a equal playing field in understanding V’s ambitions and goals in going out in a Blaze of Glory. I have no doubt that post-Tower Ending, he does reunite with V and wants to rebuild that relationship.
I totally agree with you. The only problem is that it lacked dialog, he doesn't react to the relationship like others do. Which is a pity because the texts are very funny and the voice actor delivers the scenes really well. The fact that we can only talk about Boat Drinks when V doesn't have a relationship with him bothers me.
TL;DR -- I love Kerry. 100% agree. I was searching through these comments specifically for a proper defense of the Kerry romance. So thank you for being that voice! I wanna jump in with my own comment too--in case other people wanna dive into the Kerry appreciation. I'm disappointed that the common interpretation of Kerry's interest in V(incent) is rooted solely in his infatuation with Johnny. I think it's pretty clear, as you said, that he is ready to move on by the final two romance quests. As Kerry said in Boat Drinks, "Loop Completion" had come--and it was time to move forward--he achieved closure. I think V is the person he chooses to move forward with for many of the reasons you outline, and because V is genuine and honest with Kerry--he also helped him out on this journey and even if Johnny led V to Kerry initially, V chose to stay--and he "could have walked away at any moment." Because of the official statement on the psychological impact Johnny being in V's head has on Kerry's romantic *preference* for male V, I think Kerry also clearly demonstrates an obvious preference for men throughout the game... but that aside while Kerry might *initially* be interested in calling on V because of his connection to Johnny--he quickly understands that Johnny is merely a passenger in V's head, and not actually "there." To add to the mutual understanding you mentioned, I think V and Kerry could also bond over the way Johnny cemented his existence in their minds (literally and figuratively "would rip him outta my head if i could" - "think i know the feeling" moment) and made a profound impact on them both, and this connection to Johnny is something that both Kerry and V would ultimately mourn the loss of. At least I truly felt like I was mourning the loss of Johnny--and that V clearly also loved him by the end--albeit not romantically but as his only true friend. Also agree with your sense of the endings--people's feelings over time can change, and by the end in Sun, Kerry says he doesn't feel really *anything* about Johnny anymore, that he only has a new space to fill with someone special (that being V), and in the Tower he's the *only* love interest to not only answer V, but offers help, and says he'll be back after his tour--so I do agree that he does seem interested in rebuilding the relationship. In the ending where Johnny takes V's body, you get an upset Kerry explaining that he's been dumped by boyfriends in some shitty ways, but this takes the cake, ending it with: "I guess you really are one of a kind after all." The regard he has for V is made clear even in the more bad romance endings... where Kerry clearly just feels foolish for believing he found someone truly different, someone special that he could rely on in this lonely and defeating world. I think the nuance of Kerry's character and his relationship with V suffers from obvious lack of content compared to characters like Judy and Panam coupled with his late introduction in the game (which means limited development time). Therefore, I can understand why people might jump to the conclusion that he's finally getting Johnny through V--and write off many of his behaviors as those he believes he should take on to impress Johnny. But I think that these conclusions fundamentally ignore things Kerry directly states, growth he does exhibit (even it is fast-paced/rushed), and the fact that he has demonstrated moments of complete honesty and vulnerability with V. IMO Kerry is the most underrated romance option in the game, but the lack of content from the developers isn't doing him any favors in this regard... nonetheless, he is my favorite. Just wish the devs gave him a bit more love so he could have really shined like the rockstar he is.
My favorite is Judy and i love how you can make a Chinatown reference before romancing her and . I'm not into the Kerry romance but i love his side quests specially playing "Boat Drinks " before meeting Hanako feels just right i do it every playthrough , i head cannon it as V putting off meeting Hanako until this quest because Kerry talks about new beginnings and encourages V accidentally to face their new beginning in the endings because all of them put a close to this chapter in V's life and start their new journey as a Nomad , an Ai , an NC legend or an NPC in the tower
Rivers entire quest line moves way, way too fast for me. Really feels like they rushed him. We do one mission together, and he already trusts me enough to bring me to his sister's home and tell me about his missing nephew? Then we romance him after just two jobs together? Judy forever.

I've only seen Judy to the point that we rescued Evelyn and she's flirted with V evey time they've met. Even with a comatose Evelyn laying next to her.

Honestly, still wish we could have romance Songbird!! Does she lie? Yes, but she just wanted to survive and be free from everyone, and honestly wasn't surprised that she lied that there was only 1 cure and she would use it, but after hearing her story and history I was sold to go full songbird ending. And also when u meet in the club, her in that hot green dress absolutely melted me🥵😅
They say it was supposed to be like a spy thriller. I guess they miss the part about spicy encounters or bedroom distraction tactics that permeate the genre being one of the big draws. That's on reason why classic Bond is so awesome

I’ll always vouch for Kerry over Panam and the Tower ending cemented that for me. Such a charming character and the extra layer with Johnny just makes it more appealing. Female V just gets the short stick in every way except when playing the Star ending with Judy.
I get why people love Panam over Judy, but Judy is easily my Absolute Favorite romance option from the Scuba Diving Hangout and Love scene after it. Not to mention how well written & emotional it is & also the cute Texts & nickname she gives FemV AHHHH it’s so cute it warms my heart. I just love how Judy’s Romance is my absolute favorite in all of Gaming from how realistic it is & how emotional it gets plus actually going on a hangout/Scuba Diving Date, AHHH IT’S SO CUTE!
Judy is my favorite character out of all video games ever. She is so well developed and such a good person living a tough life. But despite her troubles she just wants to keep trying, keep being a decent soul, and has a cool intelligent vibe to go with her sexy looks. All the scenes and music related to her are incredible. I find Panam, while a good person, has excessive attitude that gets in the way.

