    Dan is right about one thing. Zach is playing "scared to make a mistake" football. Whether thats coaching or Zach, it needs to stop and let him wing it. It is the same way Josh Allen had 3 ints against the Jets in week 1. Sometimes you make a good decision and the defense just beats you. So be it. Cant be playing safe. Gotta play to win!

    I agree with Dan 1,000,000%. The Jets are at the point now where they have to decide if this kid is even worth keeping. Tell him go out there and play football and have fun doing it. If he throws a pick, so be it. Tell him to "come back with your shield or come back on it" to quote Queen Gorgo in 300. He's stankin up the field anyway so he can't play any worse. Let him pick out 10 or 15 plays that he's comfortable with and tell him to go make something happen. if he fails, then it's time to part ways with him.

    • @charlesfaure1189
      @charlesfaure1189 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That decision has already been made. The Jets' front office was hoping to hide Wilson behind Aaron Rodgers while driving the narrative of how much Zach was progressing with Rodgers' mentoring (that narrative was in full view during the offseason.) We see now how much progress he made: none. Their plan was to use that narrative to get some trade value for him so they could ship him. In other words, it was a con, hoping that some fool of a GM somewhere would fall for it.

    I agree. When he was actually good at BYU he freelanced like a Favre. He does have an arm and improv ability. He just struggles badly running a traditional offense and going read-to-read. He's not wired that way. Get him on the move and push the ball vertically.

    • @RobbieStacks90
      @RobbieStacks90 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      His last season at BYU, the Cougars played an awful schedule. His offensive line and Allgeier were dominant all season long, which made him look much better than he was. I was never fooled by any of that, and it was clear that Trevor Lawrence was in another stratosphere compared to Wilson. The Coastal Carolina game should have been enough of a warning sign for the Jets.

      Favre won 3 straight mvp's and went to 2 super bowls and even his freelancing got him in trouble. Zach wilson can not freelance that well he makes poor decisions and puts the ball in danger too often. This isnt college its the pros. He cant get it done because if he could there would be no need for aaron rodgers or they would be just fine without him. The jets know he stinks they just thought rodgers pixie dust was gonna fall on wilson and all of a sudden he's modern day fran tarkenton. He's not.

      @@universe-ie2mk I'm not arguing he's remotely close to Favre as a player. Trust me man lol. I'm just talking about playing style. He'll make mistakes and turn the ball over often, but you'll get the occasional splash play. That's better than what he's currently doing. Not taking chances and can't execute the basics. He does have a strong arm. That's what led to him being drafted that high

I'm just talking in terms of running the offense and playing style. You gotta get him on the move and let him improv. You will get the occasional splash play because he does a strong arm. You gotta live with the mistakes though. At the moment he can't execute the basics and he's not taking chances, so there's zero benefit and potential upside

      @@brooksorlando4881 Yeah, I agree completely with that. If Jets modify the offensive game plan like you suggested to take advantage of what strengths he does possess, he can at least be serviceable. I feel sorry for the Jets, their fans and Rodgers as well but Wilson's point of view. He was set up failure, no matter how bad he is at playing football, the coach and his teammates don't wanna take a chance and try to regroup after Aaron went down. I agree. When he was actually good at BYU they let him freelance and play hero ball. It's not the smartest method of success, but it's what he's good at. He does an arm and mobility. He just can't sit in the pocket and go read-to-read. He can't mentally process a defense fast enough. First sign of a pass rush, his eyes lock onto the defender and he bails. To say he just sucked from the beginning to now does not tell the whole story. In his first season, after he came back from injury, he looked pretty good even in losing efforts. I think there were games against the Eagles or Texans that he performed well. At the end of the season, he was trending up. The 2nd season he got hurt in the first preseason game and didn't return until game 4 of the regular season. He had an okay game against the Steelers by rallying them to victory. But that was the beginning of the end. The media stories of the team winning in spite of him and the criticisms of his turnovers proved too great for his psyche. I think it's too late for him now as he looks broken. Inside I think he has a self-confidence issue. He would probably have turned out much better if he had some of Joe Burrow's moxie to turn off the noise and just focus on your craft.

      Trevor Lawrence has played all 37 games over the two seasons and into the 3rd. Sam Darnold was given 3 full seasons; ZW has only played 25 games; it’s way too early to quit on him specially since he’s been mis-developed. Jets fans will regret this if he goes elsewhere and is developed properly towards success. Jets are putting him in a box and playing him like a traditional drop back QB. It's incompetent. Play to the players strengths. I do agree about Lance. Shanahan is as good as it gets and he realized he wasn't good enough. He saw him in practice daily. He knows what he's doing. Lance has bad throwing mechanics and accuracy. I'm going to have to agree with Dan. The scared approach isn't working at all, and it's obvious Zach isn't a game manager. This kid either needs to throw it around or just trade him and get it over with. Who knows, something great may happen. It can't get any worse, right? I mean, a loss is a loss whether it's by 40 or 1, so I say take the training wheels off and let it fly. Especially this week in a game we probably weren't going to win anyway, even with ARod. Let the kid air it out.
