If the people playing against him said he was hard to defend and respected his ability, I find it way too soon in his broncos career to say it was all Pete.

Thought they should've traded Russ before last season with all the drama that was going on- it was time. But by not doing so they were able to leverage even more in trade compensation later. I don't think anyone predicted Russ's fall off in production like this, though.
I'm a Seahawks Fan, as a Fan I've watched all the B.S. over the years from Russel, the conclusion nobody seems to get about him he's all about the Coin, you give him what he wants and he has no motivation, his place in the Hall of Fame is pretty much set but he's going to drain everyone of hard earned cash till his eventual retirement day which is in less than 2 years max. In Seattle, as soon as he was given the big money, our team died, no money under the cap for Offence or Defense, it all went too Russ, after reading what I'm saying, is it a surprise he's been sacked more than most QB's?
With the draft picks and players in return and the cap relief, this trade was a win from day 1. This shouldn't be a question. It has nothing to do with all the narratives either. Football is still won with coaching and the trenches.
Geno has a MUCH BETTER WR/TE/RB Offense around him, Wilson does not have much to work with. Wilson does have one WR that could be coming on strong. Go Hawks!!!!
Geno looks good and will probably have a great year. The question is next and beyond. when teams start to key in on ur strength and weaknesses. He is good on scheduled plays, but the greats make plays off schedule as well. Come from behind victories and game wining drives, which i believe Russ leads the nfl currently or top 3 in. Denver wins 1 superbowl or get to the superbowl , within Russ contract years, it will be deemed a win. The only way Hawks win the trade is it the Russ never makes it to another superbowl and continues to trend downward for the remainder of his contract deal while they continue to have success in Seattle.
The only way this was gonna be a dub for the broncos is if he won them a ring. And that ain’t looking like it’ll happen. It may you never know but odds are Seahawks won one of the biggest trades in modern day nfl history
Maybe Pete wasn't talking about Russ, maybe he was talking about Bevell or Schottenheimer. Y'all don't know, you're just making an assumption. Media is about ratings, they love spinning sh!t.
@@itssnoopy333 yea cause he was young and he could roll outside of the pocket, scramble for large gains, and make big plays. He can’t do that no more, the defense is faster than russ now.
Let's remember when Geno ran the offense last year nobody was shouting MVP. I think Waldron's schemes/play calling has evolved a great deal since last year, so much so that you can hardly recognize the two. I've never been a fan of Carroll but I'll give him credit for finally letting his coordinators coach (I think Pete got a talking to from the higher ups that if he doesn't change his ways he would be gone). After years of Carroll trying to run the LOB defense without the LOB talent he has finally change the defensive philosophy as well (their defense was so bad the last 5 years that they had to dial back the offense to help it, and the defense is Pete's baby). The bend but don't break defense is gone. They are much more aggressive with the blitz and man coverage this year, and they finally closed that hole in the middle. Will the good times last? Can Carroll adjust to the adjustment that is sure to come from future opponents? Will he cave and go back to his old ways at the first sign of trouble? We shall see. Warning: Pete is stubborn as nails.
What You are Witnessing on the Seahawks this Year is PURE Pete Carrol. Yes, Waldron and Hurt are doing excellent jobs. They are Both First Time Coordinators. All You Fire Pete Boys Make Me Laugh! 🤡
People weren't shouting MVP because Geno wasn't given full control, they wanted to ease him into the situation. You could see immediately when Geno took the field in the rams game, he had far better control and tempo than Wilson did. Wilson for probably the last 4-5 years has looked like he does in denver. Geno runs an offense that can actually consistently move the sticks and take what the defense gives them. Russ was basically just looking for bombs most of the time.
The reason the offense started looking like what we expected is that Russ wouldn’t or couldn’t run this offense. Also, the problem he had pulling the trigger on passing to wide open receivers started here in Seattle.
@@teamdinosaurs999 Russ loves the deep ball for sure, he's is not blameless. But the hawks won a lot of games over last 4-5 years and it wasn't because of the defense.
Remember all of those plays where Seattle would have to hurry to barely get the play off? Or all of those plays they couldn’t and had to burn timeouts instead and we always blamed Pete? He was NOT the problem
And now they are blaming Hackett, I think Pete is highlighting that in a way, basically saying Hackett isn’t as much of the problem as people make it out to be.
@@khure711 yep. russ is the common denominator. at some point people are gonna realize he's the problem. even though hackett does seem pretty awful still
@@alexgeorge9533 to me it’s two fold, Hackett is a new head coach, so growing pains for sure. Second he was being sold a false bill of goods. Wilson claims to be a pocket qb that’s a throw first run second mentality. So when the two designed the playbook this last offseason (which was reported they did) he made plays to suit a pocket qb. Now figuring out that his playbook is crap because Wilson isn’t a pocket qb. Which reaffirms why he wore a wrist band against Jacksonville because they had to scrap a lot of plays and make new ones during their bye week. And further more Wilson’s input on the off-season was so evident that Tyler Lockett pointed out during the week 1 game that Denver was using their old signals for wr route audibles.