The worst thing about Cyberpunk is that the Max-Tac outfit is gender locked to a female V and is only available after romancing Judy. You’d think that it would drop from defeating Max-Tac but no.
True, they should've made the max tac suit available to male V as well, just have Judy gift it to him before she leaves the city after completing her side quest. I think that would've made sense since she clearly cares about V even without a romance.
The thing that threw me with the Stout one was the line about seeing more of her Ink, when to my eye you couldn't see any in the first place and I can't even recall in the cutscene if she had any notable tattoos.
Without a doubt Judy is #1. Considering that I have played the game in several playthroughs as Valarie and decided to play as Vincent to have different romance options, it just didnt hit the same. Judy is a co-dependant type of person which makes her… somewhat clingy, making the feeling of being alone in NC a bit more bearable. Since Judy has lost many in NC, having her as a partner seems like shes more worried or making sure you are okay (at least through missions as it goes on and beginning of the dating). Panam is the type to do what she wants, is fast to jump conclusions and constantly busy with the Aldecaldos so you dont see her much or hear her saying any cute romance words much. Now dont get me wrong, I know theres probably tons of people who are okay with that, but I too, want some love and affection every now and then. I guess what im saying is Judy is more open into sharing her affection while Panam is more reserved. So its really up to people who they like more. Mines Judy 😁.

I feel like i'm the only one who doesn't like pan am because i'm not a teenage boy. She's hot-headed. Stubborn doesn't learn from her mistakes, and then somehow all that gets hurt to be a co leader of her clan? She's like 25 and makes decsion based on erratic emotions but somehow that makes sense. Also, her response in the new ending is not on brand.
And if you do the "end yourself" ending, she gets mad and says "how dare you after everything I have done for you" when she has done nothing for me lol
This so much. Panam's hot headed attitude thing is my main issue with her. I've was in a relationship with a girl like her for three years in my early 20s. Good looks and any likable personality traits get heavily damaged by that attitude hotheaded thing. For me it was a lesson learned 'never date a girl like that again'. And soon after that ended I actually found my real life version of Judy. Been together 15 years now. Grateful for her.
35:39 ive played this game an embarrassing amount of time so i disagree with this. if you talk to Judy after the intro BD (its optional conversation, you have to go up to her) there is some flirtation about them seeing each other again. i do agree generally with your point for sure but thought i should point it out.
My first playthrough i was with judy, got her heartbreaking ending which made me have a lot of emotion for this game. I got the most rollercoaster, but rewarding ending imo. (Because you could see Judy really really cares) Got me hooked for another 7 different playthrough and im on my 8th right now 💯
I refuse to ever do the River romance. He's just really creepy to me, and the whole dinner scene where he and his adoptive family essentially back you into a corner really irked me. Then despite V looking frazzled and refusing to answer them, he does it AGAIN on the water tower. Just feels very manipulative and controlling to me, like bro, take a hint. Doesn't help that whenever I see him i get flashbacks to the farmhouse either.

@@dranixrush3306 I will ignore your condescending remark at the end of the comment and just explain MY feelings on the matter. You went through something traumatic with River, not the family. The family BARELY knows you and they're already trying to push you and river together (which to me suggests that river led them to believe you were closer than you actually were). I'm surprised you can't see that the whole dinner was designed to get river in your pants, and to do that after one of the most traumatizing quests is just insane to me. It's wildly unnatural and feels manufactured, and besides, before this dinner there was NO spark or even a tiny hint of a romantic connection, he springs it on you out of nowhere.

Everything was completely innocent and even if he suggested to his family to get the ball rolling, though a LITTLE weird isn't anything to worry about. V is a beautiful young woman, and River is a handsome young man and both had a connection that the family sees. Not neccesarily romantic, but something. So people will tease and prodd. V' does develop a connection with the family here and there through conversations and helping them get a family member back. There is a foundation. I know this makes you uncomfortable, but there is nothing wrong going on here.
I personally prefer Judy’s romance, though I also love Panam. Fortunately, they’re mutually exclusive to different Vs, so I’m never forced to choose between them on a given playthrough 😁
I've been using the Shure SM7DB for a few months now but I only made I think 2 other Cyberpunk videos using it. I used to use the Rode NT1. Glad you think it sounds better!
Hey, Sam! Thanks for still making Cyberpunk 2077 videos! My choice is Judy, Panam has more action and drive but it is hugely overshadowed by the her ending. Judy is more homely and cutesy, even after the whole Ev ordeal. And a personal note here, I just like Ms. Leigh's VO more than the other one.
Judy is obviously the best choice. And the best ending(s)is going with her and Panam to New Mexico. That means you have your lover and your best friend who will both do anything for you at your side. Not onky that, but if you choose to send Songbird to the Moon, you have one more powerful friend should you ever meet again. It just meshes so well. And we dont weather V will live or not in 6+ months. I choose to believe V gets the help needed out east and lives even longer if not til old age kills V.
I’ve only done the Panam and Judy romances. First Panam then I modded my save to see what the Judy line was like. And between Panam and Judy, Judy’s was the best one to me. I feel like V’s relationship with her developed more naturally. And I think they have good chemistry. And with Panam the main issue is that both she and V will always have other obligations that come before their relationship with each other. I think they work best as friends/comrades.
Thank you for doing a respectful review of River. He often gets the worst content and haters without much evidence to back it up. I respect and agree with the points you made for him. I know he's not for everyone. As a het woman and as one who loves generally vanilla romances with good hearts (I'm a Wyll romancer in BG3 as well). I find these romances actually balance a player like me out. I tend to be a bashy bashy, barbarian-like woman, and a bit criminal. It's my thing to go after these types of men lol (IRL husband too lmao)
Judy lost so many respect points from me for cutting and running on her friends. So many of the problems in her questline are just 100% her own fault, an awful plan(which makes it so annoying when the script forces V to say what a good plan it is), and then she just abandons all the Dolls after she convinced them to wade out chin deep into the river of crap. Right up until the end I kept thinking "Okay. At some point Judy's gonna grow a brain and call in the Mox for help, or maybe even takeover the Mox from Susie so that we'll actually have the necessary firepower to takeover Clouds and keep the Tygers from coming back for revenge...right?" But no. It never happened. This ditz actually thought the Tygers would just say "Good game! Well played!" and go home. And made no plan whatsoever for any other response. Even her perfect world scenario had her immediately destroying the combat chips to ensure the Dolls would not be able to defend themselves in the event of future trouble.
What I don't get about Judy, after having a great romance, I choose returning back to earth to die in peace(devil ending) and she, after told me to get back to earth fast, scrams outa city, without me! Wtf man. Leaving your girl to die by yourself? Sad.
You know, I just realized there's an aspect of Cyberpunk you haven't ranked yet; the different types of cyberware that aren't arms or legs, (skeleton, circulatory system, etc.) at least as of 2.0. Do you ever plan on making ranking videos for those?
48:14 IMO, Panam is the most popular because most played as male V. I remember people were pretty bummed out when they learned you can’t romance Judy as a male, even more so because she was the face of the marketing.

