    I built my home in Mexico 35 years ago and after wetting my cement blocks I used the same air gun that used to spray a textured ceiling to spray stucco directly on the block . It’s been this long and my outside walls here in this area of Baja California Mexico is still in great condition.😊

    These guys are good, I’ve been doing stucco since 1992 and now days no one wets the block first with is “very important” and yes it’s ok to use a go devil on block but not lath, and that’s exactly right, it’s all about moisture and layers not one shot, THE ROD is the only way to do smooth or float finishes and see how he finishes it side ways?! that is knowledge...Great job!!!

    • @PxssyGalore
      @PxssyGalore 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You said,"No Lath"..why do you say that? And when you say Lath, do you mean that metal mesh stuff that you attach to the wall and then stucco over? I want to someday build a house out of cement block then stucco/render over it. I thought that you use that mesh stuff so the stucco lasts longer?

    • @MMGJ10
      @MMGJ10 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@PxssyGalore I'm not as experienced in stucco, but I do some and I'm a mason/bricklayer.
      You do not need galvanized mesh over concrete block. There's a natural, mechanical bond, a cementatious bond that occurs.
      Make sure the block is as clean and dust free as possible, and dampen it, but don't saturate it.
      Over wood? Yes, use a moisture barrier then attach the mesh and plaster coat it.

    Have you ever had marble sand together with white cement, it's a miracle so beautifully white when it dries, you don't even need to paint it, we use it smooth or thrown rough, rough can be used when a wall is crooked and abnormal.

    How different yous do it compared to us in Ireland... we do a scud coat first at 2to 1 which is like a splashed on coat.. then scratch coat at 4 or 5 to 1.. then a finish coat at 4 or 5 to1... one coat you usually see every block through it

    Great video! I have a couple of questions.
    1. How did you nail the corner bead without blowing out the block?
    2. I started to stucco a small courtyard cmu wall in my backyard. I put the whole 1/2” coat in one shot. A big chunk fell off the middle and I noticed a lot of sag on the bottom of the wall. Would you recommend two 1/4” passes to avoid this problem?
    Thanks for the great videos and your advice! 👍🏼

      For a block wall you just need a base coat , or 2 passes to get a good thickness and hide those block joints, stucco or finish, color coat is Also cementious product but has more bonding additives, the finish they are going to do is a smooth, as fine as flour.. so yes same stuff on both coats, stucco or different material for final coat