I was GLAD Seahawks got rid of Wilson AND Wagner, they getting old and too expensive. What i never expected is Seahawks playing this well in a "rebuilding" year. AND Russ playing this bad on Hackets scheme, I knew its not the best fit for Russ, but this BAD?
Now that most of the dust & smoke has settled from the Seahawks & Broncos I beLIEve that even if #RustWilson was having a stellar A+ season right now I'm still leaning towards the Seahawks getting the better end of the stick on the trade! What the Hawks recieved in return for Rust at present IS THE GIFT THAT KEEPS ON GIVING!!! ✌️👁️✌️
As a seahawks fan, 1) russ is at this point, the greatest qb in seahawks history, chanel my mind. 2) seahawks were not as successful in russ's more recent years in some part because of his massive contract, hawks dint have the $ to pay as many or any elite players in other positions, other than guys we drafted such as Tyler lockett. Granted, some injuries. But I'm inclined to what they say about brady, that he took less $, still making enough to get by, but leaves the team with more $ to build the rest of the team.
To be fair though, we don't know how good or bad Aaron Rodgers would look if he went to Denver instead of Wilson or another team. Rodgers could very easily be getting his ass whooped in Denver right now just like Wilson. As bad as Wilson has played, Wilson atleast took the challenge. Rodgers stayed in GB, in his comfort zone, in a historically weak division, plays in the smallest market on a team that has no traditional ownership. There is zero accountability for him in GB and he is never blamed. Green Bay is the NFL equivalent to an overgrown college town where Rodgers is the star on campus. Brady had to start all over in Tampa and Wilson had to start all over in Denver. If Rodgers had to start all over or move to a tougher division than the NFC North then we have no idea what he'd look like. Brady and Wilson also stole jobs from players (Drew Bledsoe/Matt Flynn) whereas Rodgers sat for three years behind a hall of famer (Brett Favre) which most likely has contributed to him having a superior TD:INT ratio because QBs who start straight out of college tend to make more mistakes. Brady and Wilson overcame more odds than Aaron Rodgers. When comparing Rodgers and other QBs like Brady and Wilson, alot of nuance needs to be added to the conversation. Everyone saying the Broncos need Rodgers and not Wilson need to think a little harder. Rodgers just lost to the Detroit Lions so what makes you think he and Denver would steamroll Mahomes and Chiefs or Herbert and the Chargers who he'd have to play four times in one season?
Not time at ALL to make this wildly premature call! Wilson will take time to gel with Broncos receivers and a new system, new ownership, new coaches, new place. We give two months and draw these dramatic conclusions.
Yeah, Russ might be a problem, but Hackett doesn't seem to be the coach of the future. I think that between the two, Russ might be able to be fixed, or maybe they can trade him.
ok this is petty but the 2022 5th seattle got from denver wasn't used to draft tariq woolen it was traded to kansas city for a later 5th and a 7th which was used to draft DE tyreke smith and WR dareke young; woolen was picked using a different 5th round pick still an amazing trade but don't get the facts wrong here lmao
Think it couldn't get worse? Broncos almost lost to Jacksonville! They are a drive or two away from being 0 - 8 ! As every week goes by the Seahawks proving that Russ was the problem all along, not Pete. What a mess Denver has to clean up...
We (Seahawks fans) loved RW. Made excuse after excuse for all of his poor decisions. For gods sake, he threw a Pick to LOSE A SB, and he barely got any of the blame for it. It ruined a potential Dynasty, the team was split, and the rest is history. He should have audibled out that play, but he was going to be the hero, and nothing makes Russ happier than being the Hero!!! But...the second he said he wanted out and to play for a city that craves championships....dead to us...
Bart is on the money. It looks like Pete covered Rus' flaws and maximized his positives. Rus is a phenomenal QB when he is in the right system, when he has a run game to fall on
let's wait another year before rejoicing. Geno needs to be consistent year in year out, and Russel needs to be trash year in year out for at least 1-2 years more.
RW won a BUNCH of games and was competitive in nearly every game he played as a Seahawk. He did it without the defense, without the running game and with a crappy Oline. RW is a HOFer, he will settle down and Denver will be a tough out as the season goes. Smith is playing GREAT but he is getting better protection in addition to standing tall until the last second. Russell had to move most times playing in a division that has Aaron Donald, Bosa and whatever group of Cardinals players are being sent in numbers. Seattle obviously got the better deal but they still need to draft a young stud QB because Geno is near the end of his career. Seattle will have the luxury of bringing a kid along in addition to drafting a couple defensive players and another stud Oline player. Talk about value for Russell
No... Idk who calls themselves a Hawk fan and thinks this is logical. Pete is perhaps the best coach in history. Not only to Seattle. He's the reason why a 7-10 team is now 6-3 in a 4 week rebuild. You are wishing a coaching world like Kliff Kingsbury upon us if we allow such a thing. Pete goes when he's done. Until then he's our man. Winning record, and it's time... No, Sir.