The whole visiting the family section is weird af... first he brings you to see a family that he clearly haven't see in some time by the voice lines, then he makes a dinner calling if family recipe but when you read the sharps in the house you discover that he just googled it. I always romance Panam (call me basic idk), but I do also like River which a lot of people don’t. I haven’t even tried the romance and I love his character. Maybe it’s because I loved the cop aspect especially in a city as rotten as Night City, but damn was I suprised by how much I enjoyed his quest chain. The scene where you’re hanging out with his family just felt so amazingly human like that’s a moment that I and probably many people have had in real life just having a barbecue with a new friend it’s calm there’s no danger and it humanizes him so well.
I would have to say Judy's romance is better than Panam's. Judy and V is no less of a power couple than Panam and V, her skillset is just in a different place. On top of that, after she learns about Johnny, you can start finding chips and files on her computer showing she's researching biochips and personality engrams and brainstorming how to use this information with her own knowledge to try and find a way to save V herself. She asks you to join her on the dive because she both trusts that you won't intentionally do anything to screw up her attempt at a world's first (two input BD), but also because she trusts you enough to share something so meaningful to her, knowing there's a chance you could see inside her own mind. Sure, one could argue Panam did something similar in the basilisk, but those are very different emotions that are being shared. Panam wants to heighten what is already being felt while Judy wants to share what's most important to her.
I 101% agree that Judy/V can be an equally strong/compelling power couple the only thing that....slightly undercuts it is that doing Pyramid Song as male V feels slightly less right. Not saying Vincent can't be friends with Judy just that the connection feels more real when you can seal the deal and make it "our night" As Valerie after you fix the generator and console her.
@@snakeman830 tbh I have to disagree, Queen of the Higheay may be just a sealing the deal in terms of the romance scene, but the buildup to the romance was much better, the only times I heard geniune affection between characters in the entire game that wasnt smack before the sex scene was in Riders on the Storm when Panam and V kiss and in With a Little Help from my friends on the operation tower and next to the campfire, the char in the operation tower is actually my fav non ending scene in the game cuz its such a different dynamic to what the game says about night city and people there having no affection, Panam lays everything out for V and is so affectionate and genuine in that scene and so is V it just melts the heart, Panam being your main romance also makes the Star ending scene feel a lot more wholesome, V breathing in freedom then looks at the stars with his girlfriend in his arms and a new beginning ahead of him, also weirdly makes him tossing the chain Misty made for him into the water a whole better dynamic that it isnt a friend with you that is helping you get rid of the last thing (minus the chip) that binds you to NC but the person you love, I however feelings aside have to say Panam and Judy are as good a partner as a person could get, Panam is perfect for male V, Judy is perfect for female V
Great ranking list. Slightly off-topic, but one thing I really hope for with Orion is more romance options for each "gender/sexuality" but.....more importantly.....more ways in which the player can FAIL to get a romantic outcome with those NPC's-as a result of our words, deeds or both.
My headcanon is that these 2 endings combine to be the best ending with some extended story. For me, get her to the moon to get her cure, then the mission to the space station in the post scene is actually a cover to go to the moon to get her out of the nefarious plans of the blue eyed AIs. The motivation is simple because her incredible intelligence and connections would make perfect sense for her to help V find a cure as well. I can easily see them very quietly retire away somewhere after it all and be happy together.
I absolutely love this game. Maybe even too much. Cyberpunk 2077 has so many memorable moments, some of which I still remember vividly from the very first day I played it. And the romance update - while its small ones, makes all the difference to interactions. To make the game more realistic, I’d recommend CDPR to make all the romance partners have their own routines. This way, you can schedule a date when both you and them are available - making it feel more realistic and memorable when actually meeting up with them. Also, more clothing stores and other places should be expanded on in my opinion, and making empty or locked rooms functional and accessible, or adding an option like a customisable apartment overhaul - would also be a super cool update!

Even though Judy is most my type, and her final mission is great, I think the overall writing on Panam's romance works better, much better build up, Judy's romance has nothing like that sandstorm scene, plus it worked perfectly on my first playthrough of a Nomad V
Female V with Judy, leaving the city with the Aldecaldos, hand over fist. 2 key reasons: One, Judy is one hell of a character, and not a selfish hotheaded b**** like Panam. Two, and to me this is the more important reason: Judy's end-credits message to V with this ending (romantic one in her underwear) is the ONE AND ONLY end credit message where you can hear V's own voice in the message, where she sounds quite vibrant and healthy, and those messages are supposed to be around the time that V supposedly dies. So it is the ONLY ending where V is effectively GUARANTEED to survive.
Yo, I prefer Judy too. Doesn't mean we have to shit on Panam. Panam is hotheaded sure but selfish ? That's ridiculous. She's the only one willing to risk her life (and her clan) to help lowly you, regardless of romantic status. I wish there were more selfish people like that..

