I'm here to share my love for music and post stuff never released commercially and rare. I'm starting to think to erase all the future comments about people posting here about the "joke" of the intro of Phil or the meme on instagram...
I don't know who did this meme, and never saw it, but i'm clearly tired to receive 5 to 10 notifications in my emails per day about people making a joke about what phil does, as in case some of you didn't noticed, Phil not only make an amazing performance, but he's one of the best singer on the planet in his style (a Mix between Jazz, Pop, Soul, and Fusion) He's unfortunatly unknown, even in the Jazz world, very few people know him. Most of them are guys like me who played, studied and listened to people like Lee Ritenour or Karizma (David Garfield) or here with the one and only George Duke and Nathan East on Bass as well.
I'm ok with the people who come here about "the meme" and discover the music and Phil, that's the "nice" point of all this, expecially if they understand how much this performance is important and additionnaly, invite them to discover other recordings of Phil, but clearly, the ones who just come here to make an additional joke, i'm really tired of it...

I appreciate you. I came here from seeing the meme but I am a music lover. I'm 35 but I grew up on soul music my whole life. I heard this brothers vibration and it Set my mission for the day. I found this gem like one of the idiots tho. You never know how love will come to others from what you share. Stay true god.

Anybody is welcome, but i'm tired of reading each days in my mailbox, notifications about people still laughing at it, and who doesn't listen to the full tune and noticed that after the (amazing) vocalise of Phil, the tune and the singer performance is so beautiful and amazing.
i'm only talking about these peoples.. not people like you who love music and is able to appreciate, despite it's a joke who make you discover it ;) ! this is totally welcome !

I think the ‘humor’ in this situation is mostly just people reacting to the depth of emotion Phil is displaying at the beginning of the track. Between his facial expressions, gestures, and the juxtaposition of his yelped opening vocal into the gorgeous run he does to resolve it, he’s telling an entire story. And sometimes the only reaction people have to an emotional tidal wave like that is to laugh a little. I don’t think they’re making a mockery of him, just dumbstruck by the soulfulness of it! Thanks for uploading.

I'd really like to hear (off the record) what guys like Smokey think about today's artists. it's Monday afternoon on a beautiful day in China. Bless my brother sitting in Sydney, Australia for taking me down memory lane. His choices in music have truly shaped me. As a little sister, I would watch him dance and just thought he was the coolest person in the world. Today and now as he posted this song on FB I couldn't but help stop and listen. Thank you to my big brother Raymond Gaillard (Sonny) for always choosing such beautiful music to celebrate his love for life.
I love the audacity and confidence of those two opening yells/cries/"squawks"...I don't think I've ever seen anyone do that. Then he adds a run to the end of the third one and puts it into context.