If he's still here, the offense is still clicking, and Pete decides it's time to retire, sure. But this season has shown us that Pete has a lot left in the tank.
The Seahawks could be 3-6 right now and I still would say the hawks won the trade based solely on Russ's play. But they're 6-3 and hit on their draft picks. This may be worst than the Hershel Walker trade.
Look, HOW TF IS THIS STILL A QUESTION ACTER 9 WEEKS? LOOK WHAT WE DID WIT THE EXTRA PICS? NOT TO MENTION IM ALMOST POSITIVE WE STILL GET THERE 1ST RD PIC NEXT YEAR AS WELL & WE HAVE A SHIT LOAD OF SALARY CAP

@@Sooner-ds3iu Lol I'm not mad bud, just think it's douchey when little trolls have to point out minor errors in someone's post so they can make themselves feel smarter? Maybe it's an insecurity thing? Guess I wouldn't know? Can I still root for the Hawks even if they are "your team?"
Thought they should've traded Russ before last season with all the drama that was going on- it was time. But by not doing so they were able to leverage even more in trade compensation later. I don't think anyone predicted Russ's fall off in production like this, though.
It’s safe to say Russ got paid and ain’t gonna get beat up anymore.
Hah! Pete isn’t just taking shots at his former QB. He’s taking shots at all of YOU that tried to tell everyone he was cooked over the past two years.
Good God Pete was talking about Geno Smith. I don't think it had a damn thing to do with RW3. The media loves a circus because "controversy sells".
Seahawks won the trade the day it happened
They won a middle-of-the-road amount of games over the last five years without a wristband. They were far from exceptional.
Can someone explain the wrist band situation, because I don’t get what they mean.
How is it Hacketts fault when Russ can’t see
He won a lot of game “not being able to see” 🤣😭😂
@@itssnoopy333 lmao seems like that’s his only comeback
Hackett came from a system that relied on a pocket QB and seems to want to continue designing such plays for a QB with a weak pocket presence.
@@itssnoopy333 yea cause he was young and he could roll outside of the pocket, scramble for large gains, and make big plays. He can’t do that no more, the defense is faster than russ now.
This isn't even a question. OF COURSE Seattle won this trade. It's not even close. Denver got fleeced.
They are not even blitzing that much this is literally their front four getting pressure
3n out 3nout 3 n out hit lockete or dk for huge gain or td that what it came too in recent years
I was GLAD Seahawks got rid of Wilson AND Wagner, they getting old and too expensive. What i never expected is Seahawks playing this well in a "rebuilding" year. AND Russ playing this bad on Hackets scheme, I knew its not the best fit for Russ, but this BAD?
9 pro bowl but 1 all pro and it's a second team selection. His time in Denver will definitely hurt his legacy if they don't win
Does anyone really count a 2nd team all pro? I mean it’s supposed to be who the best at the position. Not who’s the 2nd best at the position.
@@khure711 exactly my point
@@markymark512 yeah I was doubling down on your point, I certainly agree with you.
Um greeney Wilson has had a better career than rodgers.Wilson been to twice as many superbowls
Damn the broncos got fleeced. Wow
Absolutely not. It is never okay to celebrate the misfortunes of others.
Russ has always been a 3 and out machine. Seahawks fans know. That year we lost to the cowboys in the playoffs is a great example
Don’t forget Matt Ryan
Only regret as a Seahawks fan I have is that they should have traded Russell before he signed his last contract.
Not time at ALL to make this wildly premature call! Wilson will take time to gel with Broncos receivers and a new system, new ownership, new coaches, new place. We give two months and draw these dramatic conclusions.
it's still too early to say who won the trade. give it a few years and see
To say right now Russ isn’t a HOFer is really stupid
If it continues this way you have to cut ties with Nathaniel Hackett and see if somebody else can come in and fix this ship
Yeah, Russ might be a problem, but Hackett doesn't seem to be the coach of the future. I think that between the two, Russ might be able to be fixed, or maybe they can trade him.
with every bronco loss, the trade looks even better!
Jody Allen won the trade by keeping Pete Carroll.
ok this is petty but the 2022 5th seattle got from denver wasn't used to draft tariq woolen it was traded to kansas city for a later 5th and a 7th which was used to draft DE tyreke smith and WR dareke young; woolen was picked using a different 5th round pick
still an amazing trade but don't get the facts wrong here lmao
Russ is a hall of famer you dont erase his career because hes old now. Like come on. Not even a Russ, seahawks or broncos fan
my eagles are undefeated and looking at a top 10 pick!!!