Panam for me, while I do love Judy as well Panam grew on me more. And technically I wouldnt be able to romance Judy as male V in the first place, even if all it takes is just a console unlock command :D But it is something that I do think is pretty dumb. That being said I did make a female V run just for Judy (and for her VA) and she was worth it. Great romances both tho. I like River as a bro but while Kerry is interesting I dont really care about him all that much, but like you say, all the characters and even romances are imo good at least.
No lie, every single time I round the garage in the Star ending and Judy is there talking to Carol I smile like a damn idiot, and I am literally jumping up and down in the game. Someone asked me once which ending was best and it always always has to be the Star for me. My win condition is whatever lets V and Judy be together and happy 🏳🌈💕
I agree with you on all the points you made. Personally, I connected more emotionally with Judy (Pyramid Song was phenomenal) than Panam even as male V. However, the romance did feel more natural, engaging and cool with Panam.

Since it was mentioned in the Basilisk scene part, having your clothes immediately after the sex scene without being it clear when you dressed again was not always the case.
Back in the early days of early post-release Cyberpunk 2077 before the first significant patches, the game removed your clothes for the scene by automatically unequipping them. I did not know this. That was also not the case for Panam, who came out fully dressed as normal. So after the Rafen are repelled, we come out of the tank and I follow the scene normally but I couldn't remember if I still had a certain weapon or something like that so I clicked to enter my inventory... and saw my V naked as the day he was born. I was hanging dong in front of the entire Aldecaldo Clan. I think I was laughing for a solid ten to fifteen minutes.
That got me to! Realizing that V is just standing in the desert, surrounded by blood, fires, and the Aldecaldos, with his dick hanging out. Too funny.

Panam is definitely something else. In a world where everybody uses everybody, even abusing V to a point, she gives him twice as much as she receives; that family feeling that V never had. She is always unconditional, loyal to the bones, when it matters, where it matters.
she feels great as a friend as well, having only gone through on a female V. just.. the aldecaldos in general. I'd done hours and hours of side gigs before doing Panam's quests, dealing with some of the worst scum in Night City, seeing people treat each other like garbage.Then my V walked into the Aldecaldo camp with Panam for the first time, and despite her technically being an outcast, everyone was happy to see her and concerned about her wellbeing, offering what help they could without compromising their own wellbeing. It was shocking to me in that moment when I'd been so immersed in how awful a place Night City was to suddenly be reminded that healthy human interactions were still a thing that existed in this world. it was a powerful moment to me that I won't forget.

I chose the Devil's ending and when I was at the space station getting ready for my surgery and received those messages from Earth from all the people I knew, Panam's was the one that I felt most honest and sincere, inviting me to join her and the Aldecaldo's more like a family that would receive me with open arms, while Judy's, having had a love story with me, was cold and felt forced.
@rubenlopezusa If you're referring to their respective voicemails in the credits, I'm kinda willing to give Judy a bit of a pass in that instance. The Devil ending reuses the same voicemails as the Sun ending, which makes all the characters' reactions rather inconsistent in this ending compared to when V calls them.
I'll use River as an example. V calls him in this ending, and this man is panicking trying to find out which orbital station V is on to rescue her, yet when you hit the credits he's more concerned with the next get-together with his family rather than saving V. Judy's voicemail makes sense in the Sun ending considering what happens to the relationship there, but the Devil ending doesn't really match up too well situationally, especially if V goes into Mikoshi. It's clearly a case of CDPR getting lazy.
If you're looking for warmer, more caring reactions, the other endings definitely provide that, especially Star. Although I'd argue Path of Least Resistance shows you exactly how much Judy cares.

I think it's really unfair when people bring up the fact that Judy doesn't do anything for V while Panam does. There's a giant difference in ability between the two. Panam has years of combat experience, an arsenal of weapons and tech (including a tank now), and an army of nomads at her beck and call. Judy has a few guns and that's it. She can help with a little Scavs base, but they're ants compared to Night Corp, Arasaka soldiers, and especially Adam Smasher.
Judy just can't do the thing Panam can and that's fine. I think being the biggest reason V has to find a cure and make back in one piece is more than enough. No greater motivator to live than to have someone to live for.
Judy is more preoccupied with her own motivations and doesn't really show interest in V's IMO. Panam is a lot more reciprocal.

While V gets involved into Judy's life a lot, Judy isn't involved in V's life (except the fact of the romance itself). I mean Judy is a loner, she doesn't have a fellow gang to help V with biz (Judy doesn't have any authority in Moxes), she's not a netrunner, she's more like a simple civilian person. But I really wish there was an opportunity to somehow get Judy onboard with helping V's problem. It would make Judy romance so much more wholesome and authentic.
In the missions I've done so far Panam was throwing red flags by blowing up power stations and getting in a bunch of people killed due to some kind of crossed lover situation with, I think, the leader of her old group. She stayed back pinking people with a rifle and then, for some reason, invited a huge group of bikers to save me at a gas station after I'd killed all of the enemies. Still not sure why she needed the gang there or why they didn't come help with the actual mission.

