    Hey mate, great work. With your beads on the corners, how do you cut them to fit? Top long edges first then short end edge? Followed by the vertical edges to the ground? Did you affix them with normal render or is it best to use patch and prep stuff from a bucket? Cheers!

    • @millsfitness4742
      @millsfitness4742  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks mate, I use tin snips to cut them easiest and quickest way, it depends what iam doing, retaining wall like this I’ll always do the tops (horizontal ) first then the corners, if iam doing a window I’ll do the two vertical reveals first then the head and sill you get a more accurate cut that way, you can use normal render to stick them with just add a bit of bond with the mix to get a more solid fixing, I like the pre blended patch and prep because it sets really hard but it’s just personal preference 👍

    Not bad bro nice work. Run a solid gig here dont mind your system. Run a proper screed over it after the darby and slack accordingly and re screed for a straighter finish and id definetely be using rockcote keycoat over waterproof for sure aswell. Patch and prep has no aggregate its too fine and not enough checmicals lol.

    • @millsfitness4742
      @millsfitness4742  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I used to do it like that 10 years ago and you defiantly get a flatter finish but to be fair I can get it just as flat as if I went over it with a c channel, you just have a lot more material wastage unless there paying for a screed job I’ll just Darby it, ketcote is also really good but I’ve never had a problem with patch and prep always stuck to my waterproofing, if it’s the real heavy stuff what drys like rubber I’ll use keycote, also patch is a bit easier to spread, I’ve worked for a few different solid plastering crews and they all do it a little different, as long as we get the same end results, back In the day we all did sand cement bullnosed it all and but it on 10-12mm thick and keyed it between coats now it’s all gone to this bag shit and it’s more a skim coat product in my option, you’ll know how it is it’s very demanding on the body so anything to make our job a little easier iam going to do it.

    Put bonding agent on the block will kill the suction and stop the block lines showing scratch & double it the same day

      Sometimes I do or give the wall a bit of a damp if I need a bit more time with it, this product has all the bonding and additives in it and I add a little extra bond in the mix too, I like to give it 24 hours between coats with this product covers the block work up a lot better and stops the mortar joints showing through 👍

  • @iainmcclean8840
    @iainmcclean8840 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Looks great. What was the waterproofing stuff on the back ? Set and prep did you say ? And what was on below that ?
    Thanks

    • @millsfitness4742
      @millsfitness4742  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s just a standard waterproofing to protect and seal the block wall, with all the back fill and soil behind the wall there’s always going to be moisture trapped there, you apply the waterproofing to stop penetration.
      The patch and prep is a product that sticks to the waterproofing to allow for the base coat of the render to bond to the wall, you can’t put just any render on the waterproofing because it will crack and peel off.

      Haha thats funny because it’s been 4 years and it hasn’t cracked, you don’t need to mesh the corners with this product, if you understood the procedures and tolerances of different products you’d realise that, if you have never used this material before I wouldn’t be making comments on it, not everything is the same with all materials

    • @millsfitness4742
      @millsfitness4742  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey mate, yes it’s normal as it’s the part of the wall closes to the ground it will naturally absorb the water/moisture from the ground, you can fix a drip mould slightly of the ground to keep the render off the bottom (usually sand & cement) with this product it has tons of additives and bonding agents so it doesn’t require a drip mould, never had any problems with the water getting behind the render causing it to crack, so yeah perfectly normal 👍

    • @serdarniyazi
      @serdarniyazi 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@millsfitness4742 mine looks as if the water is at the bottom of the wall behind the wall due to it being concrete on the ground

    • @millsfitness4742
      @millsfitness4742  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @serdarniyazi it’s hard to know without seeing it, depending on the product you’ve used and few other factors, just check for cracks and boxing so tap on the wall we’re it is wet and see if it sounds Drummy that’s a good indication that the render is coming away

    Beaded it, first coat, top coat - wollen duffel, darby, float, sponge finish, straight beads 'n all, two scoops of vanilla, a packet of crisps and a pint of lager. Fast motion all looks champion but I'm fucked if I know bugger all about his mix and application technique 'n all the shite one might need to know. I guess if you know, you know but I don't know and although ol' matey here showed a brillyant finished wall I had trouble learning fook all. Slow down a bit mon 'n show and tell so's we can all learn your ways. A big wide shot shows some stuff 'n things from a distance but fook all really. Mud on.

      You don’t always have to do that, especially with the pre mixed bag render it has all the additives in it plus I put bond in the mix, I float the first coat with a polystyrene float which leaves a rough key for the top coat, done it for 12 + years never once gone back to a job because of the render blowing of, I used to use that system back in the uk, every country has different systems that works not just a one way fits everything 👍