Absolutely they did. RW not even with $24 million.
Wilson should go back to the movie Castaway. He is the most over-rated QB to both win and lose a Super Bowl.
Didn't realise Woolen came as a result of this trade, another reason we won out.
6 minutes an a wristband lol
At least with dolphins Texans the Texans got a hell of a player. The broncos tho…
Wilson legacy is set already STOP IT
We need to make Waldron the next HC.... I like what Pete is doing but it's time
Dont think so
Waldron wants no part of the loser...#donkeysgotfleeced
This may be worst than the Hershel Walker trade.
... might be worse* than ...
It takes 5 of these experts in week 10 to figure this out now? 6-3 to 3-5... I wouldn't of guessed.
lol denver could easily be 6-2.
@@RL-ww5ev not this year
... wouldn't have* (!) guessed ...
If only they hadn't traded for Jamal Adams, things would be even better
We have Denver's first and second pick
Until another championship and/or superbowl is obtained then neither has really won yet.
This show is making a wrist band - a nothing story, into something big.
So far yes
Look, HOW TF IS THIS STILL A QUESTION ACTER 9 WEEKS? LOOK WHAT WE DID WIT THE EXTRA PICS? NOT TO MENTION IM ALMOST POSITIVE WE STILL GET THERE 1ST RD PIC NEXT YEAR AS WELL & WE HAVE A SHIT LOAD OF SALARY CAP
Good morning Rip VanWinkle did you have a good nap?
CAN YALL STOP TALKING BOUT THE “BREAKUP” YET? WE LITERALLY DONT CARE, FIND SOME CONTENT
Why is this even a debate? Wilson has been the worst qb in the league
The question is why wouldn't you wear one.
Get Up way better than First Take no 🧢
Ya think...
We broncos fans keeping receipts
NO player is worth that many draft picks and a player or two thrown in.
Seattle knew this. And they can't be held responsible since they NEVER advertised him as such. Literally all other 31 teams created this narrative like RW was a Tom Brady on the Browns.
@@BRlNGERofRAIN RW is great, won Seattle many games they should have lost.
-Look at Seattles Record before RW and then for the next 10 years.
The STUPID Traded was all Denver's fault, Seattle would have been STUPID NOT to take the deal.
Not to toot my own horn, but I thought Denver was giving away way too much at the time. I was surprised how many pundits thought Denver ripped Seattle off. It's not because I hated Wilson either. I wanted him to retire a Seahawk. I just don't think any player is worth mortgaging your future for, not even a great QB.
@@bobswanson8464 Uh buddy, Seattle was literally in the Super Bowl 7 years before Russ was drafted. So Seattle was successful even before Pete and Russ were here. Matter of fact, ever since we've joined the NFC West in 2002, we've been one of the most winningest franchises in the league. And look at Russ now. Went 4-11 as a starter and bottom of the division. And Pete? Had a winning record and a playoff berth with a career backup, 6 starting rookies, and a bunch of practice squad players. I would suggest you look into our history before making comments like these
@@alexgrandii2870 Agree 100%, the Seahawks have been winning for a long time and should have won they SB...Refs admitted they blew calls and everyone agrees it was the worse ref SB ever.
But, when RW came on the team, he turned a 50/50 time into a SB winning team.
Hawks had all the players in place, just had a HORRIBLE Starting QB (Only QB that year NOT to score a Point at the end of First Half or at the end of the game for the entire season).
RW came in a made the BIG plays with his Arms and Feet. Score points when they needed the most...so many times at the end of the game.
***Key stat, RW was WON MORE games in his for 8 years then any other QB in their first 8 years than ANY other QB in NFL History....true he had a great D and Running game helping him out.
All I am saying is...RW took the Hawks to the next level.
-2 SBs in a row, should have won BOTH if they just would have Handed the ball of to ML two plays in a row from the ONE Yard line.
I was getting called a salty butthurt Seahawks fan when I said he sucked and I was glad he was gone.I was surprised as heck when he got traded after he been playing like do do. Hawks actually have receivers so he could pad those stats but Denver is hot garbage.
Yeah
Sierra deserves credit for turning dangeruss into a bonified diva 😀
His name is play was declining BEFORE he left Seattle
Thats a no brainer
Geno Smith is in the kitchen and Russ is not. You tell me?
Seahawks fan. There were a lot of 3rd and longs. There were a lot of delay of games. A lot of coverage sacks.
How the hell is Denver rebuilding already and they got Russ they supposed to be competing for super bowls
Wilson has been so poor, and is so expensive, that every single piece in return individually would be a win for Seattle.
i concede that the hawks got the better trade but i am so sick of these analysts acting like they saw it coming after gassing up the broncos all off season. Like at least admit that yall were dead fucking wrong