An answer to the OP is that in all of the endings, it's clear that Judy's life it outside of NC. Panam will accomodate hers to fit V. In fact insists that V is part of the Aldecaldos family. As a male V you feel it's due to romance, as a female V you feel that it's so that you don't have to die alone and for both of them, to never quit. Judy doesn't have the answers, but she sure as hell have strong motives to stay alone. In one of the endings she literally hints that NC is too much for her and doesn't want to stay around until V switches completely...and that's as a romance, for male V she's cool in sending a postcard at best. Come on..there's no comparison which out of the 2 is more willing to stay committed.
The potential chemistry between V and Judy can be seen in Act 1 in their very first meeting if V has a high enough tech score. The interaction is platonic, but aTech Saavy V and Judy briefly nerding out about Judy's custom set-up is something Evelyn heavily dislikes. Especially since immediately before this, Evelyn was attempting to compartmentalize her life and make V more standoffish towards Judy. While Judy's quest chain is a bit out of the way, it also acts as a good character moment for a V recovering from The Heist.
It also appears that a lot of people missed that you can flirt with her from that very same first encounter lol, after you’re done with the bd and Evelyn tells you two need to talk, before leaving you can go say actual goodbyes in two ways to Judy and the flirty lines go

@@MandalorianRevan That's a very interesting observation. I never took Evelyn's words before and after meeting Judy as malice or intention to create separation. She warns us about Judy's sharp personality and general dislike for people, and then tries to move the conversation along when V and Judy get distracted. I totally see where you're coming from though, in hindsight Evelyn's actions do seem like she is trying to keep us out of her and Judy's personal relationship.
I think Judy's quest starts very naturally. It's a bridge from The Heist and, in my opinion, when I first played through the game I thought finding Evelyn would be the best option for V's survival. After that, well, you know what happens. It's a motivating connection to Judy's interests in shifting leadership at Clouds. After you learn about what happens to Evie and meet that awful man, how could you not want to do something about it?
There was a mod in the works that basically made judy bi using a bunch of cut dialogue. Along with swapping out character models with existing animations.

Im genuinely unsurprised at Kerry and River being at the bottom. River has too little build-up and virtually no good endings regardless of the path you take. And Kerrys is cute, but if you're being real, Kerry only likes Male V because we remind him of Johnny, and we're more or less his "hot new input" that motivates his next era of music.

No competition, by far the best ending. Even tho we don’t really know what happens to V, that ending gives off a feeling of hope that the others don’t. And you also get to take Judy away from the city so even if V does die, she can hopefully start a new life easier.
I think its male V leaving with the Aldecaldos with romanced Panam, it just makes the ending scene so much more wholesome that V and Panam are not in each others arms as friends but as lovers and V is riding off into the sunset with the girl he loves, picture perfect and probs unrealistic end for most in Night City but I think thats what makes male V Aldecaldos ending with Panam as the main romance option my fav ending by a mile

To me one of the cuter but more low key romance moments is after you first meet Judy you can have V very awkwardly approach Judy and express interest in seeing her again. Given who V becomes later it is almost adorable to see her being almost shy and not exactly confident when approaching Judy and expressing her interest.
Judy's diving scene is just the best date anyone can wish for, well, besides the relic malfunction.
And little fun side note, with the tactical diving suit from PL, you can go back to Laguna Bend on your own.

Panam is my favorite. She's just so ride or die and I was legit heartbroken at the phantom liberty ending when you romance her. She tries to find you for years. You just dont get that kind of commitment from anyone else in the game. I honestly think if Panam cant save you in the nomad ending, she would never be the same.
With Judy it feels very realistic how it all builds up. Its kinda like the „i can fix her“ meme just that you do. Panam is more like someone that will help you because you helped her. I like both and put both on my first place.
I'd still rate it the lower end but River's romance its probably the more realistic scenario. No fancy hotels, no battle tanks. A convenient bed at a house he's staying at, being as quiet as possible to have a night of something other than the depressing situation you both are in. I'd say that sort of fling/encounter has been experienced by a fair few people.
I just really wanna say, that hearing Sam talk about Cyber Punk again feels nostalgic, but great. From the listening to vids while I’m doing regular day things to the days of me playing through the bugs in the game and still enjoying it very much so, being psyched for the new and upcoming patches, watching edge runners with my brothers, getting really immersed into the game more so with the dlc after being so heavily invested. Felt like a CP renaissance.
Honestly, Panam's character development is one of the best I've ever seen in a videogame in decades of gaming. I've replayed the ending a number of times, and each time, I tear up a little, hoping V makes it...
Judy's my favorite. If I remember correctly, we can sprinkle in a bit of affection/flirting early on, but we're not forced to. We then reconnect with her for good reasons and the growing relationship could be played as platonic or romantic. Right until the end it depends on the player which way it will go. Playing her whole story never felt awkward even with a female V that doesn't romance her, but at the same time totally made sense with a V that does romance her. Meanwhile, Panam's snuggling up to V even if I want nothing from her (admittedly I just don't like her much). I like River, but romancing him requires a lot of headcanon/ rp "work". Kerry was fun, but he's also just, I'm sorry, a bit of an idiot. I think Judy's reaction to any of the endings also just makes sense and feels in character.

