Again, Eric Tagg...Excellent songwriter!..I still regard the album "RIT" as one of the finest examples of jazz, funk, & pop music fused together...Every track is awesome!...Lee Ritenour remains one of the greatest jazz/rock guitarist's of all time!
I love this freshness and ...... smothness of Lee's style. Just great. It's also shocking for me how very importnant is Brazilian music for ALL jazz musicians. Lee is great
I guess this is my favorite clip on U tube. I keep getting back to it every now and then.. Every time i see it makes me wanna get back straight to LA and enjoy being around such divine talent. Its such a pity that after all this time media never manage to expose this to the mainstream and ignore all the junk that they show us out there..
This is real music, it's been way to long since I've heard this. Thank you Norvelle Brown for introducing this to me. Brought back many memories when you were down under RIP mate.
What a nice twist from the original vocals Ms Hathaway really takes this song to a new and refreshing level Well done Lee. Very funky bass to a very laid back song!
They will never make music like this again I feel privileged to have been young at that time. So smooth compared to today's all hard edged music............
love Eric's and Phil's versions and this one is great as well :) Just found out about these 2 singers! they captivated me from their respective first notes! and wow at Kenya's family relations (Donny and Lalah). great genes.
On this day in 1981 {July 25th} Lee Ritenour performed "Is It You" on the late Dick Clark's American Bandstand... Three months earlier on April 25th it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #15 and spent 16 weeks on the Top 100 chart... R.I.P. Mr. Clark...
Yay! I'm so glad someone posted this again. I can't believe how well this translates live and the vocals are great. Grady sounds a lot like Brian McKnight and that can't be a bad thing! Both he and Kenya really do justice to Eric Tagg's original vocal. The bass player on this is amazing too, seriously grooving.
OMG I love this beautiful song! Thanks so much for posting it, it's been hard for me to find it! I love it so much! It makes me feel that life despite the bad is still really good! Thanks again!
Now this is cool! uhm! this is actually the first time i heard a live version of this... actually awesome.... not like the original but pretty awesome as well.

this version of Is It You? is included in Lee Ritenour's Overtime album. But the original version, sung by Eric Tagg, was in Lee Ritenour's Rit album. Both were well played and each has their own charm.
I love all three versions that I've heard. The first one was with Eric Tagg and then I heard Phil Perry's version which is my favorite. Then I just heard this version
Omar Hakim on drums? Man, I haven't heard music like this since i was in college 20 years ago! It's kinda like every timid white jazz student's entrance into Pop-Jazz music out of a path that probably started with Mahavishnu and King Crimson into Late Miles and Weather Report into: "hey maybe we should play jazzy pop and sell some records? I clicked because I heard Lee on NPR today playing some serious bop! gonna go look for that! props!
