Its ironic that the absence of a clan weakness is the greatest weakness of the Caitiff, since it causes them to stand out as not being of any of the major clans or bloodlines. That being said, the clanless are in a unique position within kindred society, being a full-blooded vampire but not neatly fitting in anywhere within the power structure of The Ivory Tower. I can imagine The Caitiff being one of the few clans or bloodlines that interact more regularly with other supernaturals thanks to their position as outsiders. I can imagine an enterprising coterie of Caitiff striking a deal with a pack of Bone Gnawer werewolves to infiltrate an Elysium or Camarilla gathering to gather intel in exchange for the werewolves protecting the abandoned underpass they use to sleep through the day.
Strange to imagine, but the strangest company tends to appear at rock bottom, especially when survival is on the line.
I don't know why, i might be weird, but i just love the Caitiff and Thinblooded. I like playing underdogs, rabble and trash.
the caitiff are my favorite too
Bro saaaame
Hey. I know this sounds crazy, but your videos helped me out of a dark place in my life. Back in July of last year I tired to un alive myself. I lost my job because of it. So I had a lot of time on my hands. I need something to focus something to pour my self in not just seat in my loneliness. And it was this channel and VTM. I'm doing a lot better now. And soon I will run my first game of VtM. So thank you.
Doesn't sound crazy at all, thank you for sharing that. 🫂 I'm sorry things were so bad for you last year but glad things are much better now. I hope they continue to be positive, each day better than the last 💙
Hey so glad to see you still in the world of the living.❤
hey friend,im happy youre still here. Did you start your game yet?
I'm just silently using these tips to hide my Salubri's presence as a Salubri. Better to be hated and forcefully disregarded than actively hunted.
Yay! You didn’t forget my favourite "clan"
Fun Fact: when writing this series, I missed them and had to go back and write them in, so I technically did (a lot) 😂
@@LoreByNightVtM Ha! Of corse
My Bahari Lhaka is a Caitiff, and revels in her detachment from the blood of Caine! It's so fun to play the ultimate outsider and fill the flaws section of the character sheet :)
I can't remember where I read it but I like the idea that a Caitiff who is abandoned develops their disciplines based on pop culture vampire abilities.
They're Brujah, but Walter and Millie Gaspars from the L.A. By Night book are kind of like that. They staked their sire and left him to be claimed by the sun on the night of their embrace. They have avoided kindred society through effort and with a bit of good luck and everything they know about vampires comes from pop culture.
The kindred in charge of Cairo is a catiff.
*was. It was one of the ones I alluded too
@LoreByNightVtM Did Mukhtar Bey got overthrown?
@luisa.acevedo3326 Nope. As I said in the video, he had to step down
Where's the bit about Joseph Pander? Can't throw Pander into the intro without talking about the man himself.
Check out the lore episode I did on them to get the full monty 😉
My caitiff player in Chicago by Night plays a hacker. Ofcourse has Hurricane as a 2 dot flaw, very fun. He also has a gun and is a total menance in every Elysium by standing his ground. The coterie are Camerilla hounds, so imagine the drama.
The duskborn are the only thing less liked then you but theyre not really vampires.... more like half vampires xD
THIN ICE 😂😂😂
Yep! Good stuff once again. Give us that V20 love, why don't you?
Oh! and maybe Panders??? V20???
Right now I was invited to a table to vampire the masquerade V20, I want to play a Caitiff with the idea that he is a run off from the Sabbath, and he is trying to live in a Camarilla city, he got adopted by a Bruha( Mentor 4) and he is new to all of this, I choose, Celerity, Auspex and Obfuscate for survival purpose, he is a Very Smart soldier that was use in a conflict on South Africa a few years ago and now he was threw out in a conflict, with no Idea what he needs to do to survive.
Ahhhh the Caitiff. Oh how I love them. (TW: I am going to talk about my character. Potentially mentioning child abuse)
My ST ran an Anarch chronicle revolving around them and the Thinbloods in a small town. Pretty much, we were the local dumping grounds, a collection of exiles from other clans and sects. Those that had clans were likely Thinbloods who diabolized their sires or other kindred to get their clan (That or they were Ministers and the like that held heretical beliefs). I remember my first character for that game was a Caitiff, an 18 y/o punk rocker with serious anger issues. Their creation was really interesting. Cause they didn't have one sire but two. Their mother was a Toreador and their father was a Malkavian. Pretty much when my character was embraced (they consented to being Embraced, they were pretty much an Orphan and grew up in foster care), both my characters 'mom' and 'dad' used their blood, creating a cocktail that combined both of their clans features, but also neither of them. From the mother's side, they got Presence. From their father's, Dominate. And through their predator type (Blood Leech) and general mutation, they got their favorite discipline, Protean. I did this to promote the idea of them being more monstrous and bestial, as their outbursts and frenzies would lead to rebellious bouts of violence. But yeah, it was really fun, especially with the added nuance that their parents created them to have much less social standing than they did.
Later on, they diablerized a Nosferatu Cammie who was leading a scouting party that was murdering random Thinbloods in the city, and she got Potence and Animalism from it. This really helped with their monster aspect, since they can supplement their Protean with Potence and they can commune with beasts. And with that plus doping on elder blood (Long story no time to get into it) has made them quite formidable. They have Vissicitude, in addition to Spark of Rage and other things. She also has Eyes of the Serpents to piss off the Ministry, but yeah. I love the Caitiff. It feels like you can do whatever you want with them. And sure, they are pretty much reviled and hated, but really don't care. After all, they've managed to steal enough power to begin carving their own path in life (Also her abusive parents are dead so that helps).
One of my favorite characters in 2nd Edition was a Caitiff that passed for Gangrel because he had the Protean discipline, but there never were many other Gangrel around...
A fun option for caitiff is playing a clan adoptee where you're accepted into a clan as a member. It opens a lot of cool ideas. For example i played a caitiff who'd mutilate her face every night due as a nosferatu with celerty, obfuscate and auspex as her lineup.
Oh man I've been watching these for awhile now my favorite clan is Malkavian of course and it makes me want to see one of the Abominations or the vampire werewolf hybrids.
Sometimes it's a Toreador that uses Obfuscate and somehow the whole group not question it. 😂
I enjoy playing caitiff- always makes for an interesting time!
I manly use Caitiff to recreate Bloodlines
This is my current character’s clan! Or I guess clan-less. My table only had two players so I made an npc that could fill in gaps for their coterie. Caitiff suited her well. Currently serving as the Scourge for Lodin in Chicago since she helped save his life. She wanted to be sheriff and he just laughed at her and made her scourge as something like a punishment for her gall. Not accepted by the Anarchs, thin bloods or other Caitiff since as scourge she’s sent to kill them
11:10 I started her with dominate, auspex and then obfuscate. Her sire was a Lestat like ventrue who staked and buried her after too many non ventrue powers manifested. She had chosen her because she was an heiress to the top candy company in Chicago. He courted her and tricked her into thinking he loved her