I do think people underrate V(incent) and Kerry's relationship a fair bit, despite how it comes too late in the game, it's my 2nd favourite Love Story in 2077, and my go-to LI for Vincent.
Much like V(alerie)/Judy, their relationship is also built out of mutual circumstances. Whereas that relationship is built up from the ashes of the pain from the Heist, this one is built out of their mutual fear: not feeling as if they didn't matter in the world, that they would be forgotten and didn't make a name for themselves against Night City. But both are able to have mutual understanding out of that fear. People say that Kerry is using V for Johnny, but that notion is immediately dispelled by the fact that Kerry keeps talking of Johnny in the past tense, post-Samurai gig. Boat Drinks especially is more of how he misses Johnny, but he's ready to move on, away from mourning what could have been. Kerry loves Vincent for who he is as an individual person, not who he reminds him of. There is also the age gap, which I understand why people would be apprehensive, but Kerry acts more in his mid-30s and treats V as an equal. He wants to communicate with V, wants to hear how his life is, what his condition is like at the moment. He's the only LI in the Sun Ending that is on a equal playing field in understanding V’s ambitions and goals in going out in a Blaze of Glory. I have no doubt that post-Tower Ending, he does reunite with V and wants to rebuild that relationship.
I totally agree with you. The only problem is that it lacked dialog, he doesn't react to the relationship like others do. Which is a pity because the texts are very funny and the voice actor delivers the scenes really well.
The fact that we can only talk about Boat Drinks when V doesn't have a relationship with him bothers me.

100% agree. I was searching through these comments specifically for a proper defense of the Kerry romance. So thank you for being that voice! I wanna jump in with my own comment too--in case other people wanna dive into the Kerry appreciation. I'm disappointed that the common interpretation of Kerry's interest in V(incent) is rooted solely in his infatuation with Johnny. I think it's pretty clear, as you said, that he is ready to move on by the final two romance quests. As Kerry said in Boat Drinks, "Loop Completion" had come--and it was time to move forward--he achieved closure. I think V is the person he chooses to move forward with for many of the reasons you outline, and because V is genuine and honest with Kerry--he also helped him out on this journey and even if Johnny led V to Kerry initially, V chose to stay--and he "could have walked away at any moment."
Because of the official statement on the psychological impact Johnny being in V's head has on Kerry's romantic *preference* for male V, I think Kerry also clearly demonstrates an obvious preference for men throughout the game... but that aside while Kerry might *initially* be interested in calling on V because of his connection to Johnny--he quickly understands that Johnny is merely a passenger in V's head, and not actually "there." To add to the mutual understanding you mentioned, I think V and Kerry could also bond over the way Johnny cemented his existence in their minds (literally and figuratively "would rip him outta my head if i could" - "think i know the feeling" moment) and made a profound impact on them both, and this connection to Johnny is something that both Kerry and V would ultimately mourn the loss of. At least I truly felt like I was mourning the loss of Johnny--and that V clearly also loved him by the end--albeit not romantically but as his only true friend.
Also agree with your sense of the endings--people's feelings over time can change, and by the end in Sun, Kerry says he doesn't feel really *anything* about Johnny anymore, that he only has a new space to fill with someone special (that being V), and in the Tower he's the *only* love interest to not only answer V, but offers help, and says he'll be back after his tour--so I do agree that he does seem interested in rebuilding the relationship. In the ending where Johnny takes V's body, you get an upset Kerry explaining that he's been dumped by boyfriends in some shitty ways, but this takes the cake, ending it with: "I guess you really are one of a kind after all." The regard he has for V is made clear even in the more bad romance endings... where Kerry clearly just feels foolish for believing he found someone truly different, someone special that he could rely on in this lonely and defeating world.
I think the nuance of Kerry's character and his relationship with V suffers from obvious lack of content compared to characters like Judy and Panam coupled with his late introduction in the game (which means limited development time). Therefore, I can understand why people might jump to the conclusion that he's finally getting Johnny through V--and write off many of his behaviors as those he believes he should take on to impress Johnny. But I think that these conclusions fundamentally ignore things Kerry directly states, growth he does exhibit (even it is fast-paced/rushed), and the fact that he has demonstrated moments of complete honesty and vulnerability with V.
IMO Kerry is the most underrated romance option in the game, but the lack of content from the developers isn't doing him any favors in this regard... nonetheless, he is my favorite. Just wish the devs gave him a bit more love so he could have really shined like the rockstar he is.
My favorite is Judy and i love how you can make a Chinatown reference before romancing her and . I'm not into the Kerry romance but i love his side quests specially playing "Boat Drinks " before meeting Hanako feels just right i do it every playthrough , i head cannon it as V putting off meeting Hanako until this quest because Kerry talks about new beginnings and encourages V accidentally to face their new beginning in the endings because all of them put a close to this chapter in V's life and start their new journey as a Nomad , an Ai , an NC legend or an NPC in the tower

Rivers entire quest line moves way, way too fast for me. Really feels like they rushed him. We do one mission together, and he already trusts me enough to bring me to his sister's home and tell me about his missing nephew? Then we romance him after just two jobs together? Judy forever.

I’ll always vouch for Kerry over Panam and the Tower ending cemented that for me. Such a charming character and the extra layer with Johnny just makes it more appealing. Female V just gets the short stick in every way except when playing the Star ending with Judy.
I get why people love Panam over Judy, but Judy is easily my Absolute Favorite romance option from the Scuba Diving Hangout and Love scene after it. Not to mention how well written & emotional it is & also the cute Texts & nickname she gives FemV AHHHH it’s so cute it warms my heart. I just love how Judy’s Romance is my absolute favorite in all of Gaming from how realistic it is & how emotional it gets plus actually going on a hangout/Scuba Diving Date, AHHH IT’S SO CUTE!
Judy is my favorite character out of all video games ever. She is so well developed and such a good person living a tough life. But despite her troubles she just wants to keep trying, keep being a decent soul, and has a cool intelligent vibe to go with her sexy looks. All the scenes and music related to her are incredible. I find Panam, while a good person, has excessive attitude that gets in the way.

