As I listen to this masterpiece from 1981, it's amazing think this was actually on contemporary radio, on the actual Billboard Top 40, and was being listened to by millions of young people in 1981 from ages 15 to 30. The level of musicianship, songwriting, and performance is truly off the charts (no pun intended). No nudity, hos, n-words, c-words, b-words or any other insults and nudity required here, in order to get your point across as an entertainer/musician to an audience. Imagine that!! My absolute favourite musical genre, smooth jazz (soul being a close second). South Florida had the greatest smooth jazz radio station, Love 94. It was epic. Alas, I moved out of state and in the couple of decades that have passed has seen it's demise. Long live smooth jazz!
I'm captivated by the lyrics and harmony! What an incredible sound, that I miss oh so much! Today is my cheat day to listen to the classics I remember. My youngest son challenged me to listen to music he likes, which for me is challenging. But at least for this moment, I can travel back to my youth and reminisce about great timeless music, that unlike me, never grows old.
Lee has not got all his props. His voice and all the love and power comes out. The music was great then and now a days my grandbaby loves his music and she is only 4 ❤
Goes without saying that Lee Ritenour and Phil Perry shine here. But I gotta give major kudos to the woeful underrated Jimmy Johnson, one of the very first cats to use a 5 string bass guitar exclusively for studio and performance. His tone and phrasing on this performance are str8 killing.

I grew up in the late 70s with music by this great musician Mr. Ritenour. He is a giant.
This came out during the heyday of so called "Smooth Jazz". George Benson, Al Jarreau, George Duke, Chuck Mangione all were big during this time.