The thing that threw me with the Stout one was the line about seeing more of her Ink, when to my eye you couldn't see any in the first place and I can't even recall in the cutscene if she had any notable tattoos.
Without a doubt Judy is #1. Considering that I have played the game in several playthroughs as Valarie and decided to play as Vincent to have different romance options, it just didnt hit the same.
Judy is a co-dependant type of person which makes her… somewhat clingy, making the feeling of being alone in NC a bit more bearable. Since Judy has lost many in NC, having her as a partner seems like shes more worried or making sure you are okay (at least through missions as it goes on and beginning of the dating).
Panam is the type to do what she wants, is fast to jump conclusions and constantly busy with the Aldecaldos so you dont see her much or hear her saying any cute romance words much. Now dont get me wrong, I know theres probably tons of people who are okay with that, but I too, want some love and affection every now and then.
I guess what im saying is Judy is more open into sharing her affection while Panam is more reserved. So its really up to people who they like more. Mines Judy 😁.

I feel like i'm the only one who doesn't like pan am because i'm not a teenage boy. She's hot-headed. Stubborn doesn't learn from her mistakes, and then somehow all that gets hurt to be a co leader of her clan? She's like 25 and makes decsion based on erratic emotions but somehow that makes sense. Also, her response in the new ending is not on brand.
And if you do the "end yourself" ending, she gets mad and says "how dare you after everything I have done for you" when she has done nothing for me lol

This so much. Panam's hot headed attitude thing is my main issue with her. I've was in a relationship with a girl like her for three years in my early 20s. Good looks and any likable personality traits get heavily damaged by that attitude hotheaded thing. For me it was a lesson learned 'never date a girl like that again'. And soon after that ended I actually found my real life version of Judy. Been together 15 years now. Grateful for her.

I refuse to ever do the River romance. He's just really creepy to me, and the whole dinner scene where he and his adoptive family essentially back you into a corner really irked me. Then despite V looking frazzled and refusing to answer them, he does it AGAIN on the water tower. Just feels very manipulative and controlling to me, like bro, take a hint.
Doesn't help that whenever I see him i get flashbacks to the farmhouse either.

You went through something traumatic with River, not the family. The family BARELY knows you and they're already trying to push you and river together (which to me suggests that river led them to believe you were closer than you actually were). I'm surprised you can't see that the whole dinner was designed to get river in your pants, and to do that after one of the most traumatizing quests is just insane to me. It's wildly unnatural and feels manufactured, and besides, before this dinner there was NO spark or even a tiny hint of a romantic connection, he springs it on you out of nowhere.

V is a beautiful young woman, and River is a handsome young man and both had a connection that the family sees. Not neccesarily romantic, but something. So people will tease and prodd.
V' does develop a connection with the family here and there through conversations and helping them get a family member back. There is a foundation.

Judy is obviously the best choice. And the best ending(s)is going with her and Panam to New Mexico. That means you have your lover and your best friend who will both do anything for you at your side. Not onky that, but if you choose to send Songbird to the Moon, you have one more powerful friend should you ever meet again. It just meshes so well. And we dont weather V will live or not in 6+ months. I choose to believe V gets the help needed out east and lives even longer if not til old age kills V.

I’ve only done the Panam and Judy romances. First Panam then I modded my save to see what the Judy line was like.
And between Panam and Judy, Judy’s was the best one to me. I feel like V’s relationship with her developed more naturally. And I think they have good chemistry.
And with Panam the main issue is that both she and V will always have other obligations that come before their relationship with each other. I think they work best as friends/comrades.
Thank you for doing a respectful review of River. He often gets the worst content and haters without much evidence to back it up. I respect and agree with the points you made for him. I know he's not for everyone. As a het woman and as one who loves generally vanilla romances with good hearts (I'm a Wyll romancer in BG3 as well). I find these romances actually balance a player like me out. I tend to be a bashy bashy, barbarian-like woman, and a bit criminal. It's my thing to go after these types of men lol (IRL husband too lmao)

Judy lost so many respect points from me for cutting and running on her friends. So many of the problems in her questline are just 100% her own fault, an awful plan(which makes it so annoying when the script forces V to say what a good plan it is), and then she just abandons all the Dolls after she convinced them to wade out chin deep into the river of crap.
Right up until the end I kept thinking "Okay. At some point Judy's gonna grow a brain and call in the Mox for help, or maybe even takeover the Mox from Susie so that we'll actually have the necessary firepower to takeover Clouds and keep the Tygers from coming back for revenge...right?"
But no. It never happened. This ditz actually thought the Tygers would just say "Good game! Well played!" and go home. And made no plan whatsoever for any other response. Even her perfect world scenario had her immediately destroying the combat chips to ensure the Dolls would not be able to defend themselves in the event of future trouble.
What I don't get about Judy, after having a great romance, I choose returning back to earth to die in peace(devil ending) and she, after told me to get back to earth fast, scrams outa city, without me! Wtf man. Leaving your girl to die by yourself? Sad.

I think you are giving more credit that River deserves by leaving behind a lot of other flaws that he have. The whole visiting the family section is weird af... first he brings you to see a family that he clearly haven't see in some time by the voice lines, then he makes a dinner calling if family recipe but when you read the sharps in the house you discover that he just googled it. Brother that's emotional manipulation
I always romance Panam (call me basic idk), but I do also like River which a lot of people don’t. I haven’t even tried the romance and I love his character. Maybe it’s because I loved the cop aspect especially in a city as rotten as Night City, but damn was I suprised by how much I enjoyed his quest chain. The scene where you’re hanging out with his family just felt so amazingly human like that’s a moment that I and probably many people have had in real life just having a barbecue with a new friend it’s calm there’s no danger and it humanizes him so well.
I would have to say Judy's romance is better than Panam's. Judy and V is no less of a power couple than Panam and V, her skillset is just in a different place. On top of that, after she learns about Johnny, you can start finding chips and files on her computer showing she's researching biochips and personality engrams and brainstorming how to use this information with her own knowledge to try and find a way to save V herself.
She asks you to join her on the dive because she both trusts that you won't intentionally do anything to screw up her attempt at a world's first (two input BD), but also because she trusts you enough to share something so meaningful to her, knowing there's a chance you could see inside her own mind. Sure, one could argue Panam did something similar in the basilisk, but those are very different emotions that are being shared. Panam wants to heighten what is already being felt while Judy wants to share what's most important to her.
I 101% agree that Judy/V can be an equally strong/compelling power couple the only thing that....slightly undercuts it is that doing Pyramid Song as male V feels slightly less right. Not saying Vincent can't be friends with Judy just that the connection feels more real when you can seal the deal and make it "our night" As Valerie after you fix the generator and console her.
@@snakeman830 tbh I have to disagree, Queen of the Higheay may be just a sealing the deal in terms of the romance scene, but the buildup to the romance was much better, the only times I heard geniune affection between characters in the entire game that wasnt smack before the sex scene was in Riders on the Storm when Panam and V kiss and in With a Little Help from my friends on the operation tower and next to the campfire, the char in the operation tower is actually my fav non ending scene in the game cuz its such a different dynamic to what the game says about night city and people there having no affection, Panam lays everything out for V and is so affectionate and genuine in that scene and so is V it just melts the heart, Panam being your main romance also makes the Star ending scene feel a lot more wholesome, V breathing in freedom then looks at the stars with his girlfriend in his arms and a new beginning ahead of him, also weirdly makes him tossing the chain Misty made for him into the water a whole better dynamic that it isnt a friend with you that is helping you get rid of the last thing (minus the chip) that binds you to NC but the person you love, I however feelings aside have to say Panam and Judy are as good a partner as a person could get, Panam is perfect for male V, Judy is perfect for female V

Great ranking list. Slightly off-topic, but one thing I really hope for with Orion is more romance options for each "gender/sexuality" but.....more importantly.....more ways in which the player can FAIL to get a romantic outcome with those NPC's-as a result of our words, deeds or both.
Saving Songbird and Don't fear the reaper is by far the best ending.
My headcanon is that these 2 endings combine to be the best ending with some extended story. For me, get her to the moon to get her cure, then the mission to the space station in the post scene is actually a cover to go to the moon to get her out of the nefarious plans of the blue eyed AIs. The motivation is simple because her incredible intelligence and connections would make perfect sense for her to help V find a cure as well. I can easily see them very quietly retire away somewhere after it all and be happy together.

Cyberpunk 2077 has so many memorable moments, some of which I still remember vividly from the very first day I played it. And the romance update - while its small ones, makes all the difference to interactions. To make the game more realistic, I’d recommend CDPR to make all the romance partners have their own routines. This way, you can schedule a date when both you and them are available - making it feel more realistic and memorable when actually meeting up with them.
Also, more clothing stores and other places should be expanded on in my opinion, and making empty or locked rooms functional and accessible, or adding an option like a customisable apartment overhaul - would also be a super cool update!

Even though Judy is most my type, and her final mission is great, I think the overall writing on Panam's romance works better, much better build up, Judy's romance has nothing like that sandstorm scene, plus it worked perfectly on my first playthrough of a Nomad V

Female V with Judy, leaving the city with the Aldecaldos, hand over fist. 2 key reasons: One, Judy is one hell of a character, and not a selfish hotheaded b**** like Panam. Two, and to me this is the more important reason: Judy's end-credits message to V with this ending (romantic one in her underwear) is the ONE AND ONLY end credit message where you can hear V's own voice in the message, where she sounds quite vibrant and healthy, and those messages are supposed to be around the time that V supposedly dies. So it is the ONLY ending where V is effectively GUARANTEED to survive.
I like to think the neuro-science people Panam says may be able to help (during the star ending), actually could help, and did.
Yo, I prefer Judy too. Doesn't mean we have to shit on Panam. Panam is hotheaded sure but selfish ? That's ridiculous. She's the only one willing to risk her life (and her clan) to help lowly you, regardless of romantic status. I wish there were more selfish people like that..
@@iSuperVamp The selfishness does lead Panam to make a number of mistakes, because she only thinks about her own viewpoints and not those of others. She's very my-way-or-the-highway, which is often not a good thing.

Straight up lies and manipulates you to get what she wants. And yet you'll find plenty of people defending her. Here's the thing, people are what they do. Judy is the right answer but the fact that all the (main) romance options are interesting and flawed and believable (in the context of the story) says a lot about the level of storytelling on display in this game. Perfect topic for a return to CP video, btw. Been sittin' on this idea for a while, I bet. Savvy.
Panam for me, while I do love Judy as well Panam grew on me more. And technically I wouldnt be able to romance Judy as male V in the first place, even if all it takes is just a console unlock command :D But it is something that I do think is pretty dumb. That being said I did make a female V run just for Judy (and for her VA) and she was worth it.
Great romances both tho.
I like River as a bro but while Kerry is interesting I dont really care about him all that much, but like you say, all the characters and even romances are imo good at least.

Judy is my personal favorite. But I think they are all great - even River, who everyone seems to hate.
No lie, every single time I round the garage in the Star ending and Judy is there talking to Carol I smile like a damn idiot, and I am literally jumping up and down in the game. Someone asked me once which ending was best and it always always has to be the Star for me. My win condition is whatever lets V and Judy be together and happy 🏳🌈💕
I agree with you on all the points you made. Personally, I connected more emotionally with Judy (Pyramid Song was phenomenal) than Panam even as male V. However, the romance did feel more natural, engaging and cool with Panam.

Corpofemale V, Judy and Nomad ending, You get the best dialoge options, Clan jacket and the Maxtec armor. Lorewise you leave the city with both Panam and Judy, the voicemessages you get in the endscroll from both are wholesome.
